I have yet to go inside this restaurant as I always use the drive thru, but it seems to be as popular inside as the drive thru is. Ordering is easy, don't get overwhelmed. Pick your combo, decide if you want cheese on it, then choose your spice level. You can also change your side out for something different if the fries aren't your preference. I have tried every flavor from medium-reaper, I am a huuuge spicy gal. The reaper was indeed very spicy, I was able to finish it. However, it was one of the spiciest things I've eaten in a long time. It had my eyes watering, my nose running away, and I was panting like a dog trying to finish this sandwich. Definitely give it a try if you like spicy. What really made my visit special was finding out that all their chicken is Halal! As someone who looks for Halal options, this was a huge win. Even better, they proudly display their Halal Certificate for transparency -- I've attached a photo for anyone curious! The staff were friendly, the service was fast, and the vibe was fun and welcoming. It's not every day you find a spot that nails both the taste and dietary standards so well. The boys in Blue Öyster Cult had it down right when they said Don't Fear the Reaper. At least where Dave's Carolina Reaper slider is concerned. I thought heat had finally met its match when I read a news story saying Dave's made customers sign a liability waiver when ordering a sandwich or chicken tender including Carolina Reaper peppers. "You acknowledge that eating the REAPER can cause you harm, including, but not limited to, bodily injury, property damage, emotional distress, or even death," the waiver reads, according to news reports. I wouldn't know since the staff at the Meridian restaurant didn't mention anything about a waiver and didn't even warn me that I could die or suffer a worse fate after eating my sandwich. Still, I didn't take any chances. I ordered a chocolate milkshake to go with my meal. Milk helps pull away the capsaicin, the pain-invoking compound found in chile peppers. Soda pop, beer or water just spreads the burn. Here's what Tim Carman of the Washington Post wrote about his experience: "When I finally grabbed my order of reaper chicken, I could feel the heat before I tasted it. Its mix of chile peppers, including the Carolina Reaper with its 2.2 million Scoville units, vaporized and entered my system via the nose, like a virus. Hot was not overpowering but could start to feel a little bit, really I would have gone up to very hot now knowing what I know. His goal was to create the best Hot Chicken. I recently visited Dave's Hot Chicken in Meridian for the first time. I ordered Dave's #5 ($7.99) - 1 Chicken Tender with Fries, served with sliced bread, pickles and Dave's sauce. There are 7 seasoning options available, ranging from No Spice to Reaper; I chose Hot. This was my first time trying Nashville-style hot chicken. The chicken tender was large and coated with seasoning. The meat inside was tender and steaming hot. My chicken tender was indeed Hot. I liked the seasoning, though there was a slightly sweet note that I didn't care for. Most will find the slight sweetness a nice balance to the heat. The chicken tender was fairly large. My photo does not do it justice. If I had ordered two chicken tenders, I would have ended up taking one of them home. The french fries were excellent! I loved Dave's sauce, which paired perfectly as a dipping sauce for both the chicken and fries. It's by far the best package sauce of its kind that I've ever tried. There are also packets of Crystal Hot Sauce available, which has been a Louisiana favorite since 1923. The pickles were great too! The service was excellent! I liked the fun decor. The only thing I didn't like about Dave's Hot Chicken was how loud it was due to all of the hard surfaces. But there is drive-through window, and everything is cooked to order, so it's perfect for take-out. If the reason you haven't visited Dave's Hot Chicken yet is because you don't like spicy food, keep in mind that they do have chicken available at all levels of spice, including No Spice, which is going be like a nice fried chicken tender. When I visited their Denver location a couple months ago, I left thinking I had just eaten the best hot chicken ever. So, you can imagine my utter excitement when I saw their post announcing the opening day! I was so hyped. Sadly, the delivery feel just slightly short of my expectations. My husband and I stopped by a little after 5:30 and it was pretty packed. I ordered Dave's #2 (2 sliders and fries, served with kale slaw, pickles and Dave's sauce, $13.99) and a side of Mac & Cheese ($4.99). I hadn't had the Mac & Cheese before, and it was fantastic! Thick, creamy and lots of cheese generously sized to justify the price. SO MUCH BETTER than Panera's overpriced, tasteless, insult of a dish. I wish I ordered two sides of