We are longtime Costco fans and often make a point to stop at one during our travels. On this trip, our visit with family was a bit longer than usual, so we decided to pick up several items we knew we would need, with the intention of leaving the extras behind for family members. When we lived in the area, we regularly shopped at the old Costco location on Mission Street. In 2022, Costco relocated to Kuebler Boulevard, offering a much larger footprint along with an expanded fuel station. This was our first visit to the new location. We were immediately impressed by the spacious parking lot, which made getting in and out far easier than we remembered. Inside, the store felt open, well organized, and easy to navigate. We were able to quickly locate everything on our list, reinforcing one of the things we appreciate most about Costco--their remarkable consistency from one location to the next. In the food court area, we also noticed Costco Pickup Lockers. These lockers provide a convenient, contactless way to retrieve online orders or prescriptions. Using a unique code sent via text or email, members can bypass lines and access secure lockers, even after regular hours on certain days, such as Sundays. It's a thoughtful addition that adds flexibility and convenience for busy shoppers. Overall, this new Costco location is a significant improvement over the previous one and a great example of how Costco continues to enhance the member experience. read more

I have no idea why costco.is ranked so low. I loved my experience twice ive gone here. The only gripe i have is they dont sale poki like my other Costco did. Otherwise staff is nice, store looked clean and stocked, and samples everywhere! Great prices and lots of variety of food. Also thier pizza i live so much not to mention their mocha slushy thing is awesome. I love costco. read more

Often a bit crowded, and products get moved around too much for my liking so that it can be hard to find things. Like, I would have never thought to look for the maple syrup in the pharmacy section. But I get good deals here, and save money. And the self-checkout makes it easier to get only a few things at a time, as I need them, rather than waiting until I have a long list. read more

Who doesn't love Costco? We have been coming to this location more often as it's a bit less hectic and the staff is always friendly. This store is always well organized, clean and has a great selection of products. With the holidays around the corner the goods are plentiful and fun to browse. Costco, (New) Salem location. Full disclosure. I have been a paid Costco (1997) / Price-Costco (1993) / Price Club member and big fan since 1986. I loved the big-box membership stores then, and I love them today. Before there was a Price Club, I was a member of CAL Stores, Fedco (Federal Employees' Distributing Company, died in 1999) and Fedmart (before they dropped the membership requirement, died in 1982. Fedmart was founded by the same guy who later started Price Club). So I am, admittedly, old, and biased. These membership stores are in my DNA. They complete me. :) So what's so great? More-than-competitive pricing and savings, quality, excellent return policy, travel center (we book all our cruises through Costco Travel. Costco returns part of the agent's cut (roughly about ten-percent) to you in the form of a Costco Gift Card, after completing the cruise - an excellent perk!), the snack bar (really should be listed, collectively, as one of the top 100 places to eat in the USA), superior and consistent customer service, oversized shopping carts (so I can buy more and more) ... what is not to love? Five Stars. But wait, there's more! Do not forget the Costco Gas Stations. Here in Salem, the lowest per-gallon price, fast, courteous attended service (self service is available), excellent quality gasoline. Another Five-Stars. Also, Costco has a relationship with T-Mobile, a kiosk in the Salem store, and a toll-free number on the Costco website. I called the toll-free number, and upgraded the family's iPhones 12s to iPhone 16s, upgraded our T-Mobile phone plan to the current plan, received current incentives, and saved over $100 per phone, through Costco, in an hour, from my desk at home. Samples as far as the eye can see.... Tip: try and go during the week before they close, less lines and not the weekend crowd. You know what to expect from Costco, great deals, lines, samples, samples and samples. Muffins to be shared with coworkers or just enough for a long work trip. This isn't about a recent experience, but for the most part: i have always received the best of customer service at costco. it's literally my favorite place to shop. You never have the same novelty items twice, but it's always of the same category. and it always varies! Some things are pricier than others. Having the big business background, I understand you don't always have a say. He was going to quit working for me to work for you because you paid more. & recently i was informed that he doesn't work there anymore. I put 5 starts so the review could stay up. But I would give this Costco a 1/5 starts. Horrible experience. I go in everyday with a smile and the cashiers are always with a horrible attitude just because I'm an instacart shopper. Wya difference does it make if I'm a shopper or an instacart shopper? Either way the groceries are paid for already. And to make it worse I'm an executive member personally with a Costco credit card. My significant other and I went to grab a few things last weekend and it was a nightmare. I have never felt so harassed at a Costco. They checked our cards (both have a membership, same account) 6 freaking times! 1. When we arrived (normal) 2. When we got in line to checkout 3. When we got closer to the self check out. 4. At the self check out itself (normal) 5. By the self check out attendant person. 6. By the people at the door checking receipts. And then had our receipt checked twice for a total of 8 items that were under $100. The employees give zero customer service. Stopped for a quick grocery haul on our way to Portland and was able to get everything except for eggs , which are anyways a luxury item these days and hard to find . I renewed my membership online and thought it would be nice to buy my daughter an Executive Acct (like I had) and began to purchase it online, except it mixed up her information with mine, so I called Customer Service online and he told me that I had to purchase a Basic Account and I could "UPGRADE" when I got to check out, which I did. When I logged in to re-add my grandson, I realized the new account was cancelled and my account was mixed up with my daughter's information. I was on the phone for over 2 hours attempting to get my info straight, talking to different people. It was not until 2 hours later, the 4th person I talked to told me it was cancelled because you cannot buy an Executive Acct for anyone else, and the I would have to go into the Warehouse to straighten out my account and to re-add my grandson, who already has a card on my account, that got dropped when I added my daughter's card. This has turned into a whole cluster f*ck all because Costco employees have no idea how to help people if you call them. I spent over 2 hours on this issue, and I STILL have to go into the warehouse to straighten things out. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, they left me on hold for over 5 minutes, only to say the supervisor would not come to the phone because there was nothing they could do. This was the worst customer service I have ever had from the staff at Costco. read more

