I played the north course in April 2022. I mention the date because maybe in a year or two this will be an OK golf course. But as it is now, this course is still under construction, only you're charged $50 for the privilege of playing the front 9. So it's just the sorts of things you'd expect. Signs aren't there, and it wasn't always clear where the hole was. The road for the carts was unpaved and even unfinished, so you'd walk over rough piles of dirt on your way over. Some of the bunkers were absurd, so steep as to be totally inescapable, and are still obvious works in progress. The trees were cut down last year, and there's still big stacks of logs off to the side of the course. The greens varied in quality from pretty good to pretty bad. Two stars because you can still get a game going. While I didn't think the holes were that great, I did like that the course is a pretty good distance for a 9. There's literally dozens of better courses in the Bay Area, though. read more

$90 greens fees on a Wednesday afternoon. No marshal to control the pace of play on this mediocre track. Course was in decent but when you start with a mid-week $90 fee, you expect almost pristine conditions. At the turn I order a simply hotdog cut in half and grilled well done. After THREE (3) attempts by the cook "Carlos" - I left with a Luke warm barely grilled $8 hotdog. Y'all gotta do better. Please!!!! read more

For as much as it costs to play the South Course, I didn't expect to wait on every hole and end up with a 5-hour round.

A group of buddies and I wanted to golf the par 3 this past Saturday. When we got there, the gentleman was extremely rude. You said that we all needed our own bag of clubs (which I've never heard of). I don't get that rule. We planned on all bringing out clubs and using 1 bag since we don't need more than a few clubs each. The weird part is that he locked the door behind us and shut the window. We literally couldn't leave. I am not sure how legal that is but whatever. I am going to leave his name out as I don't think that is fair to him. We showed up the next day and didn't have any problems. Didn't get scolded for everyone needing their own bag, super easy check in. Another positive is the young man cleaning the carts was super friendly and knowledgeable about the course. I believe his name was Ben. read more

We were looking for an executive course or just a pitch-n-putt course and ended up here. There is a full 18 hole course, but we opted for the short course. On the short course, it's a little difficult to find the next tee box but..just watch the direction the group in front of goes. The really neat thing about this course is that you feel like you're on the course all by yourself! The way they lay it out with small hills keeps everyone else out of sight. For a small course, there are still tree, bunkers, and water to contend with...which makes it really fun! No objections to playing the short course here again in the future. read more

I recently played the South course and was pleased with course conditions. The staff is usually friendly. Unfortunately my group encountered a course marshal who behaved inappropriately. Just played the redesigned South Course and had a great time. Played on a Saturday and made the turn in under 2 hours so the pace was good. Challenging yet forgiving course with lots of bunkers. The greens are super fast and some of the pin positions were questionable. A few were right on the crest of a mound which made it difficult to make even a 1 foot putt. The feel is similar to Bayland Golf Links in Palo Alto, which is one of my favorite courses. Can't wait to play this course again. read more

This track is a very mixed bag. Played August 31, 2021. When they opened this redesigned course a few years back, it was amazing. Challenging but fair, and in great condition. Sadly, the condition has gone downhill. Tee boxes are getting ragged, some fairways have large dirt splotches, greens have sporadic areas of disease areas or something. Still it's a great design and the holes are interesting. Be careful if you take a cart, as the way-too-steep profile of fairway entry can be dangerous to your health. There are potholes everywhere on the cart path, an easy fix with some gravel, but they don't do it. Let's hope they turn the condition around. It could be one of the Bay Area's best, but it's going in the wrong direction for now. PS: The golf course staff was nice, which is always a good thing. read more

Played the South Course with my dad on Father's Day and had a blast. I really enjoyed the layout and it was in fantastic condition. I'd recommend and would play again. The one downside was the middle aged gentleman running the Pro Shop that afternoon was super rude and had HORRIBLE customer service. He had a terrible attitude when he brought us out a new cart when the GPS froze on hole 4 and then again when I bought two LinkSoul shirts after the round. I almost said screw buying the shirts because he was such a jerk when checking out. I'd probably go back to golf but Corica needs to look at how this guy is treating their customers. Horrible reflection of their otherwise cool facility. read more

