YOU NEED TO EAT HERE! Party of 7, and EVERYONE was happy with their orders. Fantastic. Thinking of making the hour drive just to come back again on our trip. Drink: French greyhound. Perfectly balanced and super yummy Appetizers: fried green tomatoes and duck kebabs. Dinners: flatbread margarita, Korean rice bowl (the days special), pork belly and grits, skirt steak. I mean seriously, not only was the main protein of the meal good, every component side, garnish, sauce, was fab. We had already done two "traditional" Cajun /creole meals and were ready for a fresh break and 531 didn't disappoint. Don't let "cafe" make you think it's any less of a great spot. Also got to talk with the owner which was awesome and quaint. read more

I have probably eaten here 20 times now - guess it's time for a review. I have never ever eaten anything here I haven't enjoyed. The salads are huge - pro tip- ask them to chop it up for you, much easier to eat. Burgers are phenomenal as is the duck empanadas, the fried green tomatoes, and I love to try the daily specials. Last week, I walked into this establishment to pick up my order. As I approached the register the girl there never made eye contact with me nor did she greet me. She just ignored me. The guy on the register next to her did the same. So I stood there about 5 minutes or so; finally I was approached by a lady who was coming from the kitchen (I'm sure she could see that I was annoyed) she asked me if someone was assisting me. I said no, "No, no one was assistind me. I have been ignored since I walked in door." She apologized and asked how she could assist me. I received my order and promptly left. This was my 2nd visit to this restaurant; my first visit wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best. Therefore, I decided to give it another try. I will not be going back. They really need to work on their poor customer service. read more

Simply the best meal I have had in all of Louisiana. I'm in town working for FEMA, and I've I'm trying to hit all the restaurants in Houma. This place is amazing. Dinner salad, perfect size: perfect blue cheese salad dressing, perfect ingredients. Shrimp with fried green tomatoes: perfect combination. I could have eaten five of these for a meal. Margherita flatbread: I added green olives. It would have been amazing without them, but the green olives took it to the next level. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Suuuch a cute place! The food and drinks are well-priced, portions are satisfying. They have packed many tables inside the space, but the decorating style makes it actually feel really inviting. Hands down the best little cafe in Houma! Fantastic food with great service in a comfortable, cute, clean, and friendly ambiance. It's hard to say which dish I enjoy most, but the shrimp and grits are really uniquely delicious and numerous appetizers are out of this world. This little cafe can compete with all they got in New Orleans when comparing cuisine dollar-for-dollar. I'm so grateful for this gem in Houma! read more

531 Liberty Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants in Houma. I've been here multiple times and never had a bad experience. If you want a good burger, I highly recommend this place. Their burgers almost melt in your mouth they're so delicious. But if burgers aren't your thing, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They also have different specials every day which keeps the menu new and exciting. And so far I've loved every special that I've tried. This is also a good place to get a drink after work. They have a great selection of craft beers and cocktails. This place is a hidden gem in Houma. Seriously, do yourself a favor and give it a try. You won't regret it. read more

The ladyfriend and I tried this place out for dinner one night because we went to a nearby brewpub that had a long wait. 531 Liberty Café was not very busy and I was somewhat surprised until they told me they were just starting to do dinner after only doing lunch for a long time. They have a menu that is heavy on sandwiches (primarily because of their strong lunch crowd) but for dinner they have more gourmet items like a smoked oyster pasta, grilled tuna, a pork steak, dunk wings and more. Saying all of that and I get a steak quesadilla. Sounds common like but it was slices of rib-eye, blue cheese, picked red onions, tomatoes and a balsamic drizzle on top. Quite good. It also came with a little jar of pickled veggies. These were amazing. I never heard of pickled broccoli but it works. They also make great cocktails as I had a perfectly made Sazerac that was as good as any in the city. So stop in and give them a chance at dinner and you wont be disappointed. read more

Food was excellent as always, this was my second time this week. Craft fees style food is there thing, the chef at this place is really creative and it's a place like no other in This small town. He has some great sandwich options, Paninis, wraps, fresh salads, burgers and nightly dinner specials just to name a few thiNgs on the menu. Today me and my fiancé enjoyed the tomatoe basil panini and an order of the stone ground corn grits and the Thai wrap grilled shrimp wrap. Great portions great service I'll def be back here again who knows maybe one more time this week! read more

Looked for something to eat to wrap up a quick Houma and was thrilled to find 531 Liberty Cafe. It is a cute little place off the beaten track with lots of great options. I love that they get local ingredients and think about healthier choices. (I didn't go for the healthiest options though... ;) and the bacon jam burger is so delicious- it's not just a "normal" burger- it's got layers of flavor. I will definitely go back if I get a chance to head back to Houma. Thanks so much for great service too! read more

This restaurant is an absolute gem. The owner and waitstaff are very personable, the service is prompt, the menu is constantly changing, and the food is fresh and delicious. I travel into Houma monthly for work and I eat at this restaurant multiple times each trip. I've had about the entire menu at this point and none of it disappoints. Awesome Shrimp BLT salad! Every bite had shrimp and I added dried cranberries, which made it better. We found this cute restaurant on yelp and the food was delicious! Cassie our waiter was great! So, Yoga to me was such a stretch (no pun intended this time) but after my first few classes (2-3 tops) I was completely hooked and they could never be rid of me! i practiced religiously, with no "goal" in sight, just a "this feels right"' so go with it feeling. Lol love this woman! I told her my situation and the only thing "in the way" was unsteady finances. She said "well, have you applied for our tuition program?" It helped EXPONENTIALLY and I was able to complete YTT and have been an instructor of all things that center your focus on slowing down, teach what you need right? We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.

We had seen Cafe Dominique driving by a few times downtown so we decided to have dinner there and are so glad that we did. Make no mistake; this place is not a casual dining place and not like any other place in Houma. No kids menu, no plastic utensils (or even cheap aluminum ones!), starched linen and beautiful table settings. It is pricey but worth it. The menu featured numerous upscale American dishes; rib eye steaks, crab ravioli, osso bucco, roasted chicken and all were delicious. We started with an appetizer of a local goat cheese encrusted with pistachios and served warm that was magnificent! We had more than enough for the both of us and the kids even ate some of it. My wife had the rib eye that was cooked to perfection and served with grilled asparagus and roasted potatoes. Steak was cooked a perfect medium rare and the grilled asparagus was out of this world; tender and tasty. I went with the Osso Bucco (special for the evening; they have specials each night) which was really delicious; tender and with a great tasting sauce. I was a little disappointed with the risotto that accompanied it but it was served with some of the great tasting asparagus as well so all in all, a solid dinner. The cafe is a little deceiving size-wise from the outside; looks small but once inside you can see about 3-4 different seating areas and also has a good size bar. Serve a wide variety of wines by the glass and beer by the bottle. Once the weather cools down, the outside patio will be in full swing! All in all a delightful dinner and a great find. Definitely more expensive than any other place you'll find in Houma but if tired of Copelands and the other chain restaurants, you'll be happy to eat at Cafe Dominique.
