We have been using coronado mobile storage for over 3 years. We moved to coronado in July of 2014... at first our experience was great.... but then it became less than great.
When we moved here, we rented a fully furnished house, so we didn't need our stuff. We called CMS and had them come deliver a storage unit. We figured with their quick delivery and load at your pace model plan, we could store and move as we pleased. We also hired a couple people from the recommended movers list to help us load the unit up. Only one person showed up. No big deal, my husband is still pretty young. So we got the job done and didn't fill more than 1/4 the unit. We paid 115/monthly for 1/4 a storage unit. Then the unit went back and we forgot about it, aside from sending a check(s) every couple months. (They don't have automatic payment capability, so you have to pay by month, or send multiple checks at a time).
Fast forward 2.5-3 years, our rented home was on the market and we asked them to deliver the unit so we could add more and possibly move it to a new house. They delivered it quickly (for a $50 moving fee). We began adding/moving our stuff we accumulated over the last two years. We were hoping to have a garage sale. so we didn't completely finish the job, instead we sorted and compiled. Nonetheless, after a week, Geoff called us and asked to kindly expedite our moving so he could get the container back. I asked for a 1-2week extension... he called again and was a little less kind, and our garage sale wasn't for another week, so I agreed to have it taken back. The garage sale came and went and I didn't want to deal with CMS again, so I forewent the additional unit delivery. We added to the unit and were now paying 145/month.
We found a house to buy and decided to have the unit delivered to our new home. The sellers of our new home didn't get out the date they said they would. So our storage unit sat from Thursday to Saturday. We finally got the keys to our new house(Saturday), and we hired movers from their list again. The movers came Sunday. We hadn't been able to move anything from the storage unit, because the movers said they had to go before we got to it. So we had a full storage unit, and a house of things we moved from our old house. On Monday (a holiday-labor day), Geoff called me and asked to pick up the storage unit on Tuesday. I told him we just moved, got the keys on Saturday, and hadn't been able to unload the unit yet. He then said, "so I'll pick up Wednesday?!" No, still need to clean out the unit. So then he got pretty pissed off with me and told me he would just bill me for any parking tickets. Okay, you won't get a ticket with a unit parked in front of our house... but you go ahead, dude.
I try not to be a pita, and accommodate people. But when you advertise a better moving model, and say we can "have the unit remain at your location during the lease period," but then call us and harass us to return the unit within a couple days, then I get pissed off and write poor reviews! Lol
So don't believe what their website says. Don't expect to have your unit at your disposal. Don't think you're saving money, because at $50/deliver charge, that won't happen. Also, with their preferred movers list they give you, expect that you won't get them for longer than 3 hours. So you pay for a minimum of 1-2hours, but can't have them help you for longer than 2-3hours. If you are someone who doesn't ask to access the unit or someone who doesn't need help with moving, then you may never have the problems we've had. But if you want access and need help with moving, then go somewhere else. It would've probably been cheaper in the long run.... or at least I wouldn't have someone calling me on a holiday asking to pick up "their storage unit." read more
