What a great experience! They were open and fully prepared when I got there as the first appointment of the day. Clean, COVID compliant, friendly. Receptionist had all the paperwork ready and greeted me by name. She told me "I will ensure you get the best value and most out of your insurance". What? Someone who cares??? YES! Met the doctors and he was on point. Personable and efficient. Went through all the steps of the exam and get this....he actually listened to what I needed. No up sell and when I asked about LASIK he said I was a great candidate but that I wouldn't get the results I wanted. Stay with contacts. Honesty, direct answers and professionalism. Rare commodities these days. Prices were aligned with San Diego and even Virginia prices. No Coronado price gouge. Bottom line: Come here for your vision needs. Professional friendly staff. Dr. Patel is the best. I have been to many before him and have been going to him for about 9 years even when he was in another location. I have even now relocated to North County and still drive the further drive to be seen by him. My mom loves him too. She was the one who turned me onto him and soon my three year old daughter will see him (my husband may too, but luckily his vision is still great)! Dr. Patel has a superbly friendly demeanor in addition to having extreme professionalism. Most importantly, he is the most precise doctor I have been to for my vision, as in excellent at what he does. I might even still go to him if he was rude, he is so good (and customer service does mean a lot to me, but luckily he is extremely nice)! I had a great appointment with Dr. Patel. He was very thorough and answered all of my questions. I was having problems with the magnified glasses I wear as a dental hygienist and he even took the time to call his dentist ( a friend of his) to talk about what might be wrong with them. My first visit to Coronado Family Optometry was enhanced by the beauty of San Diego & the Island. The office looks like a charming house with parking available both on the street & behind the building. My daughter & I were greeted warmly by Wendy. Our temperatures were taken, everyone wore a mask & the appointments are spaced so patients are able to distance. Dr. Patel is amazing! We have been patients for many years & followed him from East County. While doing the exam, he builds a relationship with his patients. He cares about people & invests in them. A few months ago my daughter got an internship with a leading technology company. She couldn't wait to tell Dr. Patel! Over the years he has advised us on antibiotics, education & eye health! It's rare to find a doctor who cares about the patient as a whole & not just their area of specialty. The office has the newest equipment in eye care technology which allows him to see things other Optometrists might not. Dr. Patel & his wife are life long learners in their field, staying current in trends as well as eye health. On this visit we were educated on blue light as well as vitamins that some believe aid in eye health. Today was my first time going to CFO for an exam and now I never want to go anywhere else. The receptionist Wendy is so nice and super informative. She is a military spouse just like me and she helped me navigate through the Vision Insurance that Tricare has to offer. I honestly never even knew that Tricare had a Vision option. Wendy also helped me pick out some super cute, new glasses and helped me save as much money as possible. I was seen by Dr. Irene Gendelman and she was nice as well. All the staff are help, glasses get turned around fast and it's never an issue to order and get my contacts. I saw Dr. Irene Gendelman last week to update my prescription and get new glasses that allow me to better transition between distance glasses and reading. She was great and explained about the new transitional glasses that can go from distance, computer distance and up close reading without lines. She took the time to listen to what I needed. Two years ago I had her husband Dr. Patel, who was also great. He got me started with bifocals when I needed more than just distance. What a great Optometry practice. Better late than never. I felt the folks at CFO deserve a shout-out. I received a new pair of glasses last summer along with my first-ever prescription sunglasses. The regular glasses were spot on so needed no adjustments. The sunglasses were off just enough to make me feel dizzy when switching back and forth between the two glasses. I took them back in to get an adjustment that didn't really work, and eventually, they got me a new pair of sunglasses with the right adjustments. The staff was great, patient, and easy to work with. I will be going back to them every year even though I am active duty because it was so easy to book and coordinate with them compared to my usual clinic. They were prompt and very fun to talk with. We recently moved to Coronado so I was hoping to find a new optometrist here; when my glasses (that I wear every waking moment) broke this morning, that turned my "someday" search into today!
