People here always nice, friendly, and supportive. I worked for the competition. When someone would approach us and ask "where are the baby wipes"? My trainer would scream "WE DON'T WORK HERE!!!" (In full uniform) in the old woman's face. It made me feel 2" tall-and because he was the BEST?!? I'm not making waves... Just not the best example of hospitality. When you're training with the best, anything that threatens his boss is met with veracity. They have an open door policy "but it's just a numbers game" for managers trying to beat the curve and other regions. DEI? It's a PR ploy. read more

This Costco has all the usual strengths you expect; solid selection, good prices, and the dependable Costco quality; but the checkout process seriously needs work. During my visit, there was a surprising amount of manpower wasted just directing customers to different lines, instead of actually moving people through checkout. Employees were repeatedly telling shoppers where to go, which line to switch to, or where to stand, yet the lines still moved slowly and felt disorganized. It created more confusion than efficiency. If they turn the front aisle vertical to the cashiers the problems could be eliminated and the workers could be used wiser. Costco is usually a masterclass in logistics, so this was disappointing. With better flow or clearer lane management, the same staff could be helping customers check out faster rather than acting as traffic controllers. Costco is still good value but the checkout experience here takes away from what should be a smooth, high-volume operation. read more

Wowza. I think this is the biggest Costco I have had the pleasure of shopping at. I've shopped Costco all over the U.S. and Canada and they still need to continue to grow. I still find myself driving 2 hrs to get to one. We just happened to be in New Orleans and toke advantage of getting my Costco fix. We got to the store about 10 minutes of opening and stood in line with others. The store was almost 10 minutes late opening as we watched staff hauling loads of plants outside. This store had a lot of gluten free items and I wish I had more time to look around. I spent over $600 as it was as I loaded up for my Winter condo in FL 4 hrs away. Cant beat the fresh produce, rotisserie chicken and chicken noodle soup. We decided to have the Costco hot dog and drink and the food court was located outside the store in an open roofed area. A number of years ago I got my prescription glasses from Costco. These glasses are stylish, high quality and I liked them better than the ones sold at the ophthalmologist's office. Not to mention they were around 1/3 off the retail cost. I'm thinking I might rejoin my membership at Costco just because I might need a new prescription in a few months. Same applies for the tires for my car. I don't currently need to replace them, but Costco is a great place to get them. Costco is a membership warehouse. Most items are sold in bulk. While it is typically a bad idea to go grocery shopping before eating a meal, I think Costco is the exception to the rule. I recently made a quick stop here with some friends who I was visiting, while I was pretty hungry. I was given so many samples, that they basically fed me a meal. From chips and guacamole, to cheese, grilled chicken, flavored water, and even a truffle. I wasn't hungry any more. You can supply your whole home with Costco. They have furniture, appliances, grocery, electronics and everything else you could think of. I do wish more of the items were regular sized and not bulk. read more

If I lived closer to the NOLA location, I would definitely go to this Costco everyday! Great place to buy bulked items. Employees are fairly nice. Not to mention, the food court outside is greatly priced. Every time my family and I come by, we already get their hot dogs & soda refill combo.... it's literally only $1.50!! We also get their Strawberry & Vanilla Ice Cream Sundae ($2.49) for dessert. Overall, it's your average Costco, but I don't really have any complaints. read more

