I found this place on Apple news article talking about the best sandwich places in every state. I tried Hugo's and the service was fast and friendly. The sandwiches were good but the best in the state I'm not sure. All and all I would definitely go back, end recommend giving him a try. I had the Hugo special, next time I try it heated up and toast it if they do that sort of thing. read more

Been coming here for many years. Their deli fries are amazing and unlike anything else out there....like chicken fried mashed potatoes with a crunchy crust. Sandwiches have plenty of meat and are fresh tasting every time. Another consistent at this location is a middle aged woman who is rude and pushy. Last visit I almost walked out because of her attitude. If you don't like working there and dealing with the public...find another job lady. read more

Nope, not the place for a French dip sandwich. The roll needs a hard exterior and no hot mustard made available. Still trying to find a decent French Dip not some totally misaligned thing that bears no resemblance to a French dip. There out to be a law against advertising a French dip unless it actually has the right ingredients - sort of like bubbly wine can only be called Champagne if it comes from that region of France or like mezcal can only be called Tequila if it is grown and processed in Tequila, Mexico. Truth in advertising is badly needed in this Idaho food marketplace. read more

Well, Hugo's location is not optimal, it IS fairly reachable. Parking is probably the worst attribute of this dining establishment. However, once you're inside you definitely get the feel that it is a cozy little sandwich shop. The staff are always polite and speedy on the order. Food is always fresh and has great flavor. I have had the meatball sandwich most recently, but I usually get the pastrami Reuben and it's really tasty. Griddle grilled and fresh sliced meats with a tangy sauce and some nice sauerkraut. All the flavors blend well together. Their fries are very unique and I think this is their signature. It appears they mash potatoes and season them, then form them into the shape of a fry rolling them in some type of seasoning and cornstarch and then deep-fried l. Really tasty with nice texture, unless you'd like real super crispy snappy fries. I prefer the softer inside, there's just something about it that's different and tasty. When you first go in you, walk up to the counter and select from the overhead menu boards. You pay and get your beverage cup to self serve behind you at the soda dispenser. They don't have root beer but most of the other flavors. They offer iced tea and lemonade as well nearby. Here you grab your napkins but don't forget to ask for condiments while you're at the counter. I believe this is a food Cost cutting procedure recently introduced to avoid waste. They'll ask for your name and then bring the food out when it's ready. The portions are pretty big so go hungry. I don't believe I've ever carried leftovers away. I've not had a bad experience here yet. I can't give it a five star because the decor could be improved, and the seating area could be a little more exciting. So my husband has this thing. No one can order the same thing at a restaurant. Weird I know but it's just a thing we do. We walked into Hugo's today and he ordered MY sandwich. The Santana. That's what I get for letting him order first. So I had to get Santana's sister: The Rachael. I mean ok, they are pretty similar but they are not. BUT come on, the Santana is grilled. That instantly moves it up a notch in my book. Hello...grilled marbled rye bread. Ok, so which sandwich are we talking about here??? Both I think. I'm confused too. The Rachael is corned beef, Swiss, coleslaw and mayo- served cold. The Santana is hot pastrami, provolone, thousand island, coleslaw and grilled. Yeah. Insert sigh for both. Maybe they will grill the Rachael for me. Hmmm...that could be a game changer. So go get one...or get both...and then let me know which one you prefer. And try their cheesecake. Fast service, just underwhelming. This is honestly the first time I have NOT said, "Mmmm..." after the first bite of a Ruben. In a good Ruben, you can taste each component individually, and then they combine to create at heavenly taste. In a blind taste test, I doubt I could have identified this as a Ruben. Contents as follows: Hot Corned Beef - unremarkable and indistinguishable flavor Swiss Cheese - present, slightly detectable Marble rye - wondered if it was actually marbled white bread for a moment until tasted alone Sauerkraut - checked to make sure it wasn't actually microwaved lettuce it was so NOT sauer Pickles -actually decent and individually detectable! Mustard - had to look because you couldn't taste it at all Thousand Island Dressings - not on mine! Would I go back, maybe I'd give them another try of a different sandwich, but never a Ruben again, they just aren't done well at Hugo's. read more

Love their deli sandwiches! I've eaten them two days in a row now, they are so yummy! They are so fast at making the sandwiches so don't skip this place if you're in a rush because chances are they will get it out to you pretty quickly. I have enjoyed their fries they've been making for years, with their fry sauce! I wouldn't necessarily say they have crunchy fries at all whatsoever, they are more on the soft potato side but they have this really good batter on them that makes them taste good. I think they do really well at putting the deli meat portions on your sandwich. They don't skimp on that part. All in all I really like this place! read more

From out of state and my son & I ordered the Louie sandwich, less roast beef & honey mustard, and added some extras. Wow just wow - absolutely amazing sandwich. Can't say I've had better. The sandwich was loaded very well with everything. The sourdough hoagie is amazing and has a wonderful sourdough flavor. We could each only finish half of our sandwich and had the other half the next day and even being a day old it was equally as good. Highly recommend!! Can't wait to go back! read more
