We decided to check out this place in Boulder City as it had good reviews and hearty Irish inspired foods. The location is in the center of a busy area of Boulder City that is off the man road but still surrounded by several shops, antique stores, etc. We arrived a bit early as it opens at 11:00 am but we're able to sit down and enjoy the weather while waiting for it to open. When it did open, we were being served by Ally! She is absolutely fabulous! There were several of us waiting to be taken care of and to see the grace and care she was giving to each customer was amazing. She knew the locals and they surely knew her! She was fast and tentative and made sure we were taken care of and answered all our food questions with ease. She gave us great suggestions and highly recommended the fresh bread as well as other great options. I went with the chicken pot pie and boy oh boy! That was the most flavorful peace of heaven I have experienced in a long time. The crust was flakey, and the chicken and vegetables were bursting of flavor and well seasoned all the way through. The staff is awesome and the place has a nice homely ambiance. And that's why I regret giving this place a two-star review. But the food is terrible, to be honest. The meatball pasty I got was piping hot when it came out. (I mean, there was steam emerging from the food itself). I tried cutting it to cool it down and the entire thing almost came apart instantly. My wife and I stopped in after a trip to Hoover Dam. I had the Shepherd's Pie Pasty. She had the Pork and Apple Pasty. She thought she'd taste more apple, but it was still very good. This is some serious English comfort food! The pasties really pack a punch. No. I didn't misspell it and it's not the little twirly things that the show girls wear. There was so much meat in the Cajun chicken and the chipotle sauce was spicy. Be careful if you don't like heat because it packs a punch. It definitely pairs well with the Cajun chicken Pastie. The royale with cheese was exactly what it sounds like. Almost like a burger in a pasty. Definitely a high scale burger. I mean it is a Royale! The Oggie was a great starter for my friend who couldn't decide with all the options. The shepherds pie was pure comfort inside a warm, flaky blanket. We all really enjoyed our dishes. Next time I will split a pasty, order one of their delicious looking salads and soups. Hopefully I will still have room for a Banoffee Pie. We like the Pasty. Always good and the vibe is great. Very different type of place for Boulder City which is very welcoming. They've changed up their tables- adding some long booths. It's that good and I have to travel to Boulder City (alternatively the LV Art District) in order to get myself some perfect Cornish pasty comfort food. As I walk in, the ambiance is a chill, eloquently displayed space with large nostalgic pieces of wooden furniture and chandeliers. There's a window to see kitchen making their magic. They've allowed us to indulge in: - A Shepards Pie Pasty (Lamb version) - ground minted lamb with peas, carrots, onion, and cheddar served with red wine gravy - Spicy red pepper chicken soup with beans & rice - a bowl of protein packed dense deliciousness that came with home made bread - Chicken liver pâté - buttery house made with bread and caramelized red onion (First time eating pâté, but after the first two bites you get over the fact that it's liver and it's steely yummy! GIVE ME IRON!!!) - Chicken Tikka Masala - such a BOMB idea to put curry in a Pie. Why didn't I think of that? Oh, I'm not a skilled pie maker like Pasty's! Service is good! Was highly recommended to check out this restaurant from a friend. My friend did not recommend this location specifically but I am wondering if we would have had a better experience of it were a different location rather than this one. We chose to sit outside on the patio as it was a nice night out. Shortly after ordering our meal & receiving our drinks, our waitress accompanied our order with our tab to pay. She advised us that she is not rushing us or anything but just wanted to provide it. Seriously? We literally just got our drinks and what would have happened if we wanted to order anything additional like a desert maybe? She did not even had the courtesy to ask us if we're were going to order anything else prior to giving us our tab. We had assume that she was going off shift but she cleaned out our table when we were done so that was not the case, but even so if she was clocking out our table should have been passed on to the waiter/waitress still on shift. It came off very unprofessional and made me not enjoy my meal. We were not even checked on the whole time after getting our meal and our drinks were not refilled. Customer service was terrible and will likely not be returning here. I suggest going to the location in Vegas or in Arizona. At least a place like Cracker Barrel will give you a tab closer to the end of eating your meal and asks if you are going to order anything additional. read more

