Jim and the crew have always given us great service. Because California is a third world country, like Bangladesh, that can't keep the power on when the winds gets over 30 mph, we have a propane backup generator that SUCKS GAS when it's running. It had been going for 3 days and ran the tank way down. PDS responded immediately and now we can run it for a month I guess. Probably less. Great service and good people. read more

I hate to be the one to give companies bad reviews but this is just way too bad to let pass. Today August 1st 2024 I get a notification on my cameras that there was someone on my driveway. I go to look and its a huge truck with a lift. I have no idea who they are or what they are doing there. I then see on my other camera that it says PDS on the side of the truck. I quickly Google search them and see they are a propane delivery company. I have a propane tank in my property which was there when I bought the house at the end of last year. I was given a number to call but since I switched all my appliances to electric I didn't really use propane at all. I was just told call this number which I checked and it was their number whenever you need this refilled. Which I was going to call during the winter time to top it off. Well if you follow the time stamp on the videos the activity went as follows. They came into my private property as soon as they went pass the sidewalk. I had not gotten a single notice, a letter on the mail, or a sticky note on my mailbox that said contact us we want our tank back. I would have gladly scheduled for them to pick it up but it was the bad practice of how they did it that really upsets me. After coming into my driveway and parking in my gravel area they proceed to make themselves into my backyard. The backyard where my dog has access to and where I thought was strictly off limits to anyone who shows up unannounced and without my permission. Luckily the gate was closed and my dog had no access to that side of the house otherwise my dog could have gotten out or bitten someone. After that they finally make their way to the front door to ring the doorbell where obviously no one attended since there was no one home as we did not know someone was showing up today. They could have shown up without us knowing but if we had an agreement prior to this. After no one comes to the door they then proceed to again go into my backyard through my gate and proceed to remove the tank. Note my gate is 6' tall they could not see it nor from the street nor from where they were standing in my driveway which again is private property. Thats why in one of the pictures you see the driver peeking over the fence. Again this is all bad practice and it's not the way of doing business. I would have not denied access nor try to keep the tank that I have no use for. It's just the fact that they took it upon themselves to make their way into my backyard without letting us know anything. Since then I have contacted the Police, they said it was trespassing and asked if I wanted to file a report. Like I mentioned I have no need to go above and beyond to ruin this company. I just want people to know with the type of people they are dealing with when contracting them or calling them for your propane needs. I believe theres way better options out there and please choose wisely who you go with. Please stay away and stay safe. read more

PDS is great. I really like the small business customer service that they provide. Jim has been great since we bought our home a year ago. I knew nothing about being on propane service for a home. He patiently answered all of my questions. Yesterday, we discovered we ran out of gas for our home. It was after hours, but Ashley still answered the phone and was very helpful. She got us on the delivery for the next day (today). Because the pilot light went out on the water heater and two furnaces, Jim personally came to the house with the delivery and lit all three, bumped his head pretty good in the process. We called Propane Delivery Service in September to have the tank refilled. We were told they would be in the area in 2 weeks. We called 6 weeks later and we were told they would be here in 2-3 days. That was 2 weeks ago. We have yet to get a refill or hear from anyone at the company. read more

Jim doesn't care about his customers. Told me to my face he was upset he wasn't making enough money off of me. Canceled my service because of it . After politely asking for a refund he never planned on giving three times for the remaining propane. I had to threaten him with legal action. Even after this his response is "Ok Tyler, Let's go ahead and do it your way. I didn't really want to engage with you but I'm tired of your threat. PDS is a very responsive and trustworthy business. I have been dealing with PDS for over 15 years. We lived in Pine Valley and had to switch from Amerigas after they let us run out of gas 3 times. We searched and asked for recommendations from other users, PDS was highly suggested and their pricing was very competitive. When we moved to Alpine, the home we moved to was being serviced by another supplier but we stayed by with PDS. We have had excellent service and their drivers are super friendly. Recently, we smelled propane in our laundry room, I called Jim and he and Carlos came out found the leak at our dryer fixed it with parts from his truck and did a complete pressure check of the entire system. We recently switched from County ProFlame to Propane Delivery Service. The customer service is so amazingly better and the price per gallon is better! I'm thrilled! We had a stuck needle recently on one of our old County ProFlame tanks (PDS has since installed new ones) and very unexpectedly ran out of propane. PDS came out the very next day and fixed us up! We are still waiting for County ProFlame to call us to give us a date that they can come get the old tanks. It sounds like it will be several weeks. read more

