She colored it back to a normal brown and added beautiful purple streaks that were subtle and the perfect placement! She spent hours on my hair and it came out so perfect! I've probably gone to 10 different hair salons in the Glastonbury/Manchester area and never found a place that is as attentive to customers and has such talented staff as Studio Central. I've had my hair done by a few of the different stylists, I usually get a bleach (I'm platinum blonde) and a cut. I often find that salons have a hard time cutting short hair on women because they assume you want a pixie cut or (for lack of a better term) the "mom cut" even if you are very specific about theta you'd like. Not so here! I'm a bit of a hipster and I like a very specific long on top, short on sides but with "sideburns" style and I leave happy every time I get a cut here no matter who cuts my hair. I tend to need to make appointments last minute so I have had a different stylist every time, but they always fit me in and I have never left anything but fully satisfied with my hair! They keep a record for each customer of hair type/products used/ etc so it's consistent visit to visit. The atmosphere inside is great, very inviting and cozy. They always greet me by name when I come in, even if it's been months between appointments. There are big comfy chairs to sit in while you wait for your hair to process and they always offer me coffee, water, or wine (bonus points for the wine). The owner of the salon is super friendly and always around to consult/ make little adjustments if necessary. He really knows his stuff and I appreciate the professionalism. I've lived in Boston and LA and I always try to wait until I'm home in CT for a break so I can get my hair done at Studio Central. They're better than any fancy/boutique salon I've been to in the cities. If you're looking for a terrific haircut in central CT, I can't recommend this place highly enough! read more

I am 18 freshly out of high school and I was looking for a nice long term job. I had brought my younger sibling to this salon before multiple times. They were looking for an assistant. I went in for an interview. With Dan (manager) and Bill (owner). Everything was going well until Dan had left. Bill proceeded to tell me that my hair looked like a "sad little girl who can't afford to get her hair done" because I have darker brown dyed hair and I am growing my dirty blonde hair back in so it can be healthy. Told me I "need an eyebrow wax" "need mascara, and bronzer so I can actually look good." Along with telling me I need to "take care of my nails better" because the paint was slightly chipped. I do understand that at a beauty salon the employees need to look presentable but you should NEVER make comments like this to someone your trying to employ, or anyone for that matter. It's messed up and so not right. My mother had to call because of how hurt I was and Dan did apologize (even tho he did not do anything) and I still have not gotten an apology from Bill who said all of this. read more

The atmosphere is very relaxed and there is usually something great playing on their radio. ;) When I first came in my hair was very long and totally fried from using store bought hair dye, but since I've been going to them on the regular, my hair is healthier and thicker than ever! I love this place! I love the atmosphere, very unassuming, down to earth and cozy! Most important the talent at Studio Central is amazing. From Bill the owner being masterful with his scissors to Caitlin a great colorist and Dan who always remembers my name and says hello when you walk in the door. I get the feeling its not about the money they charge its about your hair. They really want you to be happy with their services. They take there time, they listen and at the same time offer their advice which always seems right! From when you're first greeted in the door you can tell that they love their work and are full of positive energy, which makes for a very relaxing environment. Every detail matters to Studio Central, from how well they book you, to the interior design, to how your hair is going to look, and even the coffee available in the waiting room. I first went in for a consultation to explain what I was looking for, and Caitlin wouldn't let me leave the consultation without cleaning up the sides and mohawk length. The entire staff was super nice and welcoming. They were able to get an appointment scheduled for in a very reasonable time frame. The color appointment lived up to and exceeded my expectations. As before everyone was super nice and it was a fun experience. The color scheme I was looking for was definitely not the average color request, but Caitlin was extremely professional about it and did an amazing job. It looked like the hair style of a model! The salon was clean and the staff were also friendly. I was also greeted by Bill, the owner, and felt comfortable at the salon the whole time. I I think I will be coming back! I highly recommend this hair studio. Oh, I should add that another plus for Studio Central is how easy it is to communicate with them by phone to book an appointment. I had looked at other salons and they either had no staff to pick up the phone (even though I called various times) or the bookings had to be done through text messaging, but one has to first send a request via email or some contorted process like that. I never even knew this place existed until today when I searched up places to get my ears pierced in Glastonbury and this place popped up. I called for a last minute appointment and got one the same day! So I was happy about that. The costumer service is also EXCELLENT. It was my first time there and they treated me like a longtime costumer! I was also apprehensive to get my ears pierced at a salon, but they had their own area for ear piercing it was very clean and I made sure Bill (who did my piercing) washed his hands. The piercings used are also stainless steel and you get a wash for your ears. Bill did a great job, made sure the holes were exact and took his time. You can tell he professional! One of the other employees also chatted with me and calmed nerves. I had an appointment for 2:45, but they took me a little early when I got there and I was out within 15 minutes so they definitely care for their customers. I haven't had these piercings even for a day yet so I can't judge on if it may cause me an infection, but I was so happy with the final product and the awesome staff.
