At any cost ... there is no air conditioning in unit 2... employees complain that they deal with this every summer... they rent these portable units and place them in the hallway of unit 2... The regular team throughout the holidays, Rosalinda amazing she's awesome very helpful. As far as nurses we got Gia very sweet Jovy another very helpful nurse The doctors come from all other locations Kaiser Corona Hospital so on and so forth so that's the same no matter where you're at. Getting them to respond to your call it takes about a half an hour. Some are really sweet and they'll have a conversation with you Someone will just come and tell you yes yes I'll get your nurse and then you never see from them again overall I do not recommend this place overall it is awful. It smells bad. It's just horrible. Si is the overnight nurse that helped me eventually, she dedicated her time to me and did everything I needed done.

Dr Fu stated he didn't feel levels were serious enough to do certain test despite my mother complaining about pain and being extremely congested. Later that week they found a blood clot and even though we were told they have all the medical supplies as a normal hospital but they didn't. So the clot stayed over the weekend. That same weekend my mother went into septic shock . The nurses and even social worker case manager couldn't get ahold of him all weekend. My mother got transferred on Monday and we were told she was deteriorating fast. This REAL hospital ended up finding out she also hold pneumonia in both her lungs and she wouldn't make it due to her organs failing despite us raising concerns and pleading for test kindred failed and is nothing but a money grab . If you get Dr. Fu get out of this place immediately. My mom should've been here another 20-30 years.

From the moment we met Carlo during our tour, I felt welcomed. The staff was friendly, compassionate, and genuinely invested in their patients, and the positive environment made our decision much easier. Once my husband was admitted, that first impression was confirmed every single day. The nurses, respiratory therapists, and every member of the staff treated him--and our family--with kindness, competence, and respect. Their jobs are incredibly difficult, yet they show up every day with compassion in their hearts and a true commitment to the people they care for. More than anything, I wanted my husband to become one of the success stories displayed on their wall. Sadly, his pulmonary fibrosis progressed to the point where there was nothing more that could be done to save him. Even so, the care he received in his final days was extraordinary. The staff created a private, peaceful space so our large family could gather around him, and they made sure he was comfortable and treated with dignity as he passed. Those acts of kindness are something I will never forget. I especially want to thank Gemma and her entire team. I cannot adequately express my gratitude for the love, compassion, and professionalism they showed during the hardest time of our lives. My only criticism is that the patient call system is outdated and makes communication between patients and the nurses' station much less efficient than it should be. I sincerely hope the facility receives the funding to modernize it because the people who work there deserve equipment that matches the exceptional level of care they provide. Despite that one issue, I give Kindred Santa Ana five stars without hesitation. Thank you to everyone who cared for my husband with such skill, dignity, and love. Our family will always be grateful.

Many staff Patricia,Darnell CNAs, and Isias and Michael were always amazing, they are compassionate, attentive, and genuinely go above and beyond to care for their patients. While the facility could benefit from improvements to the environment, the quality of care provided by the staff is what left the biggest impression.

