great prices? check great service? check free food samples? nomnomnom crowded? yes, but what Costco location isn't? However, the #1 best thing about this location is that it has 6 SELF CHECKOUT stations. this is incredibly great when I just want to run in and out with an item or 2 and all the checkout lanes are bogged down with customers. there's always a Costco employee monitoring the self checkout and helps to move it along. if they see that you have some larger items in your cart, they'll come over and scan them with the portable scanner and get you all set up. On the negative side - the gas station at this location sometimes has broken pumps. they'll put up a sign letting you know, which is great, but by the time you wait in line during peak hours and actually see the sign, you're already too late. surprisingly though, lunchtime is a great time to fill up here. the lines are minimal, if any at all, and I can get in and out quickly. read more

This is a great Costco. The employees are friendly and the service is fast. I went in got what I needed, and was out in 10 minutes. Props to the Food Court staff, they were all working hard and deserve praise. Often overlooked as an important part of Costco. I like their selection but was very disappointed with the checkout process today. They turned me away from self-checkout twice because I had too many items even though there were empty registers at self-checkout and waiting for the other added 15 minutes to my shopping time. When the customer in front of me finished checking out I had to wait for her to hear a sales pitch on the executive membership. If this is the new norm, I'll shop here less often. read more

This particular Costco location in the DFW area (next to Ilsan, Korea) is my favorite! The other locations don't carry the seafood mix, don't always carry the organic driscolli strawberries (a pesticide laden dirty dozen item), or the Layla Farms drinkable yogurts. Also, this place has gelato (too sweet for my tastes, but a nice treat for hubby and daughter). In addition, they are careful when placing my items in boxes (lewisville smashed my strawberries once). Their customer service is also better than the Lewisville and East Plano locations; they're on par with Southlake. I prefer Costco above Sam's because they carry a lot of organic items and not only do I get quantity, their items are generally of better quality as well. They're like the Nordstrom's of supermarkets - if you are not completely satisfied with an item, simply return it. If you've lost your receipt, they'll look through your membership transactions history and promptly refund you. This is a family friendly haven! read more

Wow! Visited this location today with my fiancé. We went to the Vision Center to renew his glasses and contacts prescription. Sara assisted us and she was phenomenal. She has the absolute best personality I've ever seen from Costco employee. She went above and beyond to help my fiancé find the perfect fit and style of glasses for his face shape. She was super knowledgeable and very confident in everything she talked about from style to size to lenses. Sara made us feel like she genuinely cared about our needs/wants. She built great rapport with us. We left Costco today feeling like we made a friend. We will definitely always return to THIS Costco and ask for Sara to assist us in the vision center for all our vision needs in the future. This is the CostCo I go to regularly. It has a large parking lot with a gas station and is easy to access from several major street. It also has an optometrist and liquor store attached. Inside, it is a typical Costco variety of items. The cashier in the universally friendly and it's seldom seems too crowded. All in all, one of my favorite CostCos. read more

Costco (one of my fav stores) deserves a review. I have not had a steak since COVID started and today with my wife to restock on what's needed. And we walked across the ribeye and the tenderloin and we picked a pack of each. I grilled them on my Traeger pro grill and I started doing my happy dance on the first bite. I just recently got a Costco membership at this store and I have not been disappointed. Everyone there is very friendly. They keep the store very clean, stocked and presentable. The woman at the membership counter was amazing. She spent 15 minutes explaining all of the types of available membership options and what the benefits of each were. This Costco is not our "home" location, but it's conveniently located near my office and was convenient today, as we were leaving the Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco. For the most part, if you've been in one Costco, you've been in them all, but there are some definite layout differences. This location has the candy/energy bar/snacks aisles positioned perpendicular to the main aisles; I'm not sure if this is a win or not. The visit I'm basing this review on was Sunday, February 28th, last day of the month and last day of the current coupon mailer cycle, so the place was just packed. These aisles let some of the "overflow" from the checkout lines have a place to go, but it hampered access to the products as well. Two things I've never seen at Costco: A dirty/unkempt store, and unhappy employees. I honestly don't know how they do it, but I swear, the stores are impeccable, and employees will go out of their way to help you. For the most part, the products are laid out in a logical fashion, and the aisles are wide to accommodate three wide or more of those huge carts. As for the products themselves, their Kirkland Signature products are almost always of very high quality and value. My current favorite is the Kirkland Stir Fry vegetables mix; delicious and healthy, with a great mix of premium vegetables without a lot of cheap vegetable filler. Finally, as far as differentiating this location from other Costco warehouses: This location is smack in the middle of the "hoity-toity" area of Plano, and as such, some of the unique items are geared towards the well-heeled crowd. Today, they had a selection of beautiful handmade Polish glazed pottery; while the style wasn't really our thing, it was was fascinating to look at and some of it was priced to sell, while other pieces drew bigger prices. Still, Costco can be a great value if you buy wisely and stick to your list. Edit: After reading the other reviews, I can't believe I forgot this, but my biggest gripe about Costco by far: I call it "Shopping in Russia", with the sub-slogan "You will take what we have, and you will LIKE it!". Part of their "formula" to strike the balance between price and quality is limited SKUs (I believe I've heard a target figure of 5,000, which is far fewer than other large retailers), and if a product doesn't sell big, it's outta there! If you like it, and it's there, you'd better buy, because there may not even be a place on the shelf for it next time. read more

