Just was there for my second haircut today with Michaela. I loved how her and the owner were discussing what coloring solution would work best for my type of hair (dry, some gray strands, and never holds color well when bleached... Not bleaching today just adding color to cover the gray hair)... I felt like they really cared about the results of my hair for the long-term not just for the one week. Most times anybody does anything with my hair involving color it comes out awful. The cut was absolutely perfect as well. Had to chop off 4 to 5 inches due to Very thin ends from my anemia... My health is improving and my hair is getting thicker and fuller. Can't wait to bring my four-year-old daughter for her haircut and follow up with many more haircuts in the future here! Just a sidenote... Make sure you bring money for a tip Because they cannot tip on credit cards. I keep forgetting this fact. I needed a last-minute haircut, and LaBella was able to accommodate me with a hairstylist named MaKayla. She was absolutely wonderful and very sweet! I went to Labella Salon and I was nervous. I've been following the Curly Girl Method and I was interested in a Deva Cut. A friend had been and seen a stylist named Corey, but when I called for an appointment, probably due to prom, Erin was the only person available so I went with it. I verified that she was trained in Deva and went with it. When I arrived for my appointment, I was about 10 minutes early. I was really surprised by the attitude of one of the stylists who was at the front desk when I got there. The receptionist was really nice and gave me paperwork but the stylist was like "well you're pretty early but I'll go let her know you're here." I wasn't a fan of that - would you have rather had me be late? Anyway, Erin took me back and she was nice enough. She evaluated my hair and explained what her through process for the cut was. Since I'd been to non-curly salons before, she explained that they'd managed to create this weird V shape at the back of my head. She evened it out and trimmed my ends a bit. She also created some shape around my face. I thought I knew deva terms because I've talked to others and we used the same terms/phrases but apparently not. She wasn't familiar with "scrunch out the crunch" and a few other terms. Although I haven't done exactly what she did for my hair (I plop it in a T-shirt before I apply product) I've been happy these last few days. She told me that I could come back if she missed anything because it can be hard to tell when you cut hair dry. I was unpleasantly surprised by the cost. My friend who saw Corey paid $70. I was charged $92. I don't know if she's a higher rank or something or if it has to do with my hair being curlier, the amount of time it took, etc but I was a bit taken a back by that. This is definitely a five star salon !! I have always had the best experience at LaBella with both Chrissy the owner and Kelsey. They are experts at doing cuts and color. My hair is thin and fine but with Kelsey's masterful haircuts people think that my hair is thick. She is very good at teaching me how to use different products to get different results! I had a "Deva cut" with Erin and could not be happier! I went to my first appointment a little apprehensive. I actually inquired if salons still do perms. I wanted my curly hair I enjoyed in the 80s lol Erin told me with Deva cut I would not need a perm. She was correct! So unusual to have a salon visit and find the next day at home your hair can look as good as leaving the salon. I have a big, beautiful, frizzy, naturally curly fro and I absolutely love it. But it was too long and detangling was taking forever. Ain't got time for that! I figured it was about time to shrink the fro down. By being a little flexible I was able to get an appointment pretty quickly on a Friday at lunch with Corey. Corey is super friendly. She has curly hair herself (although it was straightened that day) and is trained in the Devacurl method of natural and curly hair cutting. Before we started we talked a little bit about what I wanted and what kind of shape I was going for. She also asked me a lot of questions about my hair -- particularly about how different parts of my hair shrink up, etc. No two places are alike! Aaarrgghh! What I was most pleased with though was that Corey was open to me using my own products. Generally, Devacurl stylists use the Devacurl products. They are great and all, but I don't really like how they work in my hair. I prefer styling with the Kinky-Curly products and Corey agreed to use them and asked me how to apply them to my hair. She did a great job sculpting my fro into something with a bit of spunk and personality, but still corporate appropriate that is going to save me a ton of time getting ready in the morning (just washed, detangled and styled in 15 minutes woot!!) and I just love it. We had a bit of a snafu in the beginning because it wasn't clear where we were going, but we sorted it out and the end result was great. Highly recommend Corey for a kinky, curly, natural hair cut. Don't be afraid to ask her questions and tell her what you prefer. She will accommodate as much as possible. And she does a great job. LaBella's Devacut was the typical price. I've had the cut at three different locations in CT and it's always hovered around $70 (sigh) so the $68 I paid was just right. Honestly, for once in my life, I will say that it was worth it. About my hair: I have an insane mix of type 3b, 3c, 4a and 4b hair or a mix of corkscrew and fractal curls. My hair is coarse in some places and fine in others with a mix of low and high porosity in different sections. Basically, it's doing its own thing(s) and it can't be tamed. My hair is the boss. Corey is keeping the boss happy. Also: my partner loves the cut. This morning he said, "you should definitely go back to Corey." read more

I have been going to Labella Salon for quite some time now to get my nails and brows done. Aubrey does such a great job with both of these things. My brows used to be super thin, but with time and allowing them to grow out, she has made them beautiful. She also tints them, which I feel makes me look 10 years younger! When it comes to my nails, she is so artistic! This girl has some serious talent! Just tell her what you want, and she can do any design! Most importantly, she listens, and if you're not sure, she makes awesome decisions. I always feel good when I get my finger nails and feet done. The employees there are fantastic! I was hesitant to get my hair trimmed because of previous bad experience somewhere else. First time the lady listened to my concerns and gave me just a trim as I requested. Second time, the same lady didn't. I asked for only a trim and without asking gave my beautiful long hair an ugly awkward short layer. I went to Labella salon for my first haircut in nearly two years. I'd been living in Thailand for a while and didn't bother with my hair during that time. Also, I didn't believe that anyone over there would know what to do with my absurdly curly hair. This was my second visit to Labella, the first having been for my sister's pre-wedding hair and make-up appointment. She had been very impressed with the quality of work and attention that she received at Labella so I thought I'd give it a try. When I arrived I was greeted by an upbeat receptionist who offered me tea/coffee while I waited, but no sooner had I poured my coffee than Kelsey, my stylist, invited me to take a seat in her chair. Kelsey that my hair needed to be trimmed and re-shaped, but I also didn't want to lose too much of my length. She gave me a Deva Cut, keeping my hair dry initially so that she could see how my curls fell as she snipped and shaped. She cleaned up my layers and kept them as long as she could while getting rid of my very dead ends. Kelsey talked to me about my own haircare practices and gave me some curly-hair specific tips to better maintain my hair's style and heath and manage frizz, before washing it out with the Deva Curl products and a to-die-for scalp massage. She then styled and dried my hair, finally inspecting and touching up her work with the shears.