Jim is awesome! When we ran out of gas in the coldest time, Kamps told us they could not help us even though we have been customers for 6 years! Loyal customers! We are taking care of an 87 year old hospice Mom who can't be in the cold. We explained this to Kamps and they were very non caring of the situation. They told us we had to wait and that would be 3 days! We called PDS and Jim was so accommodating! He came really late just to fill enough gas to keep us warm for the 3 days. We told them to hold service while we researched other companies for a better rate. We found a better rate and asked them to hold off on delivery for a bit. Problems happened with the new company and they couldn't deliver the propane. PDS refused to fill the tank in any way, and told us they were done with us. Not to nice about the whole thing. I just moved to Ramona and in preparation I started calling around to find my propane provider. When I called PDS, I didn't feel the need to make any more calls. They were the most accommodating to my schedule, able to adjust twice after escrow got delayed, and they had the lowest price in comparison by far. I've reviewed these guys on Google as well. Why I'm also writing a review here: people should have the opportunity to be well informed. I was not and it cost me something like $700-800 thanks to PDS. I prefer to support small/local businesses and that's why I chose them as my propane delivery when I bought my 1st home. Also, the guy who runs PDS (forget his name. Sorry) seemed nice enough. Anyway, 7 months into dealing with them, I gave up and went with someone else. PDS DOUBLE CHARGED me for a 200 gal tank of propane and never refunded my $$. Fast fwd a bit, I'm pretty sure I have a leak at/around the tank but I can't get anyone to call me back. They come out to top off the tank though and leave me a bill... even though THEY owed ME over $700. When the owner left me a voicemail threatening to shut off my tank for not paying for the top off, I finally got angry. We had a convo and I explained my frustrations. End result: he told me he was coming to check for leaks and we'd get the refund situation worked out. I had to take a vacation day to make sure I was home for the leak check. The day of the scheduled leak check came and went, They never showed or called or... anything. SO now, they owe me a bunch of money AND they've cost me a day of vacation which equates to ~$350. I NEVER heard from PDS again. Never received my refund. It's been close to a year and they just came to pick up their tank in the last two days. Didn't even give me a courtesy call/heads up to let me know they were coming onto my locked and gated property or leave any sort of invoice to close the account... nothing. And, did I mention that they still owe me money? They totally do. They get one star because I have to. I'd give less if I could. I finally called and got a call back pretty quick this morning but I'm not holding my breath. It sounded an awful lot like virtually every other phone con I've had with them: "Sure, sure, I'm not in the office right now so I'm taking notes and I'll get back to you." But they never get back to you. I'm pretty sure they're going to do their best to screw me out of the $$ they owe me. I'll edit this/post an update if I'm wrong. Frankly, I'm tempted to take them to small claims court on principle alone. In summary, Jim at PDS goes way above and beyond all expectations! Highly recommended! When calling around for pricing to get my privately owned 250 gal tank refilled, it was a Wednesday afternoon. Kamps had a great first-time incentive price and they could come out in two days, but the terms on their contract were ridiculous. PDS did not give any first-time incentives, but they offered the cheapest refills, though I was told they could not come out for another week. PDS claimed that they require no contract, and are an as-needed company; that sure sounded great to me. As promised, I was called back by Jim within 24 hours and he came by that same day. My tank is old so Jim evaluated and safety tested everything out for me. He even informed me that my plumber who connected up the system did not do things by code, and showed me how to fix them. The tank had also virtually slipped off it's footings, but Jim got it fully supported and leveled back up again for me. ALL of this at no cost. It was filled shortly thereafter. I am very pleased with the level of customer service and customer satisfaction of PDS. I plan on being a very loyal customer ..even though I didn't have to sign any contract forcing me to be so. :-) read more

We had PDS install a new tank at our home. First, I had to have someone come to assist them in installing the tank, they were not able to get it into my backyard. Then, then overfilled my tank despite my request to only fill to a certain limit. They then charged me for the overfill. Despite their error, I was making payments on the account. I was told that I could have 30 days to begin making payments. While I was away on vacation they came and removed the tank, without notice. When I called to find out what was going on they indicated that they had called me several times and I had not called back. This was not the case at all but he did not care and would not be rectifying the situation. I would hate for any other customers to be mistreated and stolen from as we have. After years of paying rental on a tank, and getting screwed on per gallon price after their tank is at my house, I decided to buy my own. This company has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. They don't return calls and when you finally get them they lie and say they called and didn't get a call back. Their website says they are open 24 hours a day and that we can geta refill. When I called bc they didn't do their routine delivery to tell them we were empty, the guy called me "mam" in a very condescending tone and said that my phone call was peposterous bc it was midnight. Very disappointed with their service. I am/was a customer, who called for a normal propane fill-up. When I called to schedule a delivery I was told that I should go to Kamps because of my "special needs" (i.e. I have a locked gate). Also, when I asked them when the driver would be able to deliver the propane the owner said he didn't know. He wouldn't tell me if they have a normal delivery schedule & then stated that I need to get ahold of the driver myself to find out. Wish I would have known all of this before they installed that tank last year. Ridiculous customer service. Please don't waste your time or money on this company. read more

