Cortina's is a really good Italian deli in the city of Orange. It is located in a industrial part of town where you would not expect a restaurant. But, you know you have arrived when you see a bunch of people sitting outside eating their lunch. I've been here twice. Both times, the line of people waiting to order was at the front door. They have both sandwiches and pasta here. My first time there, I ordered their famous Fireball sandwich. The Fireball comes with spicy capicolla, spicy calabrese salami, vegetables, their hot mix of green and red peppers, garlic and onions, and Italian dressing. It comes on a nice roll. After assembling the sandwich, they put in the "toaster" to warm up the sandwich and to get the bread nice and toasty. The Fireball sandwich is really good. It has a nice spicy taste to it. The second time there, I ordered the Cortina's Special. The Cortina's Special consists of Capicolla, Mortadella, Cotto Salami, Dry Salami, Provolone Cheese, Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pepperoncinis and Italian dressing on a 6 inch roll. Unlike the Fireball, the Cortina's Special is a cold sandwich, not toasted. The Cortina's Special is as delicious as the Fireball. Both times I was there, I ordered the 6 inch sub. The sandwich is piled high with meats and vegetables. I measured the girth of the sandwich at a little bit over 3 inches in height. It was physically impossible for me to get my TMJ dysfunctioned jaw to open that wide. The 6 inch sandwich is enough for most people. You would really have to be hungry to finish the 10 incher. The employees are nice and friendly. I have no complaints about this place. I plan on coming back here when I want a sandwich. read more

The hours on Yelp are wrong. This place is only open till 3:00 pm on weekdays and they are not opened on the weekends. I learned this the hard way when I wanted to bring my boyfriend on a Saturday for lunch and discovered it was closed. When I came here the first time I ordered the Rocky Balboa and it was pretty delicious, the sandwich was very filling and I was quite satisfied. I especially liked the warm sauce that you pour or dip onto your sandwich that took the sandwich to a whole new level. I think the 6 inch option is more than enough sandwich but if you are a hardcore eater then the 10 inch should be more than enough. The second time I came I ordered the fireball, I wasn't really impressed it was a little spicy but not what I expected. The sandwich had iceberg lettuce which was bland and the tomatoes didn't really taste like anything. My boyfriend ordered the Cortina's special sandwich and again the taste was bland. Maybe the warm sandwiches are better than the cold ones. The subs are kind off pricey but you do get a lot of sandwich. They also have pastas and salads and they have the option of gluten free bread for an extra $2. read more

SOLID place to get a sandwich! Came here and we got a turkey avocado and a pastrami sandwich------ TIP TIP TIP get the 6 inch sandwich, they fill you up! They have good pastrami, legit deli pastrami, not that greasy/fatty meat you get at a lot of places. The bread is fresh, and they provide yummy pickles. I would put Cortina's on the level of Hollingshead's in Orange or Claro's in Tustin. Great Itailan sandwiches. read more

Normally I shy away from Italian food on my lunch break because I'm useless afterwards and just want to nap. But when I can't help the craving, this place has some of the best Italian food. Plus it's fast casual, so it's perfect for a quick meal. You may be thinking pasta because this is an Italian place, but they actually have a wider selection of sandwiches. Their bread is very fresh and soft with the right amount of chewiness. They also use good quality meats and they don't skimp! I've had their Meatballs with Cheese ($6.20/ 6") and it's one of the best. The meatballs are delicious and have that homemade taste. Most recently I tried the Russo Special ($6.90/ 6") which is a hot sammie with 4 different Italian cold cuts, provolone, fried peppers, pepperoncinis, lettuce, tomatoes and their own Italian dressing. It's a fancier version of the Cortina's Special and a good option if you like your sandwiches hot. The pastas are pretty good too. I've had the Ravioli w/ Meatballs ($9.10) and it was a hearty portion. I haven't had anything here that I didn't like, but they really shine when it comes to the sandwiches. I've yet to come across another Italian place that specializes in sammies. This location is only open on the weekdays until 3pm, but their Anaheim location is open later and serves pizza! read more

I love Cortina's... in Anaheim. I used to live over there. My old work was nearby and we would love getting the food catered too. I was so excited to see another location when I moved to Orange. I tried multiple times to grab something here just to find out about their limited hours. I was never able to catch them before they closed on a weekday. When I finally did, I drove right passed it. When I came in, I thought to myself, what a cute location. I got the Cortina special to go. The bread was harder than usual. It didn't taste fresh. They didn't skimp on the meats or stuffing the sandwich but it just didn't taste the same. I couldn't even finish the sandwich. I was very disappointed. Sandwiches here are delicious, but unfortunately this business does not seem to care what they put or don't put on the sandwiches. This is a classic case of 1, 2, 3 strikes your out. We are business owners who like to treat our staff to lunch. This is the third time in two months we've ordered a sandwich with NO ONIONS (maybe they can read no onions if it's in caps) and we drive all the way there to pick up the order and when we get it back to our business we open it up to find a ton of onions. Just got off the phone with them again and I get the "oh, sorry just bring it back and we'll make you another one" Get it right the first time. Attention to detail, a simple small request, customer care and satisfaction. You won't get that here. It's all about the mighty dollar for Cortinas, take your money and F*** the customer Their solution, bring it back and we'll make another one. We already spent a half hour getting there and back. You want to waste even more of our business day saying to come back. Your sandwich just got thrown away for a 3rd time. Your company owes me 30 dollars now, as well as 1.5 hours of wasted time. They have a gluten free flat type bread that is really good and heated. I know for sure the provolone is gluten free and their turkey. I recommend their hot sandies. The quality of the sandwiches is okay. However, we ordered two sandwiches for pick up, and once we got home found out one of the sandwiches was wrong. We only ordered two sandwiches. They only got one of the two right. I called to ask about it and the cashier told me to bring the wrong sandwich back if we wanted a replacement. Drove 15+ minutes back to get our correct order. The correct sandwich they gave us was really wet and chewy, like it was on stale bread and had been sitting for awhile. Overall, pretty lousy customer service. Money is tight for us too but we wanted to support a local business - all we got was a wrong order, mediocre sandwich and a snotty attitude. I'll stick to making my own food at home. read more

I called ahead for pick-up because my friend said they're swamped at lunchtime. The man who answered was friendly, professional & patient as he answered a few questions for me. He said it would be ready in 20 mins, but when I got there within 5-10 mins, I waited in line to pay and, to my surprise, the food was ready! When paying, I asked for a catering menu; the lady at the register obliged and even shared some tips for ordering. The Cortina's Special was everything I imagined! The Italian meats and cheese blended perfectly with the peppers and dressing! To my surprise, the 6" was more than enough. I even like their fancy specialty root beer and cream soda! OMG I'm obsessed with the Prosciutto di Parma sandwich (imported prosciutto from Parma, Italy with extra virgin olive oil, fresh tomato, fresh Mozzarella and basil - $11.80) at Cortina's. Seriously, I've never tried anything else because I had it the first time I visited and it was so good that I have never been able to bring myself to try anything. Super fresh ingredients and, most importantly, good bread. So many decent sandwiches are ruined by gross bread. This location is super busy during the lunch hours at weekdays; there have been times where there isn't a single table available and the line to order is out the door. This is place is one of the best places to get sandwiches in all of Orange County. I believe they use Boar Head for everything (the back of the store has the distribution center for Boar's Head). If you can only try one sandwich, get the Cortina Special. read more
