onion rings in a styrofoam container
    Kim W.

Homemade "hand battered" onion rings need A Lot More Practice!! Not cooked long enough and definitely need to let the grease drain before you dump into a container without any air holes! 40 bucks for just 2 onion rings, 2 burgers and 2 sprites! You would think they would try a little more... Not even worth 20 bucks if you ask me. Wasted there money on a HUGE BILLBOARD LOL! That's another restaurants onion rings on that billboard! The last pic is them on paper towels trying to get some of the grease off. The batter doesn't even stay on the onions.

My order was promptly taken and I didn't wait but two minutes for my food--pretty impressive! I ordered the Off the Hook salad and added shrimp. I thought the price to add a handful of grilled shrimp was too much. While the salad was good, there was nothing amazing. The blackened rank dressing was a nice addition to the salad. The red beans are labeled as creamy and there was nothing creamy about them! I was very disappointed in the beans. They had a strong plastic smell and taste. I do not recommend the beans. I would try Off the Hook again but order something different.

Pretty good po boys and fried cat fish platters. Nice people working at the register. Clean tables makes me happy all that time. See you soon.

its a drive thru restaurant but cleaner, the service is quicker than talking back to your mom and getting slapped, I ordered Bon Temp cheeseburger combo with Raspberry Lemonade, RL was really sweet but good , the fries were crispy , the cheeseburger burger was pretty good, I think the grilled onions compliment the burgers ' taste . The food prices are reasonable . That burger was off the hook

Expectations vs reality. Not worth $20.
    Daniela J.

Expectations vs reality Not worth $20. I asked how big the $20 Beaucoup platter would be and they emphasized it being big and enough for 2 people. Ha. It less than half of the photo advertised. I should have asked for a refund when I saw it. Food was lackluster and unfulfilling. I was so excited to finally try this place. Disappointing.

I am a hopeless food snob and an even worse gumbo critic. Been traveling to this area on business from Texas for nearly 30 years. My first visit here, just out of curiosity when I saw how busy they were. The shrimp po boy was perfect. As good as I've ever had, but not a large portion. The chicken and sausage gumbo was outstanding and easily on par with the 'gold standard' C&SG at Bon Creole Lunch Counter in New Iberia. It was perfect in every way; the sausage nearly melted in my mouth. Super quick service. Wow.

ok, so to start things off, i didn't go inside and look at the place, i just did pickup, but the outside is pretty cool. as soon as i got there, they took my order, it was great, it was fast. i know the slogan is "Real Cajun Real Fast" but it wasn't fast at all. thank goodness i wasn't in a rush to go anywhere. it took a while for them to serve the guy in front of us and it took them like 3 minutes longer for me. it was almost like none of the food was ready made. although i loved that it was nice and hot when we got it. as always, the food SLAPPED. i got a kids meal jumbo tender meal. it came with, obviously, 2 big tenders, 2 hush puppies, and fries. the fries were so seasoned and perfected. me personally, i like sweet cornbread tasting hush puppies. these were salty. not sure if it was because of the fries or not considering they were under the fries and tenders, but it started salty and became sweet. still not quite sure how i feel about that. the tenders were very very savory and almost perfect. i feel like every time i come here, they've changed the recipe, on the same line, i feel like every time i go, the tenders just get spicier and spicier. it's not like an overwhelming spicy, but for a kids meal chicken tender, it was very spicy. i feel like most kids wouldn't finish it. even with the sauce or cooled down it's pretty spicy. i tried a lot to see if the spice level would go down. it never did. i do think that's one thing they could improve on. other than that though i think it's a pretty nice place.

Shrimp and catfish with red beans and rice. Delicious!

Best fast food I've ever had! We had the shrimp and catfish basket. It was priced at $13.99 and came with Crispy fries, hush puppies, and a drink. Huge portions and great taste. We also got the combo add on and got an extra drink andred beans and rice for $2.49 extra. I was blown away by the food, not just because it was fast food but because it was delicious! Prices were very reasonable. If in Louisiana give this place a visit.

