Family owned top shelf Mexican food. We have the Birra tacos, a chile rellano, and a shredded beef enchiladas with chips and salsa and two micheledas. Everything was fresh, tasty, and the chips bar is incredible. Highly suggest this place place and if you search on Facebook their name they have a $10 off coupon.

    Chicken chimichanga w/rice & beans ($12.99)

Husband & I decided to try out Metztli...small and quaint little place in Meridian. Atmosphere was relaxed. Food was good. I had a chicken chimichanga...chicken had good flavor, the rice & beans a little dry - like it was just sitting under a lamp waiting for a customer to order. My husband had a chicken Metztli burrito. He said it was flavorful...the same thoughts on beans & rice too dry. Other than that food is ok! Service was quick and hostess was nice.

I went in today after all the instagram hype about this place. I walked in and was trying to read the menu with my four year old and the waitstaff was jumping down my throat for me to order before I could even look at the menu. The restaurant had two table occupied. It was 11am and not busy. The service was good, but the cleanliness was pretty poor. There were only two other filled tables when we arrived. But, I felt the floors needs a good mopping. The salsa bar was in need of a refresh, the drink machine had out of order signs, and I went to get something and had to tell her it wasn't working and it was not changed before I left. The bathroom was not the cleaniest. The manager did stop by and ask how our meal was which was a something I really liked. I did find the food really good Mexican! I had the combination tacos w/ beans and rice. They were delicious. I would give this place another try- only thing needs inmprovement is staff/cleaning in dining room. The kitchen looked very clean from where I could see.

$10 for this amount or churros is sad!

The food wasn't bad but also wasn't good. The customer service however was HORRIBLE! Communication skills HORRIBLE. Menu isn't updated including prices. It seems like i got charged extra for using my card because the numbers just didn't add up. And $10 for these hard churros is a crime. Zero desires to come back.

Great little Mexican spot! I like that you can order single tacos or full meals. Got 2 Al pastor and a carnitas taco with the 3 shrimp taco plate. You receive complimentary chips where you can go to their topping bar and grab salsa. Shrimp tacos were delicious with a nice portion of beans and rice. Carnitas wasn't anything special but the Al pastor had great flavor! Not authentically carved/shaved off but still delicious

Came here this past week for dinner and was surprised I didn't know about this place and glad we found it...if anyone lives in the Treasure Valley you know we are starving for good Mexican joints and they are far and few between. This restaurant is located in a strip mall and would be easy to miss. Once inside hip vibe with modern accents and decor. It's taqueria style so order at the counter and they bring it to you. For dinner we started with the queso and while very good and a little spicy wasn't the typical queso we are used to. I had the birria queso tacos and the birria ramen. My wife had the arroz con camarones. Now with any Mexican joint you know my first thing is they have to mail the chips and salsa and while or queso came with chips wasn't to sure if we would've gotten chips. They have a salsa bar with lots of options including other condiments to add flavor to your dish. The chips were fresh but the salsa while the flavor was there was way to watered down for my taste. To be honest it was so thin it barely stuck to a chip. Now as far as the food goes the tacos were spot on and my favorite was the ramen. The consume broth was great and the shredded beef inside was also tasty. My wife didn't love her dish but it had great flavors. Plus the portions here are great you definitely feel like you are getting your moneys worth. They do have limited alcohol selection that I believe is mostly beer. Staff while it seemed like they were very new were friendly. The only other thing was while we were there the ice machine was jammed and didn't seem to bother any of the employees about un jamming it to allow customers ice with their beverages. Outside of those few things I would definitely come back and try some other items for sure.

Saw an Instagram video about this place and wanted to give it a try. Have mixed feelings about the experience. There's pros and cons here. Pros: Place is small but clean and modern, decent menu selection, nice salsa and topping bar Cons: Service was just meh, not unfriendly but not helpful either, small seating area is cramped and backs of diners' chairs smash each other, food was just so-so, have had better for less money at local taco trucks. The quesabirria plate wasn't on the menu so I asked the woman taking our order the price and she said she wasn't sure but thought it was around $10-12, so I figured it was worth trying. Turns out it was $15.99. Three of us had lunch for $60 and it was just okay. Worth trying but we likely will not go back.

It's one of those places where you don't feel like you're sacrificing quality just because it's discounted. The happy hour menu itself is a win too. Great variety, everything came out quick, and the portions were better than most places offering "deals." You can actually make a full meal out of it without spending much. Service was on point, attentive without hovering, and the overall vibe made it easy to relax and stay a while. If you're looking for a spot with real value during happy hour, this is it. Definitely coming back.

Yes! Finally a Mexican place in the Boise area that I can rate 5-stars. This is no "Sysco…read moreMexican" place where sitting down means you get a basket of chips and saucers of jar salsa and pinto-lard puree. You can taste the Oaxacan and Tex-Mex origins of the food. I prefer Oaxacan over Tex-Mex. Flavorful, with depth, and leaves you wanting to come back. Service was decent as it was busy. The ambiance is more of a modern restaurant than a tacky Tijuana vomit vest. The dia de los meurtos vibe is pretty cool. Ceviche was fresh and flavorful. While I like a little white fish in it as well, their ceviche was the best I've had since spending time down in the Yucatan. The freshly prepared tortilla chips are crisp and built to scoop. Their regular salsa is very good as well. Personal taste, but I would like a little more roast on the peppers for a deeper flavor. You know, like you get when peppers are directly placed on hot coals to roast. The birria flautas were crispy and the meat was spot on in terms of flavor and perfectly cooked pork. I had a couple bites of the surf and turf tacos - bam! So good. Their home cooked churros with the churro fried ice cream were absolutely perfect. The ice cream coating, I would give 4-stars as the exterior was a bit chewy in texture for me. It was almost as if there oats used to hold it together. Yeah, we'll be back.

My wife ordered a chile rellano and an enchilda. I ordered camarones diabla, one of my favorite dishes. My wife had a coke and I had water. My wife really enjoyed her food, and there was plenty of it, as she brought some home. In my dish, the shrimp were nice and plump, which was great, and the sauce was flavorful, though not as good as at another place I frequent. There were small pieces of mushroom, but there were also a lot of strips of onion, which I'm not a fan of. Just my personal taste. They charge $3.50 for a soda, and for that price, my wife asked for a refill to go. She thought our server was perhaps a bit displeased that she made this request, but we feel that it is reasonable, given the price tag for soda that comes from a machine. All in all, we enjoyed our experience at La Cabanita, and will return, we happen to be in the area (we live in Star).
