Arugula Salad......don't forget the meatballs on the side. Do it!

We love this place!!! A must visit if you are craving cozy ambiance. Sit at the bar and enjoy the bartender choices and food. Or! Bring a group for the best pasta. Our food came out quickly and was fabulous. Not super hungry?? Get Arugula salad and a side of meatballs. You'll thank me.

We went here with some friends and had never been before. Quickly we realized we would be back! We really liked the lighting and the decor. Lots of TV's for the guys to watch March madness and awesome desserts. Our server was nice but mixed up our order and receipt. Other staff was very friendly as well! We recommend the Cannoli's for dessert.

We visited DeGidio's this last week for the first time in a long time and what a fun night. We sat in the bar to catch up on MN sports as the Wild, Vikings and TWolves were all playing!! The bartender was fantastic and it was as fun to learn some of the history as this place has been a St Paul staple since 1933. Both the bar and dining room are cozy and the entire restaurant is full of regulars. Our dinners were yummy. Nothing over the top unique but solid pasta dishes and the tiramisu was delish. Great parking lot too. We'll be back.

Went to DeGidios for my birthday and had a nice time. The restaurant has been around for close to 100 years so I was excited to go back as I've been here before and had enjoyable experiences. They have a cozy lounge dining room that provides an intimate setting for dinner. The food we tried was very good. Their basic marinara sauce is very robust and is a great compliment to their meatballs. The bolognese sauce is fairly acidic and has a slight spice to it. We also liked the heirloom tomato bruschetta as a starter. There were some hiccups with the service tonight. It was slow to place an order, some of our food was forgotten and took a long time to pay for our meal. During the dinner we had to find someone to track down our server who was absent. Later in the dinner they were hanging out with a co worker in another booth and took their time to come back to collect our tab. Maybe if I wasn't visiting for a special occasion I wouldn't be so sensitive to this but it was a letdown. Luckily the food is good so I'll go again!

The wood tones and lighting here make for a beautiful backdrop to an old school Italian meal. Our waiter was pleasant and did a good job of highlighting the menu when I asked what was popular. Cocktails: prosecco and a beer (3/5) Appetizer: Italian Chopped Salad (4/5) Entrees: Pesto with Chicken (4/5) / Spaghetti and meatballs (5/5)

Went to celebrate a friend who was in town and this was very good pasta! I felt like it wasn't anything crazy but just well done dishes and great atmosphere. The staff were very kind and helpful when trying to decide a dish. Another plus is they have a large parking lot so you don't have to worry about finding parking.

Finally made it to DeGidio's for a long-overdue yap sesh with a friend, and it definitely lived up to the hype. It was packed (yes, worth the wait), but once seated everything was great. For starters, I enjoyed an N/A beer and my friend had the old fashioned sampler. We shared the garlic cheese bread as an appetizer. I enjoyed the lasagna and my friend had the blackened shrimp Alfredo (I snagged a bite) and yummy everything was delicious. Dessert is typically a non-negotiable for me, so I tried the tiramisu which was good, but my friend's chocolate lava cake was the standout. Friendly service, Yummo eats, cozy atmosphere, and we stayed until closing just chatting it up. Can't wait to come back to try the DeGidio's burger.

An Italian staple since 1933 in downtown St Paul. I finally tried it after my in-laws were raving about it. Definitely high expectations going in from an Italian girl who grew up in NY and ancestors to immigrants from Italy. We went in through the side door (bar area) - not the main entrance and were immediately greeted and brought to a lovely booth. The ambience is great and old school world. Like you're hanging out with some gangsters in Brooklyn. The service was top notch. Food: I ordered the gluten free pasta arrabiata with shrimp. It's a spicy red sauce with gfree fusilli pasta. It was very good but for the cost of pasta and red sauce and shrimp...unfortunately not worth the cost for this Italian gal. I have to mention that our food came out extremely quickly! It was like under 5 mins. Crazy! I also ordered a glass of rose which was great too. Dessert - I ordered the spumoni which did not disappoint. Cherry, chocolate and pistachio ice cream. An Italian staple. And no I didn't share with my hubby. lol. With that being said...the ambience was great. Server was attentive. Sauce was delish but in my mind, it's just not worth the cost. If you're going it's for the experience and atmosphere. I also overheard as I was walking to the restroom that people who didn't make a reservation would have to wait up to 2 hours for a table...it's popular so book if you want to go or go to the bar area.