From the very beginning until the end, everyone was compassionate, professional, and incredibly accommodating. The doctors, nurses, and staff kept us informed every step of the way, making sure we always knew what was happening and what to expect. They were also so understanding and supportive of our family, allowing us to be by her side every minute until her last breath. That kindness and compassion meant more to us than words can express. I truly could not have asked for better care for Trish. If you have a loved one who needs skilled nursing or end-of-life care, I would recommend Westminster Kindred Care without hesitation to my friends and family. To the director, the doctors, nurses, and every staff member who cared for Trish--thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I've waited a while to write this review to make sure my head is clearer for an accurate review -…read moreMy family relied heavily on true reviews of the Kindreds when transferring my father to one, so I'd like to provide information to other families who may benefit.  TL;DR: Kindred is bad, outdated, doesn't share information, has no online portal or easy way to get medical information, hard, if not impossible, to talk to doctors, and is the only option for LTACHs in OC. Of the Kindreds in OC, this one is still the "best." There are a few decent people (palliative care team, patient advocate, and the ICU), but they're limited by the system and other issues, and you still have to be present almost at all hours to make sure your loved one is taken care of. An LTACH is a step down from the hospital in terms of care, so you need to step-up to be an advocate.  Long: The building and systems are old. You can't get medical records/test results/doctor notes/chart updates unless you go to the medical records office, fill out a form, and go in and ask for paper copies daily (which we did). The doctors are not available, the nurses don't share anything ("the doctor will tell you that"), and admin can only do so much. Maybe you'll have a case worker that actually does something or talks to you, but the patient advocate was helpful at least and always made time. As far as care goes - the ICU area had better nurse to patient ratios and was really quite good. Outside of the ICU, it was more dismal. The nurses don't really care - most are just doing the bare minimum. There are a few good ones in there - you can request them if you want (do that). It takes ages to get a response after hitting the call button. My dad wasn't repositioned often unless he needed new dressings or linens. PT/OT only worked with him when we were there, otherwise they'd claim he was asleep or not receptive to working. Speech therapy came some but it wasn't until one fantastic lady came and really helped clear out my dad's mouth. You need to be there all the time to hold them accountable and make sure things are done. You can get extended hours approved too, which is worthwhile. Kindred works their employees hard, but the staff still need to understand that their patients are in critical condition, in long-term care, need compassion and good care, and are needing to recover.  The doctors are all listed on the patient whiteboards, but they're never there during visiting hours (it sure felt like this was done on purpose to avoid interaction with family members. We asked many, many times to talk to doctors. If you are the squeaky wheel, though, you may get lucky - pester and then pester more. That's the only way we were able to talk to doctors. Though some of their bedside manners could be better. Make sure to ask who the doctors/nurses/therapists are when they come in as they don't often do introductions. The palliative care team was really quite good - respectful, listened, and compassionate. They really helped us understand what was going on and helped us get the information we wanted and needed. When we were there, Kindred had just started a new hospice contract with Compassionate Health Hospice. It was horrible. They messed up everything they could from showing up 90min after their set time to messing up the medication order. And not even apologizing or being respectful.

I was always greeted with a smile, and all my questions were answered; requests were consistently fulfilled. Every day, Patricia and another lovely lady at the front desk welcomed me with a smile. Steven, the Wound Care Coordinator, kept me regularly updated about the wound. Gloria from Occupational Therapy worked with our loved one on a range of motion exercises for her hands and arms. Ray, Jesus, and Ismael from Physical Therapy worked hard and went the extra mile to help. Mary at the nurses' station always had a massive smile on her face and pointed me in the right direction when I needed to talk to someone; Jin and Nida, the nurses, provided excellent care along with other nurses; Joyce, the nurse practitioner, kept me informed regularly about her blood pressure and sugar levels; another Joyce, a speech therapist, came to do her swallow test and shared her progress. Veronica, the Case Manager, was accommodating and worked with the family to transfer our loved one to the next facility, offering comfort during her stay. Ann Marie, the Corporate Operations Officer (COO), was loving, kind, considerate, compassionate, and helpful, making us feel at ease during the process. They have an excellent team at Kindred Hospital San Gabriel. Others on the staff helped, though I do not remember all their names. If I can give this place negative stars I could ! No exaggeration! every negative review is right…read more!! I will admit you do have some wonderful medical workers and the rest are genuinely so horrible ! They'll leave your loved one for hrs unattended until something happens ! I understand it can be busy but it gets to a point where sometimes they go into icu ! Because why is the patient oxygen going off and it's @30% and no one's coming for the past 3 hrs ?! A comment one of the nurses made that my mother heard , they said "we can't do anything because the parents are here" .they're rude and aggressive with patients at times . Sometimes making them bleed . The way they word things too is so insensitive!! One person tells you one thing the other tells you another . No communication whatsoever ! Half the time , I fear they don't know what they're doing ! They come in with attitudes and which I understand it's not sunshine and rainbows all the time but these patients come in asking for THEIR HELP! It's not the patients fault ! Especially if they're in a coma or not conscious to make their own decisions. They leave them dirty and messy for hrs and hrs which caused the patient to give them an incurable condition ! Sometimes night shift is horrible so the patient the next morning wakes up all over the place ! Sometimes they're not detailed on information. Or they lie ! Please be careful who you guys hire because they can be horrible to these patients ! Yall need more caring and loving medical workers ! They just "do" the job just to "do it" ! BECAUSE we have to find out certain Information about the patient that we were never informed or aware of since they got discharged! They can make out of pocket comments sometimes too ! One RT. Said they were afraid to do HIS JOB (BY THE WAY) because they were scared the patient was going to bite him . By the way ! The patient is in a coma state and can't open their mouth ? Unless they yawn ! They spread lies and comments around that is not true ! Very insensitive things in this place !! Because how are you afraid or disgusted to do YOUR OWN JOB ! Front desk , black older lady ! Is rude too !! Heads up. Be careful bringing your loved one here and to this place ! Be careful who yall hire !! Horrible horrible . Making insensitive comments as well to an immigrant patient too ! Case workers are rude too. So pretty much , no one's really helpful! I fear they just drug their patients just to drug them and not properly fix the problem. Everytime it's always something ! And it's infections after infections !

