There are no shortage of terrible reviews for Costco's tire department (across all stores it seems) so when I scheduled a tire balance and rotation I had low expectations. I am happy to say that my experience was a positive one. While it was busy all the employees were helpful and working as quickly as they could. I was checked in at 2pm and told it would take an hour. This was enough time for me to browse around Costco and grab a slice of pizza. 50 mins later I got a call that my car was ready and off I went. Weekends I imagine can get pretty rough. I went on a Wednesday afternoon and there was still a line of waiting customers when I walked in. My advice is to use Costco's online tire appointment website and choose a location with the most availability for the day you want. I drove about 10 miles further than my nearest Costco but this store was the "least" busy. It probably saved me a lot of time and headache. read more

I am a little bit of an addict. Costco is my happy place and I love the high quality goods, great deals and awesome customer service. I came back to return something and two people walking past asked if I needed a hand. Same thing happened when we bought a sofa set today. The guys in the shop were really helpful and volunteered to assist with loading the pickup. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Love the Kirkland baby wipes, the Christmas gift hampers, cheese, party food options, seasoning, baby clothes... and of course the $1.50 hot dog and drink. Clean store, everything you could want, and many services in one. We filled up on gas, had tire pressure checked, and sampled some interesting food items. One thing I especially enjoy about Costco is that they don't just dump a bunch of crap into their sample trays. Someone is actually there cooking you some wantons or blending you a smoothie. Not a bad place to pop a squat. 3 stalls for pooping, multiple urinals, paper towels and hand dryers are just a few of the amenities you'll find in the Costco restrooms. I love their trough style sinks as well. I have pooped here many times and not been disappointed. I have to knock them 1 star though for the lack of music. Coming from california, I see this place to be crowded most of the time. Customer service is almost rude ..probably for heavy rush. You get all regular stuff like any Costco place. Customer Service at the membership desk was rude and had terrible attitudes. Associate Phil had a terrible attitude and was very rude to myself and others at the membership desk. Costco is great, in general. Being from CA, my main takeaways from this Costco location are the following: 1. Optometry services are located in a separate but connected area (like the tire center) 2. Liquor are also located in a separate but connected area (again, like the tire center). I assume this place is closed on Sunday. 3. Food court is indoors, located as soon as you finish paying 4. It is located along Central expressway, so it's a little weird going in and out (I'm still getting used to surface highways so bear with me). 5. It is so quiet during the weekday! On the weekends, it is a little more busier. Being a new homeowner, we bought a good number of essential items here (stools, liners, lights, batteries, linens, etc) as well as warm clothing and some food! Every time we come here, we also get the pizza and hot dog (best deal ever). So far, this Costco, now our home Costco, has served us well. read more

