After an exhaustive search, following a tearful goodbye to my 30+ years of dedication to a shop near home, I settled-in at a Cost Cutters in Cromwell. The price is right, the service very fast, the level of staffing equated to no wait time. The time of day may have factored heavily, but it was a Monday at 4:00 pm. Go figure. I enjoyed the conversation with my Hair (in my case Disaster) Specialist, without missing a moment to clip! I was even asked if I'd like it shorter. I said, "Yes, please." This salon has undergone staff shortages since the pandemic. But I have remained loyal to Cromwell Costcutters because of the dedicated stylists. I have frequented this location in the past but don't think I will be returning anymore. They are unfortunately short staffed and do not have someone working the front desk full time. I recently had to call 11 times on a weekday mid-morning just to have someone answer the phone. If they don't answer, they do not have voice-mail set up. It's frustrating. On my last visit I also found staff members to be short with myself and the person accompanying me. Not the best customer service here anymore unfortunately. read more

Horrible at cutting hair. I went 3 years ago because my normal barber was closed that weekend and i really needed a cut. I asked for a high fade, and it was a disaster. The lady there just shaved all my hair from the sides and left the top there. She faded nothing and the lineup was uneven like a hill. I walked out in tears it took me 3 months to recover. Do NOT recommend at all if i can give 0 stars i would. The low price is not worth getting messed up for 3 months. read more

I NEVER write reviews and I've been contemplating this one for days. I have been coming to this cost-cutter location for at least 12 years. With that said, I have recently received the worst haircut or lack of it, I've ever had. Now, I won't say the NAMES but I will say this. I have given this new group of styles the benefit of the doubt for at last 3 cuts. Each one was worst than the next and I'm told these are experienced stylizes. They are always short-staffed and rushed. Always customers waiting for their 5-minute haircuts... For my last 3 cuts, I was lucky to have the attention of the styles for less than 10 minutes. I tried to tell the girl things were not right but I was rushed out of the chair with 2 or 3 people waiting, It was 8 in the morning. I now color my own hair for lack of attention once sitting in the chair. It once went over the time recommended, like 15 minutes.... It's like an assembly line with horrible customer service. It makes me sad to see this reputable place go down the dumps. I won't be back and I have gift certificates I will never use...I give 0 stars. Jim, you have to step it up! read more

I'd leave a zero rating if possible. Got hired. got stuck in traffic in the rain on a highway that is going threw massive renovations. was 15 mins late. Legally you have 15 minutes before you're considered late & she was rude in front of clients. Brenda will be rude & treat you like crap in front of customers for being technically on time. Lindsey was incredible!!! I just left there and i can't stop flipping my hair in a mirror!! I have been cutting my own hair for years but once I decided to experiment with straightening it I realized how much I had been botching it!! She cut off much less than I thought she would have to (despite having given her carte Blanche to do as she would) and did it so that I had over a half hour to spare in my allotted time for the morrning. Thanks to Lindsey not only will my children have toilet paper at hand they have a wonderfully groomed mother passing it discretely through a slightly cracked door!! Thank you Lindsey!!! All joking aside I have never left a single review in my life but I need to thank you!! I was in last week for a highlight. Lindsey was really great, took the time to talk to me about what I wanted and advise me of options. I was very happy with the results and have gotten lots of compliments. I've been coloring my hair blonde the past few years and no salon has been able to give me the results she did. She nailed the color! She also didn't pressure me to cut my hair or buy any products, which was refreshing because I always get that from other salons. I will definitely keep coming back and get my hair highlights here. She is also great with kids. She cut my toddler's hair on a different day and was very patient with him. Have been going to Cost Cutters for years. Not because of prices but because of Michele. She always listens and then advises me as I am definitely not a hairstylist. Had an opportunity for a freebie from another hairdresser and had to run back to Michele to fix the disaster. Best place to get a hair cut. I have been going for years. Not all Cost Cutters are created equal so don't go into another one in another town and think it will be as great as Cromwell's. Everyone there is nice and does a fantastic job. The price is right so I give extra tip to thank the hairdresser. I have friends who pay ridiculous amounts for a basic hair cut and complain that it's so expensive. I tell them, go to the Cromwell Cost Cutters. They think an inexpensive haircut isn't as good. After years of going to Cost Cutters, I wondered if I was missing something. I went to one expensive place that was horrible. The haircut was okay but she kept burning my scalp repeatedly. I was practically begging her to please stop burning me. Go To Cromwell Cost Cutters. Save your money. Tip the hairdresser well. Have a much quicker and better experience. read more

We've been going to Cost Cutters for several years now. My twelve year old son is the client and likes to have his hair "faded" with a little bit of length left on the top. While we don't always see the same person, we have been happy with the cuts he's received. There was even a time when a "newer" young lady was cutting his hair and my son was a little nervous because he is at that age now where his appearance is perceived as "crucial" to his social game. The more seasoned staff were helping her along and even stepped in, when needed, to get him a little more clean cut than the previous young lady had! I thought it was a great idea to cut my hair and while I could have made it work my mother couldn't look at it! It was two days before Christmas and my mom was crazy mad that I had added on to her long to do list however lucky we had Cost Cutters near by. We walked in and we quickly got seated! I will say that the owner did call me very quickly after this post and left a message. The woman who treated my child as if he didn't exist was the salon MANAGER!!! i went to there to get a haircut for myself and my 3 year old son. considering his age he was very cooperative, but the lady was not willing to spend an extra few minutes ( you seriously cant expect to cut a kids hair in the same amount of time that you cut an adults hair). The lady who cut my sons hair was very unprofessional, impatient, kept rushing us and was rude and did a very poor job. I was not satisfied with my hair cut at all and the person who did my cut did a very poor job. I would definetly not recommend this place to anyone. over all the service is poor. read more
