I've been here numerous times, and I've always been a fan of the food, it is always delicious and now they have a habanero salsa you can request if you really like to spice things up! The big problem for us tonight was slow service, but to be fair it was cinco de mayo. We ended up waiting over an hour for a table, and they had actually removed us from the list, my husband however was wondering why people behind us were being seated and they were able to rectify the problem. This is THE Best Mexican food I've found in the central Texas area and I've tried a ton of Mexican places here. Typically Mexican restaurants are jalisco style and everything is super bacon flavored. It is absolutely disgusting. But at Corona de Oro the refried beans were not bacon flavored. The waitress said they were oil based. And oh em ge. They were amazing. I got a frozen Margarita and it was strong yet delicious. Didn't taste artificial like most frozen margaritas. Stick with a small if you're a petite person bc one made me a little tipsy. Ordered small queso for app. It was super yummy. I ordered a combo number two for my main meal. It was so much food that I took one of the enchiladas home. I got the traditional red sauce. It was awesome. There's six options for your enchilada sauce. Which I've never heard if before. I'll try a different one next time. Overall, this is BY FAR THE BEST MEXICAN IN THE CENTRAL TEXAS AREA! so I'm driving through belton tx and decided to stop off at a mexican restaurant named coronas de oro. I was in the mood for some famous texmex food so as I'm walking up everything looks pretty historical with a cool looking court house in the background. Coronas de oro had a perfect location it seemed being located on a river as well. ( river was basically dry but still looked cool ) sobi walked in to the noise of crickets bevause ther was no one there. So I waited for 5 minutes to finally get seated and when I did like every mexican restaurant they delivered chips and salsa. As I started to look at the menu a sexy little ( and I mean little 4'10 ) waitress came up to the table to take my drink order. As she walked away it made me forget all about the nasty chips and salsa they had given me lol. They brought me two types, a puck greeen looking one which was actually the best one ( still sucked ) and a brownish one which tasted like mcdonalds sweet and sour sauce. ( actually mcdonalds is way better haha ) so the waitress came back a couple minutes later with my margarita ( which was decent but I make better for sure ) and I ordered the fajita plate which seemed good and I ordered it with avacado slices. Yum I can't wait ( almost an hour later ) my food comes and the waitress is apologetic so I forgive her ( remember she's hott lol ) and am just happy my foods here because I had worked out before I got there so I built up a good appetite. The meal comes with beef and chicken fajitas, charro beans, mexican rice, flour tortillas and avacado slices. To start off the fajitas were horrible ( I still finished them only because I'm cheap and I can't stand to waist food lol ) they were sweet just kike their salsa....that just tasted weird. The charro beans and rice had no flavor to them ( I felt like I was helen keller when I was eating the beans only I had no sense of taste instead haha ) the flour tortillas tasted like they were bought at a gas station and the avacado tasted expired. The whole time I'm eating I was out of water with major cotton mouth while the entire staff is ignoring me and giggles over something. So the waitress finally comes over and asks me if I want desert. I said I was thinking about tres leches but that I needed it described to me because i forgot what it was so she ends up calling over this guy ( that was stoned off his ass ) to describe it to me. He did a awesome job and made me want it.....so she brings it to me and....yowzers!!!! It was freaking delicious. Two things I found out about this place.....one.....always take advice from a pothead about food and two....they had one of the hottest midget girls in the world lol just wish the food was better. read more

The original location in Temple is MUCH better. The Belton location has a very mundane and un-interesting menu. Food is of decent quality and the portions are adequate. However, the Temple Coronas just has that special something that sets it apart... the food is just a bit more authenitc and seems to be prepared with a bit more attention to detail. Interior has no soft edges and is extremely loud. Couple that with the DAMM TV's and one can't hear oneself THINK at peak times. It is very uncomfortable and for that reason alone will not return to the Belton Location. Leave the TV's to the BAR and let us eat in PEACE with the family in the dining area PLEASE! read more

Went here the other night. enjoyed the atmosphere a lot great view of the creek and music was very enjoyable. Great Tex-mex food got the fajitas and it was very tasty. Don't know why people have bad reviews on the salsa it is great as we'll and in my opinion everything was nice and clean unlike the taquerias.Only problem was the food took a bit but they were busy so it's understandable. read more

Food is OK at best. Management and service less than good tonight. Stopped this evening after hard day of work to enjoy dinner with my wife. Even though there were open seats on patio, would only allow us to sit inside in dark dirty booth area. Visited with manager and he had same arrogant attitude as receptionist, did not care whether we stayed or left. Decided there are much better places to eat. I believe this place is inconsistent at best and needs new management. read more

Best Mexican restaurant in the Belton/Temple area. The enchiladas are great. They also have a full bar and frozen margaritas. This area by The Gin is a hot spot on the weekends - be prepared for a wait to be seated. The service is always great and the food comes out fast. read more

My family and friends love Coronas. The margaritas are to die for and the food never disappoints. The staff and owners are very friendly and take care of our every need. The location is beautiful and the kids love to go down to the water after we eat while the adults finish our drinks ( or order another). This mexican restaurant is so good! Great service friendly waitress. When we were running out of salsa they brought us a new one right away without asking. When I asked about a certain plate being spicy she advise me of what was all in it. Then when she brought it she said she had put in for them to make it light spicy just for me. The food was fantastic and the bill for two ppl with queso and drinks only $27! We will be coming back! read more

The salsa did taste like pizza sauce/marinara like another reviewer mentioned. There was a strong oregano flavor. The queso did not have any real flavor, nor was it very creamy. It turned very rubbery after a few minutes. The beef enchiladas were swimming in a yellow grease and tasted as if they were freezer burnt. The location has great potential but the recipes need a major overhaul, starting with that salsa. To me, salsa is the restaurants introduction and this salsa did not leave us with a good first impression! read more