It's no secret that I absolutely heart me some Costco, ESPECIALLY this location!!! The staff here are tried and true. It's nice to shop at a location where you have seen the staff for well over a decade. They are always friends and eager to help in any way possible. Costco keeps me fridge, freezer, pantry, and liquor cabinet stocked. They have the best prices for the quality, which is always top notch. Don't skip the clothing/shoes section either, or the flowers in the spring. With all the good I have some tips for surviving your trip here. ALWAYS come early and if you can, the weekday is the best bet. Yes you will miss you on some samples, but the lines can get long as this location is a DFW favorite. Don't say I didn't warn you! Love this Costco! The staff are always so friendly and greets you with a smile. Their return policy is great. They can look up the receipt for the items if you lost it by just using your card number. The tire center staff very helpful in getting my car tire fixed as well. I suggest booking an appointment because their walk ins take anywhere between 1-3 hours to fix the tires but if you have an appointment, usually they do the job in 45 mins and you can have a stroll around the store in the meantime. read more

So me and my fiancé decided to sign up for a membership here on Tuesday the 26th. The employee that signed us up for our membership did not return our licenses to us. I called the very next day asking them for our license. They advised they did not have them... I decided to drive up to the store the next day to see if we could locate them and upon arrival they decide to tell me that they shred them after 24hours for identity protection.... if they would have held them when I called less than 24 hours after they were kept they would not have been shredded. I don't need no stinking badges!" Pick out all the beer and wine you want, walk to the front, and say, "No, I do not have a membership," and you pay and walk out. We purchased a large (& very heavy) garden furniture set from this Costco location. After getting it home & returning the rental truck we found that it was both damaged & parts were missing. We called Costco & they asked if they could call us back after the weekend. Monday at 9am the phone rang, "would it be a good time to come over with a new dining set?" Within the hour 2 store employees showed up with the replacement in their personal pickup! But the story doesn't end there. The replacement set also had the same parts missing, the guys placed a call to the manufacturer who rather tersely informed them that the pieces would take 6 weeks to deliver! "That's not good" they said & headed off to Home Depot, returning a few minutes later with a big bag of parts with which they built our furniture. They refused to take any money for their efforts. How could ANYONE rate this Costco anything less than 5 stars??? This place is fantastic. They have great products that their buyers do a great job selecting. And, you can count on getting an amazing value in whatever you buy... From electronics, to clothes, to food, to flowers, to gas, to tires. You name it. What's more, their employees are helpful and knowledgeable and always make sure you have an exceptional customer experience. As an example, last week a customer in front of me grabbed the last unit of product, so I went to the front desk to ask if they had any more anywhere. No, they didn't, but what they did do was call every store in the area, round up every unit they could find and had them brought to the store for pick up. Now that's customer service. And another call out for the guys in the tire shop. Not only do they do the work, but they have the people skills to handle the never ending stream of customers too. Plus, their return policy is unbelievable. They certainly stand behind their products, whether they are the wrong size, didn't work as intend, you didn't like it, or if you just changed your mind, then they'll take it back. I can honestly say that I have an exceptional experience every time I visit Costco West Plano. How many places have you gone where you can say that? Just can't believe some of these negative reviews. "Too crowded" Well that's because it's a great place, duh! Go shop somewhere else please. "I had this incident today" Hey moron, these reviews are about your entire experience, not your one-off experience. "I didn't like this product" it's not their fault, just take it back. It must be the ultimate sign of true domestication to be writing a review about Costco, of all places. When you buy in bulk, it's sign that you don't do enough partying. But anyhow... I will be up front and say I haven't been in a Sam's Club in years, so I can't compare them. Here is what I like about Costco: 1. A surprisingly good selection of vegetarian/healthy eating friendly foods. They have Morningstar veggie sausages that my hubby eats for breakfast almost every morning, so that's cool. They have several other brands of vegetarian foods as well, including little frozen burritos that I am addicted too. Gross, I know. 2. Good wine selection WITH wine ratings. No doubt there are far better wine selections out there, but for people who live within our budget range, Costco is pretty darn good. We like reading the amusing wine descriptions and pretty much buy all of our wine at Costco. 3. We live in a Costco sandwich, with one about 10 minutes East of us and one about 10 minutes West of us. Sweet. 4. Free samples! I love free samples! Especially when it involves cheese or pretzels. Or booze. But I don't think they give booze samples at Costco. What I don't like about Costco: 1. On the weekends it is SO CROWDED and almost everyone there is an idiot who stands in the middle of the aisle with their stupidly HUGE cart and you can't get around them. Ugh. That is the biggest pet peeve. Pick your shopping times carefully! 2. Limited forms of payment. Debit card, AMEX or checks only. Well, I guess cash too, but who pays for their Costco merch with cash? 3. They are apt to change their stock abruptly. You can buy something regularly for a year and all of the sudden they won't carry it anymore. That is a bummer. Overall, we definitely think Costco is worth the membership. I am a faithful Costco member and I love getting my necessities in bulk. It is very rare I have a bad experience with any Costco Club but....on this occasion it was different. For some reason EVERYONE had a bad attitude that day. I literally went into Costco to get less than 10 items which of course cost me $100 bucks. The guy that checked me out did not say anything to me besides how much the items cost. So, I asked him how he was doing, he said he was having a bad day due to some irate customers. Well Costco had only been open for about 2 hours at the time so I guess he was going to have a very long day. After that encounter I went to grab a hot dog from the food counter and once again the person that helped me didn't greet me either. So, I just knew the person that checks your basket and receipt was going to be nice....Ummmm noooooo. Look, I completely understand people having a bad day but 3 different Costco representatives did not provide any customer service at all which is just terrible overall. read more