Tomi and Tony and the PDS team are amazing! We were new homeowners and new to home propane, and had a terrible experience with the company servicing our home when we moved in. Tomi was helpful and courteous in her email and over the phone, and Tony was able to delivery and install a new tank very quickly (in the pouring rain!), with a smile! He was able to quickly troubleshoot our appliance concerns, and recommended a service person to help us with the repairs needed. A few days after install, their propane delivery person came out and was just as friendly and efficient as Tomi and Tony. Their rates are great, and customer service is unbeatable! I had a Suburban tank on my property when I bought my house over 4 years ago so I used them. Alas, I was driven to reduce propane use by their high prices. We switched to a tankless water heater, pulled gas log sets, even switched from a gas to an electric clothes drier. When it came time for what would have been my most recent Suburban fill, they wanted $4.10/gal. I laughed and said "that's not going to work for me - go talk to your boss and call me back." When they called back with a "we can knock off 10 cents and make it $4.00/gal!", I said "come pick up your tank, we're done". Hence, I called PDS and Pacific. Pacific stumbled on getting back to me after an initial consult. PDS did not stumble & displayed a matter-of-fact & down-to-earth -ness that appealed to me. And their simple white trucks tell me their are capable of managing costs so they don't need super-high margins. There was a slight miscommunication on the initial setup date, but not enough to deduct a star for. We had one special request due to having a young child at home, and they honored that for me, and that counts for something in my book. I like that they said there was no teaser rate and their tank rent fee was also reasonable. Now, I haven't had to have a refill yet - because we sip propane due to all of the pain Sub-Urban put us through and all the gas stuff we took out. If it turns out that my refill rate jumps substantially over my initial rate, I will update this for all to see. I have a feeling that won't be an issue though. These are local people with local attitudes supporting the local economy; with competitive prices. Why do business with a big corporation who couldn't give a hoot-n-a-holler about you? read more

Jim, the owner, has helped me on many occasions - including coming out after hours in the cold and rain to fix the regulator on my tank so I wouldn't be without heat for the weekend. Recently I rented a house and found that some of the appliances ran on propane (just the important ones like water heater and stove). Since we have never had propane before, we knew nothing about it and never the less, we ran out. I called the number on the tank and was told they would email me paperwork and when they got it back they would set up a safety appointment which would cost $39.99. I got the paperwork to them the same day (approx. 6-8 pages) and never heard back. Then I called PDS and was I ever glad I did! I called on Thurs.and Jim called me back on Friday just like they said he would! On Saturday, Jim and Austin came to my house and although the tank that they brought was too big, they came prepared with a tank to put some propane in my existing tank to get us through!! No more freezing showers!! They were both so polite and informative I highly recommend PDS to everyone! Their customer service is fabulous and their prices are approx half of what you would pay elsewhere (they didn't even charge me for the safety check they performed while lighting my pilot lights for me). They answered all of my questions and didnt act like I was stupid. Not many business owners would take the time to come out, for free, on a Saturday to make sure a brand new customer would be able to take a hot shower over the weekend, but Jim did. These people are lifesavers!!! My fiancé and I just moved in to a new place in Alpine and wanted to start fresh with PDS. When I called to schedule an appointment I was expecting to hear that it would be a week out like everyone else...not the case! Tomi hooked me up with Jim and Carlos and about 3 hours later our front yard had a brand new 250 gallon tank in it with enough propane to hold us over until a truck could come and top it off(only 2 days later)! Late review, but still wanted to give my 5 stars! Upon moving into the new place we immediately checked our the propane level. The people before us were kind enough to leave us with about a 5 day supply. The tank was owned by County Proflame so we called and told them our situation. They didn't care whatsoever! The lady was extremely rude and informed us the truck already made its route past us and wouldn't return for 12 days. My husband called PDS and the guy was AMAZING. He even took our old tank and returned it to County Proflame (knowing from previous customers that they would not pick up their tank for months!) It's been 6 months and we have zero complaints about the service we receive from PDS. They come check our levels, don't let us get down too far, doesn't fill up for no reason and the driver that comes out is always polite. Yesterday, I found myself in a terrible situation! We had no propane AND we didn't have a current propane provider! (It's a long story!) I called PDS to inquire about setting up a new account and was greeted with a kind voice on the other end of the line. Jim was helpful and was eager to assist me.
