We're new to town and someone recommended this office. They were friendly and knowledgeable; everyone was, from making the appointment, the initial greeting in the office, the appointment itself, as well as the check out and ordering of the contacts. The doctor was terrific, including asking questions and listening to any concerns I had. My husband and I both went in, as we were both due for our annual checkups. The hubs was happy, too. They aren't far off of the green line trolley, which we appreciated. I'm not really sure what else to say. I am an ophthalmologist and when I recently developed a corneal infection that left me with irregular astigmatism and corneal scarring, there was only one optometrist in San Diego I would consider. That was Dr. Brian Chou. Dr. Chou has a national reputation for his expertise in contact lens treatment for challenging case. as Having just experienced his care myself, I see why. He is extremely smart, highly skilled, very professional, patient, compassionate and a great communicator and educator. It is obvious he stays fully current on scientific and clinical research and clinical advances. His office has state-of-the art technology and a very friendly, welcoming, and efficient staff. I did not think I would ever see well again in my affected eye, but he had me improved from a blurry 20/80 to a crystal clear 20/20 with a trial of a special type of contact lens called a scleral contact lens within a few minutes. I was very impressed by his expertise and equally so by the fact that he seemed genuinely excited for me. Poor customer service and unethical in how they conduct their business. By being a patient there, I am putting my trust in them to have my best interest in mind. They are the experts in handling insurance, the changes and costs of everything and should relay that information to their patients PRIOR to an appt, not after the fact. After my eye exam and my new lens prescription was written up, I was informed that my insurance no longer covers the special lenses that I require and that there is a fee for writing a prescription for these lenses (lenses are ~$1700, prescription is ~$300). Why wouldn't you share this information before my appointment? Had I known this before my appt, I could've reevaluated the situation and researched some alternatives. I have been coming here for many years but I will not be coming back. I am extremely disappointed in how this was handled and I suggest you change your processes if you intend on keeping patients. read more

My appointment was on May 22, 2020. Please know that my appointment was truly awesome. Dr. Chou was not just professional, but he really took the time to get to know me. Asked me a bunch of questions. Explained the process and results. A completely different experience from the last place. I got to ask him questions about contact lenses and eye glasses, and he gave me great professional and qualified recommendations about both. And getting glasses was fun and easy. Communication was a constant with ReVision in regards to my glasses. They were constantly calling me giving me an update about my prescription, which I truly appreciated. I got my glasses AND Cindy (if I remember her name correctly) made sure they fit. She asked me how they felt and she also gave me her opinion. This did not happen at the quickie shop in Oceanside. Cindy apologized that they did not have cleaning solution and said to come back again. She shared, they also have free refills. All I had to do was come back with the bottle. I was like, "Oh dang! I hit the jackpot!" COVID-19.... I want to make a comment about this. Even with this stupid pandemic, ReVision Optometry took various precautions to ensure our (theirs and mine) safety. Everyone wore masks (staff and patience): mandatory (YES!). The pen you use, you keep (Score since I always steal pens)! They took temperatures. AND in trying glasses on, there was a process in place to ensure frames tried on would be disinfected. Gloves were worn by staff. They were constantly cleaning areas touched and not touched. As someone very paranoid about this pandemic, they made me feel very safe. I truly found a great place AND another bonus was that one of their staff members is also from Hawai'i! I was totally stoked AND she graduated from the school I presently teach at!! Now come on... talk about serendipity!! I really hit the mother load!! I brought my husband here a year ago who has really poor vision he did a thorough exam and explained to us exactly what the issues were, and he prescribed the best glasses my husband has ever had. Revision Optometry recently took over the practice for the optometrist I had been seeing for years. I found this out when I ran out of contacts and needed my prescription ASAP. Although his practice was being renovated, he went out of his way to make sure I was able to get my prescription and ordered the contacts for me the same day. That was HUGE for me. Te customer service didn't stop there. I had my first appointment with Dr. Brian Chou yesterday and am VERY happy with my visit! He is very personable, knowledgeable, and friendly. They used a bunch of new and advanced equipment that helped me perfect my prescription. The renovation of the facility looks AMAZING and the staff (Janet?) was fantastic as well. Very professional! From front office to the Dr. This place was absolutely amazing! Very kind and Extremely clean!!!! They have the coolest technology I have never seen at any other eye exam places. I recently visited ReVision Optometry and my experience was excellent. I needed a prescription and new frames, plus I have a pterygium that required examination. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by the staff. I had a few questions, which they answered clearly and helpfully. After filling out the intake forms, I was taken back for a battery of eye tests. The process was efficient and easy and every step of the way, the process was explained, which left me comfortable. I was ushered into another test room. Then Dr. Chou entered and talked about my initial test results. He put me through another series of tests, explaining the relevance of each one along the way. Once testing was done, he punched up some amazing images of my eyes from different angles and using different technologies. It was fascinating and left me comfortable that I was getting a complete diagnosis. Dr. Chou was calm and engaging. He explained my diagnosis and provided a few options, without trying to sell anything or exert any pressure. Dr. Chou showed me the difficulties of my current vision, showed me potential solutions then let me decide. Once we agreed on a solution, it was back to the front room. A member of the staff patiently and engagingly explained my eyewear options. I don't know corduroy from Rob Roy as far as fashion goes, but the staff shook their heads or nodded up and down with each pair of glasses I tried, until we got to unanimous nodding.
