I thought about it, and I came up with 4 reasons to bump them up to 4 stars: 1) what's in the parking lot - each space has a striped zone between it and the adjacent space to reduce the likelihood of door dings + a gas station where they sell what is considered Top Tier gasoline, possibly furnished by Tesoro, and it is quite a bit less per gallon than Chevron ... slightly over 25 cents a gallon less today. I think that the fuel injectors should be fine if you alternate filling up at Costco and at one of the majors. The attendants working there work quickly and have good attitudes. 2) tires - Michelins and "soft sell" approach. 3) clothing - some good things every now and then - a CK all cotton long sleeve gingham shirt for under $20, some brushed denim jeans at around $17, and some DKNY jeans (with disco-looking rear pockets) and some more popular Levi's (the real deal) jeans at really good prices. 4) food court - from a 59 cent refillable drink to a $1.50 dog and drink to a $2.99 chicken bake to a few items I hadn't seen before ... located outside. I know the rest of you have your Costco pet peeves and Costco pet purchases (rotisserie chicken, eggs, meats, cheeses, bulk, etc.), so, factoring in those other things I don't buy, it's most likely a 4. read more

COSTCO hasn't changed in as long as i've been shopping with them. The Parking Lot is still a "Zoo". Walking from your parking spot to the store is still a "Live Or Die" situation. Please pay attention as you walk. People want out of that lot in a bad way. You'll feel it also when your done shopping. They still have really inexpensive snacks and covered seating out front. (I would advise buying eats elsewhere. "Cheap Eats" in this case isn't worth the calories / heartburn.) They still have good deals and some great products. They still have a large variety of goods and services. Such as a Tire Service Center. An Eye Care Center. Computers. T.V.'s large and small. Housewares. Clothes. Food. Ect. Ect. Ect. The store is still full of people on a mission and some good deals. In a larger household like mine, you must battle things in life for those you love. Costco is awesome, but is not without fault. Prices and quality are unbeatable (especially on meats), but checkout lines are long and staff are difficult to find when service is required. Costco requires membership in order to shop there, but this is a small price to pay for the savings you'll get and for the quality offered. Beware that parking at this location is very tough on Saturdays (especially after they put the gas station in), so get there very early or very late if you want to avoid this hassle. Minus one star because there is no gas station here. They do have the food court with the great 1.50 hot dog and soda deal. Now they have a turkey wrap too, at 3.99 it is the most expensive thing on the menu. I haven't tried it yet. The food court is heated during the winter but during the summer can get warm and crowded. There is a large parking lot; you may end up hiking to the store but you will be able to park. They have the usual tire place, hearing aid station, pharmacy, optometrist, etc. The store is clean, the people are nice, and things are generally well stocked. They have only been out of the chicken jerky for dogs once. That chicken jerky is a great deal and the dog goes wild for it. I once tricked her into letting go of a dead parakeet (how did a dead parakeet get into our backyard? No clue.) by trading it for a chicken jerky treat. Costco chicken jerky treats are great. I've never tasted them, but a dog park friend said they are yummy for people too, but I can't endorse eating them. This is a nice Costco, easy to maneuver, and they have good stuff. If you are at the Clackamas Promenade or the Clackamas mall, it is worth a side trip to this Costco to stock up on toilet paper. You know you need it! read more

Not much to be said as I'm sure everyone is familiar with Costco but if you're living with a bunch of people or have a big family this is your go to place to buy goods. You buy in bulk and can buy anything from toilet paper to hot pockets to steak. You can also buy gas which is cheaper than almost everywhere if you're a member. I recommend! read more