They are all highly qualified even those who " fit" you. There glasses r both Costco brand & designer. I had tried Progressive from a private eyeglass place and tried for 2 yrs to adjust never did. I bought 2 beautiful pair from Costco tell for a ridiculous price of about $230! I tried progressive with them and they were seamless. Costco recently celebrated their 10 year anniversary here in New Orleans! I can honestly say I love this store even more than I did 10 years ago when they opened here. It's clear they are committed to our city and our community, and I love them for that. Whenever there is something happening such as a hurricane, or salt water intrusion, or any other reason the community needs this store they are here for us and have the stock available for the specific situation plus a plan for distribution of the needed items. In addition, I love that our Costco sells local items made here in New Orleans! It means the world to me that a store like Costco carries locally made items! How nice that there's a Costco in Nola! We stopped by while visiting New Orleans on a roadtrip. It's located a bit off the usual suburb/nicer area but the gas station and store is pretty accessible unlike some other locations that have pretty convoluted routing to enter their parking lot. So this was my very first visit to Costco. I have a Sam's membership but after visiting Costco it's basically the same store but I can say Costco appears to have a few more selections when it comes to prepackaged meals which it a hit for moms if a quick fix meal is needed. After shopping we stopped at the cafe and I had to try the oh so popular Chicken Bake....absolutely not. I'm not sure what I expected but it definitely wasn't what I expected. The bread has this kind of cheese baked on top of it which was pretty decent. Now on to the inside - I'm going to be completely honest, I'm not sure what is inside of it. I want to say it's chicken, bacon, some sort of cheese sauce or maybe like an Alfredo. I'm not sure but it's a no for me. I definitely will be back to pick up a few items. read more

I travel so often I would go poor if I got souvenirs for my friends and family on every trip, but my boyfriend is nicer than me so he was looking for something New Orleans-esq to bring back home. I suggested Costco since you can usually get a wholesale deal and I was pretty confident they MUST have something appropriate to bring back. We found boxes of Aunt Sally's Pralines, 18 pieces for under $20 per box, compared to those same individual pieces being sold $4.99-5.99 each at the other tourist shops and airport. WHAT A DEAL!! Highly recommended if you are travelling to/from New Orleans and looking for a nice gift to bring to people. While we were there we also browsed around to see how this Costco is unique. I noticed a lot of similar items, but this Costco definitely had a better selection of seafood. Always fun and interesting to check out the local Costcos. read more

The lines are long, but move swiftly. Costco is the BEST! I've been a member since 1983 in Washington State. I moved to California in 1985, but was disappointed that no Costco was there. I had to shop at Price Club. It was a decent shopping experience, but they were bought out by Costco, and I couldn't have been happier. I've been a member, and will remain a member! I've seen lots of changes over the years, and will continue to shop at Costco because of the high quality products sold, the customer service provided, and their fair treatment of their workers. This model will continue to flourish if they continue to keep their customers' interests and services, as well as their great product selection at the forefront of their operation. I've shopped at the stores in Washington State, California, and now this one in New Orleans. I love Costco and the Kirkland brand. The only complaint I have is finding things because they have a business model that specifically calls for change ups. However, all I have to do is ask an employee, and they know where everything is. The gas station at the New Orleans Costco is by FAR the most crowded with the longest wait times that I've ever experienced at the several Costco's across the country I've visited. The warehouse shopping experience is also one of the most crowded and chaotic of ANY Costco I've visited across the USA. Now the selection and size of the warehouse here is, on average, far superior to the others I've visited. The New Orleans location absolutely has the best beer, wine and liquor selection of ANY other Costco I've ever seen! In comparison the locations I've visited in Mobile, AL; Birmingham, AL and Jackson, MS have been disappointing as they just don't have the variety or the same items that the New Orleans location has. The Austin, TX and Nashville, TN locations are of comparable size with good selections but the goofy booze laws in all those other states makes it less convenient and more challenging to get as good a selection of adult beverages. Overall they need to open an entire new gas station section for the New Orleans location and even then they would have long lines and the same for the checkout lines. I've just never seen such lines or crowds of people at other Costco locations like the NOLA location seems to constantly have! Maybe they will open a Metairie location to take some of the pressure off the New Orleans location? read more