Pizza cornicione (the edge) is so big you wonder if they are making the pizza like that in purpose so they don't put too many pepperoni on the slice or the equipment is defective causing the crust to enlarge or the cook doesn't know how to make pizza @ 3800 N Central Expy, Plano. I'm a committed Costco fan! Even though I live alone now, it's totally worth paying the Executive membership fee because I shop here so often. The quality is always outstanding and I love the value I always get at Costco. A few items I love: Gasoline - Always the cheapest around, sometime by as much as 10 cents/gallon Roast chicken - Always $5, and much bigger than the small ones you see at other stores Milk - Great quality and always as cheap or cheaper than other stores Toilet paper/Paper towels - If you have room, stock up! Protein drinks - 30 grams of protein, very little sugar Salmon or chicken burgers - Quick, easy, affordable and healthy entrée Frozen veggies - Healthy and affordable, great quality Eco-friendly dish and laundry soap If you've spent all of your money (at Costco or elsewhere), and are in a "fat grams be damned" mood, you can always get the famous hot dog and a soda for $1.50. If you're feeding a crew, order the $9.99 pizzas when you walk in, buy everything else you need (sodas, desserts, etc.) and pick them up when you walk out. As cheap as any low-end pizza and much better quality. Grab a bagged salad from the produce cooler room (the very best place to visit on a hot summer day!) and you have a good meal. If you need cake for a crowd, the sheet cake at about $18 is a great buy and really good. They don't offer all the decorating options your neighborhood shop might, but they cover the basics. Just don't forget they close at 6 on the weekends! (Yes, I did!) I find it hard to buy electronics anywhere else. First, you aren't overwhelmed with options. They only carry the best and most popular devices, and thanks to the volume, their prices are great. You can't beat the Costco Concierge service! When you get home and get your goodies out of the box, call the Concierge number and they'll walk you through connecting it to your network or other devices, even if you didn't buy them at Costco. They are kind, patient, and unlike most help desk people, don't assume you're stupid. The warranty is what really seals the deal. The manufacturer usually gives you a one year warranty. Costco gives you another year, and if you buy with your Costco Visa, you get a four year warranty. I also appreciate the optical shop, tire store, pharmacy, online shopping and everything else others have mentioned, but honestly, I don't have time to go into everything I love about Costco. Suffice to say, if they sell it, it's very good, and usually the best value available. Yes, it gets crazy on the weekends - so if that bothers you - DON'T GO ON THE WEEKENDS! COSTCO TIRE SHOP I have been a Costco customer for a long time and I thoroughly enjoy shopping there. Unfortunately, last few times when I took my cars for rotate and balance, they came back stating they cannot rotate since front tires have a mechanical issue. I told them that last time also they told me the same for the two tires and I had to beg and plead to them to honor the warranty since they were saying that I did not did all my rotate and balance on a regular basis at Costco. I showed them paperwork from other places where I did the oil change and they did complementary tire rotation. Finally, they agreed to give me partial credit for warranty. This time around they told me the same MECHANICAL PROBLEM with the tires and when I asked them to replace the tires and honor the warranty. They started with the same argument and finally did not agree to honor the warranty and asked me to bring additional paperwork to prove that I did regular tire rotation. Today, I went to the dealership to get the oil change and requested complimentary tire rotation. Guess what, they DID NOT find any MECHANICAL problem with the tires. Shame on you Costco Tires. I am no longer buying tires at this dishonest place! read more

IMO, I can't really tell a difference b/t Costco & Sam's. My father shops here & then I go shopping w/ my friend when she goes to Sam's. The prices seem comparable from what I can tell. They seem to sell all of the same products. I personally don't have a preference, but others do. I will tell you this though, if you hate crowds, it's best to come during the day during the week b/c otherwise you will be dealing w/ massive crowds. I am claustrophobic so I avoid coming here during peak hours. read more

Who doesn't love Costco?!? The first thing I love about Costco is that it is a GOOD COMPANY. The Plano location has far superior customer service to many of the other Costco's in the Dallas area save for those located in equally or snobbier locals. Costco employees are paid a lot of money for a Grocery position, and they are extremely dedicated to earning every cent of it. GROCERY: The Wine selection is extensive, but I generally find better deals on lots of the same items at Sam's Club. Cheese; They carry a fantastic cheese selection, and I always get my pecorino romano, mozzarella fresca, and feta here. They have good Salume as well. The Meat section is stocked with the highest quality lamb, and beef. It is always fun to go about trying the samples and they do stock up on good items. FOOD COURT: These items are kept at sanitary heat levels and checked via thermometer every half an hour. The Pizza is a good deal and tasty for cheap convenience pizza. Gelato: This is NOT gelato. I tried it the first time surprised to find gelato at a bulk Grocer... When I took my first bite I was like "Ma che cazzo.....?!!!" The consistency is that of toothpaste, and the flavor that of ice cream.. Because it IS ice cream... strange tooth pasty ice cream. It is made from a powder which contains powdered creamer, and mixed with milk not fresh..Not gelato. This is by far the worst Item at their food court, opt for the frozen yogurt instead! It's fat free and always fresh. Best option for your buck though is to run through the store sampling everything, go to the car change your shirt sport some shades and a hat and run through all over again collecting samples, repeat process till satisfied. ;) read more

Recently became a member at Costco so I decided to investigate and see what all they had to offer. This store has plenty of items from food, to hardware, toiletries, and even clothing. Of course I was mostly focused on the food, despite the pricing If you're a numbers person you realize that the breakdown of the prices and the amounts of food that you're getting, you'll save in the bulk options. They have 40PKs of water for only 4.98 I'm Walmart you would pay nearly the same amount for only a 30PK. On the downside there were a couple of things that rubbed me wrong. The constant hustle and bustle of the people shopping creates and atmosphere of confusion. There are constantly children running in front of carts or being separated from their parents. Other run people over with grocery carts because they aren't paying attention to where they are going, and last but not least, the parking is an abomination. People literally circle parking spots like human vultures waiting to swoop in. Despite these being things I can't control they still make me uneasy. But at Costco you can definitely get what you need and not have to come back and shop again for a while. read more

