I don't do a lot of fast food stops, so this is definitely one I'd recommend! Everything was fresh and the service was good!

Tasty and nutritious. Fresh poke. I would definitely eat here again. The dressing is good and the ingredients are fresh.

My original review is in the photo. My response to Corelife's response: I appreciate you responding. What I got was consistently less than 2oz and I was specifically told by that location 1.5 oz is your serving. So there may be some further training this group needs. That said, I have another point. I have cook and eat a lot of chicken, and I literally weigh it to balance my macros. I have never seen it cook down by 25-50% which what your response is claiming. I have not seen beef cook down that much either, if it's grass fed. There just is not enough here for this to be worthwhile. So I'm keeping the two star. If I was a vegan or vegetarian, it's a great resource. It's not for someone who cares to maintain their muscle mass however. I do appreciate the offer of the credit though.

Spicy ginger steak rice noodle broth bowl

What a nice change of pace in the world of restaurants. We stopped by looking for something healthy and delicious and we found it here at CoreLife Eatery. I had the ginger steak and rice noodle broth bowl and it hit the spot! I appreciate they don't over-do it with too many ingredients. The broth was very warming and not overly salted. The veggies and steak were great as well. I loved the house made hot sauce they have by the silverware, it was a great extra kick to the bowl. My wife had the steak, bacon, and blue cheese salad and said it was really good. My son had the kids chicken and rice noodle bowl with a creamy tomato sauce over it. They did put a bit much sauce on it, but the sauce was really tasty! If you're looking for something a little different with lots of choices and healthy to boot, you should stop by!

I love the concept, healthy-build-your-own bowls, in a nice fast casual atmosphere. I really appreciate having the option for something fast that is still healthy. I have been here 3 times now and I just can't say I really like the taste of anything I've had. I tried build-your-own, blah. I tried the chicken Cobb salad, ok, probably my favorite of the 3, and the new Korean BBQ bowl - also kinda blah and needed something that I just can't put my finger on. The price point is also too high in my opinion for what you get. Good food is expensive, yes, but veggies actually are really cheap and their meat isn't very good anyway. So I don't understand why a bowl is $10-$11. I think if it was more in the $7-$8 range I might eat here more often.

mushroom and roasted tofu broth bowl

I really like the premise of this BYOB (build your own bowl) place in the Summit, however it did not live up to my expectations. A friend and I went on a Wednesday at 7 and I was surprised that it was pretty dead inside. There is a pretty large seating area, and there were maybe 2 or 3 other tables occupied. CoreLife is counter-service, so you can choose from a selection of salads, grain bowls, or broth bowls; or choose a base and create your own. I chose the "sriracha ginger roasted tofu" green bowl, and my friend had the "shitake mushroom and roasted tofu" broth bowl. My salad wasn't awful...I just can't say I'd be jumping up and down to go there again. I would much rather go to the whole foods salad bar thats nearby and spend my $8 there. The tofu was very chewy and the other toppings on the salad were pretty minimal, so I felt like I was chomping on kale with dressing (which was the saving grace of the salad). My friend ended up getting a to-go container for her soup to take home, so she could add some seasoning and heat it, as it was lukewarm when served and seasonless- per her report. The dining area itself seemed dirty...not all tables had been wiped down and there were a lot of gnats flying around...just not the best atmosphere. I did like that it posted the nutrition info on the menu, so its easier to choose healthy options. Hopefully CoreLife can step up their game!

