I like this Corner Bakery location because it closes late compared to other locations in the area. I like how consistent the food is across locations, and I have my favorites on their menu (chicken pasta and strawberry salad). The dining area is huge, which is nice if you have a large group with you. Customer service is great. I like how they are also hardworking thought the day. I always see the staff walking around making sure tables are clean, floor is clean, and chairs are placed back in their proper locations. Parking is plenty in the plaza. read more

Horrible service. Waited. Nobody else was there waiting. Got the tiniest mumble of acknowledgement, then ignored a couple minutes. So, I went to the restroom. Came back out a couple minutes later, right behind a guy picking up, the employee left the register immediately without a word though she saw me there Had her back to me, less than 10 ft away. She wasn't uncomfortable, but I sure as hell was. Cleared my throat subtly after about a minute of that. Was acknowledged about a minute after. She asked if i wanted to order. She was so uninterested in my presence that she had my entire order of three items completely wrong. It's like you can't force people to take your money anymore- let alone expect halfway decent service. It's a bummer. This used to be one of my favorite places with great service. Guess that's a thing of the past. And sadly, I don't see this location making it much longer considering this experience and the lack of people present, esp since they used to always be pretty packed. Good. For lunch we had the Rustic Italian panini. It was like a small sub-sandwich properly toasted in a panini. Not something I would go out of my way for but acceptable. And, by the way, not a bakery. On the down side they were confused that we ordered and paid for two full sandwiches of the same thing. We received one sandwich half on each of two plates with one bag of chips to split. Worst part was that by 12:30 about 15 elementary children came in and treated the place like a club house. I've been to this location a handful of times and the most recent to-go visit, my California Grille panini was burnt, but I didn't see it until I got home. I redeemed the buy 1 get 1 free offers. The other item I ordered was the tomato mozzarella sandwich, which looked and tasted just fine. I picked off the burnt parts of the panini, but other than that, the taste was just ok as well. Neither of the items "wowed" me nor did either "stand out." Customer service was fantastic, I arrived on a Wednesday around 10:40am and lunch items aren't served until 11am, but the cashier was friendly and enthusiastic. He went ahead and physically turned the menu around to showcase the lunch options so that I can order my panini and sandwich. Another wait staff offered me water as I waited, which I could've gotten myself since the drink station is self service. Bottom line, food is 2 stars, service is 4 stars. Nice cozy little spot inside a big plaza right on Pacific Coast Hwy. You walk up and order at the counter, then they give you a buzzer for when your food is ready. I'm not a huge breakfast eater, but the picture of the banana French toast looked amazing! It comes with candied pecans and whipped cream, presentation was great. You can add a side of bacon, which I highly recommend!!! Three large thick cut pieces with a sweet carmelized coating, some of the best bacon I've had. Went in at about 1:00pm on Valentine's Day. It was empty except for one other lady sitting at a table and another person picking up food. I ordered the half salad half sandwich meal. After standing around for over 15 minutes and watching people order in-person and receive their orders before me I have to ask how much longer my order will be. The girl looks for my order and it was sitting on the counter the entire time (from before I arrived and paid!!). She hands me my order and walks away, not one attempt at an apology for the delay, or a care given that I was visibly upset and disappointed by this. What a pleasant surprise! This was my first time at the Torrance location. I had eaten in the Long Beach location years ago and recall my friend saying that Corner Bakery was her favorite sandwich and soup place. My expectations were a 3 or 3.5 as this is a chain eatery. The sweetie and I were here on a Sunday afternoon thanks to a gift card from the holidays. I must start with the very delicious chicken pesto sandwich- chicken, arugula, tomatoes with sweet and spicy house vinaigrette and pesto mayo on a ciabiatta roll. YUM! Good sized portion. I strategically ate half and saved the other half for the lunch the next day. Even for the next day, the sandwich was still scrumptious! (Another reason why I ate just half of my sandwich is because the Corner Bakery is situated in the same strip mall as my favorite ice cream shop, Handel's. Had to leave room for ice cream.) Anyway, I was so pleased with my sandwich that I didn't bother sampling the sweetie's roast beef sandwich. I had him sample my sandwich and he said that he gives the edge to the chicken pesto. I had a little bit of my partner in dine's New England clam chowder and we both found the soup very impressive. The clam chowder was creamy, rich, and tasty. I do not recall having a better clam chowder in the Los Angeles or South Bay area so at this moment, Corner Bakery is our place for local clam chowder. (Our favorite all-time clam chowder exists in San Francisco.) Our sandwiches were accompanied by bags of chips and for fountain drinks, we chose the hibiscus lemonade which hit the spot. This Corner Bakery earns a solid four. The format is that you order in the front, get a number, and the staff brings you your food, and they also buss your tables as well. The booths were occupied and the corner booth had not yet been bussed yet so we chose the tables and chairs adjacent the window. The walls near the front have photos of the Old South Bay. Plenty of parking in the strip mall. We'll be back for sure and will probably try the paninis that they are known for. read more

