Great experience, fresh food, and amazing workers. This is easily one of my Lexington favorites.

Ordered online for pick up. We ordered an appetizer sampler, two byo entrees, a dessert. The pick up was easy. The app was good. The entrees were both burnt. The dessert was missing part of it. I did not complain but received a text with a survey after and I shared feedback. Then I received a code for $20 off my next order which was nice. I tried to order online for pick up again and the code was for in store only even though it didn't say that any where. and it timed out. I called the store to explain and try to speak to a manager so I can place a pick up order but they said the manager left for the day. At 5pm on a Sunday. Kinda strange. Its just not worth the money. We spent over $60 and cannot even speak with a manager to make it right. You're better off going to get mall food tbh. read more

This was first time and last time ordering food from this restaurant. When I got there I had to wait there about 4 to 5 mint. No one never acknowledge that I was even there. And there was waiter that was helping other people at their table , but never said someone will be with you. I finally had to go to the kitchen door and tell them I had a pick up order. When the young lady came up I told her I had an order and she went back to get it. But she didn't bring it back a guy did. The guy didn't open his mouth and say a word to me. When I got home I notice that they had given me someone else food along with mines. I order Korean Quesadilla and the Sesame Gallic Chicken . The quesadilla was smelled burnt and had burnt pieces on it. The sesame garlic chicken had burnt pieces in it also that I had to pick out. I wasted $26 dollars I will never go there again. read more

I ordered Mongolian grill for carry out. I ordered steak, shrimp and chicken bowl. I had kung pao sauce. I do like you can order several veggies. The bad part is when I got my food home the meat tasted old. I was very disappointed because me and I family use to here years ago and we loved. There's nothing like some good Mongolian food, and BD's knows how to do it. BD's is no longer in southeast Virginia, but on my visit to Lexington, Kentucky, I was blessed to spend time at one with my brother and nephew. So it works like this: take a seat, and the server will bring you menus and your drink order. You can choose from menu items or build your own plate. If you make your plate, off to the item bat to "build your plate." The item bar has your meat, veggies, and sauces and don't forget the egg. Pile it high cause it shrinks when cooked. Next, it is off to be cooked by a BD master chef. They will take your plate and cook it with a hot evo griddle. You have a choice of rice or noodles. The master chef adds the sauce you picked up at the item bar, mixes in the egg (if you got it), and then serves it up on a clean plate. The food is good, the service is great and value is not bad. My boyfriend wrote this review and I've never in 5 years seen him not finish a plate of food at a restaurant: I had the unfortunate experience of dining at this restaurant recently and I must say it was beyond gross. To start, they sat us at a table that was sticky and clearly not cleaned properly. It was off-putting and made us question the cleanliness of the rest of the restaurant. The drinks had maybe a splash of alcohol, but that was expected with how cheap they were. Our food was at the same time burnt and undercooked. My girlfriend literally threw up after we left. I'm surprised more people don't walk out of there with food poisoning. Lastly, everything in the bathroom was wet. Nothing like touching the handles and knobs not knowing if someone just wiped pee on everything. Overall, my experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing and I will not be returning. I like this place. If you get something you don't like... it's your ownfault. The food quality is above average and very fresh in most instances. The rice is very tender and tastes good. The service is minimal so that cuts your chances of an issue. No problem for me. The decor is woody and kinda' dark but hey the show at the grill is bright, warm, and happy. I mostly come here for my birthday. I like to get a bowl of vegetables mixed with pasta and fish. It is often accompanied by rice and tortillas. Depending on my mood, I top it off with different variety of sauces. It's pretty cool to watch the food being prepared by the grillers. I came to BDs today for the first time in awhile. My sister was in town and had never been to BDs so we decided to go. BDs is a Mongolian grill. You start by grabbing you bowl and heading up to the buffet to pick out your meats and noodles. They have tons of meat options... anything from scallops and crab to chicken, pork and steak and even some specialty marinated options like fajita steak and sriracha chicken. Next you add you veggies, everything from water chestnuts and broccoli to pineapple and fajita peppers. Lastly you arrive at the sauce and spice station where the options can overwhelm you in a good way! Next you make you way to the grill where it's all cooked right in front of you on a large round grill. Today I picked out fajita flavors and spices! It turned out wonderful. If you aren't sure what flavors go well together they do have sample recipe cards that are helpful. They also have a salad bar but I'm always full off one bowl and never make it to salad! I went there for an extended birthday dinner on a Friday. The salads were fresh! The soups, tomato soup and chicken tortilla, were ok.... the tomato soup was like a thick Salan/curry n greasy in texture. Now for the food... each person gets a small bowl for the soup, a platter for the salad and then a mid sized bowl for the food items. The idea is: go n get your meats from the meat counter.. they are raw... Then get your vegetables.. and lastly, pick your sauce that you want to cook it in and take it to the grill to be cooked. It's a hibachi styled grill and they cook 8 orders at any given time. The guys doing the stir fry keep you entertained with their cheers n movements and style of dishing things up! We also tried the starter platter with: Jalapeño mozzarella sticks: they were awesome Crab Rangoon's: awesome Egg rolls: good enough For dessert, we ordered a sundae.. it was not bad.. 2 people can share; we also ordered the fried Oreos with vanilla ice cream.. was reallllly good! Now the problems due to which I'm giving them 4 stars: 1. It took them 10 mins to seat us 2. I can't say that I've been to place quite like this. It was a great experience and reasonably priced for the food you get. You get a bowl. Yes, a bowl. Fill it with everything you want to be cooked. I mean everything!! Stack it up! It's all raw ingredients from veggies to proteins to seafood. Grab your sauces and head to the cooking station to hand over your bowl of goodness and watch as they cook it up in a unique hibachi style way. I don't know it this place is anywhere other than Kentucky, buts it's worth that stop if you're ever in this area and are hungry! We left with multiple to go containers all from that one bowl after we ate some at the restaurant. Worth the $18 for sure!! read more