I would like to give a shout out to the optical department. They had a great selection of glasses and the customer service was amazing. Claire helped me pick out glasses. I told her what I was looking for and found me exactly what I wanted. I ended up buying two pairs because I couldn't decide on just one. She actually picked out my favorite pair. Also, as far as billing goes she billed my insurance right there. I didn't have to do any foot work. Lastly, my glasses came in 5 days after I ordered them which is a really quick turn around. I went to the store the next day to pick up my glasses. They fitted me for my glasses and I was amazed of the quality of the lenses that Claire recommended. It was a huge step up from my old glasses. I love my glasses and the service I was provided. I will definitely be going back and I would highly recommend their optical department. Thanks again Claire! read more

If I didn't already love Costco, I certainly do now. Not only can I get my weekly grocery shopping done, I can also get a great deal on gas for my car (totally worth the cost of Costco membership). The attendants are always friendly and work as fast as they can. With extra long hoses, you can be served at any pump. This review is of the Costco Clackamas Tire Center. Four tires + installation + fees was a little less expensive than it would have been at another local tire store for the same tires. That was the only good thing about this experience. If price is everything, then this is probably a good place for you. Next time I'll go to one of the other local tire stores because (1) it took just under 3 hours (2 hours more than I'm used to), (2) the service was not as good (not unpleasant, but slower and less energetic), and (3) Costco is not a great place to hang out for 3 hours. * I called a week ahead and got a service appointment. * I ordered and paid for the tires online via their website. Even though I had an appointment, they didn't even take my car into the shop until 90 minutes after the appointment time. After that it was another 75-80 minutes. Even though I had already paid for the service and installation and arrived early, I had to stand in line inside the store for 20 minutes, and the line was short. When I finally reached the counter, the busy work at the counter took as long as it does when I go to other tire stores and go through the selection and purchase process. None of the people were unpleasant, but the overall experience was. Given how standardized Costco is, I would not expect anything better at their other locations. read more

Great optical department - I was there in December 2021 and had to get progressives for the first time. I picked up a pair with very friendly and attentive customer service only to lose them 1 month later. Went back and had other customer service reps at the optical station help me find another great pair. I was in and out within 35 minutes again! This specific location is one of the smaller Costco. Situated right off of 84th street near Sunnyside Road in Clackamas. There is plenty of parking in the front of the store and also on the side. While this location is smaller than some of the other Costco's' it does still have pretty much the same type of items but just at a smaller selection of stuff. You can still find the baked chicken and fresh fruits and vegetables. They also have a food court located outside the store. It's very convenient that the food court does not take Debit and Visa Credit cars. The return policy is great and they can look up your purchases with your Costco membership card. Keep in mind that there is an annual $55 membership fee for the regular account and $120 for the executive membership. The value for meat and seafood can be hit or miss. I mainly come here for the over the counter drugs/ allergy meds and baked good. They also have great pricing on granola bars, crackers and nuts. The store also sells some brand name clothes which can be a great deal at times. Overall, its a big warehouse with bulk items. They don't have bags but can put your purchases in a box for you. I highly recommend comparing the prices before coming in. Since the items are sold in bulk just a few items can easily put your total bill to over$100. read more

Costco your pharmacy needs to step up it's game. I'm constantly told my meds aren't ready when I come to pick them even when I'm given a day and time they'll be ready after. One of your main pharmacist is also externally condescending. I ignored the first time I interacted with her but this time I'm not going to. Today is a day after it was supposed to be ready; it's not, and it was apparently ordered, but not enough of it was ordered. Worst Costco ever! Don't waste your time here. Tire shop is ridiculous. For some reason, even though the tire shop is right by the parking lot, they make you walk all the way into the store and back around, which is about 1/4 mile (nothing wrong with a little exercise but I was there to get my tires changed, not to go for a walk). Anyway, I showed up on time for an appointment I had made, which you can only make with a membership. The guy at the tire counter demanded to see my Costco card, which I did not have with me. He was quite rude, didn't appear to understand that if you can log into the website and make an appointment, that means you have a Costco card. Obviously not the right personality for a customer-facing job. No motivation whatsoever to solve the customer's problem. I suspect he was also lazy and didn't want to work on my car that day. Member services was a joke as well, working at a snail's pace--I've had faster service at the DMV of all places--that there was a line that was so long it wasn't worth it to wait for a card. I wound up just walking out. I will get my tire work done somewhere else. Even if it costs a little bit more money, it will cost less time and headache. read more

