I returned to Corica following its extensive renovation. We played I believe the South course which was the more extensively renovated 18. It is a beautiful contoured layout with midsize, fairways and true rolling greens. The spacious grounds had a delightful green and fecund aire . A welcome feel for a January afternoon during Rev Dr Martin Luther King weekend! Superb drainage is just one of the great features of the course ...with all the December and early January precipitation and foul weather our playing partners indicated that they seldom missed their regular appointed rounds. We were fortunate to be paired with two very splendid amateur women players - one from Stanford and another a consultant with Apple Management... So you never know who you're going to meet at Corica. My friend - a local denizen - was just beginning to explore the challenges of the game. ... it was a difficult course to learn and implement swing changes on. Though the driving range provides elite swing technology, it lacks key indicators such as spin and ball speed, that are helpful in teaching a new player, but it's still a feature that most driving ranges around the country lack. The par threes were particularly bland and I found the 17th almost unplayable. I also thought the weekend greens fee was exorbitant close to $151 +2 cart fees, plus a 75 nonrefundable non-applicable reservation fee, which is total nonsense. It's been quite awhile since we've played golf here. The only recall is the driving range, the remodeled pro shop, and the restaurant onsite. And the bathrooms look remodeled. No recall of the course at all. The 12 of us played the South course this past Tuesday. Very challenging fast greens. If you happen to hit into the rough good luck finding your ball. The bunkers had fluffy sand. We finished in approximately 4 1/2 hours. Slow play on the back nine. Holes 12-14 were cart path only as they're repairing the fairways. Brand new golf carts with GPS. And elevated trays in the cart to place your snacks so birds and other animals can't get to them. The course was a change for us. We'd return. read more

I live near Corica Park and have been consistently using the driving range for the past few months with my son. I like that they're using Top Tracer so I can track my progress (or lack thereof) through data. I'm an analytical type of guy so this helps to diagnose what I need to improve on. As for the course, I've only played the par 3 course here and I'd rate it as ok. My main issue is that some of the holes feel too close together so errant shots are frequently flying into my hole. Jim's on the Course is a popular brunch spot. The food is pretty good though it can get busy there. Service was a bit sub-par last time I ate there but it's also been better on other visits. Overall, Corica Park is a fun place to spend time for locals. read more

This is course is AMAZING but it's the range that's really hurting the reviews m. The staff are very friendly and the facilities are great. They have two putting greens and one of them is huge. Although the practice putting green isn't as fast as the real greens, the slopes make up for it. The chipping green is amazing it is really big and has great grass, many pin locations, and two decent sized bunkers. The course is amazing with the conditions being really great not the most punishing course off the tee but the greens are the trickest part. The real greens are rolling about an 13 which is probably the fastest in the bay area. They roll amazing. The range needs some work though. The mats are pretty old and the balls are used. You have to sort out the good balls for your driver they do have top tracer for free which is nice. They have a grad range in the back which is meh. There is alot of grass, but doesn't mean it's good grass. usually the front of the grass range is AMAZING. The little spot below the tree is honestly comparable to pebble beach resort grass ranges. The middle and back of the grass range is okay. The grass gets worse but it still works out it's like a 350 yard walk to balls to the grass range and you have to be a member or pay for a day pass to get into the grass range also this course is really good with juniors. read more

Played the new north today. The issue at most munis is pace of play and price. 5-hour round, zero proactive marshals. How, why? It's a flat course, see ball, hit ball. The front is dull. Back more interesting with more water and great par 3s. Greens are fantastic. It can be tough. I'm an Alameda resident and paid $61 to walk in week. Would definitely not pay $80 or whatever. No one wants to marshal cause a) they don't get paid b) some unaware golfers hate being told what to do. read more

Played the front 9 on the North Course for the first time and it was great. I love its location in the outer area of Alameda. The proshop was nicely designed and had great memorabilia to buy. Got myself a ball marker and hat. The marshall was at the first tee for our 7:20am tee time and was pretty casual. Good fairways and greens. Expect the goose poop all over the course haha. We played in overcast weather but im sure it's much more scenic during the sunlight. Found the course a good amount of challenging but great for casuals like myself. Would def come back and cant wait for the rest of the course rennovations for the north course. read more

