Don't let the odd and maybe sketchy outside location fool you. It's a really nice little optometry office with lovely staff and a wonderful, personable optometrist. There's some milk tea just down the sidewalk if you want a treat after your appointment lol read more

I just want to give a shout out to Vive Optometry. Due to my high prescription and astigmatism, I need lenses that are as exact as possible. I'm very sensitive to any changes that generally are within the "tolerances" allowed by the labs but just aren't quite right for me. Dr. Lee and Dr. Wu both were very patient and kind in working with me to get my prescription just right. The rest of their staff were always very respectful as well. I especially appreciated that they never made me feel like I was the problem. In the end, I have the best pair of glasses that I've had in years. read more

I've been coming here with my family for 10 yrs. The serive is great. Today we took my elderly father inlaw and the service was excellent.

The customer service is amazing. I got really sick from shingles and they took me in really fast to make sure my eyes were in good condition. I've been coming here for two years and trust then with my vision. read more

My boyfriend referred me to this place. Called Tuesday today to see if we could get in as a walk in and Ronda was so amazing, said that we can get in around 1:30pm. Very kind hearted front staff members, will definitely come here for as long as I can. Since my boyfriend actually has been coming here since he was a teen. Thank you for accommodating us on your busy schedule. Usually I order my glasses online, but they took my insurance and I actually was able to spoil myself for my birthday and got myself some Gucci glasses! Love their assortment of glasses. Received my glasses in 2 weeks. Love them! They are perfect fit! read more

Went through a list with my insurance then went to Yelp to check reviews on this optometry place in my neighborhood and I really didn't expect to have such a great experience here. I came into only to inquire and ended up being seen right away for my eye exam. Best part is, it was on a Saturday morning. What are the chances of that? I work Mon-Fri so it is so hard making appointments for these types of things. I came in and was greeted with kind front desk staff and the assistant Rona helped me throughout the entire process. Great customer service from beginning to end. They were not busy so she was able to spend a lot of one on one time with me, even helping me pick out the glasses that best suited me. The Doc was so sweet, kind, knowledgeable and super personable. She built a connection that made me feel like I had being going there for years. I am so glad I finally found a new vision care home and I am so glad it is in National City. They are kind of hidden behind Price Breakers (IYKYK) but I hope that through yelp they gets lots of business and stay open. Side note: As I was leaving, the doctor was actually helping another guest and I couldn't help but notice she spoke spanish! I thought that was pretty cool. Thanks again VIVE Optometry for such a pleasant and positive experience. I can't wait to pick up my new glasses! read more

I went in to get a pair of glasses adjusted that I had gotten from them in the past. Alma was helpful and knocked it out for me. I can get glasses anywhere. However, I'll return to this place because of the service that I received. read more

It had been a long time since I'd gotten a new pair of glasses, and since it felt like I needed a stronger prescription now, I was interested in finding a place nearby (and also covered by my insurance). This place came up and I gave them a call and they were able to quickly verify that my insurance qualified plus that they also took in same day walk-ins. I dropped by soon after and the whole process was really nice. Filled out my information, and I ended up doing a series of preliminary tests that included a pretty cool light/button pressing game. I also opted for the digital imaging scan of my eyes which cost extra. Afterwards, Dr. Wu was able to see me and we did the next series of tests (which included reading letters and lines). Once we settled everything, I was amazed at the difference in what I needed for my prescription and my current one. Dr. Wu explained the whole process very well, including the digital imagining scan which I really appreciated. It felt worth it to have added it on since Dr. Wu told me it would be a great baseline, especially for my future prescriptions. Once all the tests were done and my new prescription set, it was time to go frame searching. Now I'd had the same set of frames for about 15+ years, and while I was drawn to ones similar to it, I'm very happy that the associate helping me was able to thrown in some different types that may suit me. After many tries I eventually settled on 3-4 frames, and after a final round, I found my frames. Paid for the remainder (after insurance) which wasn't as much as I expected, especially after the addition of some coatings for the lenses (like blue light protection), and then was told it'd take about a week and a half for my new glasses to arrive. In about a week and a day or two, I got the call from them and I ended up picking them up a few days later. They offered some adjustments if I needed, and gave a case and some cleaning cloths which was nice, and I was on my way. At first I wasn't sure about them since my eyes took a long time to adjust to the new prescription, and the frames felt so different that I didn't know if I was completely happy with them. However, it's been about a week now after wearing them and my eyes have adjusted, and I really do appreciate having a slightly new look with the different type of frames. Thanks Vive Optometry for all your help on this next phase of my life. read more