South Course redesign. I love it. I've played this course for the sixth time today. This is an interesting, easy-to-walk, golfer-friendly course. By golfer-friendly I mean the areas around greens are usually cut low, easy to chip. You are not likely to lose many golf balls on this course. There are a few tight holes but for the most part the course allow for errant shots and is not overly demanding. That's coming from a 20-handicapper known to spray a few shots now and then. The course is in great shape. I don't know what type grass is used on the fairways but it's VERY consistent, tough, and always gives to a great lie. In spite of the course being relatively flat, the course offers a wide variety of hole layouts. The greens are beautiful. Roll true. However... one complaint i that the greens have too many subtle breaks. It's literally difficult to find a 10foot straight putt anywhere on the course. This golfer finds them very difficult to read. My other complaint is the with the sand in the bunkers. It's usually wet, compact and "thin". If you are used to thick fluffy what sand then you will certainly be disappointed. Having said all that, I live in Oakland (which with a $180 year membership gives me $30 round during the week) and have been playing golf in the Bay Area for 25 years. I play with an NCGA Associate Member club which affords me the opportunity to play lots of courses. I've played over 100 different courses in the past 25 years including many of the best in CA. There is no doubt in my mind Corica Park South is one of the better munis is the state. I look forward to my next round. UPDATE: The course super had better slow down the greens and stop putting the holes in EXTREMELY difficult places. The course SUPPOSEDLY has a 119 slope from the white tees. That's absurd given to speed and difficulty of the greens in my opinion. It's a great course but they can (and often do) make it much too difficult to putt. I've got a friend that is a long time avid golfer and he now refuses to play the course due to the undulating fast greens. No fun. read more

Corica Park is fantastic! I had my husband's milestone birthday golf outing here and everything went so smoothly! The course event coordinator, Brett, was fantastic to work with - allowed us to make reservations for a large group ahead of time, made custom signs on all of our golf carts, set-up closest to the pin games on all the par 3s, and overall made the day so easy and fun! The course is in great shape, was fun for everyone in our group at different skill levels, the snack carts were well stocked and stopped by our group multiple times on our round, and the other people on the course were super friendly too! We had lunch on site beforehand/happy hour with apps afterward at Jim's on the Course and Tim/Dimitri/all the staff at Jim's were fantastic too. Everyone was so friendly, accommodating, and provided the most phenomenal service to our group. What a great way to have a covid safe celebration! To be honest, I was pretty stressed to try and plan a covid safe milestone birthday but Corica/Jim's knocked it out of the park. I cant thank you all enough!! read more

Probably one of the only driving ranges in the area that block off every other stall. Instead of 6 feet of social distancing between stalls, they prefer to give everyone 12 feet of space, which causes long wait times for a driving range stall during peak times. read more

Second visit, got to 5th hole and there was a groundskeeper mowing the green, I waited and after a couple of minutes he was on the right side so I launched my ball to the left side(which is about 15 ish yard, got to the green and this person reprimanded me of not hitting the ball when he's on the green! Everywhere I've golf before groundskeeper WILL stop what they're doing and wave golfers to hit, after all the reason they have their job is because we're playing and paying. Played the south course. As a someone that hasnt played for nearly a decade i had a great time. The course was well kept and the carts was unlike others i seen before with a bright screen laying out the course. Planned on playing 18 but we had a 4:20 appt and only got to 13... Nonetheless, i needed to buy a glove and the gentleman at checkout was nice. When we began the course we checked in with a older joker-type guy... He was cool too. No issues. The range was sweet and the putting green is legit. Can't wait to play again. read more

My partner and I really enjoyed this course. The staff was very friendly. The course is well-maintained, tee boxes and greens included. A very interesting course, as it mixes an Australian sandbelt layout with your more traditional English greens (very difficult, fast, did not have a straight putt the entire day). Will be even better once they finish the north course. There was a little bit of noise pollution with the construction on the back 9, but not horrible. We really enjoyed their GPS on their golf carts as well. read more

