Services were completed as far as the fumigation. I had made them aware that I would be on an int'l flight the day of fumigation. They left a prep list which stated that any factory sealed items need not be bagged unlike items that had been opened. Also, they said that if they had to take time to bag anything necessary, it would be charged to owner. I got to mexico and checked my voicemail with the "boss" telling me he had left some food outside that he thought was meant to be disposed of since it wasn't bagged. Turns out he took 100+ pounds of freshly caught and professionally vaccuum sealed and flash frozen fish worth easily over $1500 and left it in 80 degree weather outside. He defended himself claiming he's done this 23 years and he was totally in the right. It would have taken 5 minutes to bag and tape and put back in freezer. Would he have done this if it were Ribeye steaks? Zero Common sense which tells me they were rushing and with no thought to the homeowners. Also, I have new carpet laid upstairs and asked that they remove shoes when up there inspecting. That was clearly not done and dirt was left on carpets scattered. Vaccuum was sitting right there and they didn't even bother to vaccuum it up. Lastly, they left things open all over house as if it had been ransacked by cops. I calmly suggested that they redefine the "factory sealed" items and again I was told he has been doing it 23 years. I guess that means you know everything at this point. I would never use them again due to zero customer service skills, and lack of respect for the people's homes they are entering and the job they are there to do. My post is in hopes that nobody else makes the same mistake of using this company. Thank god I will probably not have to get another fumigation before this company is out of business. read more

Very argumentative receptionist. Going through a house closing process and they did pest inspection. I called them to schedule section 1 work 2+ weeks in advance but they are unwilling to schedule the day after I get the key. And when I offered to get key a day earlier, the lady just started arguing without listening. I am hoping their work is good but as a paying customer for $$$ of work, they sure need to learn customer service. read more

We contracted with Cornerstone Pest Control of Morgan Hill for both dry wood and subterranean termite extermination on our home. Cornerstone did the subterranean treatment, but subcontracted fumigation for dry wood termites to First Class Fumigation of Salinas. Overall we are satisfied. We found our interactions with personnel from both companies to be courteous, friendly, and professional. All scheduled appointments, inspections, and termite treatments were punctual and generally met our expectations. Time will tell if the termite treatments were effective. Our only concern was damage to our tile roof. Before tenting and fumigation homeowners must sign a roof damage liability waiver, the first line of which reads "When performing fumigations it is necessary to walk and work on roofs of structures". That is reasonable. What seemed unreasonable was observing a worker running on our roof during tent installation. (We were not present during tent removal). Although this is obviously poor practice and inconsistent with the statement in the roof damage waiver, neither Cornerstone nor First Class accepted any responsibility. First Class quantified damage by counting the number of broken tiles before and after tenting. It amounted to about $400 when we had our roof repaired. So, anyone with a tile roof should budget additional funds for roof repairs and expect it to be your responsibility both financially and logistically to deal with what seems to be inevitable roof damage. read more

For all intents and purposes the real estate market has its issues in regards to how things operate during a sale transaction. The requirements for section 1 work often impede the sale and add costs to purchasing the home. In most cases the work is warranted and needs to be performed. Its the other side of the equation that left a bad taste in my mouth. These pest control companies know they have the upper hand and can (if not of the honest type) add more to their findings of the Section 1 required area of the inspection report to increase their profits. Intially Cornerstone came in with a set price and some side notes - "but if we find this ... or if we find that ... and it needs this ... or it needs that ..." we will need to add to this estimate. To me it seems the buyer is at risk and has no legal ground to stand on. I was told it would be an estimated $4300.00 to fix the section one work then I received the bill two weeks later and it was $7300.00. After some negotiation and percerverance, the bill was lowered to $6325.00. The work was shotty at best in some areas they repaired. The granite over the sink area they removed was not saved as I had requested. The sink mortar work they performed broke and I had to redo the area myself. The roofing was removed in two areas with roofing nails left behind under the existing roof. Other shingles were torn needlessly leaving even further repairs to be done. There were some of work done with exceptable results, but after asking several times during the work effort for updated quotes, I never received one. It was as if they were trying to get every penny posssible and I had no way to stop them because I had to close the purchase. There is something very wrong here.... Honesty goes a long way. I am not the type of person to sit here and write a bad thing about someone unless you've crossed the line and had total disregard for dignity. read more

I have been using Cornerstone since I moved here 7 years ago. I have been extremely happy with their service and cannot tell you how much I appreciate the fact that I don't have to worry about spiders and bugs in my house. I like Everett and trust him. On more than one occasion I have asked for additional servicing inside my house to prevent any spiders coming in during spider season (we live in the sticks) and he has talked me out of it because there was no evidence of them inside and outside spray was good enough. Also, when we moved in, he could have charged me for the termite treatment I thought we needed, but after he checked the background records, he saw the house had been treated recently, and said I could wait on it because it wasn't necessary so soon. Even though he could have made more money on more than one occasion which I was ready to spend, he didn't. Great company and great service! read more

This is not a critique of Cornerstone but a review of Heavenbound Exterminator. I cannot find this business in Morgan Hill (even though they performed work here at my house), so I'm putting the review under Cornerstone. Why ? Because the dispatcher/phone person at Cornerstone recommended them since Cornerstone was too busy to provide me service. A very nice Asian man named Rex came out to my house but he was not neatly presented. I told him I thought I had trapped a rat in my attic and I would like to have him remove it. He then climbed up into my attic and saw that the rat traps (there were two) had not be activated; there were no rats in the trap. However there were rat droppings all over the place. He did not climb up into my attic but just stuck his head in the trap door to tell me there were lots of rat droppings and no rats. He said everthing was okay? (How could everythin be okay if I have rat droppings ?). He could have climbed up into the attic and checked more but he didn't. He then went to the outside of my one story house and opened up the access door to the crawlspace. He peeked in and said everything was okay; once again he did not go inside or crawl around and check anything near any of the other walls . He then came out and looked at my roof and said it was okay.. He had a nice personality and was saying how nice our house was and he had other customers near here. He did say that when he was up on my roof he saw no openings ???? I was with him the whole time and he never climbed up on my roof !! Where did that come from?. Anyway after a total of about 25 minutes he left and I paid him 90 dollars. O well I got scammed but so what. I've lost more than that in one day on the stock market(another scam). Anyway I don't recommend them and maybe there is a reason they are not listed in Yelp since I have no knowledge of his background or business. read more

I first used Cornerstone to tent my house for termites and was very pleased (albeit they contract this out to another company). This led me to use Cornerstone for a pest inspection several years later which was a requirement to refinance my house. Although they did not find infestation they did find section 1 fungus underneath the house and minor section 2 work. Much to my chagrin the bank demanded all section 2 work be done in addition to the section 1 (required). I was fairly upset but realized this was not the fault of Cornerstone. Cornerstone is also a general contractor and can do all the necessary repairs. Cornerstone's quote for the repairs was very reasonable and they even ended up giving me a discount. Everett, the manager, was very patient with me and helped me understand the pest inspection report and provided me suggestions on how to do some of the section 2 repairs myself. The office staff is outstanding, including Martha, who was friendly and accommodating. They provided all reports in a very timely fashion as well. They seemed to understand the stress involved in a refinance and I felt they wanted nothing more than to ensure my house made it through the refinance process. I would highly recommend Cornerstone. read more