I have no complaints here. I've always had hot fresh food. Never had too long of a wait. My food was always the way I wanted it.

The people waiting behind us went to the bar and they sat them. So we did the same. Waited a long time finally got a drink order in 30-45 min. later. 2 hr. 45 min. later still no food. The waiter told us they can box our food to take home!Really!!! We were pretty livid by that point. Well they brought our food right after and it was cold. Took couple bites, left the rest and went home hungry. Thanks for ruining our night.

Title: A Time Capsule of Culinary Confusion--Now with Extra Disappointment…read moreWalking into this restaurant felt like stepping into a museum exhibit titled "The 1960s: Mold Edition." The décor hasn't been updated since bell-bottoms were in style, and the smell of old mold was so strong I half expected to see spores on the menu. Every chair had a gray smudge where countless hands have pushed off over the decades--think of it as their version of "patina," but less charming. I understand the original owner, Melvin, has passed away, and since his children have taken over, the standards have apparently gone the way of rotary phones. Appetizers: The Oysters Bienville were a mystery--mainly because I'm not sure an oyster was involved in their creation. The mixture was cold, flavorless, and could have doubled as wallpaper paste. Next came the honey-glazed pork belly, which was 90% fat and topped with what tasted like microwaved Sweet Baby Ray's mixed with honey. If you're into culinary plot twists, this was one. Salad & Soup: The Melvin's Salad was decent--nothing to write home about, but at least it didn't fight back. The shrimp corn soup was also passable, though I had to call in reinforcements (Tabasco) to give it a pulse. Entrées: The hamburger with onion gravy? Let's just say McCormick's gravy mix would have been an upgrade. The meat fell apart like my willpower at a dessert buffet. Then came the Chicken Francaise, which is supposed to be a delicate, lemon-butter masterpiece. What arrived looked like a chicken breast that had been seasoned in a lawnmower bag and required a samurai sword to cut. Chewy doesn't even begin to cover it. Sides: The creamed spinach was the grand finale--a dish so confusing it deserves its own Netflix documentary. The top layer looked like someone attacked it with a blowtorch set to "industrial," and the watery spinach beneath had me scanning for koi fish. Verdict: If you're nostalgic for the '60s and enjoy culinary surprises (the kind that make you question your life choices), this is your spot. Otherwise, bring a snack for the ride home.

What a delightful find!!…read more My wife's family is from Houma and if you are from the area, you know that the town is overrun with chain restaurants. We had seen Cafe Dominique driving by a few times downtown so we decided to have dinner there and are so glad that we did. Make no mistake; this place is not a casual dining place and not like any other place in Houma. No kids menu, no plastic utensils (or even cheap aluminum ones!), starched linen and beautiful table settings. It is pricey but worth it. The menu featured numerous upscale American dishes; rib eye steaks, crab ravioli, osso bucco, roasted chicken and all were delicious. We started with an appetizer of a local goat cheese encrusted with pistachios and served warm that was magnificent! We had more than enough for the both of us and the kids even ate some of it. My wife had the rib eye that was cooked to perfection and served with grilled asparagus and roasted potatoes. Steak was cooked a perfect medium rare and the grilled asparagus was out of this world; tender and tasty. I went with the Osso Bucco (special for the evening; they have specials each night) which was really delicious; tender and with a great tasting sauce. I was a little disappointed with the risotto that accompanied it but it was served with some of the great tasting asparagus as well so all in all, a solid dinner. The cafe is a little deceiving size-wise from the outside; looks small but once inside you can see about 3-4 different seating areas and also has a good size bar. Serve a wide variety of wines by the glass and beer by the bottle. Once the weather cools down, the outside patio will be in full swing! All in all a delightful dinner and a great find. Definitely more expensive than any other place you'll find in Houma but if tired of Copelands and the other chain restaurants, you'll be happy to eat at Cafe Dominique.
