I've been to Walk-On's more times this week than I care to admit (no regrets), and there's one big…read morereason why: Jaya. She is, hands down, one of the best bartenders I've ever had the pleasure of learning from and being served by. Her knowledge of the menu -- from cocktails to cajun classics -- is impressive. Ask her for a recommendation based on what you're craving, and she won't just point to a drink; she'll walk you through flavor profiles, ingredients, and even suggest a food pairing that'll make your taste buds sing. But here's the thing -- it's not just her expertise. Jaya has that rare gift of making every person at the bar feel like a regular. Friendly, attentive, and always on top of her craft, she remembers your name, your usual, and somehow exactly when you need a fresh pour or a little conversation. And yes, the food keeps me coming back too. The blackened shrimp, the loaded fries, the burgers -- all consistently hot, fresh, and delicious. But Jaya elevates the whole experience from "great meal" to "my favorite place to be." Do yourself a favor: sit at her bar, let her guide you through the menu, and enjoy being served by someone who truly loves what she does. Walk-On's is lucky to have her -- and so are we.

The hours online said they are open til 10:30, which I checked because I don't like dining right before closing. I found out once we got there that their hours changed til 9:30. Either way, my family got there well before 8 and the food quality was poor , multiple items dried out & lack of flavor!! The hibachi grill area shut down for 8:30 (yes an hour before closing). I addressed it with the manager and she literally said " the grill closes early because they have to clean everything... she thought everyone knew that" I asked her " Was there a sign stating this?... because as a professional I would not be mean about that if it did have a sign stating that." So there were no signs and no one came verbally tell us the grill would be closing soon. The manager also mentioned the change in hours of operation was listed on the door. Our server wasn't the best and honestly didn't deserve a tip , but I showed grace.

YOU NEED TO EAT HERE!…read more Party of 7, and EVERYONE was happy with their orders. Fantastic. Thinking of making the hour drive just to come back again on our trip. Drink: French greyhound. Perfectly balanced and super yummy Appetizers: fried green tomatoes and duck kebabs. Dinners: flatbread margarita, Korean rice bowl (the days special), pork belly and grits, skirt steak. I mean seriously, not only was the main protein of the meal good, every component side, garnish, sauce, was fab. We had already done two "traditional" Cajun /creole meals and were ready for a fresh break and 531 didn't disappoint. Don't let "cafe" make you think it's any less of a great spot. Also got to talk with the owner which was awesome and quaint.

Everything we've tried has been delicious -- the grits & grillades, sober fries, crab omelet, and bread board have all been fantastic. You really can't go wrong! I do have one little suggestion, though: the music! We were there this morning and the techno/rave-style music just didn't seem to fit the atmosphere or the amazing food. I would love to see the playlist lean more toward something that complements the restaurant -- Bobby "Blue" Bland, Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, and that kind of laid-back, timeless music. Honestly, anything but the rave/techno vibe would be a huge improvement in my opinion! The food and service are too good not to give five stars, and we'll definitely be back. Just hoping for a little more soul in the soundtrack next time!