The year would not be complete without one final meal out on the town so my friend and I drove out to Boulder City for lunch at the Cornish Pasty Co. We have both been to the location in the Arts District of Las Vegas a few times. This was the first time either of us had been to the newer BC location. We were greeted as seated as soon as we walked in. We were told to sit anywhere. We took a table kind of in the middle of the restaurant. By the way, this location is much smaller than the other. The middle of the restaurant is just a few feet inside the door. There is additional seating outside when the weather is nice. We stayed inside. We were given a couple of minutes to look at the menu and chose our pies. I went with Guinness Stew. Tender beef cooked in Guinness gravy and rounded out with potatoes, carrot, onions, leeks and cabbage. All wrapped nicely in a flaky pastry and baked to golden perfection. Quite the hearty dish when you think about it. As is often the case, I planned on eating only a part of my meal so that I have leftovers for later. That didn't happen. Partly because the pasty was too good. But mostly it was small. Not too small but small enough that half was not going to satisfy my hunger. I remember these things being bigger several years ago when I first had a pasty at the other location. Alas, portions have gone down and prices have gone up everywhere. Now I am full from lunch but find myself without dinner. Dang. The next time I have a craving for a pasty, I am totally coming back to the BC location. It may be a little further from home but it is actually easier to get to than the Vegas location. And its easier to park at. I can see there being a significant wait, though, when this place gets busy. It is so much smaller that tables may not always be easy to come by. My friend and I got lucky today. I have nothing but great things to say about Cornish Pasty in Boulder City. This location is small, but has a lot of charm still. The inside is dark and carefully lit, which adds to the ambience. There are a few tables outside as well which are nice on a good weather day. They offer a great vegetarian selection of pasties and even a few vegan ones each day. I hate onions and didn't know they had an overwhelming amount of them. I spend most of the time pulling all the onions out. I didn't enjoy the flavor of the pasty at all. We went in on New Year's Eve during regular hours at around 7pm. Upon arriving very hungry, we were beyond disbelief to find out that over half of their menu was out of stock, including several basic things like ground beef, fish and chips, and very common beers like Guinness. Literally half the menu on their QR code thing said "out of stock", and we had to find out on the fly that even more items hadn't been marked as out of stock yet when we attempted to order things. The waitress said that the main reason they were out of everything was that they were swamped trying to sustain their "to go" orders, but frankly I think it's incredibly poor planning to allow such a poor dining in experience in lieu of trying to support a bunch of people taking food out. If that's truly the case, they should consider ordering enough to sustain both models, or just get rid of "to go" orders, or at LEAST favor regular dining in over to go. I want to stress that the waitress that served us was very nice and accommodating and I in no way blame her, but seeing as I've read other reviews that have mentioned similar problems with items being out of stock, I think they need to seriously figure this problem out. Having half of your menu items unavailable is frankly unacceptable. They were honestly out of so many items that it would have been more honest and to the point for them to have closed for the day. We've been to the other location in LV arts district, but we wanted to try some more pasty flavors. We asked our waitress for her recommendations, and she strongly recommended the salmon and Mexican pasties. I'll admit I would not have thought to order the Mexican one if she hadn't recommended it so strongly. Both were absolutely delicious. The Mexican pasty was very saucy and flavorful. The salmon pasty was a bit lighter on the sauce and more hearty due to the salmon and potatoes, and the dill dipping sauce that came with it was so good. This was my first visit. It was a really hot day but a lovely breeze so sitting outside was actually quite nice. I had a dog with me so it was nice they brought me an extra carafe of water and a sausage bowl for her. I tried the beet salad which could have used more beets and next time I will substitute goat cheese since I don't like blue cheese. I would also recommend dressing on the side. This was my first pasty and it was really very good. It was an original one and I would have loved more rutabaga and less potato.
