First off this is not sit down and order dining which is what I was looking for tonight. It's like Chipotle that you go through the line and try to hear their masked up muffled questions. Ok so get past that (too much pressure to pick what I want) and get it all together. They are served in to go containers too. Anyway. The plus side is it was very very good and way above Chipotle. I had a chicken salad with mango dressing excellent and hubs had a sweet barbecue pork burrito which was amazing. Very reasonably priced. You don't get chips and salsa it is extra. We needed a quick meal before shopping so decided to try the new Costa Vida out by Fred's in Eagle. Never been to one before, but give them a try seemed fair. This is one of these Mex-fresh type places. You order and take it to your table. Although it looks like a limited choice menu, you can be flexible and they will try to suit your tastes. They fix it quickly and it is not pre-made, except the beans and rice. The tortillas are freshly made and very good. We decided to try the sweet pork salad plate and the light fare plate of a steak taco. Surprisingly, we liked their food. My wife ate every bit of her sweet pork salad. I ate every bit of my taco plate. We both thought the food was tasty and NOT too salty. We would try it again. The eating area is kept clean and tables are spaced so you can eat comfortably. Both high chairs and normal height seating and tables are available. We are not really fast food aficionados, but we liked Costa Vida. read more

They are not offering any social distancing or personal protection on the inside the store. They have shut down a few tables but no employees have any safety measures like masks or gloves. And the worst is to order you need to stand in a winding line 3 layers deep offering no distance between customers that are shoulder to shoulder. This place is yummy, very similar to cafe Rio but I think the place is a bit cleaner in the kitchen. The food is always prepared well and the staff is very friendly and helpful. One down fall is the parking is limited but there is a drive through. My favorite is the sweet pork and the queso and chips. I love me some burritos. Costa makes a dandy. But I got their Baja Burrito Bowl thinking it would fill me up like their burrito, and it did not. Fair warning, you'll think you ordered from they niño menu. Still love this place. Just wasn't ready for the disappointment of the Baja Bowl. read more

I tried this place for the first time and will be the last. I had a problem with everything that they did, and took about 15 minutes for a shrimp burrito. Then wrapped it up before putting anything in it. Then they wanted me to purchase a big bowl of chips with salsa to go with it. Two burritos and a small soda $25 bucks... To call it "Fresh Mexican" food is a joke onto itself because there was nothing fresh or Mexican about it, it was our first time there and the staff wasn't very helpful, the burrito was super bland lacking even the simplest of flavor and ingredients, and very chintzy with the ingredients, and they come on the side? What's the point of a burrito if you put the ingredients on the side like a salad?! And having to pay extra for a teaspoon amount of onions, was a joke. Nothing special about this location. The food is good, but not outstanding. I'm taking deductions for service. I hate being rushed through, I want to be able to tell you what I want in the order I want. If there is a manager, he or she should at least be doing their job at a time when they are needed most! This place is a disaster! One person inside is taking the order and putting food in container...then it goes down the line to where 4-5 people are just standing around, waiting for what? ....and the orders pile up and they keep trying to give someone else's order to the soccer mom in front of me who placed 4 orders, reading each little detail off her phone and then asking for 'more than a few extras'....and all the while, 6 more people in line behind me are asking 'why isn't this line moving?' LOVE Costa but for some reason haven't been too impressed by this one. We live close so we were very excited to have one open next to us, but it doesn't seem to be as good as the others. I love the sweet pork but every time I have ordered it here I always get big chunks of fat which takes up most of my meat. My salads have been under filled and we watched a coworker take lettuce out of my bowl as she was making it. Very impressed with the staff and service, much friendlier than the other locations. One employee handed me a lid and straw for my drink and a different employee opened the door noticing my hands was full. The manager is doing an awesome job teaching young employees customer service. Very disappointed. They seem to be very selective on how much meat goes on every entree. I order the enchiladas and it looked as if I had order two quesadillas with some shredded beef. I don't know if the employee was just been lazy because she was almost out the shredded and maybe did not want to ask or go get some more but overall experience was very disappointing. I've been to Costa Vida probably 3 times in total and they literally rush you through the line and just expect you to know what is going on. No customer service what so ever. Out of all the 3 times I have been there it has never been super busy to where they would need to rush the line. First time to a Costa Vida. I was really hoping for something authentic like in LA or Mexico. Seems like only flour tortillas here. The ambiance was OK for a little Mexican place. Sweet pork? Ugh, don't we get enough sugar already? I'm not widely traveled but that does not seem authentic to me. I thought the menu board confusing and the help behind the counter seemed disorganized. Careful with the condiments, some included and some cost extra and they don't tell you ahead. They were doing a good business tho. I thought the prices were high, al la carte didn't seem to be an option, I just wanted a taco. I won't go again, I'll go to Emmett or Caldwell or Campos in Boise and get the real deal. read more
