I love Cornucopia I have been coming here for at least 15 years and have always found exactly what I need. I trust their sourcing because everyone working is knowledgeable about their products. I always buy my Thanksgiving turkey when it's my year to prepare dinner because the quality is unmatched. One year one of my uncles said it was too juicy to be turkey. They also have Caffetino inside now, and I love their in-house roasted coffees. I buy a bag every week or two and I have enjoyed almost every single variety I've tried. I have always had a great experience at this store. The owners are very knowledgeable and very accommodating in informing you of healthy choices specifically for you. They have also added a great coffee Cafe inside the store. It is run by Giovanni and his sister. Both are roasting their own coffee beans. Botha are great batista. I have been coming here for years. If I need answers I get good educated help. I come for various items; especially their bulk items like zylitol (my favorite natural sugar) asylum husks, pink real salt, agar agar, ect. I also like that they carry Bison meat. Another treat is the Pure Joy bakery items in the case at the counter!! So good!!! So Cornicupia is a health food store. This where I buy most of my raw dairy. Like milk, cheese, kefir, butter, and cream. Karl & Tom are very knowledgeable about a lot of holistic medicine. They have helped my family a lot in our times of being sick. They have so many natural medicine. And if they don't have an answer they will find one for you. Two of the nicest gentlemen a have ever met. They even brought down there price on raw milk because it was getting to expensive for there customers. They also have grass fed beef, local honey, and local produce. Not much on here produce but that fact they support local is why I support them. read more

This place is wonderful. I walked in dumb as a box of rocks and walked out a wealth of information. I bought items for my wife who just had a major surgery. There shelves are full of wonderful item's at very fair prices. There parking is good and have good lighting. I will be shopping here for many years. By the way. Cornucopia has a huge selection of natural foods and health/homeopathic products, and the staff is friendly and helpful. They also carry a limited supply of locally grown, organic produce if that's what you're into. My only qualm is that the refrigerated probiotics I wanted they did have in stock but were more than three months expired. They offered me a discount, but I read online that probiotic potency is greatly reduced after 90 days. So I chose a different brand which I ended up not caring for as much. I've been back twice since then, but they've yet to restock the ones I was originally looking for. Have to drive all the way to Artesian in Stockton to get them, instead. read more

I recently heard about Cornucopia and was looking for a store that provided healthier and meatless foods. During my first visit I noticed that although I was the only one in the store the man and younger woman did not even acknowledge me. After I purchased some hot dogs and buns I returned home to make lunch when I noticed that the hot dogs were expired. I called the store to let them know and they responded to me that they were fine and were very rude about it. I called them back to tell them I rather exchange them for something else. They did not seem pleased yet said okay. When I got there the man argued with me that they were fine and they would not take them back and they could not exchange them because everything else they had was expired. I told him if it was a month past date I would not think anything of it YET they were over a year expired, he continued to argue with me telling me that it was impossible for them to be that expired until I told him to look at the package. He then blamed it on the company that sent them. He did not give any apology. It was the worst customer service from both employees. I can not believe how rude they were. Only place in town that sells raw milk and raw butter from organic pastures dairy. They also sell pastures eggs , an excellent egg for hollandaise sauce. Essential oils, cod liver oil, supplements, supplements, supplements. They have a coloring table in the back of the store to entertain the wees. Buzzbees raw honey sticks at the counter and jars on the shelf. Our family has been customers for around 3 years. We love it there, a great place for specialty foods. I have to share a sweet story, always being on limited time and gas budget I group my errands , one day I had to pick my pup up from the vet and need raw milk for the kids before returning home, I stopped here and found some dehydrated veggies to feed my pup hoping it would keep him form shriveling up and starving to death before we got home. One of the owners came out to greet him and was so moved when he saw my poor pup gobble up the veggies, he went back into the store and grabbed some dog treats (protein rich) and started feeding my pup himself. I will never forget how wonderful that moment was, so unexpected and sweet. Best Grocery store ever. oh, and "damn the man" shop small business whenever possible. read more

