We just bought a loaf of bread, and noticed the date was 11/20/25. That makes it almost 2 months old. When I called the bakery to ask about that, they said they freeze the loaves every night. Oof. I'm not sure if it's just this location, but I hope that's all; I used to adore Corner Bakery! A couple things sealed the deal that I may not continue visiting CB... this location for one (filthy!) and in general for another. This location is really, REALLY dirty. Like, no one moves chairs / tables to vacuum. No one wipes down walls near tables/booths, no one vacuums out booths (see pic). In general, the 2 top booth we sat in had a sour smell. The soda fountain (where you get water) looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a year or more with sticky residue and gunk. (We didn't get soda, but did get water out of the Lemonade spigot, sketchy). I'm really sad that discontinued their DC Chicken Salad completely. The menu (while it looks trendy) now has items that would appear in a cost-saving picnic basket; lunch meat sandwiches and paninis, soups (sous vide from a bag, as I witnessed), easy leafy salads, bags of chips. Essentially all cheap to stock, and longer lasting than something like a chicken salad, apparently. I imagine those many who got their orders to-go will still be finding this location palatable... but dine in at your own risk. read more

Although I have eaten at other Corner Bakery locations for lunch, this was my first breakfast. The patio door had no signage, but the interior door stated masks were required. Not an issue but I had to return to my car to get one. I immediately removed it when I entered and saw NO EMPLOYEE wearing one. I ordered the Pancakes , Bacon & Eggs combo. I also got coffee. Fortunately, I drink the caffeinated stuff because they had run out of decaf. When I got a refill, they had run out of half & half but had replenished the decaf. The food was deceptive. Upon initial observation, it appeared the thin pancakes were all one-sized. Upon closer look, I had actually received two medium-sized and two small-sized pancakes. So it equated to about three pancakes instead of the four as described. The pancakes did soak up the syrup to be Vanilla Maple-flavored pancakes, but I am skeptical if the concoction actually contains real maple syrup. The bacon were very crispy which others may prefer but I do not. As for the eggs, they were slightly overcooked. read more

I did a catering order of the 16 half sandwiches for my baby shower and they were a hit!! The side could be chips or Caesar salad and I'm so glad I went with the caesar. I probably ate more salad and sandwiches than anyone else LOL!! I had about 30 people attend and I cut each sandwich in half (making 32 half sandwiches) you can see from the picture how huge they are!! I was SO pleasantly surprised to see the size. I had a few special instructions and whoever made my order followed them PERFECTLY!! The price was on par and I would 100% order the 16 half sandwiches again for any event I'm wanting finger foods at. OK- I am a long time fan of Corner bakery! I love the Panni's, the great salads and of course the deserts. But I recently visited this one in the Villages and cannot get past the bad service and dirty tables. It was in the afternoon and they had a reasonable crowd of people coming in. But the tables and booths were half full with dirty dishes and food from past customers. while I understand they cannot clean each table after a customer leaves - i counted 14 tables full of dishes and not cleaned! I watched people come in and look around disgusted that there were not clean tables for over 30 minutes. As I finished my BBLT i went up to the counter and asked to speak with the manager. A young woman came out and I told her that there were a lot of dirty tables and the the staff did not seem to notice. She waved her hand and said no big deal - it was shift change and they were busy. I left and do NOT plan to go back to sit in a restaurant looking at dirty tables and being told by the manager it is no big deal. Food was good - the ambience was disgusting! read more

Don't order a baguette to go. It won't be wrapped. It will be cut in half so it gets dry and hard inside before you get home. Next time ask if the customer wants it whole. Very unsanitary and rude person at checkout. Also, went there before they closed the night before this - a Friday night. All of the employees were standing around the counter on phones doing nothing. I placed a catering order (at closing) the night before I needed lunch for 10. The mgr Emily was so helpful & in fact said they typically shut off catering orders at close; yet because I didn't have confirmation of my meeting I couldn't order yet. So told me she'd keep it open so once I got confirmation I could order. I so appreciate her working with me & I was able to pick up the next morning. I was a bit concerned about ordering the healthy grain salad and I couldn't quite understand what I was going to get. (& there wasn't a picture online). It was not only beautiful, It was delicious, I've always appreciated they have everything packed up nicely, plates, cups, napkins etc. I will definitely use for more events in the future & can recommend them. They finally stopped making their bacon so greasy it was a challenge to eat. They can make it dry and crispy now if you ask. Now, if I can just get a decent cup of coffee here. It's always cold or warm. Too strong and bitter. All the things I don't want in coffee. Never fails either. No matter when I go, terrible, warm coffee. We stopped to get a cappuccino and a caramel machiato and a pastrie around 530 pm. We wanted to dine in and enjoy, so I asked for the coffee in ceramic cups. The reply: We don't have any ( though there were dozens on display). When they brought the coffee and warm pastries to the table they used plastic takeout boxes so I asked for plates. Both coffees where as if they were poured out of the same vat. No flavor - no foam - worst cappuccino and machiatto of our lives. Finally my my creme strawberry croissant looked like it had been run over by a truck and was heated in a microwave so the pastry turned into rubber!!! A whataburger apple pie is like a gourmet pastry compared to what they serve here. The little slice of hell cafe bill was over $15 for a dismal experience and the worst coffee and pastries of my life! Avoid like the plague. read more

