I've been trying to call these guys everyday for 5 days now (during business hours) to order a birthday cake. The phone is either busy or rings and rings and rings and no one picks up. This was one of the few bakeries we stumbled upon while in Truckee. The first time we went in and tried their bread pudding samples and had to come back six months later!! The second time we went into this bakery they ran out of pretty much everything by 1 pm which kinda sucked because we went there specifically for the chocolate bread pudding. They did not have that but had the blueberry so we decided to try it out. The lady that was working there told us that they made the bread pudding and keep it on the shelves for three days before they put out another batch. This again was not the most pleasing thing to hear given the fact that you pay a little fortune for one of these, the least they can do would be to give you a fresh one. When we got home, we tried it and it was pretty dry but the flavor was still incredible! It tastes like cream and caramel in my opinion... We also purchased a lemon bar, It was pretty thick and gelatinous, but I loved the texture quite a lot! Overall, this place is not bad if you go at the right time. It is quite pricey so be prepared to spend some money on these baked goods! read more

Holy cannoli this place is Amazing! They have the most delicious vanilla sugar that they put on everything. We got this croissant/crueler pastry that was filled and covered with this delicious frosting which was made of vanilla sugar. The Everything Croissant is really everything - like a bagel but better with cream cheese and everything. But the winner is the Focaccia - they make two kinds olive and olive oil and sea salt. It's just the yummiest thing. The women who worked there made great loose tea and espresso drinks. We went back twice. read more

Stumbled upon this gem of a bakery in Truckee as parking was too busy on the Main Street. Best oatmeal raisin cookie I have ever eaten in my life! Coffees were delicious too. Extremely pleasant service. Wish we bought a loaf of their scrumptious looking focaccia to take home. I look forward to trying their breakfast/lunch spot Cornerstone Kitchen next door! I ordered two cinnamon cookies because I was a bit confused on how to order or if there was a menu or something like that. These were the best cookies I have had in my entire life. I seriously regret not trying the other things that they had for sale. It was pretty much my fault that I didn't order more. I was feeling sort of anxious then so I didn't ask the baker about all the things they had for sale. I also should have asked if I could have ordered more than two cookies. This little shop is off the main Truckee strip but it's worth crossing the street and across the train tracks for a visit. I stopped here during a power outage and they were one of the few businesses open. They had some hot coffee in their larger thermal dispensers and I grabbed an apple galette. Wow, it was the best galette I've ever had. The experience that was sitting outside during a brisk afternoon drinking hot coffee with a fantastic pastry was memorable. So much so that I went back the next day to grab two more galettes before I left town. The prices are good and the staff are very friendly. Their arsenal of baked goods are made with care and with obvious skill. A definite stop when I'm in town from now on. read more

Yesterday on the way home from Reno, we stopped in Truckee for a bite to eat. My husband had salmon and eggs which was $22 on the menu, and I had just a biscuit with an egg, bacon and a piece of cheese. While the food was tasty, we found it on the expensive side. It was $50 for breakfast with coffee. It appeared everything was an add on when she was ringing up the order. With tip it was $57.50 which seemed excessively expensive for breakfast at a non full service restaurant. However, the biscuit was really nice. read more

So I decided to step in this past Saturday and get some after lunch sweets - second time I have been in this bakery and its really so cute and cozy! Decided to splurge a bit with a lemon bar, oatmeal cookie, scone and brownie! Everything was so delicious and reasonably price at $3 each. My husband loved all of it and I did too! The ONLY reason I am not giving 5 stars is because it was a bummer to have the young woman who was working the counter act as if I was really putting her out ; ( She clearly was not having a great day and I get it - probably nuts during the Holiday season but its becoming a bit of a bummer to have to contend with the more often than not "I don't want to be here" attitude of the Truckee dining scene. While I am not a local per se I do live in Reno and come to the greater Tahoe area - Truckee in particular and happy to spend my money there but sheesh, this gal barely acknowledged me, not a hello, not a weak smile - just grabbed what I requested, shoved in the bags and then pushed over the counter to me. If I were the bakery owner I would be a touch disappointed and concerned this was the person greeting or rather not greeting customers. I will come back to this bakery as its so yummy for a treat and latte - I'm just going to guess it was a one off / bad day but if that's the "service" I'd have to contend with again - I'll just go someplace else. read more

