I have not to been to this Costco and the Business Center in Hayward since SIP started. I'm just wary of being around so many people and standing in a long line, again with lots of people. I'm not pushing my luck especially after escaping Covid19 when I flew to and from Asia in early March. I have been taking advantage however of their Same Day Grocery partnership with Instacart. I've ordered twice now and both times my groceries were delivered within 2 hrs. One time they had to sub regular eggs for the Organic Eggs that I wanted, and twice they didn't have baking products that I needed like brown sugar and Vanilla extract. I was able to get those elsewhere, but at a much higher price. My favorite things to get here are the Ribeyes, cheeses, eggs, salami and prosciutto mix, smoked salmon, avocados, Rao's Tomato Sauce, Butter, and etc...My freezer is so full of meat now, I don't have to shop for a while. I've been cooking and baking like crazy like everyone I know, but I need to cook down all that stuff in my freezer! Thank God for their grocery delivery service! I'm sure I'll be using it again in a few weeks. So convenient and a much safer option! read more

I had to mentally prepare myself to do this review. This place.... Whew.... I'm over coming here. The parking lot is always chaotic. It can take up to 20 minutes to find a park for ADA or close enough. The gas station lines are outrageous. They've cutie access from the main lot due to hindering normal customers from being able to get through the passage and find a park. Inside the store is congested with rude customers. Excuse me is not apart of their vocabulary. The greed behind the free samples is astounding. The rotisserie chickens can be limited certain days. However, despite people being lined up waiting there's always one who grabs ten or so chickens with a ton of people waiting behind them. Quite inconsiderate. These days every trip there's a price hike on any and everything. The items and aisles are forever being relocated. It's like a new store each visit. Just no cohesiveness. I'd rather drive to the business center for peace of mind and a much calmer shopping experience. Not every Costco carries all the same items. I've been on the prowl for the Zapp's Voodoo chips "The Deal Guy" on YouTube mentioned in his must buy items for July 2023. Three trips and haven't found them yet. read more

I came here last week, on an Instacart run, and found everything I needed with a little help from the employees. Great selections of mostly everything. Even the cashiers were polite, and it was super busy and fast-paced. My concern were the longest friggin lines, but I don't even know if that's the norm for Costco. read more

Typical grocery store. Usually lines are long and crowded. They a good meat selection if U.S. choice vs prime meat. Most of the produce is fresh. I haven't seen any fruits or veggies molded yet like I have at other grocery stores. They offer a good variety of organic products from produce to nuts to stuff in the frozen section. They have samples which is nice to try new products that they have. This time was nice because we got to sample the salmon! They were having a promotion of $9.99 per lb. For farm raised salmon. They only thing I don't like is that some products only come in organic so it is more expensive. Also sometimes when you find stuff you like and want it, they replace it with another new product so it's not consistent. I do also feel like I need to go to the grocery store to get the regular stuff too. They have a pharmacy for pet meds and human meds which is nice. The pharmacy though is closed all day Sunday. We get our dogs eye ointment here and in the past fluids for our other dog. read more

I recently came to this Costco and as always, was blown away with all the neat stuff they have. Farm raised abalone ($44) for 10 abalone that equates to 2.2 lbs. I've only had abalone in Hawaii so it was neat to see it but I have no clue how to cook it. Chicken and Rice Porridge ($7) for a 2-24 oz container. I grew up eating porridge, but I only ate it when I was sick. I remember my mom made it plain for me so I'm sure this Chicken and Rice Porridge is pretty tasty. Dragon Fruit drink ($10) 4 pack Liter. I love eating dragon fruit when I go to Hawaii but I think it's neat to see this. I wish my Costco in Woodland Hills had this. Teeling Whisky ($360) 24 YR 750 ML. My husband is a whisky drinker and he said that he's never heard of Teeling but out of all the whisky's he bought at Costco, they all have been good. Always enjoyed coming to this Costco but today had a really negative experience going through self check out 3/13/23 around 11:30am. Was watched and profiled at self checkout like I wasn't going to pay for my stuff. Some guy made a big scene in insisting on helping me through self check out as if I haven't been here a dozen times. This was one of the Costcos we would venture to when I was a kid. There wasn't a Hayward Costco yet. The only one was the Business Center. But I recently came here to check out a pair of glasses that were in stock to replace my current ones (same ones) as they are currently broken. I've been to a few other Costco Optical Departments before and this was the worst experience I've had. I felt really bad for the person helping me as she was trying to remove a screw to put in my current lenses. After a while, she asked help from the main person in the department and she was totally man handling these frames. One of my lenses was already in them and I was so afraid she'd break them with how rough she was with the frames. Well in the end, they ended up taking my lens out and putting it back into my current frames as they completely stripped the screw. (Mind you at the Hayward Costco the same thing happened...I think it's just a bad set of frames :( ) Well she was so curt and short with us as well as the original person we were working with. She was talking to us like it was our fault for the whole situation and we were only trying to explain or figure out what's happening as no one was speaking to us and my lenses were in the frames she was working on which I think the other worker didn't tell her that it was my lenses in there...so it was a really anxiety filled moment. Besides the horrible experience at the Optical Department, parking here was a mess as the gas station is in the back which basically blocks a few lanes of parking. I'm never coming back....unless there's something specifically here as it was just a nightmare of an experience. read more