Costco is the bomb.com. Better than Kroger. Better than Albertsons. Better than Wallyworld. Some things to note: - Rotisserie chicken - Best thing you can buy for $5. Bar none. Ever. This chicken is so succulent, so juuuiiiicccyy. I feel like Yan from Yan Can Cook. The chicken is the biggest out of all the supermarkets I have gone to AND the cheapest AND the best tasting. I will buy one of these beasts, cook some rice, some veggies and eat off it for days. Chicken sandwiches, no problem! Do yourself a favor and try one. Free samples on the weekends. Um...yea? You might as well come here and have lunch....FOR FREE! I will sit next to the sausages and take free sample after free sample. And the best part...THE EMPLOYEES DON'T CARE!!! Their cafe. Ok...so it's really simple food. But it's really simple food for HELLA CHEAP. Their pizzas are pretty good. $1.50 for a nice sized hotdog and drink. The chicken bake is....DELISH. If I didn't try to eat healthy, I'd probably want to eat here everyday to keep my wallet from being bulimic. And TVs you buy from there have a lifetime warranty yo. If it screws up, RETURN IT! I'm totally planning taking advantage of the extra storage space my house will provide so I decided that we should get Costco memberships right away! No offense to you Sam's club, but I pass a Costco on the way home so they totally win the battle in the "ease of accessibility" contest and therefore my business. We stopped in here on Saturday afternoon - which I'm sure is there busiest time and picked up a membership. We planned on getting the regular one, but the girl sold us on the more expensive one with promises of a 2% return on any purchases we make during the year - guaranteed to be at least $50 - which is the difference in price between the special membership and the regular one. Sold. We got our pics taken and our handy dandy cards and we were off! We wandered aimless and picked up a bunch of random house-ish stuff that we didn't know we needed until we saw it, but we also saw alot of things we really did need and we got those too. We skipped the food section since we're not going to stock the freezer just yet, but I did pick up a bottle of wine :) I heard that they have REALLY good prices on beer there too, but I didn't look because I wasn't in the market for beer. Overall - your typical bulk-members only store - nothing that wowed me - yet, but nothing that turned me off either. :) read more

What's not to love about Costco? You can get a ton of stuff in bulk for a much better price than you'll find elsewhere. The only downside to this is that pretty much everything is in bulk other than the clothes and furniture. So if you don't have a small army to feed, then you might be better off buying most of your food from a regular grocery store. I really like their salads, mac & cheese, danishes, cakes, and muffins that they make in their own kitchen/bakery area. Minus one star for the workers in the check out line who, with good intentions of being quick and efficient, snatch items out of your hand/basket and end up getting your things mixed up with someone else's. read more

Sugar Bear and I buy our food almost exclusively at the Coppell Farmers Market. We were wary of the weekly grocery store excursions for odds and ends in addition to the farmers market, so we decided to get a Costco membership to cut down on our store visits. I love stocking up on non-food essentials at Costco! It is a money saving endeavor as well because we buy fewer 'non-list' items than we did on our weekly trips to the grocery store. They also have a great selection of healthy and organic items, and these will be helpful in the winter when the farmers market is closed. There is a rather dazzling selection of wine and beer. I could not be more impressed with that area! The selection is very well chosen for a variety of price ranges. Lots of good stuff here, and as Ryan B. noted, you do not need a membership to buy beer and wine at Costco! The only down side to Costco would be the crowds on the weekend. It can be pure hell to get through the store, and the long lines at the end of the shopping venture always appear daunting...they move quickly and efficiently though, so it is not the insufferable experience it initially appears to be. Sugar Bear rewards himself for making it though our monthly Costco trips, without going ballistic, by getting a super cheap hot dog meal. For him, this is the highlight of our Costco experience!