When Dr. Watson retired and sold his office to a new doctor, I was a bit suspect. My wife has been coming here since she was little so being her wife, I came over and now our son comes here as well. Although their prices have increased, overall I do enjoy the service I receive. My favorite form of communication is via email and I can choose this method of contact easily to handle all my orders and appointments. If I find a pair of glasses I like elsewhere, they are likely able to find it and order it through my insurance. They carry brands that I like such as Versace, Raybans, etc. They have a very efficient team and a lot of the workers have been there for 20+ years which is important to me. I enjoy seeing the same faces when our family comes in. If you're looking for a new place, I do trust this business and intend to stay loyal to them for years to come. read more

Avoid this office at all costs. They operate under the guise of offering a very professional service, but will try to gouge you with extra costs to oversell glasses you may not need. How horrible to do this during the COVID-19 crisis when families are suffering from economic losses. I confided in the expertise of the optometrist, was given confusing 'options' to convince me to purchase more than one pair of glasses. I ended up leaving with a recommended prescription that didn't meet my needs AT ALL. I had to request a change in prescription which costed me almost $200 extra with no apologies or care. I am very disappointed in this office and would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Had a great experience in Vive Optometry for my annual eye exam. Leo was really great in helping me pick out new glasses. Will definitely come back! read more

The worst experience I've had with an eye doctor. First time I took my daughter to get her eyes checked, I was told she really needed a treatment that was not covered by her insurance and that the treatment wasn't FDA approved. i was also told that she would potentially lose her eye sight completely. So, I would have to pay out of pocket. I took time to think about that and I decided that if it was that important, she should see a specialist. When i told the doctor i wanted her to see a specialist and to refer her to one, he then said she didn't need it. That it was optional. i took my son in a few months after and ended up waiting for a total of 6 weeks for his glasses. 3 of those weeks, his glasses sat in their office, not checked in. My daughter had to go back to get her eyes checked again on November 15th, and a new frame because they broke. She ended up needing new glasses because the RX was not correct. She was also prescribed some eye drops that supposedly again, she really needed. The drops lasted her a week when I was told she was supposed to take them for four weeks. I called on the 29th to ask for another prescription of the drops and today, after talking to the pharmacy, nothing was sent in! I then found out that my daughter's RX for her glasses were ordered on the 29th instead of the day or week she was seen. I was told three weeks would be the turn around, that's wrong. Also, I'm not sure what the older Asian ladies issue, but she's always so rude! Why do you have to be rude when someone's calling to ask for information that only the people at this office can provide? Just seems like they're very money hungry and do what they want with patients that have medical! Quit discriminating against patients who have medical and get yourselves together! read more

Nice staff, Dr. Lee was very informative. I been wearing glasses since I was a child so I know the price of my prescription I think I paid less for my glasses with insurance here than I ever did at LensCrafters. I will highly recommend this office. read more

First time customer & let me tell you I made a great choice! Dr. Eva Wu was the best! I was stuck using prescription sunglasses indoors & out after damaging my regular prescription glasses. I found this place through my insurance so I called to make an urgent visit for new glasses but was only able to leave a voice message. Dr. Eva called me back within the hour to tell me they're closed for exams until mid May due to Covid-19 but with a current prescription she can open up the store so I can select new frames. Well my prescription was expired. Now I need a new eye exam so what does she do? She opens up to accommodate me for a new exam so long as I could wear a face mask over my nose & mouth. One week later I have my new updated prescription glasses! Wonderful Doctor; very attentive. Nice & clean Optometry. Highly recommend! read more