They serve up decent coffee and really delicious fresh baked goods-- a cinnamon roll housed in a round cylinder, exposing only the white icing, looking like an oversized ice cream cone; compact, round glazed blueberry/lemon pastries; ham croissants that look more like folded over bricks of thick bread; wonderfully buttery, flakey apple galletes. There are small assortments amount of cakes, tarts, brownies, and other sweets. Depending on when you arrive in the morning, there could be a line. Omg the most amazing food. We stumbled upon this place and had the most wonderful experience. Sunday afternoons are crazy busy in historic downtown Truckee. We by passed all the long waits in other restaurants and found this little gem. Outside seating with a lovely breeze and quaint little pic-nic tables wedged in between historic buildings with brightly colored sail clothes above us. I had the Italian sandwich with aioli and jalapeño cheddar fresh baked bread with a fresh salad topped with heirloom tomatoe. My hubby had the BLT with thick sliced bacon and home made French fries. To top it off we had dessert from the bakery connect to the restauran. Berry mixed bread pudding topped with fresh whipped cream could not be beat. This place is amazing. Everything in there is made from scratch and is gorgeous! And super delicious! We went in to order a pumpkin cheesecake which is amazing! On a request to one of the owners and bakers. We mentioned we had once eaten Chocolate Challah bread and wondered if they had ever made any . She said , No she had never heard of that but it definitely sounded amazing and she would give it a try. The pastries here are so fresh and good! We really enjoyed the buttery and flaky croissant which we gobbled up before I could get a pix of it. The cinnamon roll really caught our eye, soft and fluffy, and did I mention the size - huge! Big enough to share with a couple people. So happy to have discovered this place. Good thing it was the end of the vacation and not the beginning or I would have eaten a lot more sweets on it. The cinnamon roll was delicious with cream cheese frosting and humongous! I split it with my husband and fell full. Also bought the truffle pastry that was really a fun savory option and tried the vanilla bean pull apart that was like a croissant glazed donut. I bought the chocolate caramel candy bar that is like a very decadent whatchamacallit. Had a lot of caramel in the candy bar which made it very sweet and rich. Probably would have liked a little less caramel in it. But it was delicious and glad I split it with my husband. Went in hoping for bagels since Truckee Bagel closed: no luck. BUT the coffee was incredible (they serve Temple from Sacramento) and the baked goods we got were delicious. I only wish some croissants were available at the time we went in. We'll definitely come back! read more

Stopped here on a dash out of town before 80 was closed due to snow. Excellent stop. Good coffee? Check. Plenty of interesting bakery items? Check. (Pumpkin twist was a great surprise). Good service? Check. Parking? Check. Inside seating was limited. Weather outside was cold and wet and I did not see that they would have outside seating in pleasant weather. Great stop for us for what we needed. My first choice now for coffee and a snack in downtown. It's a bakery that sells good coffee and not a sit around enjoy a cup of coffee kind of place, at least least not when there is ice and snow and bad weather. read more

I visited this place last Wednesday afternoon and I must've been blinded by my craving for pastries. I did not notice that the young girl that helped me did not have on neither a mask and/or gloves! It wasn't only until my daughter told me after we left the store that I recalled she also did not sanitize her hands after helping the customers before me!! I ate some of the pastries and tossed the rest out. While it was good, I will never patronize this place again. The lack of common sense to practice safe sanitation during this pandemic is very irresponsible. read more

I wanted to try Cornerstone based on recommendations I've heard over the years and decided to go for it. After ordering a chocolate croissant, vanilla pull apart, and bear claw I was very disappointed overall in the texture and freshness of the pastries themselves that I actually threw them all away after a couple of bites. Not only are they pricey bites but the recipe of each felt too overpowered with butter to mask the inadequate flavor that one would expect in such pastries. All of the edges were so crumbly that they fell apart as you bit into them. I wouldn't recommend going here to satisfy your pastry craving if you want unique flavor and decent texture in your food. read more
