Wedding food has a bad reputation of being smothered in some kind of cream sauce and sprinkled with capers. Am I right? Why, yes, I am. But gladly Deco does not live up to this reputation. I knew I could expect really, really good food (and good everything) when my friend Debbie told me she was getting married. I knew it was going to be an epic party and that the food would be center stage (after the whole solemn vow thing, you know). The food was served buffet-style and the whole table fit into their fall-themed wedding perfectly. Even the styling was gorgeous. Most of the sides, salads and spreads featured seasonal foods and the mains were more distinct but VERY good! At the start of the line, they had delicious, garlicky baba ganouj (I think), red pepper hummus (again, I think) and an herb cream cheese spread. Then they had a spinach salad with strawberries and vinaigrette, some roasted autumn veggies, wheat berry salad, wild rice salad and new potatoes smothered in butter and herbs. My plate was full by the time I got to the entrees, so they had to just sit on top of everything. The main entrees were totally unexpected and equally delish. First, Swedish meatballs. Not necessarily my fave, but yum. Second, some sort of Caribbean-inspired stuffed chicken breast with a pineapple salsa. This was ah-mazing. Then, a roasted veggie torte with artichokes, red peppers and cheese (like a sandwich but with puff pastry instead of bread). Also amazing. Needless to say, I could barely move my fat ass onto the dance floor after such an awesome dinner. And it wasn't until after dinner that I found out who was responsible for this feastival. We used Deco Catering for our daughter's wedding this past Saturday. We could not have been happier! I was considering using a well known and much pricier caterer in town since I was very nervous to use a vendor unknown to me, but my daughter did her research and received recommendations from our venue so we settled on Deco. The planning process can be very nerve-racking for the mother of the bride, but Deco made it easy. They were so responsive even though I can imagine they are extremely busy. Heikki was remarkable to work with! The food was remarkable. The presentation was beautiful. They were so flexible that they even consented to prepare an old family recipe for our Vegetarian Entree Choice. Our nieces are of the age that they go to weddings all of the time, and they were blown away by the quality of the food. The variety of appetizers and entree selections made it very easy to do the menu planning. The serving staff was very polite and respectful. I would really recommend Deco for your special event. Deco is AMAZING, they have 5 stars for a reason! We used them for our wedding this September at the James J. Hill Library in St. Paul (after having went to multiple different tastings with catering companies, someone else that had used Deco recommended them to us... and we are SO GLAD they did). From our initial tasting we could tell their food and the quality of it was above and beyond all of the others we had tasted for an extremely reasonable price. From the first time we met them, everything was so smooth and easy. Heikki was very easy to work with, always so friendly, and extremely flexible with whatever we wanted to do! He made accommodations for us to pick up different foods to taste/try before finalizing our wedding menu, and was so prompt in answering questions and flexible when I was still adding or changing things right up until the week of the event! 5+ stars for customer service! I was hoping everything would continue to go smoothly for the actual day of the wedding... and I couldn't have been happier! Everything was perfect and our tables looked gorgeous. Everything I had asked for, they delivered on better than I could have imagined. They put out multiple different dips for breads at the tables (instead of the standard one) for us and prepared platters of appetizers for the head table to enjoy once we arrived at the reception (since we missed the cocktail hour where the appetizers were served) - some of these small details really showed their dedication and made the entire experience so enjoyable! I have attended a few weddings that have served the food from The Deco over the years. The quality this year has sunk to an all time low. Dried up chicken, tasteless salads, mashed potatoes that are clumpy and horrible. Who has ever heard of terrible mashed potatoes? The servers are not friendly and are of no help when something is needed or requested. Would never recommend and I consistently recommended a few years back. read more

Deco is the best!!! We had them cater our wedding at Aria last weekend, and it was one of the best decisions we made while wedding planning. Deco did our wedding reception this summer. My wife and her friends all work in the service industry so the bar was high, and I have to say they surpassed it with leaps and bounds. Planning a wedding is stressful, and their staff completely took the stress and work out of planning. We had an absolutely phenomenal experience with Deco Catering. The owners were friendly, professional, and responsive. They provided a free tasting and wide variety of menu options. The food itself was *amazing* - we received many compliments that it was the best wedding food our guests had ever tasted, and we agree. The presentation was beautiful, and the staff were excellent. One suggestion - bring large food containers to the venue, as they will pack up delicious leftovers for you, but you need to have your own containers.