Lots of evolution here. Very busy course too but rightfully so as the course offers a legit links style of play that mimic those from the lands where golf was invented (Scotland and England). Cept I'm not too sure if most Cali golfers can observe or appreciate that. We played the 'north course' which is their 9 hole track but a full par 36 so it isn't your pitch and putt 9 holer. I was told that this north course is going to eventually transform to a full 18 hole track soon. So motorized golf carts are not available for this course as the golf paths are not yet developed. Many are just rough gravel paths. This north course is walkable as most is flat but hopefully the cart paths will eventually open to the public. The 'south course' is a full 18 and I think I've played it in the 2000s but can't really recall any features. This course is super popular especially on weekends when I see lots of tournaments get booked here. Which is why we had to play their 9 hole track twice on a Sunday, as this South Course was fully booked. But here are some notes that I observed that can summarize the golf experience here: Links style golf with very little trees, thus very little shelter or shade. Totally exposed to the wind and sun. Slather that sunscreen on or you'll turn into a lobster after a long round. Lol Several different levels of grass. Basic rough is not too bad. Rough on the extreme outer edges almost impossible to find a ball, let alone attempt to hit it. Greens are huge, with lots of undulations and very smooth and quick. Very true rolls, probably the best I've seen from this price point, between $70-$90 per round. Super impressed with their greens. GPS systems don't really work on the current North Couse as it is evolving in real time. So nothing is set yet. Annoying for the mean time as there is a lot of guess work for yardage set up. Nice driving range across the parking lot. Reasonable prices and they have one of those shot tracking systems that you can play and learn with. Jim's On The Course is a full service restaurant with a huge outdoor patio on premise. I've been a regular for the restaurant much more than I am for the course. Solid breakfast/brunch spot. Super busy on weekends especially if the weather is nice. I think Alameda residents get a slight discount to play, which is appropriate. We're not residents but will play here from time to time. It's a good enough unique experience to travel here and even pony up a little more for green fees. Looking forward in trying the South Course and/or the improved North Course. Justified. read more

Great practice area with ShotTracer tech. Nice course overall and facilities, though course could have been in better shape, especially given it's been raining which is good growing season. Service at the course in general is pretty good and the carts are really nice, updated, nice cushion and gps monitor on the cart. North Course costs $140.00 to play. I played Saturday 10/4. My Tee time was 9:10 am. Tee time changed to 8:10 am on Friday night after 4pm. I didn't get the message that the time changed. I showed up at 8:05 am ready to hit balls and stretch and putt. I was wished to the tee completely cold. We played in 5 hours always right behind the group in front. We never saw the group behind all day. On the 15th hole a Marshall came and told us to play faster. No group behind us. On the tail of the group in front. I took a 7 on par 4 because I was so upset. Ruined my day! This was the worst $140. golf round I can remember. Don't waste your money! read more

Full disclosure this is a split review for the South course and the North course. The south course is designed so you have different options to play a hole, in the air or on the ground. Plus around the green you can putt or chip. The north course gives you almost no choice but to play the ball in the air. If you miss the green your choice of playability is zero. You either end up in tall grass or a ravine. The layout of the north course is IMHO goofy and really overpriced. read more

Played the North course recently all 18 . Really not sure why the drastic change from before. It has a few good holes but I guess The hundred and nine dollar price has jaded my day . They offer no incentives for senior citizens. Some of the fairways have ski moguls through to the greens. Seems to take the skill out of the game and rely on luck . I should give this course 4-Stars but the price to play 18-holes of golf is astronomical! Right now (July 2021), only one of two courses is open (they are close to completing the renovation of the North Course). When that course opens, I'm sure the rates will be sky-high. Currently, it's $64+ to play 18 holes without a cart (on the weekdays). Golf is an expensive game! However, I grew up playing on this course and have so many great memories of playing with my family here. In fact, this is where I learned to play golf. They have always made golf affordable and accessible for youth. The lower rates for youth and Alameda residents are awesome! I'm glad that so many kids get an opportunity to learn the game of golf as a result! They offer summer camps to youth from all socioeconomic backgrounds. The camp provides golf instruction and character building activities. Participants are given a chance to play on the Par 3 course (equipped with golf bags and clubs). They are also able to hit buckets of balls on the driving range. Love it! I'm gradually returning to the game. My swing is nice. My contact on the other hand has been super inconsistent lately. Hooks, slices, duffs, complete whiffs - this is where my game is currently. Nonetheless, I'm determined to correct whatever it is. And, the lower cost of a small bucket of range balls here is what's gonna help me do it lol! Compared to other driving ranges, Alameda's rate for a bucket of balls rocks! It's $6 for a small bucket of 30 balls. Obviously, that can add up but it's certainly much better than Montclair, Monarch Bay, or Tilden. The par 3 course offers a chance to exercise and work on your wedge, pitching and putting game. The course is lushly green, relatively flat, plays very short, and the tee boxes are just ok. It cost $16 for non-residents to play. And, it's best to make a reservation in advance. I like to use the Golf Now app. Again, it's sort of pricey for 9-holes on a course that doesn't have any Par 4s. But, if you're an Alameda resident the rate is something like $10-$13. Well, I look forward to the reopening of the North course. I'm sure is going to be really nice! Hopefully, the twilight rate will be reasonable. See you out there, hackin' away! Four!!! Oh, I forgot to mention the restaurant! As a kid the food was the bomb. Great place to grab a pre- or post game meal/snack. I'll have to stop in there again one of these days to see what's the latest and greatest. Sorry, I didn't speak to the quality of the 18-Hole South Course. It's been years since I played it. As a kid, it was the easier of the two courses but far less challenging and played much longer than the North Course. I had high hopes for this course because the pictures looked absolutely gorgeous online and seemed to be accurate according to Yelp users pictures. I was able to secure a super early tee time the night before, but maybe that was the first warning sign. It had rained in the morning so that meant that the cart paths, which are unpaved, were full of mud and puddles. The surprising thing is that a lot of the fairways had yellowed grass, which was ultimately disappointing considering that the rate is about $90 for Friday/weekend without a cart. There is also geese poop scattered on several holes. Landscaping crew is active throughout so you won't always get a quiet hole. Greens were fun, lots of challenging breaks and rolling. There were some holes with aerated greens - holes had been punched in them but it didn't affect the course too much. The staff (check in guy, starter, marshall) were all super friendly and the pro shop is nice and new. Bunkers looked like they were in decent condition, although I can't tell you for sure since I did not land in a single one! For the price; however, this isn't worth it because I have to constantly walk around in muddy conditions. It would really help if the cart paths are paved as a $90 a round course should have paved paths at a minimum. The muni courses I've played at on the Peninsula side of the Bay all have paved cart paths and cost much less. Should they pave the paths and improve the fairway conditions, I would happily return and pay the premium. read more