I love this place. Modesto, is hard for a business like this since locals tend to be less educated nutritionally speaking. I went in for a Kombucha drink, and they said they're illegal in the county. Not in the Bay Area though. They used to have organic produce which I hope to see back someday. The manager was very knowledgeable regarding xylitol and diabetes friendly products. I have been shopping in this store for years.. It is higher price than sprouts and vitamin shoppe but i do love supporting local small business,, I was disenchanted when I went in to get a herbal supplement I needed and the date was expired by 3 years! The owner said it is the manufacturing date not sell by date,, when I did research I found that to be false,, it is the same,,, The herbal supplements lose their efficacy after two years. The owner should know this... He did NOT offer a discount and said he would call the company to see what the date on the bottle represented,,, i have bought items there before with an expired sell buy/manufacture date in their clearance basket,, but that would be my choice. I would NOT pay full price for out of date Items especially 3 years... So was this man/owner trying to con me buy selling out of date items at full price or was He truly lacking knowledge. I hope this is not the practice they support, It is unethical and does Not represent a good honest local business. Please check your dates.. I expect to be treated with kind and decent service and care from a Health and well being establishment. This was not the case from Cornucopia Natural Foods on Coffee Rd. in Modesto, Ca. I have been going there and to Village Foods because they both compliment each other. Cornucopia has a great selection of books and the one guy with the grey hair and pleasant attitude knows his biochemistry and lipid biochemistry in particular like very few do. He is helpful and very kind. The girls that work there and the owner are gentle and kind hearted. I go in there with my son and he is autistic and oft exhibits difficult behaviors but they never bat an eye. I have never been treated with anything other than dignity and respect and their selection of free range meats is not rivaled elsewhere. They also have a very large selection of vitamins and life oils, and herbal teas and other supplements. I have never had a bad experience there because I go there for very specific purposes. To my knowledge they are the only place in town that carries raw milk, Savemart stopped carrying it due to lack of sales and Village Health does not carry it to my knowledge. So there is definitely a complimetary relationship between both stores since Cornucopia doesn't have a juice bar like Village. I find both stores utterly amazing and they by degrees are saving my life and the life of my family. They aren't just in commerce to make money; they are there to help people and make a difference. read more

I have shopped at Cornucopia for years and appreciate the variety of health food products and knowledgeable staff. I have been buying vitamins there for years and have referred many people to various products and this store. However, I have to say that the vitamins I purchase have continually, nearly every couple months, increased in price to a new and astounding average of OVER $35 per month. They are being sold online for $28 a bottle per month, thus over $14 more for a two-month supply. Two months ago, they had gone up to $69.45 for a 60 day supply, and they are now selling them at $71 and change for the same two-month supply. They had none in stock when I went in. Perhaps telling people about this store and the items I like is counter-productive where affordability is concerned. The price hikes have been beyond what their competitors need to make a profit. Consumers then suffer or need to use other providers. I hope that they can find a way to negotiate with their source for a better price so as to pass it along to the consumer, if the price they purchase this product at is the issue. read more

First of all, I show people respect and go by the golden rule of treat others how you would want to be treated. When i arrived, there was not one greeting from the women at the front. The older man was too busy on the phone talking nonsense and I even heard foul language. This was surprising to myself because it is a small store, not coroporate. Even though i have had corporate employees greet me and are there for me to make sure I am welcomed, so this really took me off guard. Second, the expired stuff being sold here and excuse that are fabricated, do not go over well with my intelligence. It sounds like I am being talked into buying a lemon (referring to a car). Please watch out for expired goods and all vitamins, herbs, etc. need to have a expiration date on them. If not something is wrong. Buyer be aware. I will not visit this store for the reasons that follow., First, rude employee and not a welcoming attitude and then being conned into a "game" if you would call it. I have read thee other reviews on here and other sites. I now know first hand what these poor customers have gone through and know it is true. I am from the Bay Area and decided to visit a friend for the holiday here. He suggested to go to the new market but found Cornucopia a lil closer to where I was at so I tried them first and it wa the worst experience One does not need to hear racist remarks an that turned me off.