South Course redesign... bunkers, bunkers, and more bunkers... coupled with very undulating greens and areas of the same ball eating/club gabbing grass that Poppy Ridge ripped out in order to improve playing time. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape and greens rolled true. Despite the tee times being 10 minutes apart, we were on the heels of the group in front of us from the 3rd hole and had to wait for every tee/fairway/approach shot for the remainder of the round. Not a single Marshall/Player Assistants to move players along in sight for the entire round. When you have that many bunkers, you really should have people roaming the course to assist with bunker raking to keep things moving. $85 Walking on a Friday at 10:30. Warning: rates for non-resident varies from $75-95 without cart, depending on DEMAND, Day, and Time. In other words there is no real fixed pricing for non-residents. They do offer an NCGA discount. Which apparently gets you to the lower end of the scale. It does not move the range below $75 at any time. Renovated clubhouse that is trying way too hard to be urban hipster complete with two fire pits on the patio. Not sure what city/county risk manager thought it would be a good idea to put in fire pits where alcohol is served and/or children may be around. But even more ridiculous, are they even going to be open late for them to be actually seen in all their glory? Seems like a total waste of funds to construct and maintain. Will I go back, not likely. Course condition: 4 stars, because the cart paths are gravel and not designed well for those that walk the course. Pace of Play: 1 Star Service in clubhouse: 5 Star Service in restaurant/bar: 5 Star after the round, 3 Star at the turn, because people making the turn are not prioritized to keep play moving. Quality of food/Drink: 5 Star - Highly recommend the Chicken Nachos Played in July 2018. This is for the Par 3 course. 1. Plays really slow! The have foursomes going out every 9 minutes...which doesn't work on this course. We spent more time waiting in the tee box than playing. 2 hours to complete. 2. Tee mats are in horrible shape. 3. Most of the holes are extremely short ( less than 120 yards.) There are a lot of people who start playing golf because of this course. It's not that challenging of a course and it's fairly priced. Yet, it delivers obstacles that sometimes make the game frustratingly loved. Water comes to play a lot here and lost balls...a lot of lost balls. Maybe that's why I like this place? I find a lot of golf balls... My Buddy Justin and I just played a round at the Jack Clark course yesterday, and considering I had quit golf for over a year, I did quite well. Excessive drinking and fatigue took its toll on me though and I soon faded into nothingness. So much for breaking 90! You can get great deals on-line for this course with cart. Check out golfnow.com. My buddy and I paid only $25/pp with cart...a great deal! Alameda Chuck Corica has two 18-hole courses. The Earl Fry course is a bit more challenging and should not be played by novices in my opinion. I always see a lot of people getting frustrated with this course and I wonder why they just didn't play the simpler Jack Clark course instead. Anyhow, at least they're playing. If you can, I hope you play this course because they need your help. They need golfers. I often hear about the city closing it down. I hope it will never be! If that ever happens a lot of people would lose a valuable tool in developing necessary skills in golf and in life. read more

This is my go-to driving range spot every time the need to release angst/stress arises. It's been ages since I've been... so yesterday a friend and I decided to just let it go... literally! Large bucket of balls were $9 so we ended up getting 4 buckets for the both us (yah, we swung until our arms couldn't do it anymore...) There's never a wait for a range stall and each stalls are wide enough to be able to have a private conversation in between each swing... that was much needed when you're playing catch up with each other. We'll probably start hitting some balls more often now... since the friend is back in town and I haven't been at the shooting range in ages. Oh and I suck at it! This review is for their newly renovated South Course. I played it on opening weekend (6/24/18). We played at twilight for $55 for non-Alameda resident--walking (no cart). The Good: -They clearly spent a lot of money revamping the course. Some of the holes are similar to what they were before, some were entirely different. I don't think I've played a 569 yard Par 5 here in the Bay Area! -The course used to be very flat. They added a lot of contours to the fairways which make for some interesting lies. -Sand! There a tons of sand traps along the fairways and surrounding the greens. -They are also growing out some long grass (fescue) in some areas on the course. The fescue will make for some lost balls when it grows longer. The bad: -No yardage markers on the course anywhere. Your GPS apps may not have this new course yet, so you will be flying blind for yardages unless you have a laser range finder. -No ball washers on the course yet. -There aren't enough rakes for all of the freakin' sand traps your ball will roll into! -No water fountains or jugs on the course. They said they had some ice chests with water bottles at holes 4 and 14, but they were all empty. -The grass on the greens is different and seems a little slower than other courses. -$55 to walk at twilight seems a bit steep for what you get. A lot of these issues will likely get fixed as time goes on. I'm interested to see how the North Course revamp will go over the next two years. read more

The redone south course is in great shape and very enjoyable to play. The layout is mostly flat and at least for the front 9 the women's tees are at a distance that I can actually have a chance of getting to the greens in regulation. The greens are large and very undulating which makes the course harder than it first appears. If you want to just go out for fun or are a beginner go out on the North Course for a mere $15. Only 6 holes are available but you can play them 3 times if you want. read more

