Came here on a mid- morning sun after the rain of Christmas Eve and the parking lot was filling up as there were some folks leaving. When arriving to pick a bay, the first floor was already filled. Got the balls from the machine and went upstairs, which was also filling up, but got lucky to find two bays side by side at the top of the stairs. Great view of the waterfront and sight of low flying planes (landing at SFO).Wasn't able to take pictures, but the great experience had is enough to recommend this location to all. read more

Birdies food truck is excellent. Beyond expectations. This is why we came. For lunch. On a spectacular Good Friday the parking lot was full and tee times were booked solid. The bar, club house and driving range are very very dated. This could and should be a huge cash cow for the city and county, but facilities are stuck in 1975. You can't change the location but you can remodel the structures and driving range to modernize and make more money. read more

Great 9 hole par 3 course. There are 2 stories for their driving range. It's never too busy and the lower gets great afternoon shade. I love that they have ball tracing at their driving range (although it wasn't working the last time I was there), and can review all of the historical stats on the app on my phone. They have a shop to do club fittings, etc. that I haven't explored yet. My only gripe.. cigarette smoke can get trapped inside the downstairs area, so I wish there were some rules about having smokers go further away to smoke (or a dedicated area far away from everyone else). read more

I've been to mariners a few times a week within the last month and absolutely love the facility! During peaks hours like after work or the weekends, the driving range can be pretty crowded. We found 11am-1pm on Sundays or anytime before 3 pm on the weekdays are the best times to hit the range as we can easily find bays next to each other. The course is also a fun 3-par course that's pretty beginner friendly. We always finish within 1.5 hrs max even when it's busy. It's a perfect course to practice your short game. We loved it so much we started going twice a week. read more

Great views with a solid driving range and a nice and short "executive" par 3 course. It's a great way to practice your short game, and a fantastic way to practice windy conditions on most days. The driving range is a double decker, standard for most driving ranges. I like they also have a separate grass area that you can buy special buckets for. There's nothing like hitting off grass instead of a mat. They also have the Tracer machines which is nice as it works with a mobile app and is a great way to actually understand how you're hitting - not every bay has one though, so expect to wait if you want to use a Tracer machine. I haven't been in a while, but in the past, the ball conditions seem reasonable. There's also a large practice putting area. Parking is always easy to find (though you may need to park toward the end of the parking lot). I can't speak much to their pub and food as I haven't eaten there before. That said, others I spoke to mentioned it's fine. read more

Had a great experience here at Mariners. I've been hearing great things about this place from my son and we finally had a chance to come out. Parking was a little full but we were able to find a spot right when someone was about to leave. From there is just a short walk to the clubhouse where you can get a coin that you use for their ball machines. That's just the few hurdles you need to deal with. Next you need to find a stall or wait for someone who's about to finish their last golf balls, ask politely if you can take over when they're done. Their setup is just like Top golf where you can play games or even track your shot distances. If you create an account, those stats are saved to your profile. If you plan on coming here a lot, I suggest you create a profile to keep track of your progress. The place can get windy at times since you're next to the water and you can see flights on their landing approach into SFO. Overall a great and modern place to hit balls. Haven't tried the food yet or hit balls on top deck so maybe that experience will be next on my list. read more

Great driving range with every bay offering Top Tracer tech for free use. This place gets extremely crowded though. Had to wait 30 minutes for a bay to open up and even the putting and short game areas were completely full. Well worth it though, and the course is a great 9 hole for cheap and since they have the bleacher lights there is no worrying about beating the Sun down. You arent really pulling out any club bigger than a 9 iron on the course but still really fun for a quick 1 hour round. read more