Went to this location about 8:30 and when we were about to order the young lady said we can make you a salad. I didn't want a salad but that was all she would serve us. I asked if they were out of food, she said no, they had already shut down their kitchen. I asked if they were open until 9 and she said yes, they just didn't offer most f the items on their menu. I asked where does it say that and she said I came in at 8:30. Have been wanting to try this place out and after signing up for their mailing list and receiving a welcome coupon I did. I'm excited to say I'll be back again. I've received two coupons now, both for a free sweet treat (no purchase necessary) in my email. One for signing up and another for my birthday! I used my coupon towards a free chocolate Bundt cake. It had just the right amount of chocolate icing so it wasn't overly sweet. The cake was perfect and so moist. I will be using my second coupon for another! I didn't realize until stepping inside how extensive the menu was or how nice it was. There is a counter at the front to place a quick order or grab a dessert and coffee as well as a full sit down area. Warning to customers, I injured my knee cap today 03/10/22 at 11:35 am on the unused refrigeration cabinet by the register. The unit is black, it has no products to draw you eye down and the unit is not lit like the other unit. You can see in the second picture how far the unit jets out from the counter. I was in so much pain, I immediately told the manager who took my order as I could not walk way at that time from the pain. He was not interest in my complaint and said the unit has always been there. That may be but I have not been there in years, its black, dark and no product to identify it. He should have taken an accident report as I will likely be going to my doctors in the morning to see if I have patella fracture. It is interesting that the laminate on that particular corner is missing. read more

Love the CHOOSE TWO! I almost always get the exact same thing when I eat here. My reason - if you already know what is perfection, why change it?! My choice is almost always the Choose Two - Chicken Pomodori Panini with the Harvest Salad. Oh my goodness! The panini is perfectly done every time at this location! Check your online order CAREFULLY! This location screws up every order we've ever placed. We get shorted something every single time. One time it's a salad, next time it's chips, etc. I don't know if they do this on purpose, because they know by the time you figure out that you've been cheated, you're home or too far away to go back and do anything about it. Ice for your drinks is from a bucket by the side of the counter where every customer reaches in with their hands to get ice. For a $20 soup and salad I would have liked a fork and napkin but there was none to be found after the server brought my meal. I had to get up and ask for it. Then when I went to the restroom, there wasn't any soap or paper towels to wash my hands with. I had to once again ask the manager for it (who was on his phone). This was at 3 PM with only 1 other patron in the restaurant. I would expect better than this for Highland Village especially with the competition of the Cheesecake Factory coming in. We went here this afternoon at around 1:00 and ordered an uptown turkey sandwich and asked for a pickle. When we arrived home there was only 1/2 a sandwich and no pickle. We actually drove back and told them we didn't get our whole sandwich and that the pickle was missing as well. They made us pay for a whole new sandwich and STILL didn't pack our pickle. First off, the potatoes weren't cook all the way. They had been crunchy, which is not how breakfast potatoes should be cooked. The toast was not even toast, but slightly warmed bread, and was unbuttered with no options for butter anywhere. Toast should not be wiggly. The bacon looked like it had been left out for days, and the eggs were watery. The bread on display was covered in a mold when ordering, which should have been a red flag. The only thing pleasant was the ice tea and coffee. I normally never leave yelp reviews but never have I been more disappointed in a place. I have always liked this. They have gotten more fast foodie with their chips in bags and such but that honestly is fine with me. Makes it more efficient though puts it lower than a Panera experience. The prices are par with Jimmy Johns but obviously way more options than just sandwiches and salads. The employees are usually pretty young high school or college age which can sometimes be good or bad. They can be less professional but always sweet and helpful. Got a free lemonade on this trip for having a long wait and coming in sweating like a pig. Food feels worth coming out for which is hard to find in a sandwich place for me. Get there early for baked goods because come late afternoon a lot of the good stuff is gone. By evening the pastry cart is all but empty. read more

Came in for an order to go. Staff not friendly at all. Ordered a chicken pesto sandwich with chips. Added on a cup of soup and verified still would get the chips. Got home and did not receive the chips. The chicken pesto sandwich did not have any pesto sauce therefore was dry and tasteless. This is the second time this same scenario happened. read more

My order was ready quickly, which was nice at the time but now I see that it should have been a red flag that my order would be incorrect. This restaurant is 1 mile from my home. My spouse & I dine there quite often. I cannot understand the negative reviews! The restaurant IS CLEAN & the service IS EXCELLENT. Their Chai Latte hot tea is the best ... but I do have them pump in less syrup, & my spouse proclaims their pancakes to be "the best" he's ever had ... always light & fluffy!! One of my favorite upscale sandwich places. My son and I were looking for somewhere to eat on a Friday night and already left two local restaurants due to the wait. Strolled in here and no wait. The staff was very friendly for being mostly teenagers behind the counter. I had to twist my teenage sons arm to eat here because it wasn't his usual pick. I ordered the half chicken salad sandwich and half Cesar salad combo. He ordered a tuna sandwich. We sat down and they had our order delivered in 5 minutes. Mine was just as good as I've remembered. The Cesar was fresh and nice size portion for being half size. My chicken salad sandwich was great! Fresh and a great sized portion. My son devoured his and enjoyed it. I don't think I can recall a bad experience at a Corner Bakery ever! The tables were all clean and just a comfortable place to come that gives you a relaxed environment and great food! read more
