A decent Costco location with an average food court that offers the $1.50 hot dog-and-soda combo like all other locations. I stopped here twice in one week and had lunch, the second time ordering a slice of pizza that was lukewarm. It's not like I expected a gourmet meal! The store itself is organized well enough and even though I hadn't previously visited this location, I was able to find the few things I needed. The cool thing is I first experienced the pre-checkout here, where an employee scans all your items while you're waiting in line. Then, when you get to the cashier, you simply pay for your pre-scanned items without having to take everything out of the cart, saving time and effort! There was only one receipt-checker at the exit on both visits, which made the process longer than it needed to be. Otherwise, it was an average Costco. read more

Parking is just impossible on weekdays and peak times ... Love this Costco.. it's hugeeeee.. there are so many items which are on display here , compared to Edison and other Costco locations .. especially - furnitures, lighting etc. billing is a it crazy ... a longgggggg queue today .. took sometime but it's probably because of weekend . Typical Costco. Nice selection of items. Visited this location because I was in the area. Also they carried the baby formula I needed. For some reason, my usual location was out. We happened to be in NJ, in our way to visit family. So we stopped to pick up groceries and drinks. The first thing i noticed at this Costco is that at the entrance there is a liquor store. At first, i thought the liquor was like at the Edison costco, where is part of the costco brand but it was not. I didn't bother buying liquor, so we went in to buy groceries. This store has a self checkout, i have a costco near me in Long Island that has the same, few stores have that option. Well spaced out store no lines, quick payout at register. Best of all is that they have a gas station and you cannot beat regular gas $1.91. Getting was a bit if hassle since i was traveling on route 22 but it was a nice experience. read more

Go to Costco in the area. Gas Station, Alcohol, and Tire Center. This Costco is truly a one stop shop location. This place also usually not as busy as the Edison location as well. Never had problem finding parking and queues are manageable. One area I enjoy visiting is the food court. $1.5 hotdog and drink, pizza. This is a great Costco, as most are! The manager Jaun and employees Ashley and Steven went above and beyond to help me solve a problem. It was crazy busy day (Valentine's Day) which happened to fall the day after a big snow storm. They still were running smoothly and were unruffled with the crowds. With the parking lot full there was still only a short wait to check out. It made for a positive experience that could have gone side ways! The checkin was easy at this Costco. There were no lines to wait in. You do have to show your ID upon entering. Once in, you can walk around as you normally did, except you must wear a face mask at all times, no exceptions. Do to the pandemic Costco limits contact when checking out, so you have to get in one line and then a Costco rep directs you to which line you will be checking out in. There are two employees to check you out. One employee unpacks all your stuff on the conveyor belt and boxes up your items. if you don't use a box it is neatly organized back into your cart. The other person rings you up. You have to line up on the opposite side of the conveyor belt. There is a lucite piece of glass between you and the cashier. It actually makes things easier and more efficient. I find I can get in and out of this Costco pretty quickly. This particular Costco was fully stocked. Originally, back 4 months ago it was hit or miss. They were out of quite a few things like paper towel and cleaning supplies, bottled water. Now, they are back to being fully stocked. The staff is very nice. The store is set up like most Costco's. This Costco is pretty big. They have a separate entrance if you want to buy alcohol. The parking lot can get very busy. This store is located on RT 22 East in North Plainfield.. One of my favorite things here to purchase is Costco's homemade rotisserie chicken. It's the size of a roaster and it's only $5.99. I also buy a 2 pound bag of either grated pecorino Romano or Parmesan cheese. All of Costco meats are excellent including the lamb chops.They have a really nice fish dept too. I always buy a whole piece of fresh salmon for around $8.99 a lb. Costco homemade 1/2 sheet cakes are delicious. Those you need to preorder in advance. The form is by the bakery department. I like the Costco only sells organic eggs at a good price. All in all I had a very good experience at this Costco. read more

Best Costco by far in the country. Been all over and this wins hands down. Food is fresh, workers are timely and informative and they go the extra mile. Case and point: Loading heavy shelf into my truck and Jaiden stops and asks if I want a hand with it. Helps me load it in and says, "is there anything else I can help you with today?" Then tells me to have a great day. I know this seems like this should be part of their job, but he went above and beyond and I saw him in the parking lot hustling to get to carts, help other people, etc... Guy deserves a raise IMO! This review is in regards to the gas station. I come here at least once a week to fill up. I always get here just about 6 o'clock in the morning. I will have to say that when Ken is working, everything runs smoothly you're in and out really fast. He really hustles every morning has everything is ready to go when customers start lining up. Costco truly has a great employee when it comes to Ken he's very prompt. Works very hard and makes it an easy transition to get out of there quickly especially for those who are traveling to work. when he is not working I can say the other guys like Tim who do not work nearly as hard as Ken does. There are always long lines they start late by the time you can start getting gas. It's about 10 after six and they move slowly. You truly have to value those employees who make pure initiative who are on time to work and have dedication to their job. There are not many people out there that do that. read more