Great place to go for a driving range or 9 hole. There's a food truck, a bar, and lots of TV's showing sports. Staff in the store have been pretty nice. Cons are that it's almost always crowded except close to closing time so it's hard to get in consistent practice and game time here. We spent our Saturday afternoon hitting golf balls and I gotta say, Mariners has really improved the overall experience of this driving range. While I have a driving range just minutes from my house in San Bruno, the main reason I'm driving to Foster City for Mariners is for two reasons: Birdies (food trailer), and the trackman tracers. Birdies, is the newest addition for food at Mariners, and their food is 5-stars for quality, flavor, and price! The smashburger is probably one of the best you'll find in the Peninsula (at least I've tried), and it's only $10.95. I've got a big appetite, so I got an order of chicken tenders and fries. Their homemade ranch and bbq were perfect for dipping everything in. And the fries were so tasty! The chicken tenders were good too. Golf and burgers, it doesn't get any better than that. Back to the golf...if you want to know how far you are hitting each of your golf clubs, the trackman devices at each hitting stall is clutch. It's easy to navigate through the different on-screen options, and is great for practicing and gauging distances. I don't know how accurate the numbers are, but I liked what I saw lol Since I was last there, they extended the covered area in the ground level hitting area. Added tables and comfy chairs, so you can go with a group of friends. It reminds me of Top Golf in a way, but at fraction of the price. It's popular on the weekends, so we did have to wait a bit for a stall, but worked out because we ate first as we waited. Definitely will be back to work on my short game, and play some night golf on their 9-hole par 3 course! OR whenever i'm craving a smashburger lol read more

Hands down the best golf facility in all of the Bay area, plus it has a great nine hole for practicing your irons and short game. The nine-hole course is perfect for beginners and more advanced players looking to practice their irons. The longest hole is around 170 yards from the back tees and the shortest is around 100 yards. Everything is extremely well maintained from the fairways to the greens. You get an amazing view of San Francisco and the Bay on several holes. It's only $20 play around which is quite reasonable. Book your tee times online ahead of time because it books up pretty quickly - usually one week in advance. The driving range has two floors and each bay is equipped with top tracer technology. There's tons of modes for practice, including things like warm up, longest drive, closest to the pin, and even playing virtual golf on iconic courses like Pebble Beach. A bucket of 144 balls was $20. The only caveat is it does get very crowded so you may have to wait for a bay. The short game area is very well maintained but does have a separate charge of $8 - unlimited time, you just pay $8 to rent a golf ball retriever tube filled with balls. There's also a few bunkers in this area for sand practice. read more

I want to preface this review with the fact that I actually enjoy this course, and this review is about an encounter my group had while playing on the course. During our visit today, we were made to feel so unwelcome on a course by a so called "coach" of the facility. I was playing in a group of 2 with two groups of 4 ahead of us and a group of 5 or 6 behind us with an instructor. Beginning around hole 4 or 5 there started to be a wait to tee off, where the prior group in front of us hadn't started the that hole by the time my group finished the prior hole, due to the group in front of them not being done with the hole and creating a ripple effect where at hole 5 or 6 there were three groups waiting to play the hole. That didn't bother me, and is not the issue, the course is busy and things happen. For every hole this round my group had to wait to start the next hole, again not the issue. At one of the holes (6) the "instructor" with the group behind us came up to my group in the middle of playing the hole and told us we needed to pick up the pace of play and that he had been "watching" us this entire time and saw my friend hit multiple balls on the hole (was not true). We responded that we've had to wait at every hole, can't start the hole any sooner when the group before us is still playing the hole, and there has been a wait with even the group in front of us still waiting to start a next hole when we finished the prior and that everyone is having to wait at every hole, not just his group. He completely disregarded us and responded "so, I'm one of the coaches here, telling you that YOU need to pick up your pace of play." Found it interesting that he didn't tell any of the other groups who were also waiting they had to pick up the pace of their play once they were able to play a hole, just us who were in the middle of multiple groups, waiting on every hole, insinuating it was our fault there was a wait at each hole. After telling us this, we noticed that as soon at his group would hit onto the green at the prior hole, the coach would grab his bag and walk all the way to the next hole where we were playing, place his bag as close to this next hole as possible and stand there and watch us as we were trying to finish the hole then would go back to his group, who still was not even done playing the prior hole, guess to send a message that he was timing us. Every group in front of us got to play their rounds in peace, but also with waiting, but we had to deal with the tactics of this instructor in the group behind us so much so, my friend who I was playing with didn't play 2 of the holes because the instructor and his group kept coming onto the hole we were playing and not just waiting on the tee box until we were done. Again everyone was waiting at every hole, it wasn't as if just the group behind us was the only group waiting, we were waiting on the group in front of us and they were waiting on the group in front of them the entire time. read more