I go to this place all the time and it's my favorite place. Just a bad thing is that the lines are very long and allot of the registers are not blend used. Charlie in the Tire Center was incredibly helpful. I hit a curb and damaged a wheel and tire. Charlie checked all my tires and recommended they all be replaced based on wear patterns. Doesn't everyone know what to expect at Costco? They've been around long enough. This is a fairly typical Costco. Big warehouse of a buiding surrounded by a big, yet still fairly full (even at about 1 in the afternoon on a Thursday) parking lot. The parking lot also has a gas station in it. I know people who buy all their gas at Costo and have had no problems. The store itself is large. It has the usual wide variety of stuff. I found a nice super soft throw blanket and a great deal on LED light bulbs. The food area always has deals and even thursday afternoon there were some samples to be tried. For the best deals you have to buy a huge amount of stuff. I went with a friend and we split some stuff. The prices are usually good. I found some beige Calvin Klien pants for $20 and as always I bought some of the Steak Strip Jerky...so good! If they had better food in their food court I might even give them a fifth star. read more

Who the hell needs 10,000 rolls of TP, a 5-gallon jar of pepperocini, a quadruple sized box of cereal, or a ten-pack of mayonnaise? Americans do. That's fuckin' who. Not happy with our experience here. Only been here once, but I was very disappointed with the service and definitely will not be going back here. We wanted to buy a couch at our local Costco, but after a few days of issues getting the one they had at our store (long story), we were told this was the last Costco in the area with the couch we wanted. They told it is was the floor model and that they were taking off $100 which was very nice of them. So, we rented a u-haul tow and headed over. When we got there I was surprised and very upset to find the armrest had a tear in it. No one pointed it out and I wouldn't be surprised if they had let us buy it and leave without mentioning it if I hadn't seen it myself. When we FINALLY got a manager out to talk to us about it he said he couldn't take anymore off the cost and that the $100 off was because of the tear which was ridiculous. We were told the $100 off was for the fact it was a floor model and find it just downright horrible they didn't bother to mention the tear which they just admitted they knew about. This was a huge waste of our time and money to come out here. This was the worst Costco experience I've ever had and I'll never be going back to this store. And to top it off, the person who we had issue with was the manager, so who do we complain to? Just horrible. read more

Put amongst the millions of other boxes filled with unknown artifacts, quietly left to collect dust in this giant secret government warehouse. Yet instead of aisles full of mysterious relics the government wants to conceal, I am faced with row upon row of gigantic cans of Beef-a-Roni, packages of meat & ribs large enough to tip over a prehistoric automobile, and six packs of plasma televisions. Everywhere I turn, I find "family" sized packaging in both the aisles and in the rears of the majority of those who are Costco regulars. Yet It is the crowds, the harried individuals, those who dart in front of you pushing your shopping cart aside in an attempt to beat you out for the last free sample of some freezer burned pot pie (which only comes in a 100 pack) that really makes my face melt. Yes, snakes are to Indy, what screaming hyperactive children are to me...except I've been warned not to cover them in gasoline and light them on fire in an attempt to clear the aisle in order to get to my jolly green giant sized supplies. And this is why I am not a huge fan of Costco. With a household consisting of myself and the Tall Leggy Blonde, there are only certain items that really are a value for a small household and should be bought in bulk. Bottled water, butt wipe, Vitamin waters, nuts, string cheese, chicken breasts (haha...I said nuts, butt & breast in that sentence); these are the few items that I risk my sanity in order to purchase in bulk. However on this last trip I found the holy grail, something from another country that until now was only the stuff of legends, spoke about only at night in hushed tones. Something I was willing to brave the screaming children for, to jump over colliding shopping cart booby-traps for, something that the sample Nazi's couldn't keep me from... Glass bottled Coke-a-Cola from Mexico...made with pure cane sugar. My name is Tom A and I have a problem with Costco. I'm on my way home from visiting a customer and I think I'm just going to stop in here for a bag of pet food and some vitamins. A few samples later I've got a box of burritos and a gallon of hummus, an external hard drive and some rather large bottles of wine. And of course a 6 lb jar of cashews. I am powerless over Kirkland Cashews. This particular location doesn't have a gas station like the one up by the airport, but its food court is at least open air. I like that while I'm scarfing my all-beef hot dog and 20 oz. drink I can sit at a picnic table and look up at the 24-Hour Fitness. I visualize doing some lat pull-downs and d-ring rows whilst I masticate on my dog. Coach says visualizing is the most important aspect of training so I do some more of it while I go back for a refill on the drink. It's gonna be a winning season. read more

