I've been trying to enjoy a scone here for quite some time, and probably 3 to 4 months ago I was able to do so. I ordered two blueberry scones; they were huge. I sat down at a table in the darling surroundings to eat one. Unfortunately, the inside was very doughy, not thoroughly baked, was missing the flavor of any salt, and there were very few berries to be found. I have to say I was disappointed but maybe it's not fair to judge them on one visit. I've been making scones for my home tea parties for years and I think I do a pretty good job of it, but I'm sure things are very different when making them commercially for the public. I'll give them another try at some point and I must say, I should've said something to the owners who were present that early afternoon. I truly would like to love this place! read more

We traveled from Livermore to grab some goodies, as we have done in the past, and although most of the pastries are very tasty, the customer service from behind the counter leaves much for the imagination. Rude and abrupt would be an understatement. I will say, the Local man "Kevin", who was the patron in front of us, was treated very well so we anticipated the same. However, we were definitely mistaken. From barking orders to her staff behind her to her rude behavior with us and treating us like we were more of a bother than a customer, we left almost wanting to return and place our items right back on the counter. Between the 3 of us in our party, we spent $50 on pasties that would be tossed (hopefully donated) in a matter of hours due to the fact we were there shortly before closing and we were completely dissatisfied. We could not wait to go back there and grab some tasty treats as we had in the past, but now, we will most definitely not waste our time. After multiple visits I'm just not that impressed. I've had barely warm, but tasty French onion soup, blah bean soup & no salt or pepper shakers in sight & a breakfast sandwich with brown exterior to the eggs. I called Corner Scone Bakery the week before Thanksgiving to see if they sold gift certificates. It was going to be a sizable one. I was informed that yes they did sell gift certificates. Drove there this morning some 45 minutes away from my house to find out to my astonishment that they do not. In fact, I was told they aren't selling them anymore. We had planned to also have breakfast there but we were so disappointed we left instead, after I picked my jaw up from the ground. Easily the best bakery in the Lodi area. Everything that I have had has been amazing. The fact that they have Temple coffee and espresso makes it even better used to have to drive to midtown Sacramento to get temple coffee. There breakfast sandwiches and quiches are a must try. I've had my eye on this little nook of a spot near my home that I always knew would be just perrrrrfect as a Bakery. Now it IS !! Hoo-Rayyyy !! Just a few blocks walk off of the north west end of the charming Downtown Lodi shopping/dining area as well !! A while ago we began noticing the progression of the place taking shape and low and behold, they are now OPEN !! Fresh, baked on premises Scones, Muffins, cookies, Biscotti, turnovers ... Even quiche ! Super friendly staff , samples , coffee and tea selections ... Can't complain ! Can't try everything in one day so I chose a few standouts to share with hubby so we can both taste a few things. Maple BACON walnut Scone. Mmmmmm. Also Chocolate Chip Scone. Now, these can be tricky. I've baked them and it's a fine line to not have them crumbly and dry. But they aren't cake per say so shouldn't be "moist". Ours were perfect ! Held their texture, dense not crumbly, and most importantly full of flavor ! (Mayyyybe a scosh more bacon in the bacon one ? Only cause one can never have tooooo much bacon lol ). Plenty of chips in the choc chip one as well. I also could not pass up my favorite quiche - Lorraine. This was a nice size slice with plenty of cheese which can often be lost but it was just the right amount ! We have a couple mini Red Velvet Cupcakes , bite size, for later but I am sure they are wonderful (will let you know !) I did mention we split all that right ??? LOL AND we had been to the gym riiiiight around the corner already so it's all good !! Stop by and pick up a treat; in house seating coming as well very soon !! Will be a great coffee/chat spot !!!! So ever since I went to England a few years ago I've been dying for a place that serves freshly made scones and tea. Too many places in the US simply buy their scones in (or even worse, make them without knowing HOW). I simply cannot believe I would get so lucky as to find a place that makes scones and tea as good as the ones I had in England right here in Lodi!! Of all places, its ridiculous. Anyway, I had their maple bacon scone which was AWESOME. Can't go wrong with maple and bacon, but the scone itself was excellent. They definitely know what they are doing here! Tea was good too, although to make my dream of the perfect English breakfast complete I was really hoping for some clotted cream to go with it. But everything else made up for that - the baked goods, the service, and the absolutely adorable decor -- and I'm probably the only one who cares about clotted cream anyway! Its a tiny place, but the vibe is nice. Its cutely decorated but without that ultra uptight, " stuffy old lady" kind of feel you might expect from a place specializing in scones. It was actually pretty relaxed. They also just started doing a high tea service every saturday or so that includes all the little goodies you'd expect from a high tea. I believe price is around $20-25 a person. I really want to check that out too, would definitely be a fun little experience. read more

I live within walking distance of this place and want to love it so badly, but every time we go our order gets confused and served incorrectly. The staff are very sweet and it's a cute place, so we still come here often but there are definitely many areas for improvement. We always ask to have our coffee in mugs to reduce waste, but they almost always forget this and bring it out in paper cups, in addition to mixing up the sizes we ordered. The scones are very flavorless and overly dry. I love Temple coffee but the way they prepare it here doesn't produce the best flavor, especially in their espressos. I popped in here to buy some baked goods for the holidays, and upon walking in, I was immediately greeted with kindness from the staff. Terrie in particular was so helpful and patient while I made my selection. For me, a place is only as good as it's service, and I really felt very welcomed.