Then after having to prove that an appointment was made, they would not replace my 2 tires without replacing all 4! What?!? As an executive member for the last 15 years, I would give the store 5 stars. The food court however is terrible. Specially Darrell and the guy with his name starting with a H. Every time I order a pizza it's a long waiting disaster. First several times I've ordered a pizza over the phone I had to wait. I watch them cut up fresh pizza to hand to customers who just ordered while I wait on my whole pizza. So I thought maybe if I order my pizza at the kiosk then shop it will be ready. Wrong again. Fresh pizza is cut up and handed out while I wait. I thought they would be smart enough to put a pizza in a box and when I walked up it would be ready to go. Wrong again. Then I had to almost reach inside to get one of the two of them to actually talk to me. When asked they said I had to let them know I was going to go shopping. Wait what? How'd the know I wasn't there waiting? Just BS each and every time. That staff needs to go or get trained better read more

If you get a regular membership then when you're at the check out a member will approach you to "upgrade" I.e. pay more for a different membership. You can't just say no. They are like used car salespeople. I love the store but to annoy customers trapped at the checkout gives them 2 stars. Just happened again and was told that was his job. Update: I just wanted to say that for as crazy as this year has been, Costco never let me down. They have put their customers and employees safety first!! There is a new area for self checkout which is great if you need to run in for only a couple things. Gas is still the best price in town. And right now they have all the holiday things out, including my favorite thermals. Oh, and if you still need your Flu shot....they are easy to get and fairly quick too. If you sign in at arrival, you can shop and they will text you when it's your turn. They have shots as well as the nasal spray. Most insurances are accepted but otherwise only $20. You can literally get anything from here such as: tires, gas, food, furniture, and so much more. When this Costco initially opened, the staff was rushed and rude. Thought this was because of the initial open and would calm down... it only worsened. No one says hello, good day, thank you, or etc. There is no customer service. It has a decent selection, but it appears every employee is having their worst day and all customers are viewed as extreme annoyances. This is not the same for other Costco's across the country, just this one, which is located in a city known for its hospitality. Almost every single reaction, from customer service, renewing Costco membership, to the sampler staff, to the cashier line supervisor, to the cashier, bagging assistant, to the receipt checker. Although the receipt checker did say a half hearted thank you at the end, which was at the bare minimum expectation of customer service: polite. This service level would be expected at a dollar store. read more