I don't know why I ask my parents to take me to Costco with them, because I almost always end up wandering the aisle aimlessly wishing I hadn't gone. It's generally packed with people who don't know how to use carts, and can't control their seven kids under the age of five. That said, Costco is a pretty solid place to do your bulk shopping. Get a 96-pack of granola bars or a vat of face cream. Just don't become too reliant on any one product, because it's often here today gone tomorrow, and no matter how much you protest, they won't give you a rain check on the two-pack of Frosted Mini Wheats. Also, it's not fun to meander through the "gift" and clothing section (last night there were a bunch of douchebags standing around a player piano that was somehow emitting Celine Dion's voice), but I do recommend checking out the computer and home shiz, because you never know what you'll find. My parents were thiiiiis close to purchasing a retractable and inflatable queen-sized guest bed. And I did persuade the mother to buy a huge collection of Sharpies. The long lines suck, both in the store, and outside at the food court, but the nonfat froyo is pretty much worth it.... read more

The produce section has a lot of organic items, but, not all of the organic items were available non-organic (i.e. there were organic whole carrots, but, not non-organic whole carrots). Worst Costco anywhere. My visit begins with a return, Tillamook aged cheddar because the wrapper had a box cutter cut on one side. I am busy and don't have time to inspect every article I purchase. The person behind the return counter says, "funny, that is the second one today". Shopping inside, I pick up baby clothes for a baby shower at work. I look up at the price and grab a second. I grab a box of strawberries, put it in the cart and some other items. I am setting things down to be checked out and I notice serious mold on the Strawberries in the middle. I get the cashier's attention and ask to have one of the people wondering around get me another box. Wait she says. I start checking out and after I am done, they send someone to get me non-moldy strawberries. While I am waiting, I do something I rarely do; I check out the receipt. Looking at the receipt; I notice that I have paid twice the price listed on the sign. I mention it and they say, oh, that price was for the box of slippers at the end of the table. What, so in order for her to know that, you must have had other complaints. So they know, customers are mislead, but don't move the sign or the items. A manager walks by, and I point this out. He says, he knows about it. I ask, if you know customers are being mislead, why not move the sign? His face gets red, says nothing and walks away. I get home and open up a blueberry muffin and it is empty. I took a picture but I don't see how to post it here. What you see is what you get ... today. It may not be here tomorrow, so if you intend to buy, do it today. Relaxing shopping: Let's see, warfare in the parking lot, sample stations clogging up every aisle, checkout line from hell. Don't come here for relaxation. Why do I come here? Best prices on paper towels, TP, Aluminum foil, swiffer pads (when they have them), kleenex and zip-locks, not to mention giant bricks of cheese and frozen foods, I like the seafood offerngs in particular. Inexpensive camping gear, sheets, shorts and socks. I never returned anything, but it's nice to know I could. Friendly Service: Yeah, amazing considering the constant crowds. They get the third star for their staff. Those folks have tough physically demanding jobs, my hat is off to them.