Mariners is a good but BUSY, very busy driving range- two stories ball machine is cash only I believe but it is nice. They have the Top Golf machines that give you all the information and its a cheap version of top golf if you want to hit balls. They have the upstairs and downstairs and it is semi see through so you can tell how busy it is and most times people share but people are always here in groups so it can get busy. parking isnt the easiest but there is a lot of it. the views of the bay are nice which also means it gets windy there so be sure to bundle up! read more

The course would be great if it operated like a regular golf course. The problem here is that they allow groups of 6, 7,8+, as long as you are buddies with the owner. Regular paying customers dont get the same perks are the owners friends. And the worst part is that they allow this even when the course is backed up. Once again, if this place operated as an actual course I would be giving a 4 star review, but I am tired of having to wait to shoot behind large groups of the owners friends on a regular basis. read more

Really cool driving range with top tracer technology. I brought my family here for my dad's birthday and they all had a good time. We aren't super serious golfers. but we're all athletic and we do own our own clubs so we brought those with us. We came to the range around 8am on a Sunday morning and it was already a little busy. Although the first level had a couple open spaces my family and I opted for the second story so that each of us would have our own station. It also worked out because on the second story you could see the land bridge to the east bay and the water more clearly so the view was a nice one. We paid in cash and for $40 we got 2 full buckets. Initially we got 1 bucket to start but my dad and brother were having such a good time hitting (and tracking where their balls where going, how far, how fast, etc.) that they kept wanting to hit more so we bought another bucket. COVID updates: you can't rent golf clubs right now but there are some used ones for sale for $25. It's a bit steep but convenient nevertheless if you're not prepared with your own equipment. We are not golfers and came here on a whim, so we bought one to use the day we went! The guy at the front was friendly and helped recommend a 7 iron for us to hit with on the driving range! We came on a weekday around 3pm. The vibe was quiet - people were focused on their game and not so much chatting/socializing! My partner and I shared a large basket of balls and shared a stall (since we were sharing a club!). There's a cool screen at each stall (that's connected to an app you can download) that shows where the ball went after you hit it and how far it went. I like that there are a lot of flags out on the greens for different targets to aim at while you hit. I also noticed different stalls had different mat textures. Again, I am absolutely new to golf but I enjoyed hitting at this driving range. I recommend it! read more

Windy executive course. Can definitely bang out a round real quick if that's what you want to do! The course is very beginner friendly so I'd recommend this place if you are new to the game. Probably the best-golfing range in the bay area. There is plenty of parking in the lot, a beautiful backdrop of the San Mateo bridge, rangefinder + screen technology with several game modes at each range. The ranges are pretty well kept and the ambiance of the range is a lot more lively and sunny compared to other locations such as the San Bruno or Burlingame golf course. The price is fair at $16 for 140 balls with the range card which is cheaper than other options such as presidio golf in SF which is $15 for 100 balls. It can get busy on the weekends but I've never really had to wait for myself for a spot. Overall, a must-go for the golfing range. read more

Fun place, surprisingly good beer selection and prices (Sculpin, Elysian), but if you go on the top level there's all these balls flying out from beneath you and I wasn't used to that (amateur) so choose your floor carefully. If you're lucky and stand in the right spot, you can actually overhear some professional golf lessons! Something like switching your footing based on an iron vs driver idk, but as a lefty I was trying my right handed skills here for the first time ever and nobody laughed at me (that I noticed?) except for the gals I came with. It was a great way to blow off some steam after work and the view was fantastic, made me *almost* not care about how horrible I did. You can buy balls onsite with either cash ($10 for 45 balls) or with a slight discount if you have a Mariners Point membership card. They also have a free practice area. Beautiful spot and very scenic, albeit a bit windy. The driving range stalls get pretty full during peak hours, so you might have to stand and wait for someone to finish up. read more