At self check out they only have two open and an employee standing hovering over you like YOU'RE a criminal. There is a 6 feet rule you know? I went to self check out to have as little interaction with someone as possible. I didn't need help and didn't ask. This employee felt the need to tell me to scan my card and items before I even set down my items. How will I get my membership card without setting down my items and making my hands free? How can I take out my wallet without hands ? I don't need help or anyone telling me what to do. I am not a child. Rethink your policy Costco. We are adults, your customers, and members. Come here to get gas as the prices are more reasonable than other gas stations and you can usually get in and out of here in no time. You just have to use your Costco credit card to get gas. Weekends are busier than weekdays so if the line is short, go for it! read more

Costco, what can I say this place is the best. I want to give it 4 starts because it's Costco. It's clean, you can buy in bulk (though most families dont need that much stuff... but there is always a need for TP eh?) Anyways, this Costco is crowded like all of them and there are lines in the evenings and definitely on the weekends. But this rating is for Costco overall. The reason I give it 3 is because you always end up going to Costco for one thing and end up coming out of it with like 5 things... I guess it be like that sometimes. All in all, Costco is an awesome place to shop and get most of the supplies and everyday needs at. The tire center is also great because the prices are definitely affordable. Have your card physically present when about to shop. My family had to wait in line to verify membership, and ultimately drive home and back to prove that we indeed were members, despite being logged in to the Costco app. Manager said he was unable to help and presented himself with the same attitude stated in other reviews. Costco makes membership cancellation very challenging: I haven't used my Costco membership in over a year and when I tried to cancel it by phone I was told by a customer service person who said that she had checked with her supervisor to confirm that to cancel my membership, I need to come in person. Since I signed up for the membership on line during Covid (8/19/20) and hadn't had a good chance to come in to have a card made, coming in to Costco to cancel a membership for which I don't have a card, may be problematic, too. San Leandro Costco is busy but they have the front end staff and many gasoline pumps to manage the crowd as best they can. I tend to visit non-prime time and find it manageable. The usual excellent Costco selection is there and the prices are good. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would due to the horrible customer service I received on 6/25/2023! I have been to this Costco on several occasions and never had an issue till this last trip there. A cashier by the name of "CHEY" or "CHEYENNE" came at me as I was only waiting in line to pay about $500 worth of groceries. She very rudely told me to go to another line if I didn't want to wait when I had not said a word to her then she proceeded to cuss and behave in an extremely hostile manner. This review was only for today. Don't let this place fool you - parking and the store can be pure madness that has you swear off ever coming here but for today's purposes, it was a 5. Came in on Wednesday @ 9am, right when it opened. Parking - no problem. Clean cart - no problem. Walked around and grabbed the items I needed. I like to look at fruit prices because often times they are better than grocery store prices. Grabbed some salads on sale. Yay! I love how they have different items constant at dollars off. I was able to get some great protein powder for $8 bucks off - this is what I came for but left with $80 bucks worth of good deals. Lines were surprisingly - no problem. In / Out of this place. The parking at this Costco location is crazy! This parking lot is consistently packed! People waiting minutes for parking! Don't have patience, swerving to get out quickly. It's total chaos. Super annoying getting in & out. Take out like 15 minutes of your total time. Not even exaggerating! I miss living in Hayward because the Costco out there on Hesperian is much more better in every-way! Large parking lot, gas is in the front! Customer service is friendly! It's not super-super packed like this location. Plus this costco doesn't have a lot of the stuff I'd purchase when shopping at the Hayward location. They never have medium grain rice!! Months ago I complained about lack of proper mask-wearing at this warehouse. Today I went there to return something. An employee wearing her mask below her nose was standing close & questioning each customer in the return line. Since people normally breathe through their nose, wearing your mask beneath your nose is the same as not wearing a mask at all. When I arrived at the front of the line, the cashier twice removed her mask and YELLED questions at another employee. (This is especially dangerous, since the louder you talk, the farther the virus is spread.) Then she wiped her nose with her finger, and turned to help me without putting her mask back on. I don't think I'll ever visit a Costco in the bay area ever again, after 1030am. Horrendous - took almost 90 minutes to get in and out of there when all I needed were 4 items and to pump gas. This is partly because there aren't enough workers to enforce indecent driver behaviors in the parking lot like dropping off a shopper, or to answer customer inquiries at the entry and exit area. Without enough workers, all it takes is one person to need help and then you don't have enough people checking out customers, and a similar terrible-flow concept applies at the entry area. I have been coming here for years and it has always been great here. The things you buy here is almost always cheaper than anywhere else with the only caveat being that you buy in larger quantities. The $5 chicken tastes great like always. The gas prices are cheaper than everywhere else. With that said, this place is always jam packed and you should always expect a long line. This is by far the busiest costco in the bay area. It might even be the busiest costco I've ever been to. It's in the heart of Oakland and San Leandro. I have to admit even when it's super crowded during the holidays, they always manage to get you in and out pretty fast. They also built additional parking spots to meet the demand which is great. Do not buy tires from Costco. It may be $50 cheaper than everywhere else. But after waiting two weeks to get an appointment scheduled for my tire install. I showed up to my 430 appointment and they tell me it will take over two hours to get the tires installed. I am now just sitting in the parking lot! It's been two hours and 15 minutes and still no word on when I will get out of here. Not worth the minor savings on $1000 worth of tires. Why do they even bother scheduling appointments for five minutes worth of work if you still have to wait over two hours before the work is done! They also tell you if you are 15 minutes late, you will have to reschedule, but they are happy to make you sit in the parking lot for well over two hours. read more