Not too shortly after, his health took a turn for the worse so he was transferred to the ICU unit. There, he received top notch care. The nursing staff was more than accommodating, attentive, communicative and professional. Most of all, calm and empathetic to the situation. He didn't end up making it out but I will say that the treatment and care that my father received was something I've never seen before. The doctor made sure to call me everyday to talk about treatment plans, status, etc. The nurses never hesitated to answer questions and give us updates. The facility itself is well run and clean. I honestly felt an open door policy with the admin staff as well. I would recommend this place in a heart beat. I couldn't have asked for anything better for my dad throughout the last few weeks of his life.

I am happy to see the cleanliness of this place. While walking in the lobby, you'll encounter a front desk reception area where you sign in. The receptionist and the security in the evening were both very nice when greeting you. You'll sign in their log in clip board, and then you'll get a visitor's stickers before going inside. The hallways are bright and we'll lit. Lots of nursing staff members working. And everything seems orderly. I'm not sure about the doctors working, I didn't see any around, nor did I had a chance to meet any docs, but I assume they come around during the day. Regardless of the lower ratings here, I'm not sure why, but everyone seemed professional and we're doing what they needed to do... cater to the patients. Unfortunately, my experience here was short lived as a visitor. My aunt passed away a couple of weeks after getting admitted here. I honestly hope it's not true from the other people's reviews here, about their loved ones leaving this world after getting admitted to this facility. Is the cleanliness and the nice staff members at the facility a big facade? I hope not. But a nurse did mention to me about my aunt being in that condition and is suffering... blah blah... that she's better leaving the world so she won't be suffering anymore. I partly agree, but it's all about God's timing. She shouldn't be saying that in the first place to anybody, especially family. It's too uncomfortable for some people to hear even though the facts are there. Anyhow, back to the facility. The parking situation is horrible. You will have to park all the way in the back parking lot. The parking spots right behind the building is for the handicap, and part of that lot is also used for storing old beds. On the other hand, the front parking lot at the entrance is for doctors only and the handicap. They should just use the rear of the building as their main entrance instead of making visitors walk all the way to the front. I'm not sure I know how to rate this place. Cleanliness is four stars, staff is four stars, but the comments made by a nurse is unacceptable, so three stars, and the parking situation is a definite one star. So overall experience and still being nice, I'll give them a weak 3.1 stars. Imo, please do your research for any of these nursing hospitals before admitting a loved one.
