TL;DR: If you ain't a privileged client of one of the "stylists", you will be waiting for a good minute. I went to this location twice. First time was fine. In and out easy peasy. Second time I went I signed in for Sandra and told the receptionist I was going to wait for Sandra who was with a customer at the time. About 15 or so minutes later she finishes. I get up ready to go to her station when she stops me and tells me that she is taking a client who walked in about 5 minutes after I did. Sandra says the customer called in. Oh, really?? Why did no one tell me that when I signed in and let me sit there the whole time!!! Wtf morons. I walked out, never to return again. Ba bye. The "stylists" prioritize their individual personal clients over regular customers. I can't believe the company condones this unethical behavior. They need to go get their own hairstyle business. If you enjoy being treated as a second class customer, this is the place for you. read more

Just went in for a wash, haircut and style. When I checked in after a gentleman's cut, I was the only customer. I was told that I could have a wash and cut but no style as she was the only staff there. I am down the street at another salon now with one staffer and two customers. I am so sad. Crystal accepted me right away for an emergency cut and color. She is the manager here and has brightened the place up immensely since a few years ago. She is awesome at color and cut and I know that I will be satisfied even though she is not finished yet. The other stylists here have years of experience and knowledge and I would not hesitate to come to them if Crystal was not there. read more

So last year my hair was hippie long lol. So I decided to cut it. Went to see Sandra whom I've known for years at another Cost Cutters location. Did a great job with the new cut. I went today to see Sandra, but she was booked all day long. I am always weary of new things like a new stylist. But I took the leap and asked Gracie to help me out. As much as I love Sandra, I have found a new stylist in Gracie! She's very knowledgeable and cut my wig exactly to my liking. She was wonderful and so so sweet as well! Next time I am calling ahead to request Gracie. Sandra is great too, but can be booked for a long period of time. Do yourself a favor and ask for Gracie. You will not regret it. read more

Generally being a guy I get the 5-10 minute haircut but Carolina spent at least 20 minutes on my hair trying to get it just right and not push me out the door with a rush job. Anyway she always did great and was super nice. They do have some strange employees though. My family and I will never come here again. I gave this place three chances but the last time was enough. The stylists in the store clearly didn't know what they were doing and lolly gagged and talked to people for too long. Or just disappeared for the longest time altogether. But worst of all, they RUSHED through my sons haircut in about 5 minutes and even though it was requested that they cut his bangs, the rushing hairstylist didn't do it. After my family waited an hour. Why in the world are people waiting an hour for a cut at Cost Cutters on a Tuesday? When we fixed my sons hair at home, he started to hold back tears because he hated his hair. Please do not go to this location. I've been here several times because it's convenient, but, after waiting well over 30 minutes, on a slow day, without being acknowledged further, I decided life is too short for a cheap haircut and walked out. Do not ever get your hair cut here! My son went in to get standard boys cut, a two on the sides and two finger cut on the top. Sylvia the stylist cut the back of his hair so short it stood straight up and the side of his head looked like a weed Wacker was used to cut his hair. The tapper was so lopsided one side was a little above his ear and the other side was almost at the top of his head. Instead of admitting she cut it incorrectly she put a ton of product on him said well its his head and it's gonna stand up. My son looked better before she cut his hair. She didn't attempt to fix it or even apologize. She just kept blaming it on his head. Do not let her cut your hair your better off not cutting your hair at all. Sylvia has no clue what she is going her skills are definitely out dated. read more

DO NOT get your haircut here if you have CURLY HAIR. Or straight hair, wavy hair, short hair, long hair. I called ahead and asked if anyone there was trained in cutting curly hair, I was told both of the ladies were. I took my 13 year old to JUST get a TRIM. Valentina-STAY CLEAR of this "stylist" didn't ask if her if the starting point looked good like all stylist do and started cutting about 6 inches off of one side. I went to her and questioned and she caught an attitude stating,"Ma'am her hair is cut in a V and I'm following it" My daughter takes great pride in her hair and her eyes starting to water. It was already too late to turn back. Sad thing is my daughter posted her cut on her social media accts and 100% of teens said get your money back WORST CUT ever. Sad thing is manager didn't say a word and knew I was unhappy. Nothing we can do but let it grow and get corrected by professionals. DO NOT try and save money or think what can go wrong with just a trim. Save yourself the trouble. This place is not the only option. HORRIBLE haircut, HORRIBLE service. read more

After visiting the Cost Cutters location on Slaughter Lane, I am the hat-wearing owner of the Worst Haircut Ever. To be fair, I've had decent haircuts here before, so I've given them 1 star. The day after my hair was chopped, I went back to have it fixed, and was worked on by the same stylist, who continued to not listen and not measure. I called the next day, and was told a manager would call me when they got in. No one ever called....surprised? Do yourself a favor and avoid this place, you'd be better off cutting your hair yourself. read more

I had my highlights done by Silvia this week and my hair looks amazing! She also did a new style (lots of layers), and used some products that made my old tired hair look shiny and full. I'm ever changing my color, so that's a huge accomplishment! I decided to add some lighter highlights and darker lowlights and it came out beautiful and natural looking. Usually we take my grandson to a barber shop but on Sundays most aren't open. We ended up going to Cost Cutters on Slaughter and Manchaca and I wouldn't recommend it to ANYONE. Having raised two boys myself, I know the difference between a barber/stylist taking their time to give someone a perfect haircut and someone who doesn't seem to have a clue as to what they're doing. This woman kept slowly shaving and shaving away at my grandson's hair and looking at her work in the mirror as if she herself was alarmed by what she saw. Then she would continue to shave away. This went on for what seemed to be an hour to an hour and a half. I finally went up and ask her if we were almost done as I was truly afraid that my grandson was going to end up completely shaven bald. If you ask for a fade... even a bald fade, there is supposed to be some visible fading. Not only was this not the case with my grandson's haircut, but it was just choppy and poorly done all together. I am usually not a complainer, I usually overtip, and I don't think I've EVER written a bad review for any place, but this Cost Cutters richly deserves a bad review. During the time we had been sitting there, a grown man came in, was also given a faded-type haircut, and was ready to check out while my grandson was STILL sitting there being slowly shaved upon by this woman. I was obviously not happy by the time she finally stopped shaving and had him step down from the stool, and this other snooty stylist (who had not been working with us) snapped "Ma'am, is there a problem?" I was really too angry to spend any more time there... I just wanted to pay and get out. I guess because he's a little boy, they just think that it doesn't matter. Granted, it's just a $13 haircut, but come on... and then to get an attitude with me because I'm not happy with the haircut? The snooty one who had asked me if there was a problem told me that we had asked for a bald fade and that we had gotten a bald fade. I don't know why she felt the need to interject herself into the situation unless she was the manager... and if that's the case, someone needs to school the woman in some customer service skills. Never ever again... I wouldn't go into another Cost Cutters if they were the only place open in the state of Texas. read more
