In the past I would have given this restaurant 3-4 stars. The food was decent and the cannolis were delicious. They have a counter that you can see your food and order from, then seat yourself on 2 floors inside or on their outdoor patio. They also have a pastry shop and a little shopping market attached, which are nice. Yesterday, however, I was greatly disappointed. I drove 60 mins round trip just to get a party sized Tiramisu dessert for my daughter's birthday, upon her request. I was able to easily order it online and reserve a pickup time. Unfortunately, there was construction to and around the restaurant. They do have a parking lot, free for customers; however, it was full of cars who paid because they could not park on 7th street due to construction. I finally arrived inside and went to the pickup counter. There were 8-10 employees working and standing behind the food counter and not one greeted me, offered to help, nor said anything to me. I was the only customer at the counter and waited 10 mins for anyone to acknowledge me. This was very poor customer service. Finally a server who had been helping a waiting a table came and helped. I told her I had a pickup order and gave her my name. She couldn't find it. She finally asked what it was and found it. I had ordered a Tiramisu to serve 8. It was much smaller than expected. I immediately stored it in the fridge. I cut it into 6 servings and served it. It was runny coming out of the container and then it collapsed and ran all over the plates like pudding. The consistency and presentation was awful and a huge disappointment for my daughter's birthday. They only ate a few bites and threw it away. I thought the flavor was OK, but not great. I have ordered this several places and made it myself with various recipes; it has never been like pudding when made properly. Even the one from Sam's Club was better, but they sell out quickly. I didn't realize how much I needed Cossettas in my life. I came here with a few girlfriends on a gorgeous September day. We sat upstairs on the patio and enjoyed fresh air while eating our sandwiches. I ordered the meatball sandwich and I wish it had more cheese on it but believe me when I say - you need to split the sandwich. They are absolutely massive but equally delicious just expect to eat half a loaf of bread. They also had pizzas, sides, etc. There is also a bar upstairs with a great selection of beverages The highlight of this trip was absolutely the cannoli. Best cannoli I've ever had in my life and likely going to be a staple on all future MSP trips for me. A landmark restaurant in Downtown St. Paul, and there's a reason it's been around for a century. Great food and service, consistently. The building itself is gorgeous, and worth your time to really tour and view the space. Great place for carryout- they know how to handle crowds, so unless a big convention is happening at the River Centre, you can get in and out quick. If you want to dine in, it's not terribly loud and the upstairs patio is delightful during the warmer months. Salads, pasta, pizza and sandwiches are all fresh and homemade, the quality is evident. When I'm not in a hurry, I love doing some quick shopping in the market for specialty items. It's so convenient and you'll find everything you need for your homemade Italian cooking. The staff is so knowledgeable and helpful, it's the anti-supermarket. I lust after the Italian pottery and imagine a day and reason I can splurge on such beautiful pieces. I dare you to resist the siren song of the Pasticceria. Gelato, pastries, cookies and cakes, oh my! Sip a freshly brewed cappuccino while you shop or sit and marvel at the lovely bakery with cases full of jewelry-quality pastries. Worst service ever. Last time I was here, we had really bad service after a Wild game. It's had been a few months now so I decide to give it another shot but holy cow. The customer service here is at the bottom of any bottom. I ask the cashier for an Orange Spellegrino, he proceed to give me a Yellow one. I asked him if he can change to the Orange one? He gave me the dirtiest stare and slammed the drink on the table and told me it's blood orange, not orange. The owner and the management team need to have an attitude check with the staff. This was my favorite place to go but after the two incident I had. I would never recommend to anyone. read more

My family has been dining and shopping here for decades and Cossetta Eventi catered my wedding. Mostaccioli and salad is always excellent, the market has a great selection of bread, Italian candies, relishes, etc. My family came from Calabria (same place in Italy as the Cossetta family) and when I asked why they stayed open on 1/23/26, (over 600 other small businesses closed in solidarity with the general strike to support immigrants), they blocked me on social media without providing a response. This business was built by immigrants and started as a grocery store on the east side of St Paul. It's unfortunate that the Cossetta family and management has chosen greed instead of standing with the immigrant community, especially when their business is built and sustained on this labor. I support their employees NOT the owners and management, they don't align with my values. I'll miss the cannolis, mostaccioli and fresh bread, but I'll shop elsewhere from now on. read more