Serving old recipes from years ago and still tastes like gold! Every single dish we had all natural ingredients that were different from each other. The appetizers were crisp and served fresh w/ lovely paring sauces This is a beautiful location with an amazing dark atmosphere. Great for dates, girls night out, or even solo dining.

We went here for my birthday dinner for the first time. We both love Italian and wanted something a little fancy! This was the perfect spot! The music wasn't too loud, the lights were dim, we felt cozy. We started with some cocktails. I had the mule and my fiance had an amaretto sour. The mule was good but a bit strong. The garlic cheese bread was very good and the marinara sauce with it was to die for! I had the pesto pasta with chicken and the chicken was perfectly done! The pesto sauce was nice and creamy! We ended with tiramisu and a scoop of gelato and it was so yummy!

This place was super nice! The lighting and everything gave a very fancy vibe. I felt like I should have dressed better. Service was great too. I told the waitress that I drink a lot, so she brought me 2 diet Cokes every time she came by. It was the best drink service I've had in a while. Also having water on the table is always a plus. The food was pretty decent too. All the portions are split there, as I shared with a friend. I enjoyed the salad, it had a good amount of dressing without over saturation. The chicken Parm was decent enough, not my favorite, but I think that might be me not being super into chicken Parm. I absolutely loved the olives, I ate that plate clean.

We have been to DeGidios many times in the past years, and I remembered liking it before. I'm sad that it's no longer as good now. Food: we were surprised that the portions were way smaller than before. Our salads cost what I would pay for a regular dinner salad, but it was more like a very small side salad. Our pastas were super small and pricey. For what you pay, it's no longer the same. Service: our server didn't come to take drink orders until everyone at the table arrived. We felt very rushed throughout dinner. Ambience: still a cozy warm interior as it always has been. Comfy booths.

Recently ate at DeGidio's for a midweek dinner with the girls! I loved the dark yet warmly lite atmosphere. Our waitress was very nice and gave us amble time to chat and make decisions. I was a little disappointed they didn't have any happy hour but I do get myself a mocktail that was flavorful and sweet! I ended up ordering the blackened shrimp alfredo! It was full of flavor and the noodles were perfect for holding the creamy sauce! Definitely will be back to try some more pastas. To make things easier, the restaurant does have a parking lot.

Is manicotti ever an option on the menu? We've been on the hunt for some great manicotti in St. Paul. LOTS of us are craving it!

I don't believe DeGideo's serves manicotti but you will find it on the menu at Yarusso Brother's on Payne Ave.

Do you have off street parking?

Yes and a small lot.

The whole agency was raving and asking where it was from - we even had a couple of people want to use them for their upcoming celebrations! Some highlights for me included: * The hot chocolate tarte was rich and delicious - and it truly was a hot chocolate flavor! * The apple manchego sandwiches were the perfect blend of fall flavors, and everyone was shocked it wasn't a dry sandwich with all the toppings! It was a crowd favorite. * the steak skewers were perfectly cooked and tender, even served cold! * The mezze platter was delicious and filling, with some unique flavors Overall, I would recommend Chowgirls to anyone and would definitely use them again!

I ended up getting some tortellini and a pepperoni pizza while trying to save room for some dessert because the separate dessert cafe looked absolutely amazing! The line for food went really fast from grabbing a tray to getting food, paying, and sitting down - whole thing probably took about ten minutes? There isn't much seating on the ground floor but loads on the second level which is also where you get water. It can get pretty hot up there with all of the open windows so try to sit on the shadier side if you can so you aren't roasting!
