Super fun restaurant with a cafeteria-like setup that I had never seen before and it was really neat to checkout! When in doubt, follow the crowd! I ended up getting some tortellini and a pepperoni pizza while trying to save room for some dessert because the separate dessert cafe looked absolutely amazing! The line for food went really fast from grabbing a tray to getting food, paying, and sitting down - whole thing probably took about ten minutes? There isn't much seating on the ground floor but loads on the second level which is also where you get water. It can get pretty hot up there with all of the open windows so try to sit on the shadier side if you can so you aren't roasting! My tortellini with Alfredo sauce was actually super salty and I only ended up eating about half but my pizza was pretty good! The water cups are tiny so I felt like I had to ration out my sips and it didn't help it was a super hot weekend so I already felt pretty thirsty. We went down to the market area walked around the grocery store before peaking into the desserts. So bummed I was super full but just means we will have to come back another time! Finally tried this place! As soon as I walked in a woman who was also a customer noticed I looked a little confused, and she excitedly showed me around because she loves the place so much. She said she recommends everything. She was right!! I ended up ordering way too much food but have plenty of leftovers and I got some cannolis and tiramisu for sharing at a gathering later. The food was excellent. I haven't eaten this well in a long time. It was heavenly, and quality, with lots of flavor. It was cafeteria style which was fun and I'm glad I went on an off day/off time because apparently it gets very busy. I went around 2:30 on a Friday afternoon, and I'm glad I did because I could take my time instead of being stressed out by lines or lots of people (I hear it gets pretty busy normally). I loved the Italian grocery as well and got a couple of items there. I can't wait to come back. I think the cafeteria is nice and chill (but not sure I would like it when it's packed). Been going to Cosetta's for 25 years and they never disappoint. For a first timer, it can be a bit daunting, but hang in there as it's worth it. I've been to New York's Little Italy many times in my life and Cosetta's takes me there. Let's start with the Italian Hero: the meats and Italian dressing are so, so good. Not to mention it's huge! Easily a 2 person sandwich, or come hungry and polish it off yourself. Next up, the Pepper Calabrese: the sauce the sausage, peppers, onions and mushrooms are in is awesome. The cutest little Italian spot with a cafeteria set up, market and patisserie! There is a free parking lot right on Smith avenue for Cosetta. Inside there is a great variety of Italian food with subs, salads, pasta and pizza. Grab a tray and move along the line. Upstairs is plenty of seating to eat as well as a bar. The market has a bakery with fresh breads and market finds. Also saw the largest block of cheese ever! My favorite is the patisserie. There are great selection of cakes, chocolates, sweets and gelato! The gelato was so good, I had the Amaretto and Caffe. The pistachio and blood orange was also delicious. If you haven't been, you grab a tray and walk cafeteria style ordering food and then paying at the end. Any of the salads are great, the mostaccioli is so gd good, the pizza is also yum. Once you pay, you're going to think 'now how the heck will we even find a seat' (bc there will be so many people there). We went on a weekday so we were the only customers in line (normally the line is all around the buffet and check out area) everything was clean, staff were masked and friendly as usually and check out was fast. Cosetta's is crave worthy and a St Paul must stop. It's typically always busy if anything is going on in St Paul. Be prepared to wait 20 minutes in line for their cafeteria style food lines... grab a tray and silverware and start! While approaching the food ordering area, you will see all the desserts in their bakery area or you can grab a few of them with your food first. The tiramisu is yums! The first section is for cold salads/pastas (you can skip and move to next section if not ordering). I love the Caesar salad. 2nd Hoagies: They have some tasting looking sandwiches, but I typically stick with the same thing each time. 3rd Hot Pasta: the mostaccioli (tube like ziti noodles with ricotta and red sauce) is my favorite and I ask for extra sauce. It comes with a piece of garlic bread and it sometimes has a little chili fleck spice. Yumm! Some order a meatball or sausage on the side. Their meatballs are flavorful and dense. 4th pizza: their pizza is tasty to share but the pasta is my fav! Be prepared if you venture into the bakery or grocery side to spend some money! After many years of being a patron, I will sadly no longer be coming here. Per usual, the place was packed before a game. As we checked out at a register, my girlfriend went hunting for a table. Within 2mins I found her crying at a two person table. Apparently she had found an empty table, but was then scolded by a staff member for sitting down without a tray or food. She explained to the staff member that I was checking out at the register, but was interrupted by him and said "he has 2mins to be here before I kick you out." Stunned, she began crying to the point where other customers volunteered to sit with her to ensure she would not get kicked out ... Shocking right?! What an absolutely fun place to go and look around and more importantly - eat! If you want any kind of pasta or olive oil or vinegar or cheese you can probably find it here! And don't get me started on the pastries. Oh my word. The selection is to die for. You can't go wrong with anything at all. I got a mini key lime pie (amazing), a piece of Italian rainbow cookie (amazing), and this danish with an apricot in the middle that was the best thing I've ever had. I've long been a Cosetta's fangirl. What's not to love? Fresh salads, tasty traditional pastas, and an old school St. Paul location. Recently, I needed to cater in for a VIP meeting, so I went with Cosetta Eventi. Cosetta knows what they're doing when it comes to catering. They dummy-proof the process, their invoicing is super helpful for record-keeping, and the food is packaged and prepped to make it easy for serving once it's arrived at the destination. When you order, you'll be prompted to go to a different site for pickup. It's a little confusing, but a helpful tip is to go around the corner from the signage on the building and enter into the fenced area that looks restricted. Don't worry, there are parking places up front near the entrance. Your piping hot food will be packed in boxes to prevent spills and leaks and will have serving ware included. They'll carry everything out to your car. Your employees will drool as soon as you enter the building carrying boxes of the best Caesar salad in the Cities and mostaccioli with fresh marinara and ricotta cheese. Everyone will be happy and satisfied. You will be the hero of lunchtime. Portion estimates on the site are generous, but I promise you, people will come back for seconds and thirds. read more