Every time one of my doctors calls in a new prescription, it seems they have to order it and it takes a day or day and a half to get the medicine in. It is very frustrating as I switched to this pharmacy to save time. It doesn't seem to be happening with new prescriptions. This has happened to the last 2 or 3. I now have a local infection in my ear and am 3 weeks out from a full knee replacement. This is not ok to have to wait over a day for the medication. I was briefly in Costco today and saw that about 1/4 of the shoppers were not wearing masks. I asked one of the workers about it, and he said that they were not enforcing the mask requirement. This place is getting worse and worse all the time. I've seen it for the last 8 months how employees are just flat rude and disrespectful. It's certainly not the Costco that I've grown to love. Now the latest is there's no more gas station attendants. It's all self-serve and what a cluster. There's literally total chaos and it takes an hour to get fuel now. I will never buy fuel there again and I hope this hurts their bottom line all the way around. The Costco food court is amazing. The hotdog is so juicy and cheap. I don't think i'll ever have a better hotdog. Titus recommends you get the beef to bun ratio correct before you eat it. I definitely recommend the Costco food court. read more

When this Costco opened up in the early 90s to a booming area of Salem's Industrial District, the parking lots have never been more full. At some point, I would expect them to open another Costco just to keep up with the demand as parking and traffic around here is consistently a mess. On the weekends this place is a zoo, with people jamming up the place in search for the next deal (in bulk). Staff for the most part are very helpful here and there are plenty of them. Its places like this that inspired the movie "Employee of the Month" to be made, the employees look like they could totally fit in that movie, I'm just looking for the Dane Cook wannabe attempting to court the sweet Jessica Simpson type in the break room. That said, I once attempted to apply for a job here, but was turned down because I was also going to school. Tsk Tsk. Who can hate on the food court? With prices like $1.50 for a hot dog and a drink and free samples all around the warehouse, its no wonder my coworkers would venture here to eat "lunch" to save an extra penny while making rounds in the "Costco Buffet." This is really about Costco online. About a month ago they were running a "buy two appliances" receive a shop card incentive. i bought a washer & dryer and learned today that this is not two appliances in the eyes of Costco corporate. it is a "set" and only counts as 1 appliance (yet one could buy these items separately). Then they refused to install the dryer because they brought a 4 prong plug and my dryer outlet is a 3 prong. So, i had to purchase a separate plug and hire someone else to do the install. The guy who installed it showed me how the DEFAULT plug set up for this dryer is 3 prong (though one could also wire in a 4 prong plug). I now feel ripped off, as i had to spend extra money and didn't receive the promo. Very misleading. read more