I came here with my mom on a Sunday afternoon after church. My mother prefers buffets so she doesn't have to wait for her food, and well, I wanted to teach her a lesson lol. So we came here, but not only was she surprised, she enjoyed every bite and didn't complain one bit. Which is always refreshing! I made several bowls as I had a gift certificate to spend, and took some food to go. I usually tend use the sirloin meat and various veggies. But next time I will try this: Green beans, sliced potatoes, onions and green peppers and then add steak on top. Take 2 ladles of A1 sauce by the grill and ask them to put some Bds seasoning on top of it all. But if you go with chicken then I would use kang pao sauce or teriyaki along with your choose of veggies. Was told this is one of the best mixes, so I will definitely try that next time. The food was good. I am not fond of buffets and sometimes the food being cooked next to you gets in your food but other than that we enjoyed our visit. Waitress was nice and came by our table often to make sure we didn't need anything.. They give you a bowl and you go up to a buffet and pick the kind of meats you want then go to the next buffet and pick your veggies, third buffet is the sauces. Then you take them to the cooks and they cook it in front of you while you wait. Margarita are great... Food is great.. best part is each person fills their own bowl which means everyone gets exactly what they want. You pay by the bowl. You can pile as much as you want on the bowls as it can hold. This was definitely an interesting experience. I was caught off guard with serving myself raw meat to be cooked. It had flavor and lots of different ingredients, and it wasn't like anything I've ever had before. Service was good for the most part, I do wish our server would of checked on us more rather than flirting with the manager. A good pay for your money if you are starving. I usually go for the unlimited bowl which is pretty decent. There are other menu items which are average. You can also go for a single bowl which is 1-2 dollars less than the unlimited one. I would suggest going for the unlimited one than the single bowl serving. You go to the food section with your bowl, and take as much food as you want. Chicken, Beef, Sausage, perpperoni, Fish and they have a variety of meat options to choose from. They also have a variety of vegetarian food items that you can add to your bowl too. Then you add oils and other sauces. They are arranged indicating different spice levels. Then you take the bowl to the center place, where they cook it in front of you and serve it to you hot. An interesting experience. read more

Our (my husband and I) first time here, the staff uses COVID-19 safety precautions as expected. * They do have plexiglass sat up in front of all the food and the staff (while wearing gloves) will grab whatever type of meat, noodles and veggies that you want and sauce to use. The staff will bring your food to you after it's cooked. * Here's the problem, the system they use to bring your "correct" food to you is with a sticky note. We had to have our food remade 3 different times, we received food from someone else's table. A major problem I can see happening with this system they are using is if someone is allergic to shellfish, peanuts or a certain sauce and the food being mixed up with someone else's would make an awful dinner. The system they are using now needs a major makeover. The staff is super sweet and our waitress was very attentive, but at one point we considered just walking out and leaving. I can understand being super busy and messing up someone food maybe once but 3 different time is a lot and it was not busy at all when we were there. * We paid $40 for both our meals and stayed even though our food was mixed up 3 different times and the manager did not take either of our meals off the bill. The only thing that wasn't messed up was our drinks, salads and plain white rice. Needless to say it was our first and last time going here. read more