it! Unfortunately, the sliders were just not it this time. I requested them to be made HOT, which is what I'd ordered before, and it was WEAK AF. Not sure if someone just made it wrong, or if there is inconsistency throughout the restaurants. Still good chicken and delicious, just not what I wanted. I'll be back though. Just tried them today running errands down in 'the Valley' as we call it up here. We don't have Dave's in my old hometown of Yakima, WA, or in nearby Tri-Cities, so as a new Idaho native, I needed to at least try it. Ordered chicken bites and french fries. The chicken was moist, and very flavorful. I got the super hot rub, and it wasn't over the top. It did make my nose run a bit, but it wasn't uncomfortable to eat. They have the choice of chicken sandwiches or chicken tenders. You also have the choice of heat level for your chicken. I like a little bit of spice, I ordered the mild and it wasn't spicy at all. Next time I would choose the medium option to add some more spice. Their Dave's sauce was very good and went so well with the hot chicken. I think one of the highlights is their fries that have the perfect amount of seasoning. The only thing that I wish they had that they didn't was some ranch to put on my sandwich. You should all try this place for yourself and support their opening. My notes: The dining area is large. Two people taking orders and we didn't have to wait at 5:00 pm on Thursday. Napkin dispensers are available where you pick up your food and at the soda fountain. (None at the table) Meals start at $9.99 (1 slider and a side) and do not include a drink. For my $11.99 meal (2 chicken strips and a side) I think it should come with a drink. You can add a tender for $4.69 but I think that's a ridiculous price. It was a nice piece of white chicken but not for $4.69! The hot was hot lol I won't say too much on the spices because this varies greatly by person. The bread that comes with the meals needs to be toasted or something. It's just a plain piece of bread. They offer fry sauce, ketchup and honey. We had no wait went on a Thursday around 1130am. Wow.. the flavor profile is on point. The bun is a potato bun, a soft and great vehicle for the bird. The chicken came out hot, juicy, and that first bite was all crunch. The coolness of the kale slaw, the sauce, and the savory pickles are perfect flavor combo, ensuring you go in for that next bite. It was a spicy heat but addicting. The fries were ok; we just couldn't get enough of the chicken. The sandwich was large, not a small appetizer slider. I had plenty after one slider; my husband ate the 2nd slider easily. There is plenty of rub on the chicken, I thought I would be drinking water for the rest of the day, but that wasn't the case. I recommend a milkshake instead of soda. I felt a residual burn left after 60 min. I have only had that one other time. A milkshake helped extinguish the burn. If you are wanting to prove your metal on the HOT chicken, you have been warned. That chicken has not been basted in reaper sauce but coated in reaper powder. These are two entirely different affects. Only thing here I don't recommend would be the milkshake (real ice cream) is brain freeze in a cup that would come in 2nd to soft serve every time. I went by for free slider day and wasn't disappointed. I got the free slider (quite large as far as tiny sandwiches go) made "light heat". It was a notch above mild and had enough heat for me; although I often try the full heat too. The piece of thick chicken was as big as any very large chicken tender. Meaty and somewhat juicy, it was good. The pickles added to the flavor but were a bit mushy. The brioche bun was great but didn't hold together the whole time I was eating. There was another sauce on the bun that seemed to be a mayonnaise mix. The best thing on the sandwich was the KALE COLESLAW. Not a lot of it but was extremely nice and crunchy. I could eat it alone. I had a Coke Zero with the sandwich, it's not on the drive through board but was shown online. They do carry it. Didn't taste quite right though. The service was fast and friendly. We are here a few weeks ago and I totally forgot to write a review. First and foremost very clean location with lots of helpful employees. You do order then sit down. We did a Yelp check in and they gave us a free milkshake which was awesome because we were able to try their milkshakes and definitely that was 10/10. In regards to the food, it's good chicken, nothing out of this world. I love that you have the option to choose your seasoning to it (from mild to spicy). We tried one with no seasoning at all (for my little one) a mild for me and a spicy for my husband. All were 10/10. If you're in the mood for tasting a few flavors I would suggest getting the sliders. They are a great size and you can taste a few flavors. The location is really cool. Ample parking outside.
