He offered to pay for our dinner, which was an incredibly generous gesture and very much appreciated. The whole situation was a little awkward because we could see staff at the front discussing the situation and looking over at our table, but then no one actually came back to check on us. When we were ready to leave, I finally got up and asked if there was anything we needed to do before leaving. Thankfully, the manager confirmed everything had been taken care of. I really have to give credit to the restaurant managers for recognizing the situation and doing their best to make it right.
