Fantastic Indian food and service! The servers were courteous and very attentive. Nice ambience, overall an enjoyable experience and definitely a must-visit for I dian food in Austin.

Coriander: I am generally not a fan of buffets, unless someone else is paying of course. I have stopped by here in the long past, when it was a Brazilian restaurant and later another Indian restaurant. I was not really too impressed until it transformed into a new Indian style restaurant. They have a daily and a weekend buffet. So I have given it a few tries. I have had just about everything they have and it is good and this means a big positive from a non-buffet person. The food was under spiced for me, but would appeal to a broader customer base. The Butter Chicken was excellent as was the Saag Paneer while the Tandoori Chicken was a bit dry (in all fairness, unless eaten immediately after preparation this dish tends to dry fast). The buffet has a lot of typical dishes that you would expect in an Indian restaurant and not too spicy for someone who is not used to Indian type food that can really bring the heat. Next time I will order a specific dish on or off the regular menu so I can see what is prepared spicy from the start when I order spicy so as to make sure it is not akin to those places who just add some hot sauce after the fact. The restaurant and bathroom were very clean and the staff performed their tasks plesently and were quite friendly. I recommend giving it a try and also see what they can prepare individually. It is a bit tricky to get to on the access road, but is in plain view just as you go past. You may have to do a go around. Once you know where it is, zero difficulties in getting to the location.

We showed up at 6 pm expecting a buffet, like dummies. Well, we've only ever had the buffet there, each time we aimlessly strolled in. And everything was always so delicious, I must say, we consistently overate, and always had a hard time getting back to the car. Anyway, we decided to sit down and order from the menu. We ordered the first thing I saw, the "Royal Feast for Two" under Chefs Recommendations for $44. The samosas came out first. They were crunchy on the outside, warm and moist on the inside. Not sure what was in them. The ambient lighting was too dim to see... and also we inhaled them. But they were great, topped with a little of the imli and hari chutney dipping sauces that came with the flat, crispy complimentary papadum before we ordered. We waited for what felt like 10 minutes before the rest of our order all came out at once. The basmati rice was speckled with peas and did a fantastic job of ensuring all the wonderful sauces made it to our mouths. The tandoori chicken, your standard bright red, roasted chicken, was a little dry, but I've actually come to expect that at any Indian restaurant. And, anyway, we fixed it by asking for extra tikka masala sauce, which I then shamelessly slathered on everything. Good lord, that is good stuff. Our waiter didn't skimp, either. We got a hardy bowl of it; I was not left wanting. The ajwaini jhinga, which was grilled shrimp marinated in ajwain, was good too; maybe a little overcooked, but I'd rather have it over than under. The salmon tikka was actually a bit fishy for me; that dish came home with us in a to-go box. To give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe I'm just not used to ordering seafood in an Indian restaurant. (Pffff, it's not like India is anywhere near water ;-)) Jk. .....Then again, Austin is nowhere near water... Hmm.) The tandoori chicken, salmon tikka, and ajwaini shrimp all came on the same sizzling plate, and there were two of each. The lamb bhuna was hardy and very well spiced-- maybe a little over spiced for me (not hot spice, just spice spice), but still very good and my husband loved it. He scarfed most of it down. The saag paneer (green spinach and paneer cheese) was faaaantastic. Oh, and what I thought was naan turned out to be onion kulcha-- delicious nonetheless. I have to be honest, we didn't touch the tosi-tosa cucumber salad or the mint raita yogurt. We just couldn't spare the room. We also skipped on dessert. Both the host and our soft-spoken server were very good at keeping our water glasses full throughout the night. And although a couple of the items may have not been absolutely perfect to me, I can't deny that it was an explosion of Indian flavor that I've been hankering for for weeks and any imperfections were overlooked with the help of the couple of drinks I had before we left the house. On the car ride home, I remember saying, "That was sooo good... I wish I was still eating it." And my husband said, "we need to eat there more often and support places like that!" Two very drunkenly candid remarks.