What a neat place to visit! The food was quite tasty, I went in with lower expectations given the buffet style, yet very much enjoyed the Veal Parmesan and Gorgonzola Salad. Served with a side of mostaccioli con ricotta, there is far more food than needed. The sauce on the Parmesan was good, bright and light. The garlic bread is tasty and full of butter. We closed the meal with pastries including a Sfogliatella, mini key lime pie and mini chocolate mousse. All beautiful and delicious! The Sfogliatella took the prize! Ambience in this place is wonderful - Italian music, friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating, all of it gives an old world feel. Convenient and free parking just behind the restaurant. One of my favorite Italian places in MN! On my most recent visit, I ordered the mostaccioli and received a side of garlic bread. I also ordered the limonata san pellegrino. My partner was a sandwich with salami and a chocolate cake. The flavor of the food we ordered was FANTASTIC! The service here was phenomenal, and the staff were helpful. Come in, grab your tray (not near the entrance), enter from the left and get in line for the food that you want - but be careful someone getting a salad might also want pasta and abruptly cut you off. Want pizza? Oh no, that's a totally different line entering from the right. Beers? Sodas? We have lots of them, but our line forms right next to the food line, so we won't let you see your selection ahead of time. Come during a busy time? Chaos. Slow time? We don't staff enough people for all stations, so sometimes we have one cashier on one side and other times we have two cashiers --- unless someone needs a salad, then she leaves you to get in line on the other side to get a salad forcing you to the back of the line on the other side. Am I being a bit dramatic? Yes. Could this all be resolved with a few signs? Also yes. Please stop yelling at your guests for not knowing how to order and, idk, maybe spend $500 on signage? Seems like an investment that'd pay dividends for having such a congested ordering/payment flow. Still four stars because the food is good and I'll continue to come here. The owner started yelling at a couple outside the building, "I have millions of dollars into this business," and "look what they do, look at him." Cossetta's is so well known especially for those who live in st. paul. I have found myself here on a good handful of times with various friends and families when life has pulled me over to that area. They have a parking lot in the back that is free for diners or those picking up. The dine in section does get full and is a bit tight, but the parking lot is a nice feature. I have had their pizza several times and the slices are HUGE. They have a good amount of salads that are quite tasty. I know their mostaccioli is popular but I have not found the hype on it. There are a lot of options that can really please anyone. The line can get a little long sometimes but it does move pretty well. For mains, I usually go with the Cosetta salad or the tortellini with extra prosciutto. You HAVE to get a side of garlic bread. It's so greasy, garlicky, and good. They have a great selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non. The attached dessert area is also awesome. This time, I got the amerena gelato and a few macarons. My favorite macaron is the strawberry champagne one. The grocery store is the best place in the cities for Italian food. The prices and selection are amazing! This place has a grocery store, Deli and a desert place all under one roof... you can pick up some delicious food from the Deli or grocery and go upstairs and eat... they do have a bar upstairs.. and a patio too... we picked our drinks from the bar and food from the Deli... Their aranccini was the best... also the creamy red pepper ravioli... Finally we picked up Gelato from the bakery... it was absolutely delicious... they had great dessert options as well... I believe I've shared this on yelp before. A few years ago, you introduced pomodoro sauce to your chicken parm, which is a change for those that have been visiting your restaurant for many years, such as myself (since 1996). I'm personally not a fan of pomodoro sauce, it's way too runny and ends up making the breading on the chicken parm soggy. That combo is fairly unappetizing to say the least. I've spoken to managers about this a few times in person, asking to at least have an option to choose between the pomodoro sauce and the original sauce. I was told that sure, we can do that, but each time, you need to get a manager to approve it and tell a team member that it's ok to change. Otherwise the request is refused. We've not gotten to the point where my request is just ignored and we get soggy chicken parm. Can you please, for all that is good in the world, please at least allow someone to choose which sauce to use? I know, nothing will probably change and my next comment won't really matter, but I'll say it anyways. We will still visit your business, but we will never order chicken parm again until a sauce selection can be made. For reference, we would usually visit your place twice a month and with each visit, order two chicken parm's. At $20 each, that's $40 per visit, $80 per month, and $960 a year, $9,600 over ten years. read more

I love sitting out on the rooftop on a beautiful sunny day. I've been coming and going to cossettas for food, beverages and sweets alike. My favorite go to is the lasagna. I get pretty much every single time I go (with a breadstick or two of course) as well as a beer or soda with wash it down with. Afterwards I've been tending to grab some sweets on my way out which usually include either gelato or chocolate cheese cake.