This place has gone downhill since it opened. Fairways were rough. No more GPS on carts. Price has gone up, $90 for a senior, midweek with cart. It's not worth $90. Pro shop was arrogant. Barely greet you and do not give receipts. Now I know why. Some courses are worth $90 + but not this one. I will only return if some of my best friends want to play. If every course was charging these rates the courses would be mostly empty. read more

Chuck. That's what me and my golf buddies call it. There are actually 3 courses at Chuck, two18 holes and one 9er. There is a range, 2 putting greens, pro shop (pretty modest, nothing special) and Legend's and Hero's bar and grill serves some good eats. I haven't played the 9 hole, but both 18's are fun and easy on the ego. The courses are well kept and green fees are very reasonable, even for non-residents. I prefer to play the Earl Frye, North course, but the South course is a fun alternative. It's also pretty easy to get there from SF. read more

It was my first time playing this course since it was redesigned. Greens are in good shape but fairways and tee boxes are pretty beat up. Layout is pretty open and forgiving. The design is pretty similar to that of Bayland and Metro but Metro definitely has a better value than Corica South. read more

Fan of the links-style, par 3 nine-hole course. Longest is 147 yards and there are some challenging, undulating greens. Nice green fairways. Played at dusk, thus saw a skunk run by us on the first hole heading to the ninth hole. Cool as long as we kept some distance from it. South course is under renovation. Employees are nice and helpful. Range closes early on Monday. read more

Condition: This is definitely a fun golf course for an intermediate to advance beginner golfer like myself. ( I use red marker for ladies) Many holes are open field with straight forward shots, but also some challenged holes with sand traps with water. So don't use pro V one Titleist golf balls. I lost at least 6 balls in this golf course. Price: We got a hot deal from the Golf Now for $32 a person including golf carts at 1:18 pm tee time on a Sunday. Perfect timing to play an 18-holes golf with friends after the church. Weather: The weather is high 72 and low 65, so it's still a bit chilly for early June in Alameda. I will suggest a light long sleeve sports shirt and a pair of golf pants or golf skirt with legging for girls. And bring a wind breaker. Pro-shop: Good service. Many golf bags and gears on sales there. Restaurant: I like the Jim super burger and chicken wings with sweet & sour sauce here. The burger is so large that it's enough for two people. Overall a great golf experience and good price. Although it is a bit far to drive from the south city (takes about 55 minutes), we will definitely go back in the future. read more

Love golfing here, it's really convenient as it's just 5 minutes or less from my house. The Earl Fry course is their "main" course really, as it is kept in the best condition of the 2 others, the Jack Clark and the par 3 course. The par 3 course isn't really cared for and mainly contains dead grass. The other 2 courses are in great condition. Sometimes there are huge flocks of geese and they poop all over the course, which can be a nuisance if you let it get to you. The Earl Fry course is 18 holes, and is kept in the best condition. This course contains more hazards than the other courses, which makes it the most interesting and challenging. The holes are much more interesting than the other holes on the other courses. The Earl Fry is always more busy than the two others, which makes perfect sense. The Jack Clark is also 18 holes, and is kept in moderate condition. Sometimes the grass dies in the summer and the soil gets hard, which can make it frustrating to hit your ball solidly. Hazards are rare on this course. This course gets less busy than the Earl Fry course, which means you can quickly drive to the course and start playing. Lastly, the par 3 course, which contains 9 holes. I take this course as a joke really. The grass is kept in horrible condition and the tee boxes are on artificial turf, the same as the driving range. Putting is nearly impossible to get right. On some holes, the green is the same grass as the fairway, and not clear. During the summer, when I'm tired, but I want to get some golf in, I usually play this. I always do terribly because of the horrible conditions of it but I keep coming back, I have no clue as to why, but I do. The last time I played here, they were doing some renovations I think, so I'm hoping for some decent conditions of the grass next time. read more

Great time here. Usually busy in the afternoon on weekdays. Par3 course is fun fairly quick and decently maintained. I would suggest booking a tee time for this as many a time people before me or after me at checkout are complaining they can't get on last minute with no reservation for the par3. I've even booked about an hour or so in advanced and that saves your spot. Staff are usually pretty accommodating and the range is great. Just be mindful of when you show up. Starts getting busy/busier about 430 on the dot during the week. Love this place for my local course though! read more
