This is a fast casual Mexican restaurant. When you walk in, there's a large menu board where you can then order your dish. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with red sauce. They default to making it with flour tortillas. When I asked for corn tortillas, they asked if it was a preference or an allergy. I said it was a preference. It was kind weird. Anyways, the chicken was kind of dry and the red sauce was a little bit on the drier side. The plate came with a side of rice and beans. The refried beans were very blended. The rice had a lemon tang to it. The price point here is lower. You can get a plate for about $10 which is very cheap. But the food overall is just okay. Not bad. I attempted to order on the app with no success and then attempted to call and waited about 5 minutes on hold with no answer, so we headed over. We came about 40 min before close and they were still working which is nice to see (some restaurants simply stop trying when it's about time to close). We were helped quickly and followed social distancing suggestions. The employees were all wearing masks. It's seemed really loud even though there were only 3 customers including us. This location is the best one I've been to I. The valley. The staff is unbelievably friendly and helpful. The assistant manager was helping me and she was so kind. The guy cleaning behind her was so nice too, asking how my day was going and had a smile on his face. Mathias was at the checkout and informed me I could upgrade my drink on the kids meal, I never knew that was even an option and was informative about the app and the benefit to me. Costa Vida Catered our high school mountain bike race and fed the riders and their families - a total of 350 people! It was an outdoor event, and they brought the food, set it up and helped server the food. The food was amazing, and the Costa Vida staff were so great!! Seemed like the staff was rushing to complete orders they did not stop to listen to our needs. As an out of town visitor it was very frustrating to order. I asked for just a bean burrito and without pausing he started to add in cheese and beef and other toppings. I had to stop him multiple times to repeat "I only want beans." And "I'm actually vegetarian can I just have beans only?" His response was frustration that he's never had to make a vegetarian burrito before and did not know what to do. read more

I felt like a salad, so I decided to stop in here instead of going to their competitor, because their lines aren't as long, and to their toppings seem to be just a little bit better quality. Today when I was checking out, there were two barcode scanners that kept flashing on the counter. I have epilepsy, so this is dangerous! I initially didn't say anything, but I had to flip them face down so I wouldn't have a seizure. I told the manager at the register "sorry, I have epilepsy and these keep flashing in my face so that's why I flipped them over." This dude... this guy proceeds to pick one up and WAVE HIS HAND over the scanner and say "yeah it's motion censored." So, I just told you I have epilepsy and I'm trying not to have seizures, and your response is to intentionally make the device flash lights in my eyes?! The last several times I have been my order has been incomplete and the employees act annoyed when you have to go back into the store to have them fix the order....their mistake, NOT mine!! I can't say enough about this place (store #0042) they rock. I ordered an online order last night and when I finally got over there they couldn't find the order ANYWHERE! So they sat me down and really very nicely took care of me so they could fix their horrible mistake... well, I'm sure you guessed it. I didn't push the VERY LAST CONFIRM BUTTON ! My partner and I just visited the Jordan Landing Costa Vida. We ordered the same order we get every time, 2 salads with no meat and pork enchiladas. Our pork enchilada always has "2 extra" sides of sauce. We always ask for no meat on the salads, just a bit more rice and beans instead. This has never been an issue. Today one of your managers, Sabrina, was there. She did her job in making sure we were charged for the two extra sauces, and then proceeded to tell the cashier our salads had extra rice and beans and to charge us we have never heard this charge before. I've been making this order since 2010 when I first started going to Costa Vida. I've never heard of this charge. So my boyfriend asks why we have never been charged that with no meat. Sabrina continued to BERATE us, telling us we asked for double rice and beans, we get charged. My boyfriend calmly explained we had no meat, and hadn't been charged this before. Sabrina continued to get heated and say she will call her General manager "right now" in a very immature manner. My boyfriend asked the cashier for her name as she was still loudly complaining, at which point she laughed at us. The cashier calmly explained the no-meat salad charge with the extra rice and beans in a calm, understandable manner and we clearly understood. This nice young man was probably half Sabrina's age, but acted twice it. Sabrina as she was laughing and yelling at us telling us how when we complain, we will be told her price is