The option there has the rudest clark ever. She ordered my 11 years old daughter to open her eyes on the machine in a harsh way. I went to stand near my daughter. She ordered me "GO SIT ON THE CHAIR" I said I want to stand by my daughter. She yelled at my daughter " GO SIT ON THE WAITING CHAIR". And she let another client in. She doesn't wear a name tag, so I asked her what's your name. She refused to say her name and said go complain to Costco. As a Costco client I think I should not be treated that way. In general, I'm a fan of Costco. Great prices, plenty of items for practically everything you would ever need. The location is clean and well-maintained. There is the liquor store next to the entrance of the Costco. There is a Costco Gasoline at this location. For those from out-of-state, remember that in New Jersey it is the law that the attendant pumps your gas for you. I don't understand why, though. Regardless, the gas attendants are polite and professional. I like the food court that they have inside. They have the standard U.S. offerings: pizza, hotdogs, italian sausage, frozen yogurt, churros, chicken bakes, etc. As others have stated, weekends are usually busy here. read more

This is my favorite Costco location, this place is well kept, the employees are welcoming, well space out between the aisles and seem to be very well managed. Regardless of full the parking lot is the lines moves so fast plus they have 6 self checkout registers too. There is a pharmacy, a Verizon kiosk at this location, tire center and eye glass location but this location no longer has a photo center as of last year. There is also a Costco gas at this location which I find to be cheaper than any location around, Judy try to go before or after rush hour, those lines get very long and can be there for a while waiting on gas but the attendants are very welcoming. read more

Used to love this store, but now I am tired of getting harassed by the phone sales people every time I enter the store. If I keep going to costco, it will be to Bridgewater. When I told the sales person I was not interested, he continued to push me to tell him which company I have service with. One of the best Costcos I've been to. Very clean (especially compared to the Union location) and relatively less congested than most other Costcos in the area such as the Bridgewater and the super congested Staten Island one. Only downside I can think of is the selection here isn't as good as some of the more congested Costcos. For example, no chicken bakes in the freezer section or chimay beer like they have in SI. North Plainfield does have gas and a liquor store though. Pretty good service too overall, especially the guys in the tire center, who are really great. A tire center person even called me on my phone once when I left after getting tires changed and forgot stuff in my cart. Really honest and good people. Also regarding the tire center, I've been to the one in Bridgewater and the guy there said the equipment for tire changes there is older and more likely to scratch my 19" wheels, whereas the North Plainfield Costco has newer and better equipment. I can attest I've changed my tires there twice with no problems and no scratches. read more

I like to fuel up at Costco on Rt.22 in North Plainfield. The pump layout allows them to accommodate 16 vehicles simultaneously. Even if there is a bit of a line, you get your gasoline pretty quickly. The service has been mostly friendly and good. Costco gas accepts Visa and debit cards only. This keeps the attendants safe from being robbed. The price here always seems about 3 cents per gallon lower than any of the highway discount stations. read more

It's alright...it's your standard Costco. This branch is a little bigger than the route 27 branch and has a bigger parking lot. I have to say I was a little disoriented as I frequent the route 27 one often. I know they're all the same but for some reason I'm just not feeling this one. Maybe cause it's bigger (not that they have more merchandise) but, there's more floor space to walk on. I dunno maybe I'm just lazy. BUYERS BEWARE NP Costco has evidently recently changed its meat dept policy. it's now ok for them to package substandard pork cuts and cutting mistakes so that customers cannot see what they are actually buying. Perfect, 1-inch chops are only thick on one edge. The hidden side can be as little as paper thin. If you return the purchase, they give you a full refund, but this practice borders on consumer fraud and they should stop it immediately. This is a brand spanking new Costco! With all the bells and whistles.. cheap Costco gas, liquor store, tire store, and the real reason I go to Costco.. the pizza! I would never give a slice of this to a real Italian, but there's something about Costco pizza that is just so good. Maybe it's the cheese? Yea definitely the thick layer of mozzarella that comes out beautifully blistered. That plus all the free samples equals a great meal :) and if no samples, get a chocolate covered ice cream bar! I went there for gas today to get a small amount of gas for the rental I have to return. I said $20 regular and the attendant had a charity pail asking for a donation. I told him not this time, gave him my credit card and he put the machine on. I was not paying attention and when I felt this was taking too long I saw $31 and going higher on the pump and yelled for him. He stopped it at $35.28. No one can get gas back from the car rental place from my past experiences when returning the car. I was supposed to return it with a half a tank and now I have almost a full tank. Maybe these workers and Costco should be worried about getting the gas amount right and pleasing the customer, rather than worrying about donations at the pump and getting things wrong and pissing people off! Who knows maybe he put it on fill because I didn't give a donation? This is inexcusable! read more

I noticed same thing in Lawrenceville NJ area. Live that Costco perceived value and the only benefactor is Costco. Big lines always. Nice employees because the are Costco full benefit employees so that may make the purchase of gas here of value to some. I don't think they even scan or require your Costco membership card so I don't see it worthwhile not to Patronize local gas stations that are reasonable and have been serving you, unless you live in Bedminster, where they rip you off! read more