Cossetta's is my go to place for parties. I love their food as did my guests. I ordered the Eventi Arrosto platter which consisted of : Turkey, roast beef and ham. Garlic, pineapple, cranberry garnishes and a basket of bread. It was all wonderful. The roast beef was my favorite. The bread was so fresh and chewy. It came with utensils, a basket, nice platter and some wonderful sauces. Whatever is in the spread was amazing. Horseradish, chives? They called to confirm my order twice. Online ordering with ease, payment and pick up time. Will definitely use them again for parties. My sister in law ordered pasta for a graduation and was equally impressed and it was great! read more

This place is a treat. I came in for the first time with my boyfriend about a month ago . I actually felt like I was back in NYC. The atmosphere was perfect. Every time I went to turn a corner, there was a new room full of goodies waiting for me. So we originally had time to kill before adult science museum night. We had decided that it was time for food. I didn't expect this place to be very good when I saw a line with pre made food options. When we got through the line and went to the dining room, I took one bite and was proven wrong. I ordered the five cheese lasagna and the flavor was the best I had tasted in along time. It came with bread and the bread was so fresh and chewy. After we finished eating, we returned to the store to explore more and find some dessert. We were overwhelmed with options as we carefully wondered around exploring. We ended up choosing pistachio flavored gelato and chocolate dipped crumberle. The pistachio gelato was delicious, The crumberle was a little over the top for sweetness. It still had amazing flavor to it though. Next, we walked around their supermarket to check out a wonderfull assortment of chocolates, cheeses, noodles and meats. Everything looked so yummy and I will be back the next time I decide to stay in and make fondu. The staff was also amazing. Everyone from the guy who took our order for lasagna, to the guy who bussed our table after we were done were extremely polite. This used to be one of my favorite places on earth. I ordered a pizza, a Cosetta salad with the dressing and croutons on the side, and 4 garlic bread. I got there, stood at the register that had "Take out" above it for 5 minutes with 7 people staring at me. Finally I asked one of them if I was in the right spot to pick up take out. Got a bunch of attitude, threw my pizza on top of the ice cream case, and started to walk away. I asked him "where do I get my other stuff?" He told me "it's in the cooler and he couldn't get it because he can't ring me up". Finally some guy that can ring me up comes. I make the 40 minute drive home , the cheese on the pizza isn't even melted all the way, the salad container is half full, no salad dressing or garlic bread. $40 down the drain. Every place has bad days, but poor at every area of your restaurant? It's really sad to see the best of the best performing as the worst of the worst. read more

We were in the area for an event at Xcel. We parked at the RiverCenter parking garage and walked a block or two to eat dinner. When we walked in, the line was huge, but don't let it deter you, as it moved quickly. It's cafeteria style. You grab a tray, plastic silverware and head to the first station. They had soup, salad, heroes, pasta and pizza. I got the small mostaccioli. It was a great size for me: I was pretty full but not stuffed to discomfort. The pasta was cooked just right. The ricotta was creamy and tasty. The sauce was pretty good, although I could've used a lot more of it. The dish was a tad dry, but more sauce would've fixed that. My son got buttered noodles, even though it wasn't on the menu. My husband got pizza by the slice: pepperoni and then a sausage. They were both very good. The crust is on the thinner side, but we liked it. It had a good amount of cheese, but again, I thought it could use more sauce. The meals came with garlic bread sticks. These were the stars! Oh, they were awesome. A slight crispness, no sogginess. Plenty of buttery garlic goodness. Yum. Staff were pretty friendly. Your first time here, it seems a bit chaotic. I felt rushed by the family behind me to move quickly, but that may be my own issue. You ha e to go upstairs to eat. I'm pretty sure I saw an elevator. It was very clean with plenty of staff bussing tables. There is also a patisserie and an Italian market. We got a key lime tart and it was delicious. Overall it was a great experience. I'm giving this one three stars because I believe maybe when I went they just had an off day. I have heard so many good things about this place but my experience wasn't all that great. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and the pasta part of it was decent, nothing too special, but the chicken was really dried out and kind of burnt. I couldn't cut it with a fork and knife, instead I had to just stab it with a fork and take a bite out of the whole thing. My daughter had trouble even biting a piece off so I had to rip it for her. I finished my pasta but threw away the chicken, which sucks because that's supposed to be the star of the plate. Also my bread stick was hard, so when my boyfriend went back to exchange it for a fresh one, the lady at the counter seemed to have an attitude about it, and the new one was still hard. My friend had to do the same thing, his bread stick was hard as well. The lasagna was actually good that my boyfriend ordered very cheesy though so if you don't like a lot of cheese, it will not be for you. My favorite part of the whole meal was dessert, that was very good and rich. I recommend the bakery. Very cool looking place though, and if the food wasn't so dried out and hard it would have been a great experience. I think I'll try it one more time some day, see how it goes. read more