I can't tell you how many times I've gone to Costco - without a membership - to purchase alcohol and greeters/cashiers look at me like a leper when I say, "I'm just here to buy beer." Costco is of very little value unless you're a family. For a little lady such as myself with limited storage space this place is of little use to me. Even then, who needs a gallon of ketchup? Nevertheless I like to cruise around and look at everything...and eat samples recklessly. However an old man sample guy flipped out on some kid for taking more then one, that sort of slowed my down from living it up with all the samples. Costco is great. I buy all the usual household necessities there - toilet paper, paper towels, bottled water, shampoo/conditioner etc.. but I also buy my coffee beans here (we grind them at home) for MUCH less per pound than I would spend at the grocery store. In addition, I purchase my hamburger, steak, and chicken in bulk from here, and portion it up and freeze it when I get home. Costco carries a pretty wide variety of fresh produce. I'll typically pick up some bell peppers, romaine lettuce, and spinach while I'm there, and I'm particularly fond of the brand of roma tomatoes they carry. I find that the tomatoes I get in the grocery store are either unripe or completely flavorless, but the tomatoes from Costco are sooo good. Costco also has a great selection of ready to eat foods. Their take-and-bake pizza is cheap and tasty, and I like their rotisserie chicken salad. I also recently tried their buffalo wings and I have to say, they were delicious. They are the non-breaded variety and aren't as heavy or greasy as typical wings. Dig 'em. Also, check out their selection of baked goods; they have some great crusty breads (rosemary olive oil bread, mmm) and fresh desserts. All in all, I really enjoy shopping at Costco. The store is clean and well laid out, the employees are friendly, and they have what I need at a price I can afford. read more

In search this past weekend for Michelin Hydroedge tires. I was told they were in stock and that I couldn't order any until we got a membership card. After reviewing the rules, chose the Executive membership - 2% cashback on purchases. Went to Tire shop and ordered. Then, found out they were not in stock. They call Michelin and were told shipping date was unknown. I wish they told me in advance. Now, let me tell you why I ranked them pretty high. One, the tire shop is easily accessible, separate from the main store, quiet and AC. Secondly, before even stepping into the Tire Center, I've called them several times on the Hydroedge as well as other tires and they were able to answer my questions; even calling the MFG. Sam's, lucky if anyone picks up in the Tire center once the transfer is made. NTB and Discount - were about 300.00+ more in price for the same products. read more

I can't even with this Costco. We just moved here and we were members at the Costco in the Woodlands and I loved it. Not here. These people are so rude and too by the book. I get it. I've heard Costco is very rule oriented and that's good but no, this one over does it. Too over dramatic. I had to send my son out to get my card and this guy acted like the world was ending. Then he came in with the wrong bag and they made me feel like I was a leper. I didn't feel bad about a small issue that wasn't even really my fault. Why are they acting like the world was ending? It makes me wonder why, when they're supposed to be customer oriented, they're allowed to heave and sigh at guests when they're mildly inconvenienced. The food at the snack bar is GREAT! and CHEAP! I also have really liked my last couple visits to stock up on groceries for the family. They have a gzillion types of snack food in bulk which is great when there are teenagers in the house. We picked up a great leather storage ottoman/bench recently at a really good price. 24 ounces of macadamia nuts and $2.50/lb USDA Choice Brisket? Done. I go to costco for all my snack and meat needs. I've started this paleo diet and Costco makes it extremely easy for me to stock up on the foods i need. The Kirkland Tender Strips Jerky and Macadamia nuts are equal to or even better than Jack Links and Mauna Loa. They carry USDA Choice and Prime sometimes, which means you know you're gonna get a nice cut of meat. I frequently get ribeyes and rib roasts from here. read more