correct, while we got our drink. My partner replied, "Our complaint is that your customer service is lacking." And Sabrina yelled over customers, "Sorry you're just trying to save a buck." Which was extremely rude and offensive. I said, "Wow, that was no way to treat a customer," and she laughed at me and said, "I love it!" My partner and I have no need to "save a buck" and were just wondering why this charge had never been mentioned before. Unfortunately, this is not the first time Sabrina has treated us poorly. We were in one time when the store was out of beans I wanted and it caught me off guard and I had to rethink my order. She had no patience for me and was very rude telling me people were waiting and acting anxious, tapping and sighing because I didn't want refried beans on my salad. I usually give people and places a chance to have a bad day. This offensive, extremely rude treatment was over the top. To the point of being laughed at by a manager in front of a store full of customers? Sabrina needs some serious training on how to talk to customers. I was so impressed with the way they handled everything. I made a family order on Sinco di Mayo, of all days, and I had to wait about an hour. Now, the reason I am giving them a five star rating is the way they kept talking to everyone in the parking lot waiting for the food. They even helped a couple people find a different restaurant. A guy came up with an order for Cafe Rio, and they gladly gave him directions on how to get there. I requested a small sweet pork salad with extra sweet pork. I asked for no beans , there was hardly any pork, very little rice and almost all lettuce. My wife wanted a cheese enchilada with extra cheese. W asked for a large house dressing and a large sour cream. When I got to my car I checked to make sure we got everything. They left out the sour cream so I went back in to get it. But I was a little disappointed on Saturday when I ordered a sweet pork burrito and there was hardly any meat in my burrito. My husband had a chicken burrito and he complained about the same thing. Went here recently with a few coworkers. Most of us were getting a burrito, myself included. I have been to Café Rio multiple times and immediately knew I was being short changed here. The amount of meat I watched them put in my burrito was far less than expected. My buddy in front of me also had a burrito and was taking his turn at the cash register. He got a soft drink and was told his total was nearly $13, he glanced over at me with wide eyes, nearly in shock. I about crapped my pants and asked for a water cup when it was my turn at the register. My total was just over $10. Yeah, $10 for a burrito and nothing else. I've eaten at this location a few times before, definitely nothing memorable. Every time I eat here I remember why I should have just made the drive to Cafe Rio. Why I even go back every few months is a mixure of convenience, forgetfulness, and hope. Last night my husband picked me up a steak quesadilla. I was so hungry, which makes this all the sadder, the quesadilla was wadded up in piece of tinfoil. It's deformed shape made it difficult to eat. It got worse from there. The cheese was seriously lacking, and the steak looked like beef jerky. Even someone who likes thier steak well done would take issue. Not only did it look like beef jerky, it's texture was exactly the same. It took a lot of chewing, and it had no flavor. I had to peel back the wad and break out the salt. They had no sour cream, lucky for me I had it at home. Something had to balance out the dryness of that meat! The one plus was the rice. It's was the only positive of my meal. Unfortunately from the moment I walked in, I had a bad vibe due to the obvious lack of attentiveness. The woman making my food took a lot of liberties with it like throwing rice on it without asking if I wanted it, I had requested a double tortilla that they attempted to charge me for even though it was not provided, over half of the ingredients options were skipped and I had my burrito taken away and wrapped up (no double tortilla) smothered and covered and thrown onto a heat conveyer before I could say a thing. Then I was left with a slimy drenched burrito with but half the ingredients I had wanted, and some I did not want. I had her put 4 ingredients On the side so I could some how still eat them together. The burrito ended up being a very gross eating experience. Extremely messy and everything seemed to have a little gelatinous touch. The shrimp and the sauces were both very poor quality ingredients. I had walked in planning on getting a steak and shrimp burrito I could grab and eat on the go. I ended up with a messy plate of something different. At the counter they tried to charge me for an extra tortilla, no drink offered and just asked me for my card. Will never come back to this establishment or any other location. The food was far less than satisfactory aside from the bad experience, there is a lot to be learned by giving your customers options to choose from. Was really disappointed today in this location. They were out of chicken and rice. We were promised "double meat" to make up for it. What we ended up with was about 1/2 of the normal serving.