I understand that the State of Oregon is now allowing us to pump our own gas, but to just stop staffing your gas stations without advance notice, and I mean 30-45 days notice, is very disappointing. Your Costco card scanners on the pump are not operational and no instruction is present to show where to scan your card or how to orient it to be read correctly. And if I am doing the work that your staff used to do, then I expect to pay less at your pumps. You need to do better! read more

Costco apparently has a big sale this week on dead auto batteries. I bought two, neither of which worked because neither of them had a charge despite their representations to the contrary. Went to Walmart and had a functioning charged battery in the Honda in less than 10 minutes. i'll buy some gas at Costco and if I'm ever in the market for a dead car battery, I might consider them, but it when it comes to actually functioning batteries or other automotive services I will pass them by as an unreliable vendor. read more

This Costco location is constantly out of stock of items, especially if it's in the coupon book. I'm not referring to essential items that have limits which can be understandably hard to come by at all stores, but things that other locations have in stock like hair primer, sliced almonds, tableware, food containers, frozen seafood, refrigerated meat, vitamins...those are just a few of the categories (that I wanted specific items from) that I can think of right now. If you want things from the coupon book, you will definitely not get everything you want. Thought going in the middle of or towards the end of the sale was why I couldn't get it all but nope, tried going on the first day & they didn't get some items it in at all yet! I've lived here for years & it's been like this since pre-COVID. They've been here for decades so you'd think over time that they could adjust how much is ordered to keep up with the demands of a place that caters to a population that doesn't fluctuate much or overlap with other areas as much either (i.e. If you live & work in Salem or Keizer, you probably go to this one & not Wilsonville or Albany. Versus if you live in Aloha, you might go to Hillsboro, Aloha or Tigard, even more likely if you work or hang out towards another location). And most of the time, they'll let you know that Albany has them as if it's a hop, skip & a jump away. Round trip, that's actually over 40 minutes (as well as 40 miles) from this Costco...not a quick feat. I wish Albany was closer, they really do keep stuff in stock much better! Over 90% of the items that I couldn't find in Salem, they had it in Albany. Wanted something that was discontinued, Albany had it. Seasonal items that ran out fast, plenty in Albany. Coupon item, more than likely in Albany. Every once in awhile, I'll trek out to Albany out of frustration with Salem. Or if I go to Portland to hang out, I'll plan to stop at one there or along the way...which is kind of sad that I can't rely on my home Costco & budget time from an out-of-town trip to get what I would like. read more

Monthly stops to Costco for the bulk items for our family really saves money throughout the year. From electronics and exercise equipment to food, many of our large purchases are made through Costco. Their employees are always willing to help me find an item or help load the large items in my vehicle. The Salem Costco suffers from parking congestion and a poorly designed traffic pattern surrounding their gas islands. Provided you are patient (or at least can act like it for 5 minutes), it is not too difficult manuavering through the lines. By parking on the edges you will save yourself a lot of hastle with the folks who "have to park right at the door". read more

I am sure that everyone is aware of the devastating fires sweeping through California and Oregon. Well, most of my Oregon family has been displaced for the last 7 days. My parents, aunt, brother, cousins, great cousins, and friends we call family were evacuated in the middle of the night. No time to pack, just get out immediately. My parents did not have a RV like most of my family members. They literally left in their truck with the dog, medications, a case of water and a bag of masks. I can't even imagine the fear these people have had not knowing if they will have a home to come back to. After two days of camping out with family and friends, my parents were lucky to get into a hotel room, thanks to my brother. Today, they had a knock on their hotel room door. The local Costco (Salem, Oregon) along with the amazing staff at Santiam Hospital delivered this care package to people evacuated and displaced by these fires. There are no words to express the thoughtfulness of this company. My parents are 80 and this is not easy for them, or anyone for that matter. Thanks Costco for such a generous gift. It's great to see acts of kindness in a time of such tragedy and heartache. Be safe everyone. read more

The Food court needs some help. The cashier was wearing gloves and taking peoples cash and with same gloves on she was handing people their cups and lids. The other lady that was doing the food should also be the one handing the cups out. A person who handles money should not be handling anything that is good or drink related. I asked her if she would please not touch my cup or lid because she just handled cash from the person in front of me and she was very nice and washed her hands and put new gloves on. In order for gloves to work if she is going to handle cups and lids and money then she would need to change gloves a lot and wash her hands so I recommend she not do both.. other than that my cashier who rang my groceries up was very sweet and kind so was her partner.. read more