There are so many things to love about Costco in general. First of all they treat their employees like human beings offering them fair pay and reasonable benefits versus their competitor who treat their employees almost like slave labor. Next they offer a diverse selection of organic foods which they've started labeling with green signs so they are easily identifiable among the rest of the products offered in the store. They sell tires and they also offer a pharmacy it with very good prices. But did you know that they have an optometrist you can get an eye exam there and pick out glasses or have them order your contacts also reasonably priced I might add. But wait there's more the happy staff is very friendly and helpful if you need something. They have a satisfaction guaranteed return policy and have never questioned me about any item I have chosen to return. And if all that wasn't good enough they are building a liquor pod on the side of the building and you will be able to purchase reasonably priced liquor in Plano Texas. If you don't have a costco membership I highly recommend it over it competition. read more

My Sam's membership was about to expire so I wanted to try Costco out. When I went to the membership desk to inquire about membership I was greeted by very helpful staff members who explained how the program worked. After a walk though the store I signed up. Alot of things I noticed about Costco is they offer alot of ethnic foods (Jewish and Asian) and Sam's does not. Also Sam's does not offer alot of new choices in products like Costso does. In all my first trip to Costco was good and now I am a happy member. If anyone is thinking about trying Costco out I would say it is worth the try and the membership. read more

I had a great experience at the store. I came in and needed assistance at the Hearing Aid area. Kelli was extremely helpful and professional and took care of my needs. I came in for hearing aid cleaning and Kelli did more than I expected. When she saw me coming, she walked out of the counter area and walked towards me to give me back my hearing aids. She also replaced the battery and thoroughly explained the entire process. Because of this experience, I will be making this store my go-to Costco store from here on out. read more

Costco is considered a "Top Tier" gasoline. Meaning they add detergent to fuel which in turn prolongs engine life and keeps your car's valves cleaner than "ordinary" gasoline. When comparing Costco prices to Race Trac, 7-Eleven, Quick Trip, etc... it's not an apples to apples comparison. The better comparison would be based against similar competitor's products such as Techroline. Other top tier gasoline is approximately 30 to 50 cents more per gallon than Costco (in my city). I only use Costco gas unless I'm traveling, and I love it. I came here to grab some yummy things to give as Christmas gifts and they had a great variety of chocolates, gift baskets, popcorn, cookies, you name it! With the option to buy in bulk, I was able to make nice goodie bags for all my friends and did not need to make additional stops at other stores. It was quite crowded here, which was to be expected, but the line moved quite fast regardless of that. I was surprised that they did not have as many samples as other Costco's I have been to, but that is most likely due to the holiday season and being a bit understaffed. How can you not love Costco!! I remembered when they first opened in Plano about five years ago. It was a dream come true. Yes they are a warehouse like Sams Club but that is where the similarity stops. They carry higher end products and rotate them out. When you are a member, you receive their monthly coupon books. What an incredible steal!! You don't get that @ Sams Club. After being a Gold Star Member for about two years, we decided to upgrade to Executive membership. Best decision! You get 2% back and now that we are business owners, I love my AMEX COSTCO Card! I get even more back just for buying gas. To preface I love Costco as a company and do not intend for any of my comments to be taken in a slanderous manner. I'm simply stating my personal experience and opinion on this location ONLY. For a long time I've been wanting to work at Costco but I was not old enough. As soon as I turned 18 I asked an associate if they're hiring. They told me to come back in September... so I did. One day mid September I decided its time to go apply. I dressed very nice and had an enthusiastic smile on my face. I didn't see a manager on the floor so at the service desk I asked an associate to see if any managers were available. Unfortunately he busy but they told me I could wait there if I wanted. After about 30 minutes I was greeted by Tony. He didn't look very happy but everyone has their days so I didn't let it detour me. He tried to walk right past me but an associate told him I was waiting to talk to him. He said that applications are online only and that he is doing interviews at the food court right now, to apply online then come talk to him again. So I said thank you and headed to the food court to apply on my phone. The whole time he was staring at me but I tried not to think too much of it. After I came back from sending my application he told me the servers went down but then proceeded to interview someone else. In my peripheral vision I saw him doing a cutting motion on his neck to symbolize its a no for me. The unprofessionalism was real throughout our entire interaction. He was extremely rude. Not to mention several other staff members had attitudes as well. I know it's just business but it hurt my feelings because I've always thought so highly of Costco and have been wanting to work there for years but couldn't because I wasn't old enough. Very disappointed but I know I will be a great employee for whom ever I decide to work for! Not Costco unfortunately. read more