Of all the Costco's I've been to, the customer service here is poor. I had a return and was made to stay outside in the mainline. When I finally was supposed to be helped, the cashier sent me to checkstand 51. The girl at 51 was trying to not help me, until I said I was sent to her. Imagine making disabled patrons wait in the cold in a line to get to the Returns only to make them stand in an entirely separate line. And, there's no signage! When I tried to give feedback, the Supervisor wasn't even trying to hear it and said her manager doesn't care what customers think either. I believe that since Costco stopped allowing customers to email complaints. I probably spend $20-30k/year and I'm disgusted with how they treat us. Keep disappointing us and US HIGH SPENDERS WILL LEAVE. Maybe bad reviews will make them put signage out to direct SAME-DAY returns. read more

WARNING!! This Costco location does not safely social distance! It's often crowded and hard to maintain 6 feet of safe distance. The register lines are not clearly marked to keep safe distance. The aisles are not directional. You have to pass people within 2 feet sometimes less. Its chaotic and unsafe. There are ZERO 62% alcohol cleaning products available as of 6/24/20 (no lysol, no clorox wipes and no antibacterial soaps).. DO NOT SHOP THIS LOCATION. Yes, it's Costco. 99% the same as pretty much every Costco. Even the one I stumbled into in Seville Spain. $5 Rotisserie chicken! $1.50 weenies! With the mildest onions on earth! Toilet paper! Toilet paper! Towels too! Samples! Go around 11 on a week day and lurk. On weekends, you can spend as much time parking as shopping. Costco nearly always has what you want, just four times as much of it. For less than half the price elsewhere. Pile it on! There are the mission oriented shoppers, who pick up their chicken, soap, coffee & TP and go home. Then there are the "got time to burn" nomads like me. There's great stuff in those aisles, much of it changing. But there's no in-store app to tell you what's where. No doubt on purpose to keep the impulse purchase fires burning. Okay...came to costco for the usual toilet paper and paper towels but of course left $220 later...well not too bad as i bought dog food, and 2 different dog treats for the 'kids'. Of course you can't leave Costco without at least one of the items: a hot dog, slice of pizza or a churro! That's until my friend and I came across Harold, "the turkey, provolone and pesto sammich pimp" telling us about their new item and how good it is.. Harold: hey, can i interest you in trying the new turkey sandwich? me: Eh, I want my pizza! Harold: you can get that any day...gotta try the new sandwich! Let me break it down for you...Then proceeded to talk "food porn"....melted cheese..open up the sammich... oooey and gooey, fresh turkey, with pesto...." me and friend: nah..not feeling it.... Harold: ah come on guys...would i steer you wrong? Its sooo good! me and friend: maybe...why do you get points? Harold: yup! [that got us there because he was so funny!] [insert 3-way highfives] Gosh darn you SOLD us....[thinking...i sure did want pizza]. But you know, this guy is sooo passionate about his job, friendly and convinced us it was tasty...how could one resist? Needless to say, my friend and i got one [me thinking to self 'suckas']....oh MY! it was sooooo YUMMY! And oddly i generally don't like turkey!