Hubby and I are starting to revamp our 4 Home Gardens after dealing with Hurricane Ida Damage - Upon our arrival on Friday March 31 . Everyone was kind - Especially the front door ; customer service , and cashier . Then our second arrival on Monday April 3 ,2023 there was a horrible encounter with the self checkout person named Adrienne . Adrienne walked up to me and told me to back up that I was too close to another Guest . Well Guess what , I knew her and her basket was in between us . It was no need for Adrienne to tell me anything . I reported her to the Manager Dayna .. What is her problem ? She needs to be retrained or she is just a body on the job . I can review Costco on Yelp!? Why yes I can! And I should because it's about the only place this particular recently- turned sexagenarian Yelper goes in these days of COVID19. Sexagenarians--and if you're thinking clubs or dating services, reach for the dictionary, please--get their own early shopping hour on weekdays. (Septo-, octo-, nano-genarian, and centenarians are also welcome in the Early Shopping Times, currently 09:00-10:00). A review of Costco, in theory, would rate this particular store (New Orleans) against other Costcos around the world. To that point, I have been in numerous stores in the United States and Canada and I find Costco impressively consistent among locations. Given that, the most useful point of a Yelp review is whether the membership is worth it . In smaller households some products, particularly perishables, can spoil before fully consumed. That happens occasionally to us with a less popular vegetable, but even with a household of three that's rare. We stick with organic ultra-pasteurized milk with an expiry usually 2-3 months away. Other products, like the tubs'o'-dip or the four pounds of butter cookies, are anticipated to last a month or two but are in fact consumed within days. Woe to those trying to practice "portion contr.."--actually, I can't in good conscience complete that phrase when it shares a paragraph with "Costco". You will, at some point, eat 800 potato chips, still have 2/3 of the bag left, and then hear about it from your bathroom scale. This New Orleans Costco is like the others with a notable exception: as a concession to its location in a lower income area, the hot dog and pizza cafe is located outside and does not require membership; as a concession to being in Louisiana, the liquor is in the store between the light bulbs and produce cooler. (They will ID if your purchase includes alcohol, even if you're a sexagenarian). Here are the advantages I see for membership, first in general, and then what's in it for the "executive member" at the $110 level: ** Costco has uniformly courteous and well-trained employees in every department. They're a pleasure to deal with, and how often can you say that about customer service these days? ** Auto service is tires and batteries: Battery selection is severely limited (owners of Honda Fits and those 7th gen CIvics with the reverse polarity batteries, no battery for you). Tires are competitively priced and specials on the two manufacturers, Bridgestone and Michelin, are offered on an alternating basis. Don't expect to put on a different size tire than OEM (e.g., you can't substitute 205/50-16 for the a 185/55-16 as some other shops allow). Balancing and mounting have been problem free for me, and they will do rotation and balance as part of the extended service. Costco uses torque-controlled extensions on their wrenches to prevent over-torquing that many shops cause when they apply an air-wrench. Not a big deal until you return from 9000 miles through Death Valley and Southwest to find a stripped lug nut, as happened from another shop. ** Costco tends toward high-quality items with slightly less variety Sam's Club. For cat food, Costco offers 3-4 varieties with only one wet-food choice where Sam's carries 6 or so with multiple wet-food options (cat owners know why this matters). ** Almost everything I've purchased from Costco has been high quality, sometimes luxury brands show up in goofy-huge packages. At one point, they offered a bottle of scotch for $38 grand. Manager told me they sold two (!). ** The loss-leading perfectly seasoned whole chicken for five bucks is one of the best deals around. ** Produce is fresh, and while you're trying to assuage the guilt of overdoing the butter cookies, have some fruit or fix a salad from the giant pack of spinach you brought home. Under this strategy, you can use Costco's large quantities per item (sometimes laughably huge) to your advantage. (At least that's what I tell myself when I'm munching on a butter cookie staring at the pile of produce I need to figure out how to fit in the fridge. ) ** Some products are sold in bundles of smaller sealed packages. Bagels and bread, for example, are generally two-packs and one can be frozen. ** The premium membership kicks back 2% redeemable annually for cash or Costco store credit. If you spend more than a couple grand at Costco per year, the executive level pays for itself. ** Costco switched affiliation from American Express to VISA a few years back, and they offer a VISA card with 4% on gas (already cheap at Costco, but good for any fuel purchase), 3% on groceries, restaurants and travel, 2% on other Costco purchases, and 1% on everything else. COVID19: Costco enforces mask-wearing and social distancing pretty well. I spent 23000.00 dollar was to my order would arrive in a week well we are going on 2 weeks and no order when you call them they want to blame shipping company and not own the issues. Love Costco!! You can always depend on high quality here. And if you do get anything you really don't like, you can return it. My only complaint is with their food packaging. They seem to be getting a little better... but they need more packaging for one, or at least two...would be fine if each item has multiple of these single serves in one large package. Single people have freezers too! Then my last comment is that Costco could do so much good for the planet if they required their vendors to use minimal plastic in their products!! I have mixed feelings about my recent visit to Costco Tire Center. I love the store, I trust its services. So when I got a flat tire - I didn't even think twice. I just went online to see if they fix flats. They do. According to the website, they take walk-ins, but appointments are preferred. In my quest to avoid any problems, I called the center to schedule an appointment. They took me in for 1 pm the same day. I came 15-20 mins early to find out that I do not have an appointment, they have 5 cars ahead of me and it will take them about 2 hours to get to my car. Imagine my happiness and surprise when I had already planned my whole work day around this visit. Meanwhile, they were frantically trying to find out who scheduled my appointment. I didn't ask for a name, I know it was a woman. There was only 1 lady working. I assume it was her, but who knows. After some complaining, they agreed to take a look at my car. I came back in almost an hour hoping my car was fixed by then. The lady told me I still need to wait 1,5 hours. I couldn't spend that much time in the store! I asked if I could speak to a manager. The person who took me in came to talk to me. Unfortunately, I don't remember his name. I'll update after my next Costco visit. He said appointments take an hour (I thought I didn't have an appointment?) and then he realized my car is being worked on as we speak. He took me inside of the shop to show me problems that my car had and suggested to change all 4 tires. I was planning on doing that in the near future, but he said it's better to do it now as they were running a sale at the moment - Buy 3, get 1 free. I needed to do it anyway, so I decided to buy tires now and come back for installation later. As we got to the counter, he pointed at the tires I would be buying, and said that they would cost me $99.99 each. They don't have them in stock now, so they need to be ordered. I asked if I could buy them now and schedule an appointment for later. He said NO. Then he leaned forward and said something like:"This is between you and me. They will be $110 in a couple of days. If you buy 4 of them now, you'll save $40." I was really confused then. Why are you telling me they will be more expensive, but I can't buy them now and schedule an appointment? Plus, I thought I would be buying 3 and getting 1 free? Was it a different deal? I guess I didn't phrase my question correctly, and also he was working with 2 other customers at the same time, so probably we both were confused. After he stopped talking to other customers, I told him I was confused and asked him to explain the whole deal again. This is what it was: 1. Yes, I COULD buy 4 tires now, but they would be more expensive later. I don't know why he even mentioned Buy 3, Get 1 Free thing. 2. I couldn't schedule an appointment until tires were in the shop, but I'd be getting a phone call from the Center. It doesn't make sense to me. I've paid for merchandise and service, but can't schedule a it? All this happened on Nov 6. Today is Nov 12. Almost a week later. With paid 4 tires I still don't have an appointment. I trust Costco services. I believe my car will be beautifully fixed, but it was, unfortunately, a very disappointing and time-consuming experience. read more