I absolutely love Corner Bakery! I don't get to come here as often as I'd like, but I do try to make a point of it when I have time. Today, I ordered my favorites... Asian Wonton Salad: It comes with chicken, edamame, tomatoes, cucumbers, red bell peppers, carrots, onions, cilantro, crispy wontons, mixed greens and cabbage with their delicious ginger soy dressing. Chopped Salad: It comes with chicken, bacon, avocado, bleu cheese, tomatoes, green onions, ice berg and romaine lettuce and their signature house vinaigrette dressing. I also cut up red onions at home and add it to this salad. Roasted Tomato Basil Soup: It comes with croutons on top, but I tell them none for me, because I don't like wet bread. Because of the heat from the soup, the croutons soften and it's just gross to me, so be sure to ask for no croutons if you're like me! :-) They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and I have also come for breakfast many times. The smoked bacon and cheddar panini will knock your socks off! They also have breakfast entrees like pancakes and eggs, the Farmer's Scrambler that consists of scrambled eggs, peppers, mushrooms, onions, and cheddar cheese, and other delicious choices. They do have Corner Combos in which you can choose a sandwich or panini combo, signature salad combo, or a pasta combo. I've never tried their pastas, since I'm not a huge fan of pasta, though I will occasionally eat it. Pasta turns to sugar in your system and my hips don't need anymore help spreading! At the same time, I'm a hypocrit about that because I absolutely love their banana muffins! Talk about something sinful! In all, this is a great location! The staff has always been friendly and helpful, though I have gotten stares from other patrons, probably because of my sleeve, because that's where the eyes tend to settle, but people are cool here. I'm tired of airport food, so I try to buy my take out food at grocery stores or convenient restaurants. This establishment is close to my hotel, so I popped in here to get something to go for my flight this evening. The set up reminds me of La Brea, Panera bread or Wild Flower Cafe. This cafe is just beside our place which we have recently rented. This morning I walked in to have a latte as my routine in the mornings. My second experience in this cafe. The espresso machine was not working and the girl at the cash apologized very politely. I ordered a cafe which means I will have my cup and drink any choice from the 6 containers there. Came back on a Sunday afternoon, around 1:00. The place was pretty full, and I was worried we wouldn't get a table. Fortunately, it took a while to place our order (the guests before us couldn't make up their mind on what to order), so a few table did open up. Unfortunately even though we found tables, they were not clean. Apparently the staff bus the dishes, but didn't wipe down the tables. You can still see the dish marks, water from the cup condensation and crumbs from the meal still on the table and chairs. For this visit, it took particularly long for our food, which was a chop salad and a bowl of chili. I was able to tweet the person who was representing CB, and that person even knew I was waiting for quite a while. It was busy, but not necessarily slammed. I do like Corner Bakery, but this location is not one of my favorite ones. Unfortunately the next closest one is in Manhattan Beach, about 20 minutes away. This Redondo location has the monopoly of the Torrance/ Redondo/ South Bay area. Too bad its not like North Orange County, where you have a bunch to choose from in a 5 mile radius. I honestly can't tell the difference between panera and corner bakery!! Quite similar they are. A typical salad, soup, and sandwich place with a lot of baked goods! I don't really come here for the food but actually to come and study whenever near Starbucks are too crowded. One negative thing about this place compared to panera is that they don't have good lighting... It's quite dark... Their sandwich and soup and salad was all okay. Nothing too amazing but I do at times crave sandwich and soup! And it's a perfect place to grab that! They have a coffee stamp card that let me collect coffee stamps so it all worked out for me to grab a free large cup of coffee with my free birthday treat! Got myself a hand twisted lemon pie. I have been a regular customer since CB's opening (around 2008?). Sirak has been an excellent manager and I always appreciate getting my orders on-time and correctly made. My daughter Katrina worked for CB from 2017-2020 (covid furlough), since then she found another job. I live next door to CB. I recently felt comfortable to order food from CB but the staff keeps forgetting my online orders that i paid for already or telling me "WE BEEN BUSY", happened 2-3 times. I ordered my food online today 1 hour ahead so i can take the food for my lunch at work. WHEN I GOT THERE, THEY TOLD ME, SORRY WE WERE BUSY!!! I told the guy i want my money back and left without my food. If the guy has not refunded me, i will file a dispute with my credit card for nonservice. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO CB AGAIN!!