I want to like this place. I really do, but we had some issues that made wanting to come back to this place really hard. I was our first visit, so we we're not really sure how it worked. Just so you know, it's like Panera and subway had a tofu baby. Healthy soups and salad/power bowls and almost everything has kale in it. After looking at the menu boards along the entrance, I decided on the tuna poke fire bowl. Spicy tuna. This was EVERYONE'S first time making it. They asked me if I wanted all the ingredients in it. Um, yeah. Whatever it comes with, but they did know and had to look at the recipe cards behind the counter. When my friend orders, this is where things start going wrong. He wanted the small chicken and rice noodle bone broth bowl. To me it sounded like it could be really good, like my favorite pho restaurant, or it was going to be bland. He asked for it without kale, but add mushrooms. The counter guy said we could make one substitution for free, but the next was forty cents. He seriously went on for a couple minutes despite me saying it was fine, but we didn't make ANY other changes. We watched them steam the bowl to cook the veggies and heat up the chicken. Then the girl added the veggie broth, which I should point out is not bone broth considering veggies don't have bones. We get to the register and order 2 drink. My poke bowl, his small noodle bowl and 2 drinks came up to over $25. Seriously?!? This better be amazing. We tried a couple lemonades before settling on the green tea apple cider concoction that probably had way more sugar than I needed, but it really was tasty. The low sugar option lemon, ginger, honey was not as good, with it being bitter and too gingery for me. One of the drink dispensers broke and fell in to my cup. I went to the counter and the girl pulled the piece out of my cup and went to fix it. I didn't fix it AND I didn't get a new cup. So I had some girl who's fingers had just been on her phone reach into my cup. *Shakes head* Meanwhile, we sit down and I start on my tuna fire bowl. It was tasty. Not sure what sauces are on it, but it was tasty. My friend however, looked at his bowl and I could tell he wasn't happy. He asked me to try it. I tried the broth. It tasted like warm water. Seriously, this had no flavor what so ever. I bring him some salt and he salts and tastes and salts some more and tastes. After doing that three times, I think he gave up. I offered to let them know that he wasn't happy with his meal, but he wasn't in the mood to deal with that so he just ate the salty water bowl. I liked my bowl and some of the drinks. The people behind the counter didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. Some were playing on their phones. To me, it's not worth spending that kind of money on the hassle of it. Give it a try if you want and my your experience be better than mine.

Korean BBQ bowl with Mac n Cheese side
Catrina T.

I love love love this place! It's quick and easy for a healthy meal. I especially love the location because it's neighbors with quite a few fitness studios at The Summit. I usually have a hard time picking out what I want to eat because I want to order everything off the menu. The most recent time I went, I got the Korean BBQ bowl with a side of Mac n Cheese. The bowl was freshly made right before my eyes, and they fried up a fresh egg to go on top of the bowl. It had a nice spicy kick to it, as well. The Mac n Cheese they had was on another level. It was gluten free, and might have been some of the best Mac I've ever tasted. It had a sharp cheddar flavor with a nice crusty top. SO good. I ordered the Bowl + Side option, where the bowl is a little bit smaller, and I thought it was the perfect portion size. I was comfortably full after finishing the meal, and the price was reasonable as well. 10/10 would recommend eating your next meal here!

Ginger steak & rice noodle bowl with kale, carrots, beets & peppers delicious
Karen D.

My brother recently was raving about CoreLife and stopped by on recent visit to Lexington at the new Summit at Fritz Farm. Lots of fresh local, healthy food, is the core of CoreLife Eatery. I ordered a Ginger Steak and Rice Noodles bowl, which watched the team members make right in front of me, pulling fresh kale and arugula with the rice noodles, then I ended up changing a few of the ingredients - carrots, beets (I love beets), fresh peppers and ginger with the miso sesame ginger dressing on the side. The bowl was very good, everything was fresh, flavorful and looking forward to their expansion, would love to have a location in Cincinnati soon.

We were greeted and seated promptly inside. Our hostess and server were both friendly and engaged. They have outdoor seating, as well, but it was way too hot for that. We got water and menus right away. They serve Breakfast/Brunch from open to close (9 am to 3 pm, dinner hours Fri, Sat) as well as lunch items and the menu looks good all around. My wife got the Fried Green Tomato BLT. I got Brunch on a Bun (fried egg, a large sausage patty, pepperjack cheese, bacon jam, on a toasted pretzel bun). Both came with Tots that were crispy and hot. She said the BLT was great and it was large and a lot of food. My sandwich was hot and delicious, but really messy to eat with hands. Might be best as a knife & fork dish. Either way, it was a lot of food and I took home part of it for later. Both dishes were $17 and worth it. We look forward to going back as this experience was flawless.