I'm keeping all five stars on here and check my last review for all the goods I like to buy at a good deal. This has to do with their Tire Center. I love them. They're on top of their game, transparent about costs and timelines, and don't waste time. On Rhonda my Honda Civic, all my tires were Costco tires and I got the warranty on all of them. Whenever possible the guys fixed the tire or replaced under warranty. I worked with Juan ( the Juan and only ) on that car for the most part and always had great service. I really put them to the test this past week. It was pre-Barry hysteria where every man, woman, and child needed their own 48 pack of bottled water and gas lines were longer than the ones at Camellia's Grill on Saturday mornings. I had had a slow leak in one of my tires for...6 months. Yeah, I'm not proud. But pending the need to escape a hurricane, I decided it was time to intro LaFonda the Honda CRV to the Costco crew. Chris was awesome. He was realistic about the potential wait time ( 3 hrs ) and looked up tires for me. He then checked out my car and told me they'd fit me in to the schedule. Fast forward, maybe max an hour, Chris had LaFonda's tire plugged and me road safe without having to drop some serious coinage. Thank you, Chris! I had enough time to by my panic water, a jug of milk, and dark chocolate-covered dried mangos (+ it to the list) and change my name and address on my membership (thank you Customer Service desk). So glad to have a Costo in the city! Reliable, cheaps eats are sold on the exterior so non-members can have access to churros, over-sized pizza slices and strawberry-covered frozen yogurt. Inside, you can eat your way around the store with free samples of food items for sale in bulk nearby. They are starting to stock more vegetarian items, which is a good change. I wish there was more variety for cat food, since dogs are clearly favored by the proportion of available pet foods. I feed 7 cats daily, so any bulk options are better than none. Lastly, the clothing only goes up to 2X for men. This can be limiting for broader/bigger guys. I have to check online to see if bigger options exist. read more