WOW. Just... WOW. My husband and I came in not sure what to expect, but let me just say we left happy and satisfied. Truly a deal for $15 ($4.95 lunch buffet and $6.95 dinner buffet for a limited time!). I started with a nice little assortment of veggies with a tamarind chutney sauce. Very sweet and tangy (my kind of thing). The rice pilaf was cooked perfectly. It complemented rather well with the tikka masala and bombay aloo. The bombay aloo is my all-time favorite. Very delicious. The coconut cabbage was pretty great, as well. If you're a vegetarian, this place is great at accommodating your preferences. The service was very welcoming and they always made sure our drinks were full and there wasn't a mess at our table. High fives for that! We ended our meal with their mango pudding. I swear, it has to be pure mango blended into a pudding concoction. I didn't taste anything else other than pure mango flavor. And it was the NATURAL kind of mango, no artificial nothing. It was like biting into a freshly picked mango... uh-may-zing. Great palate cleanser, too! I will definitely be coming back for dinner (hoping to see the korma then!) and future meals. I'm a fan! PS If you come for lunch, try to get here right when they open (11am). We left at 11:50am and there was already a wait. Avoid that lunch rush!

Nice ambience, comfy, warm, and clean feeling.

When I walked into Tandoori Lounge, I was immediately transported back to my time in India. The atmosphere is sultry and seductive. You are drawn in my the dimly lit restaurant with warm soothing colors. You hear this soft intoxicating music as you take in these tiny table lamps. We were all in! I met a Yelp friend for dinner that I had not seen for quite some time. It was great catching up! As you walked in, you could smell a hint of the aroma of spices coming from the kitchen. Is it possible that everything you eat or drink is exceptional? Can service be at the highest possible level? Yes and Yes! We ordered the onion kulcha and garlic naan as appetizers. They were fresh, hot, soft and super flavorful. You could taste the onions in the kulcha and the garlic was pronounced in the garlic naan. We both ordered the lamb/goat marsala (medium for me and mild for my friend). The entrée was an explosion of flavors in your mouth...so good! The entrée was rich and enjoyable to eat without being heavy. It came with basmati rice where the kernels did not stick to each other. The rice was airy and fluffy. My friend ordered an Indian beer. When in India, Indian beer is a staple. I ordered a lemon drop martini. This was the best martini I have had in a very long time. Shamu, the bartender, came over to our table to explain what other martinis he could make that were not on the menu. The Lemon Drop martini was ice cold (loved that), smooth and perfectly blended. Shamu said that the glass was first chilled before the martini was poured. Drinking narvana... Riya, our server, was so sweet and kind. She was meticulous in serving our table - water constantly refilled, lemons delivered and food strategically placed on the table. Riya suggested our entrée as the most popular dish. We absolutely understand why. I am not sure why we have never eaten at Tandoori. I definitely will be returning when I am back in the South part of the city.

My order: Sizzling tikka with Paneer Meen polichathu Madurai parota with veg salna The paneer looked great, presentation was amazing but it did not have any salt! It was not consumable without the side chutney but that was running and not thick in consistency. The meen polichathu was so bitter and gave me a puke. It also had blood stains so the fish wasn't prepped well. The parota was alright not bad but the salna was average. We raised a complaint but not sure if they bothered nor they even understood what our issue was. They offered us not to pay but still we wanted to pay for at least one dish. This just reminded that I had already ordered here on DoorDash and the taste was horrible. It just slipped out of my mind and visited again. To the management: Your ambiance needs work. It's full , boring and not clean Replace the chefs with authentic ones. .. but guess what? We drove 30 minutes, with the kids, reached there at 11:30a, but no one had even opened the truck yet. They drove up a bit later, shocked to find us waiting (though we had just confirmed with them on the phone 30min prior and their listed time is 11:30a), told us they needed some additional time to unpack the food from their car and setup the truck. Close to noon, they asked us our order again, once again saying it'll just be 5-10 minutes max. At 12:30p, we received our two plates of Idlis. They closed the window so we couldn't even request a status check in between. Thank goodness we had carried snacks with us for the kids. We were curious to try more items on the menu but afraid of the long wait times and inaccurate communication to risk it. Though the freshness of the Idlis is much appreciated, and the sambhar was tasty, this kind of customer experience makes it nearly impossible for us to return. If they had let us know at 11am that they couldn't serve food before 12-12:30p, we would've planned accordingly. Additionally, parking isn't easy here.