The…read morenew location was beautifully curated and had a cozy, but upscale vibe that we're used to seeing at OBC Kitchen. They even have cozy blankets available for their fireside, outdoor dining spots; a very cute and clever touch. The bar beautifully highlights their bourbon selection which is as expansive as you would expect being in the heart of The Bluegrass As expected, the cocktails were amazing! We tried a few of their seasonal selections, a classic cocktail, and a Four Roses Small Batch neat. All were fantastic! The gin cocktail "he who shall not be named" was well balanced, bright, and overall easy to drink-a crowd pleaser! The milk and sugar (classic cocktail) and the pumpkin espresso martini were coffee-forward, not too sweet options that made for a perfect "dessert" drink without feeling like you were drinking syrup. If you want a fun, new take on some classic cocktails- OBC is never the wrong choice! Now- the food! We had the Parker's Roll- they came out piping hot in a cute cast iron skillet, a cute nod to the KY Southern cooking that I grew up with. The rosemary had just enough presence to be different/modern but was not in your face, which was a bonus for me-but if you're hoping for super flavor forward rolls these may not be for you. Not pictured, my husband's caprese chicken- it was perfectly seared with just the right amount of crispness, the marinara and caprese salad on the side were the perfect amount of freshness and brightness to lighten up the dish. The short ribs and cheesy grits felt like home- a great dish for a rainy, fall night. No complaints here! We also split the hashbrown au gratin- it was yummy, the jalapeño was pepper first, heat second and had just the right amount of freshness and heat to make an otherwise "classic" dish just a little bit more special. SERVICE! While this is a new-to-us location, OBC is a well established, well executed restaurant and the service reflects their heritage. We were fortunate to be one of the tables that Rachel and Jake were working with tonight- Rachel was training but never missed a step and honestly, was a DELIGHT to spend the evening with. :) She was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She was not "pushy" and gave us plenty of time to just enjoy each course of our meal without being interrupted with ordering the next step. Jake (her trainer) checked in every now and then for feedback on how Rachel was doing, he was always polite and helpful but honestly, not necessary because she was amazing! We also had a few members of the bar team and "runners" check in/deliver drinks and food throughout the meal- they were all polite, timely, kind, and willing to help even if it was outside of their typical "role". Price point: for us, the meal was a little more than we would pay for "just dinner" but for a rare, parents-only, night out it was perfectly reasonable. We will probably reserve this for an "occasion" or a showcase dinner when we have friends in town BUT it is perfect for that! Overall, a great time, with great people, and great food! We're excited to have them on the north side of town!

