I am playing some of the best golf of my life (8.8 index) and I owe the guys here for getting me set up with clubs that help me play my best. These guys have watched me "grow" in my golf game over the past 2 years. Sean (person who does most of the fittings) told me I didn't need to upgrade my driver from my Ping G425 LST, but because I wanted to burn some cash, he got me into a Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond with an Accra shaft. The shaft has been AMAZING. Sean knows his stuff and is all business during the fitting session. I've never walked away from a fitting doubting what he puts me into. Shawn (owner) just in general is a really friendly guy and his estimates on when things will be ready (replacing grips, building clubs, etc) are on point. I will admit I'm super picky and like to take a long time before I decide anything. So, when I got a full bag fitting here, I only ended up buying a hybrid from Shawn. I wasn't ready to drop 600$ on a new driver that I was hitting 20 yards further than my current gamer and I wasn't ready to spend big money without first trying to see if a the new hybrid would bring some improvement over my decade old Nike hybrids I'm still gaming. The hybrid ended up being the only club that I still struggle with to this day, but it was also the least impressive club I was fitted into during my fitting, which by the way includes Driver, Fairway, hybrid - as needed, irons. No wedge or putter fitting. Shawn just asked me what I was hitting now and decided it would be best to stick with an iron set matched pitching and gap wedge. Plus, the hybrid I bought was actually a generation older than the one I was fitted for since I wanted to save some money and theoretically it wasn't too much of a difference with the newest model - my mistake. However, I found out I really needed a fairway wood after a few weeks of more playing and decided to just 100% follow Shawn's recommendation. I got the newest gen wood and it has been a game changer for me, filling a missing gap in the bag. A few months later, I recently just purchased the remainder of the bag, including forking out $600 for the driver I was fitted into with custom weighting. 1000% worth it and also the prices are just the same as you'd find anywhere else. Note, I was fitted into a stock offering shaft so no upcharge. For the irons, I went to a rare Srixon demo day and hit a close enough spec with what Shawn fitted me into and the rep told me to trust Shawn some of his friends in the business have gotten fitted with him and loved the results. After one round of playing the new ZX4 MkII irons, I can say that the club does perform, it's my swing that sometimes gets off. The dispersion of my shots I believe are better than the 10 year old irons I was playing with before. Also, Shawn allowed me to use his launch monitor extensively every time I come to try out the new clubs I purchased. I'm sure I've annoyed him and staff by now with how much time I spent but I appreciate that he lets me have that peace of mind and satisfaction with my new clubs. Came here with a golf buddy. Well to say I learned a lot simply sitting watching and listening to them working with him is an understatement. After an hour, I feel like I learned as much about things I can do to improve my golf game as my buddy who was into get fitted for a driver. The fitting cost is waved if you purchase the clubs through them. On thing I learn that completely makes sense. My friend requires a shaft the concentrates flex to the Lower third of the club. While that sounds like a gimmick to force him to order a custom more expensive shaft, based on what the data and experimentation with different shafts heads grips was to provide as much of a repeatable result based on the inconsistencies and imperfections of us humans. All I can say is if my friend gets this club his drives at least should improve. read more

I went in for a full bag fitting today and maybe I did too much research about what to expect beforehand and I set those expectations on my experience. I don't want to say I was impressed nor disappointed just a notch or two below impressed. My expectation from the research I did was the fitter was suppose to get a baseline of my current clubs and then have me try new irons. In the process of the fitting, there wasn't a moment where I was explained to what they were looking at and why it's important and compare to what I was doing now. I was the hoping the fitting would have been more like what I've read and seen online. Hit about 5-6 balls, stop, and have the fitter explain what was going on from the data collected. Overall, I would do a fitting again, but not here. Staff was great, but fitting experience is not up to par from what other fitters describe in their process. Positive is, I did buy a new driver 1/19 Update: I wrapped up a Iron fitting over the weekend at another golf store, and I confirm, my experience @ Alameda Golf works was not great. I warmed up with my current Irons, and then I hit with my current irons to get a baseline, the fitter walked me through the specific details of my quality shots, and then I started hitting different irons. About 10 balls max, and walked me through the difference between my baseline and different irons. The process was cleaner, and much more engaging. I generally really liked my club fitting for driver and 3 wood. Not only did Sean let me stay another 30 minutes past to hit the clubs, he was really thoughtful with selecting 4-5 great shafts to improve my game. I originally thought low spin was good, but I was getting 1500-1600 RPMs for my driver, he chose a spinnier shaft for me and it really improved my game. read more