This was the worst experience at a restaurant that I've had. Do not go here with kids! The Line was really long, the servers didn't see the kids below the counter and so they would get mad at us that we weren't keeping the line "tight". Then, just because we didn't want salad they tried to push us along to the hot section and budge in front of other people. Well, I wanted soup and the pasta people told me I had to go back to get soup. Couldn't do that because the people behind us kept pushing us along. My kids all wanted pizza and of course that's at the end of the line. So we got pizza for the kids and I went back to get my soup. I got yelled at for going backward. My husband then tried to get soup for me cause I had 2 trays of pizza in my hands. He was then yelled at by another staff for going backward. So we can budge in front of people, but you can't go backward! How does that make sense? Suffice to say I didn't get lunch today! No thanks, not going to stand in line for another 15 mins to get yelled at! This place has awful customer service, will not be coming back here EVER! I'll cut straight to the chase - Cosetta is one of those places that you go when you want to impress friends or family enough to say "See? St. Paul is where it's at." It's also a place you should NOT go if you're too hungry, because every single thing will look amazing. The staff is friendly enough, and management seems adept at all the little things: the fine art of attractive display, products for every experience level of Italian food appreciation, and the warm unwaveringly pleasant smell of fine pastry. The building itself is a maze of rooms and stairs, all populated with nooks filled with pastry, pasta, desserts, and meat sauces you can take to go, and pretend you made yourself. The deli hearkens to New York's bustling meat markets, and seems to be the place to go if you're entertaining. For the cafeteria, I highly suggest anything with the crispy prosciutto - it was smoky, crunchy, and better still, available to buy and take home with you. The only nitpick I had was a startling lack of coffee and espresso. I went with my husband and sister-in-law, and we specifically went in expecting to find a mid-afternoon latte pick-me-up. Unfortunately, there was none to be found in all the bustle. What an oversight in an Italian market! They could also definitely benefit from some sort of signage system to identify what is where, get people acquainted to the odd layout quickly, and keep the flow of the cafeteria. I will absolutely be back though, especially because we wanted to try Louis Ristorante upstairs, but I highly recommend going and just aimlessly exploring this little downtown gem. read more

I have used Eventi twice for events at my home and both times have been entirely delighted with both the food and service. The quality is excellent, home-made level, across their whole selection. And the service is just outstanding. They went out of their way to prepare my order on relatively short notice, no extra charge, and were very accommodating about pick up late on a Friday afternoon as well. This used to be my favorite place for pizza. Cosetta's was miles ahead of other pizza places, and that includes great pizza places. But something bad has been happening there over the last couple of years. I used to look forward to going there, but I've had a number of problems and have given up since my last visit. One time I ended up with food poisoning from pizza I got from the line. That was a lot of fun! But the overall problem is the quality of the pizza has severely dropped. Before, they were the best. Now, the pizza is so bland that even frozen pizzas from the store taste better. I don't know if they got bought out, or just turned into another place that thinks they can lower their quality and charge more money, or exactly what is happening. But it's really disappointing to see a place I used to love so much sink so far. read more

Yummy food. Super cute decor. My friend Sara loves the mostaccioli. They have these plastic lunch trays that you put your food on. Then you pay for your food at the cashier. It brings me back to my middle school days of plastic trays! The cashier lady we had was very rude however. She yelled at the people in then four times. On the fourth time she was very very loud. We all then understood that she wanted us to split into two lines and go to separate cashiers. She made a comment about us being "deaf" under her breath. Interestingly enough, she had very poor English and it wasn't that we couldn't hear her it was that we couldn't understand her. Silliness!! Anyhow, the foods good and the revenue is super cute. Food was OK at best. Rude staff!! A lady at the salad counter was yelling at everyone to move forward. She was quite rude in her tone but I complied. Then I got skipped and people behind me got their orders taken first. When I finally got my order taken, I asked for a cheese substitution on my child's salad and she just looked at me with a straight face and said "No!" Not "no, I'm sorry but we can't do it" or "no, but we can take it off". Just "no!" No reason to be b* about it. Then the cashier wasn't that much more friendly.