Or maybe slip into the bar unannounced. Super friendly! As they've outgrown the Tates Creek location and are building out the new location, the website and Google conflicted on who's open and where. At the moment I'm here on TC. To make sure I knew where I was going, Grace called to confirm my reservation and the correct location. Bonus points! If you're reading this they've already moved to Turner Commons. Maybe the best fries I've ever had. Seriously! I love a fry. The thicker the better. These aren't steak fries but a healthy, house cut, seasoned to perfection. I could make a meal of of these with the dipping sides of smoked tomato ketchup (meh), lemon-garlic rosemary aioli (oh yeah), and a thai chili dipping sauce (B I N G O) $9 Cola-Braised Shirt Ribs were good. The greens with bacon, I mean, bacon, rocked better than other sides in the past. So there's a win. The scoop of grits were delicious and made for a perfect trifecta @ $33. Wanting something more refreshing yet still filling? I highly recommend the Heirloom Tomatoes/Watermelon/Burrata salad $22. You will think it's huge, and it is, but you'll clean your plate. Dessert? Well. That's bourbon, Son. OBC has an exceptional collection. Peruse options on the iPad to get hints of flavors, proofs, and costs. May I suggest the Stag Single Barrel? It's uncut, unfiltered, and a very limited batch from Buffalo Trace. It's a beauty and a beast. We LOVED our time at The Obstinate Sons! This place is a MUST TRY!…read more We were recently on a little getaway for our Anniversary, looking for a good spot to have a nice dinner. We really struck gold finding this gem of a spot!! The atmosphere is perfect! Soft lighting, not a lot of tables, not at all crowded, beautiful decor, we were very impressed from the moment we stepped in the door! Our waiter stopped by our table pretty quickly and did such a great job for our whole dining experience! He was very helpful when we asked for recommendations, and was perfectly attentive throughout our time! Several super friendly people stopped by our table over the course of our evening, the service was remarkable! Obstinate Sons keeps a small menu - I love this!! Not only does it make it easier to choose what to order, it also typically means a place does the things they offer, VERY well! This idea fit accurately with this restaurant! Every single thing we had was top notch and done so very well! We left so impressed! We started cocktails! The bar tender was excellent and had our drinks out quickly! We both ordered various Old Fashioned's, when in Rome, right?! Since we were in town for some local distillery tours, it only felt right to sample some of the local flavors - and they have a LOT of choices! Extensive bourbon list! Everything we had was superb! Next we went in for an appetizer, the deviled eggs! They rotate how they make them, variating flavors and ingredients! I can't remember exactly what flavors they had the night we were in, but they were delicious! Bacon and horseradish were for sure elements! Loved these!! I am a sucker for a good salad so when I saw that they offered a wedge salad with their "own memorable bleu cheese" I knew I had to try one! It was extremely memorable as I'm still thinking about it weeks later! ;) The roasted heirloom tomatoes were exceptional, tiny little guys packed with SO much flavor! I could have used a few more of those, they complimented the salad so perfectly! The toasted onions were also superior! This was a really great salad!! Next up entrees with beers! :) We tried a couple of beers we had never had before, the Bearded Iris Homestyle and the Country Boy Cougar Bait - both amazing and refreshing!! We ordered the Prime Pork Chop which came with the most delectable risotto, wow! So good! We also ordered the Sole Piccata which was quite possibly the best fish entree I've ever tasted! The sauce was perfection and the fish was perfectly prepared with the best panko parmesan crust, HIGHLY recommend!! We also tried a side of the Smashed Roasted Garlic Herb Red Skins Potatoes, very good! The sides serve 3 so they go a long way! We had too much to finish!! ;) Lest you think I'm finished here, I haven't even gotten to the best part! DESSERT!!! We don't often order dessert out - we don't usually save room and it's just not usually our thing. Because we were celebrating our anniversary, I guess we felt extra on this particular evening because we decided to try some dessert. After some great explanation and recommendations by our server we landed on the bread pudding. This dish also varies regularly with the chef's discretion. They have different flavor profiles that rotate, if I understood correctly. On this particular evening the waiter explained the bread pudding feature: I wish I could remember the way he described it, word for word. I'm struggling to remember the details but I believe it was a chocolate bread pudding with a caramel bourbon sauce. Maybe something to do with Kahlua sauce. You'll have to forgive my memory, I just don't know all that he said - however, what I DO know and am QUITE certain of, this was very literally THE BEST dessert I have EVER tasted in my life! EXTREME delight! I literally told my husband I felt like my life was complete after finishing this dessert, it was THAT incredible! My advice on this restaurant - Do not skip a bourbon based cocktail and DO NOT SKIP DESSERT! ;) The entire meal was an honest absolute pleasure, but those two things stand out for me about our meal! If there were a yelp rating higher than 5 stars, The Obstinate Sons would deserve it - EXCEPTIONAL PLACE!!! Make this your next choice!

It is good food, I got the shells and it was good, but nothing I would go out of my way to have again. Cons: - Somewhat of a small menu (both food and cocktail); I think (for me) expanding the cocktail menu would be a very feasible upgrade for this place. - It's toss up on prime time weekends how long you'll have to wait for a table since its a pretty small place
