I am a fan of Costco and they seem to be everywhere and...always crowded. I was here to go to the AT&T booth and pick up some groceries. Parking was a mess as per usual.

Receipt: CHOC CHURRO. Contents: Vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup (really?), and teeny tiny churro bits

I was pretty sure the ordering kiosk showed an image of chocolate ice cream which is what I selected. The lady at the window saw "CHOC CHURRO" on my receipt, today 4/06/2026 and made my sundae with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and bits of churro. I didn't say anything because this is my first time trying the churro sundae but I'm quite sure the sauce is supposed to be caramel regardless of whether you get vanilla or chocolate. So, wrong sauce and wrong ice cream!!! THIS IS THE 2ND TIME I've ordered a sundae that has been prepared incorrectly. The first time was the mint choc cookie sundae. The woman didn't put chocolate sauce, just mint ice cream and cookies. WTF!!! I had someone else order this sundae for me and it was also prepared by a woman. Hey Costco, what type of people are you hiring to serve basic simple items in the food court??!!! Perhaps a hands-on training on new items will fix this incompetence. As for the churro sundae, it's a thumbs down for me. I didn't like the churro bits. They're so tiny and remind me of some type of cereal. Perhaps if they were the nice, hot, cut-up pieces of the churros they serve, I imagine that would taste much better.

This cookie is suboptimal. It's too big and sweet. Make sure to bring lots of people to share it with because this one's a doozy. In other news, This Costco is pretty hard to park in. It's a battle every time. It also took 20 minutes to get this cookie because that's how long the Costco food court line was.

We all know that their parking lot can be a nightmare, and that varies depending on the time of day. This parking lot is definitely no exception. In actuality, this is probably one of the worst parking lot experiences I've ever had. There's no rhyme a reason to it, it doesn't flow, and unfortunately, the people in the parking lot are pretty indicative of the people shopping in the warehouse. After finally being able to park, and then trying to hunt down a shopping cart, I was in the warehouse and finally shopping. I would consider Mountain View to be fairly civilized location. Boy do they have me fooled. Apparently, shopping carts are the new game of go karts. Everyone is fair game, it's acceptable to push someone or their shopping cart with your own, and run into people and keep going. I thought maybe that was my experience, but as I made my way through the warehouse, it was an everyone experience. I did enjoy the fact that I found some items at this location that I have never seen at the handful of other warehouses that I do shop at, so there is the positive in the story. The lines to check out are absolutely insane and people change lanes with the intent of trying to push someone else out of their way. It goes from being amusing to ridiculous. My plan was to go through self check out, but then one of the Costco employees started picking up all of the hand scanners, and saying that they would no longer be using them because of this particular warehouse, I guess people were not reading things incorrectly, and it wasn't being caught at the door Getting through one of the regular lines was less problematic than it appeared, and the line thankfully moved a lot faster, but not without incident. The people in front of me were literally throwing things onto the "belt", and when some of the jars collided and broke, that made for a lovely smelly mess. By the time I got to the cashier, he had a look of desperation in his eyes, and I promised him that checking me out would be as pain-free as possible. I was glad that I could bring some levity to the situation, and give him a feeling of relief. Definitely not my favorite Costco. Definitely not my favorite shopping experience. Definitely not really planning on going back.

Restaurant City - Too bad I have the ones I need. These are way sturdier.

Firstly, the store is open to the public. I looked for some signs, but there was nothing posted,…read morebut ask and the answer was a resounding yes. I give five stars to any place that convinces me I need that bit of kitchen equipment. Not just replacements or duplicates, I mean stuff that does not exist in my kitchen. I have limited space in my kitchen and I do my best to avoid nonessentials. And there are not too many holes in my kitchen inventory. Since this is a restaurant supply store, I figured most of the equipment would be inappropriate for a home kitchen. And mostly it was. I really don't need paper napkins 5000 at a time. But every now and then I saw something that you don't normally see for the home cook. Now the restaurant size woks and pots were to be expected. What I didn't expect was the equipment that's clearly meant to cook individual size portions. Literally these were the cutest little woks I've ever seen. These were also the only woks where I had even the faintest chance of executing that professional chefs flip. I gave it a whirl and no luck. It's still too heavy for me. They did have some items that were on clearance. Now these prices are perfectly in line with other stores, possibly even lower. But way too late, I already have those. What a bummer. There's some stuff that automatically incited lust. But I already know this type of equipment should never be installed in a residential kitchen. For example, they had gas burners for restaurants. I seriously doubt anyone would run the gas pipes that you need to fuel these burners. I think they would violate most residential building codes. Nevertheless, they're awesome kitchen porn. I found the mix of kitchen equipment very interesting. The percentage of items that were clearly of Asian origin was very large. Here are all the missing doodads that *some* Asian markets should be stocking... Have you ever been frustrated purchasing equipment, where the plastic bits like the lids keep breaking and you can't find the replacements? Take a look at this place, the containers are standardized and so are the lids. Finally. I ran across some truly unexpected items. A lot of them were things you never think of like replacement knobs for pots, replacement wooden handles for woks. And you know those traditional brushes that your mom insist is the only way to clean a wok properly? They had it. They had it in the extra extra extra large size, but they had it. And sometimes it was just little things like the kitchen gloves that look like they would survive a tornado. Unfortunately, they were all latex and I'm allergic to latex. Oh well. Of course, there are the bits of equipment that are only useful in the home kitchen and obviously they are completely missing. Sometimes professionalism is too big of price to pay for giving up traditional cookware. If you're just glancing at the prices, they seem awfully high. But take the time to pull out the item and hold it in your hands. There is no doubt it will be heavier and probably has some interesting features that you won't find for the home version. Let's just say the wire racks will hold your cookies even if they're made of lead. And just to make my point, there was no nonstick anything anywhere that I could spot. For those of you who are looking for kitchen items that are a little bit out of the way or need something heavier duty than average. This is a great place to shop. On the other hand, many of these items are going to be too large to store easily or even to use if the dimensions of your kitchen equipment don't match. The Customer Service in the store was simply fantastic. They left you alone if you wanted to browse, and there was certainly plenty to browse. If you had questions or if you were getting serious about a purchase, they were happy to answer questions and make recommendations. 100% recommend if you are a kitchen equipment geek. You'll have fun even if you can't use any of it. 50-50 if you are looking for something unusual. Most items are only stocked if they are used in a restaurant kitchen. There's nothing that specifically aimed at home kitchens. For example, there are no kitchen appliances. Inventory fluctuates. I was delighted to find a silicone baking mat, but it only came in the half sheet size. My hopes for a domed wok cover rose high when I saw the display of Asian kitchen utensils. But the only wok covers I saw were clearly meant for the industrial size version and not for my puny home kitchen. I would say the store is not for everyone. If you love kitchen equipment, you'll enjoy browsing here and snagging cookware that you can't find anywhere else. For everyone else, most likely you find it disappointing since most of the equipment can be found in your regular department store except these are heavy duty. you may not want to pay the higher expense for an item that's going to outlive you. Or maybe we should all buy here instead of caving to our culture of consumption.