Do yourself a favor. Skip the big boxes. Get personally fitted and buy a L.A.B. putter from Shawn. Shawn was the 3rd person to become a LAB / Directed Force certified fitter over 10 years ago. Shawn still uses is Directed Force putter after all these years. After trying every putter under the sun now I understand that torque was the problem all along. I was fighting all my putters. I'm a better putter than I realize. I went into the store intending to buy a LAB Link (blade style). But Shawn said try all the LAB styles first and then decide. He guessed that I would like the Mezz 1 Max. He was right! I love my Mezz 1 Max. 10' and it's putts it self! The shop has a great selection of clubs. Great local golf shop which is such a refreshing and nice option compared to the big box stores. Everyone is friendly, great selection of clubs and wonderful service. I had an iron fitting in January and it was a really good experience. He asked me some questions about why I was looking for new irons and what I was hoping to get out of it. Asked about about my game, let me casually warm up with my clubs and then started the fitting when I was ready. They had my gamer ball which was great. We quickly found a shaft he thought was good for me and then we tried a few different heads. Ended up with the Srixon zx4 mkii irons with graphite shafts (I'd never had graphite before). And, 3+ months in, they are fantastic. Really happy with them. Will definitely go back for my next fitting and purchase. Been to Club Champion in the past and AlamedaGolf Works is a far superior experience to me. And, supporting a local golf shop feels much better to boot. read more

Making an appointment was really easy and when I got there the staff was friendly and welcoming. Shawn was the one helping me with the fitting and he was very knowledgeable. If you are a woman, this store is not for you. When you walk in, immediately you feel like you walked into the boys locker room. There is zero women's gear either. I first called the store and spoke to an employee about getting my existing clubs cut to size. The guy was super short and kind of condescending, but the place had good reviews so I decided to just go and talk in person. When I came in, I was greeted by Sean, the owner. Sean was great, approachable, and very helpful. I didn't have my clubs on me so he said come back and we will fit them. I came back and Sean wasn't there. I waited by the counter and one of the guys (ginger hair) ignored me a few times until I asked if he could help me. Told him I spoke to Sean, and what I needed. Very short in his responses and not welcoming. He asked my height and then he said I'm only going to cut it one inch. I asked three times, are you sure because I'm 5ft and they are men's graphite clubs (I have upper body strength) and he barely would answer and clearly annoyed. Got my clubs back and went to play with my coach again and she told me they were not short enough. She also heard from many of her women clients that this store is not welcoming to women and everyone has the same experience. read more

Went into Alameda Golfworks in need of some new clubs and got set up with a fitting with Shawn and after hitting a hand full of balls Shawn gave me some basic instructions on how to better my swing and how the technique I was using was actually cause the exact opposite swing path that I was intending to have. Once I was able to implement that little tips we instantly started seeing major improvement in my consistency, accuracy and distance allowing us to get a much better fitting session. As a father of two growing junior tournament golfers, we've gone through over 9 full sets of clubs! Came here for a driver fitting a few weeks ago and couldn't be more happy with the experience and my new driver. I worked with Shaun for the fitting and told him I was getting lessons to make tweaks to my swing and he was very understanding and paired me with a driver that I could grow into. I was also interested in buying new hybrids, but he told me that he wouldn't recommend me buying new hybrids until I could hit the ones that I had because they were pretty good ones. Most other shops probably would've tried to take down the sale, but not here...they give honest, genuine advice and I can't be more thankful for that. Senior now and laid down the clubs for 38 years, Shawn fitted me this morning with requested 4 clubs ( driver, 5 hybrid, 7 iron and wedge ). I'm a low handicap player with familiarity with the fitting process and they exceed in their customer service and knowledge. I got fitted for irons, woods and driver. I tightened my iron dispersion by more than 50%, I got perfect gapping in my woods. I picked up 10 yards with my 3 wood and 15 yards of carry with my driver. These are huge gains from my previous set. Their build and repair quality is top notch. Their prices are more than fair and have a large array of club and shaft offerings. Great customer service, specifically from Jason, with an emphasis on "service". I needed a new gap wedge for my 12 yr old son and was able to find a gap wedge that matched is current set but it was a men's regular graphite shaft. We had his current 5 iron with a junior graphite shaft that he was not using so I wanted to pull the shaft from the 5 iron and install it into the gap wedge. This was my first time at Alameda Golfworks and Jason helped us out. Jason was very professional and helpful with a eye on details. After we dropped off the club, he called me because he noticed that my son's Cobra irons are the one length irons but because the hosel was new gap wedge was longer, the new club would be longer so wanted to confirm that we wanted the new gap wedge in the same length as all the other irons. We wanted all his irons to still be the same length so Jason told us he would have to cut down the 5 iron shaft from the butt end but he would be able to save and reuse the grip. The turnaround time was great and the price was vey reasonable. My son is super excited to be using his new gap wedge. I would recommend Alameda Golfworks for any club repairs/adjustments, especially if you can get Jason to help you. read more
