Sandwiches are great, but $4.49 for chips and drink are excessive! Get it to go and take it home.

Nothing fancy, just a lunch counter type place with awesome fresh thick fries and massive selection of sandwiches.

Great sandwiches properly prepared and served. The pastrami, corned beef and turkey sandwiches are easily my favorites.

The finger steaks were really good, but the sandwich was lacking. I would go back for the finger steaks.

They watched me wait at the checkout stand and when a young guy finally came to help me, he didn't say a word to me threw everything in a bag and then threw the bag up on the counter like I wasn't good enough for his time or presence. It was disheartening and I wouldn't want anyone else to go in here excited to buy and support a small business and then be disappointed and disrespected the way I was. Other customers seemed to be treated differently and if you're black or brown in Idaho, you know when you're unwelcome.

When I lasted visited I was looking for French holiday chocolates. Obviously, I didn't find any. More specifically, the French holiday chocolates are called Papillotes. Papillotes are wrapped like little presents and have decorative ribbons and tassles at the end. We did find similar chocolates in the bins by the meats and cheese. Those chocolates were good not as good as French or Belgium chocolates but its as close as we're going to find in the Boise area. We have not purchased any other items but perhaps when my Mom is back in March, we'll purchase some Mortadella for her to try. We moved to Star from out of state two years ago. We had read about Uncle Guiseppe's and wanted to…read moretry it, but hadn't gotten around to it yet. Today, our friend brought us to Garden City to walk along the river, and then over to Uncle Guiseppe's for lunch. It is a small, seemingly authentic New York deli that serves a great number of different sandwiches, along with specialty drinks, like sodas, sparkling water, and lemonade. They also well things like pastries and, of interest to us, jarred roasted tomatoes. My wife had the #9 Monte Cristo, and I had the #3 Bonanza. Delicious. I also had a Manhattan Special Black Cherry soda, also super yummy. My mistake, not realizing what I was doing, was to order "whole" vs "half" sandwiches. The whole are footlong. I ate the entire sandwich, holy moly! My wife brought half home. Next time I would probably order a half. The owner, who I will call Guiseppe, had the heavy East Coast accent, and checked on all of his customers, making sure they were happy and satisfied. This place is a little gem. We're already talking about our next visit to Garden City to walk and have lunch at Uncle Guiseppe's!

My Rooster's bomb had amazing flavors, the sandwich was dripping with juice while eating it. Service was good. Food presentation wasn't nice, just plain but it isn't a high end restaurant. There's a lot of tables and bar type seating at the window. I loved the country type decor and all the roosters everywhere. It's a really cute venue. If I had to describe this restaurant, I would compare it to a cafeteria. You place your order and everything from that point on is self serve. We placed our order at the front register. I got the 2 eggs combo with sausage. My husband got the ham breakfast sammy with sourdough. We grabbed a table and our drinks while our food was being worked on. They has one coffee dispenser for coffee. The coffee looked really dark so I added some hot water to it. Unfortunately, with the addition of the hot water, my coffee was still luke warm. It was drinkable but it would have been nice to have a hot cup of it. My husband grabbed his drink from the soda machine. All of the straws, coffee creamers and utensils were on the side to help yourself to. Food came out pretty fast. My eggs were fried nicely. The sausage was warm but not really hot. The hashbrowns were nicely golden but not really hot. They did give me a good portion of the country gravy. The only thing that was piping hot was the pancake syrup that I got for my sausage. My husband enjoyed his sammy. He did appreciate that the ham was sliced thin and it wasn't a huge chunk of ham. After you're done, they have you clear off your own plates, silverware and cups. Tipping throws me off at this point cause what are we tipping you for? They don't fill got drinks, remove any of your plates or even check up on you. It truly is like a cafeteria. I guess I had a different impression of this joint. I thought it would be like any other breakfast joint in town. Roosters is a easy going venue if you're looking for an easy place to eat at. I'm happy I got to try it out but I probably won't be back.