Paid $50 for a "guaranteed" tee time, and was told that I got pushed back the night prior. I would expect that if I am paying for a guaranteed time, that a) I would get that time, and b) if I get pushed, I would get refunded either for my round, or at a minimum, my $50 fee. Neither of those were offered. Regarding the course, every green was still sanded, making it extremely difficult to read or have a consistent putt. Would definitely not recommend this place to other golfers, especially at $100+ per tee time. read more

Yesterday my friend managed to get a tee time for the Corica Park NORTH course in Alameda. The only caveat was we were playing nine holes for $49 green fee. IMHO the green fee was a little steep but the first nine holes closest to the clubhouse were open for play. The holes furthest away where probably about 6 months away from completion. Anyway we had a foursome and we teed off from the black tees as they were rated at about 6300 yards long. The wind was up gusting at about 20 mph. A good challenge. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition though it was still a little hard for all the renovation work. There were a few light brown spots which was not unexpected in this drought year. The fairways and greens had a lot of undulations and the bunkers were similar to Scottish links style (St Andrews Old Course). Fortunately I did not find any of the bunkers but did lose a ball in the fescue which was pretty thick at many spots. I did enjoy playing this brand new upgraded nine holes and can't wait until they reopen the rest of the course. read more

The public course is maintained well plus dining facilities are good, especially for a public course. The course is challenging but not punishing. Prices are reasonable. Tee times and flow of golfers were good for my foursome - two of whom I didn't know - on a Friday. Plenty of parking is available. As long as you can make the drive to Corica, you should enjoy yourself. read more

I never played the original courses but have been able to play Corica Park since they remodeled the south course and changed the name. I can honestly say this is one of the top public courses in the area. The conditions are always firm and fast. Fairways are wide and greens are huge with plenty of slopes and movement. The pace has always been excellent. We typically golf during twilight and finish in no worse than 3:30-4 hours. Minimal elevation changes make the course very walkable as well. They have a driving range with a ton of mats to hit from along with a par 3 course to cover all your practice needs. This is a must play! read more

I do like the new South course. Definitely a lot more difficult than the old. I like the fact that they have gps in all the carts which helps since Garmin isn't up to date yet. Looking forward to the new North course being finished. I understand that with a new course comes new fees, but not sure I will be back for a bit since it's $66 green fee and $15 cart. A bit high for what u get there. Of course everyone love something cheaper and it's just hard to forget that it used to be around $56 for greens AND cart. Times change and inflation comes along...so I get it but still...and it is nitpicking over a few $ but..there are lots to choose from so beggars can kind of be choosers. We shall see for the future...never know...I won't say no if a friend wants to play there but we'll just leave it in the air for now til it's fully done read more

My friend and I played today. Mediocre course at best. Dry, super fast greens that are almost unfair. Course is pretty beat up and not in that good of condition. This is my opinion though. Starter was super friendly and nice. Just spending $109 with cart I don't feel like I got my money's worth. 1:42pm tee time and only got to the 17th hole. Go and see for yourself but it seems way overpriced and kind of a let down. Maybe I'll give it another go in the future but can play Monarch Bay, Metropolitan, Las Positas or Redwood Canyon for way cheaper. read more

This course is really beautiful. I love the 18 hole and the 9 hole par 3 is great for beginners who need practice and a challenge. The 18 hole is really nicely maintained and worth the money (believe it or not). The pricing is on the higher side for 9 hole and driving range but you are definitely getting what you paid for. All the employees are super friendly and nice but of course with anywhere, you will experience someone who isn't the nicest when they are having a bad day which I can understand. The driving range is small but the automatic stalls are great and convenient. Only about two left stalls however and a couple regular non automatic mats. read more

We bought the Groupon for the Par 3 course. My fiancé called multiple times between 12-1pm to book a tee time and no one picked up the phone. There wasn't a voicemail for him to leave a message so we went to the course to book. We checked the website at 2pm and it showed the next available times were at 3:15pm and 3:45pm. When we got there, they said the course was booked for the rest of the day. Hopefully we can use the Groupon another day and they have a better system for people to book tee times through Groupon. We've used a Groupon for this location a few years back and it was a much easier process then. read more