I have been going here for years and they have never failed to give me 100 customer satisfaction! Rona is probably the best person who ever worked there! And i highly recommend going to this place! You will not regret it! read more

I've worn contacts for 12 years well they decided that I needed a pair with astigmatism, I told the doctor no I never had that type of prescription, but apparently they can charge 60$ more for the appt if they diagnose the astigmatism, so they held onto my RX until I paid the extra sixty dollars, well now I have these horrible contacts that hurt my eyes and I do not recommend this place. read more

Dr. Lee is my favorite optometrist. For the record, I've only had four in my life, but he's great. The rest of the staff at Vive are also incredibly welcoming. I only come about twice a year, but they always feel like family. They also have a great selection of glasses and updated technology. When I wanted to try out contacts for the first time, they were incredibly patient and helped me as I learned how to put them on properly without stabbing my eye out. read more

A+ service, really friendly and professional, had my glasses quicker than expected. I recommend this place

It's the worst optometry our family got. Though the doctor were really nice but didn't get the prescription right, it's like having the new glasses using the old prescription. One of the Filipino lady has bad attitude. We spent more than $2000 for 5 pairs, it's not worth it, it's a waste of money. Not satisfied with their service. read more

Been coming here for years. Dr. Lee is really a great optometrist. He takes his time to explain about options for other eye contact lenses and detailed information about astigmatism. He also takes extra time to get to know his patients. Great customer service. They also have a great variety of selection of great quality glasses. read more

To echo the other reviews, Dr. Lee is the bomb! Friendly, knowledgeable, thorough and respectful are only a few adjectives to describe him as an exemplary eye doctor. In-depth treatment suggestions is just one example of his special touch - without a doubt, the finest eye doctor I have encountered. As for the frames ~ great assortment of brands for every price-point. My husband went with the Dolce Gabbana's (the optician picked out the frames and he liked them immediately) and I am going with the Tom Ford's. Helpful and organized staff. read more

I have been going to see opthamologists for the last 20 years and I have never visited one where I felt more comfortable or welcomed than I did at Vive this last week. The receptionists greeted me right away and were so nice and informative. My husband, 2 children, and I went to see Dr. Lee for the first time to get our eyes checked and we had the most pleasant experience. The office is spotless and modern, and they have all the latest equipment in the field. They also have a wide selection of frames and offer the most current technology in lenses. Dr. Lee did our eye exams, and Dr. Wu helped us with our eyewear. They both have very pleasant personalities, were very professional, very knowledgeable, and they were great with our kids. I highly recommend Vive Optometry. We have found our optometrists and will certainly be back for all our optometry needs. read more

My family has been coming here for years and now my 9 year old daughter came here and she loves Dr. Lee! but unfortunately the frames that we purchased (xoxo factory defect of some sort) broke three times. After the third time they said we can get a different set of frames but....they said this would be the last replacement because we have replaced them 3 times already When we first got the glasses they told us that we have up to ONE year!! It only has been two months if that... so they told us because the frames we purchased were on sale you cannot replace them anymore! Please show me in writing where it says if it is on sale you have so many times to replace a frame!!!! If not then I have up to a year still for a warranty! I do not recommend buying frames here I wouldn't trust them at all!!!! But DR. Lee is great that I do recommend. read more

This was my first time to see an optometrist in more than five years. I was very pleasantly surprised in my visit to Vive Optometry. Sue, the assistant who provided some initial tests, was very professional in her approach. Dr. Lee, the optometrist, was very friendly and thorough in his approach. Went several weeks ago to get a pair of glasses and my out-of-pocket expenses were extremely high compared to previous years and that is with insurance. I even bought the warranty. I had an unfortunate accident with my glasses so I gave Vive a call. I was told over the phone to bring in my glasses in and they will have them out to get either repaired or replaced. I went in this afternoon and the lady that help me was first off extremely rude and very unprofessional and basically said that my warranty would not fix the damages to my glasses and I would have to buy everything all over again...