I had to look up reviews to figure out what to order. They have a neat concept where you can make your own bowl of noodles, rice, lettuce wrap, or choose an all you can eat option. I've been by here several times over the years and today I finally went. Wasn't too sure what to expect but from what people have told me it was a good place to eat. I didn't have to wait long to be seated....luckily I arrived ahead of the lunch rush. Once seated my host gave me the run down of how it works. I started out with some shrimp, noodles, mushrooms, onions, water chestnuts with king pao sauce. I took it up to the grill and watched them do their magic. I got my plate and sit down. I was pleasantly surprised how well it tasted. I had purchased the unlimited option so after I had finished I made my way up for a second time. This time I tried the pork with several different additions. Again I took my bowl up to the grill. To make a long story short, I love the food here and the atmosphere is very friendly. My only complaint was that the second time I was waiting for my food I did see a cockroach on the counter. Not too sure if it was meant as an added feature of the restaurant or an unwelcome guest, either way management needs to address this issue. read more

My husband and I visited here on Friday 8 Sept 2023, (the day before he was to fly back out to Germany). The food here was very good. However the visit got off to a really rocky start. The "so called hostess", unfortunately I did not get her name, was absolutely atrocious. She was working there at 8:30pm. She was not at her station when we arrived, which is fine. I would like to think she was doing something productive. When she did show up she did not greet us, she simply said, with a very dry unfriendly tone, "two?" Where upon I said "we actually have reservations", and proceeded to give her my name, she looked at her schedule and said my name and 8:30? follow me. My husband and I were both completely appalled. My husband even more so because he is German and has always been impressed with the very friendly and polite American service that businesses always offer. However this seems to be more and more a thing of the past. Due to this I am not sure we will ever pay patronage to this restaurant again. Also they advertise their $6.00 margarita's but they should tell their guest they are about the size of a baby's sippy cup. If this was not bad enough I did not taste any tequila at all, then I saw in very small writing that one could add a shot of tequila for $2.00 so I am under the impression that they are tricking people in to buying tiny virgin margarita's. Which I am not cool with at all. It seems more and more restaurant's are doing these types of things, and if one does not read the very fine print, and ask a ton of question's, you think you are getting a deal but you are actually being ripped off left, right and center. I must also add, although it was a Friday night it was very few patron's in when we arrived, so that is not an excuse one can use for the lack of hospitality the hostess showed us. She was by no means overwhelmed with customers. Lastly (at least) the women's bathroom needs a make over in the worst way. It looks like you walked back in time to the 60s. For about $1.50 more you can also add a one trip salad and soup bar to your meal. Rice, tortillas, and lettuce (for wraps) are also included. The stir fry bar has some good selections. I especially enjoy the shrimp, scallops, and crab, but if you prefer there is also chicken, beef, tofu, noodles, and many other choices. If you enjoy a good stir fry you will enjoy this restaurant. read more

Fun place for dinner with friends. For $15 (a current special) they will bring you a bowl salad plate and soup bowl. In the bowl you put raw food from a food bar set up. There is chicken steak crab fish etc. Noodles pasta vegetables etc then spices of every variety. Once you have your selections in the bowl you place your bowl on a counter in front of a round grill where a couple of chefs pour your food onto the grill and cook it while you watch. They add your sauces and spices to the meat and vegetables then plate your food and hand it to you. Currently you can go back as often as you want. The price also includes a salad and soup bar. Waiters were great restaurant was clean and spacious. Plenty of parking and located right off the interstate. They also have a dessert menu but we did not order dessert. It was fun. Hit this place for supper. There is nothing like this up in PA where I live so I take very opportunity whenever I come across a Mongolian grill type restaurant. Service was good. My server was attentive and gave me a good rundown of how the build-your-own bowl worked. I'm not a fan of the one-bowl at a time system. I prefer to fill two bowls with a nice selection of meats and veggies, grab some sauces and spices and get all of my food cooked up in one go. My first time through the line went well, the food was cooked nicely and I enjoyed it. My second time through the grill cooks were distracted and let my food get burnt on one side from not being flipped often enough. It was still edible, but only just. The grill surface needs a good cleaning, the cooks weren't doing a good job scraping it down after each meal was served causing a buildup of burnt food and such. They also sprayed oil down before each meal so my food ended up kind of oily. A well maintained cooking surface doesn't need that much oil. read more

If you're one of the few unfortunate enough to not enjoy BD's, it could only be for one of two reasons: 1. You don't know what you like to eat. 2. You suck at cooking and don't realize it. I have had bad service at BD's on occasion, but never at this particular location. That being said, I just wish I lived closer to it so it could have more chances to try to disappoint me unsuccessfully. The meat selection is awesome, especially the ribeye and seafood (shrimp, scallops, calamari, tilapia). Lots of variety on the vegetable and sauce & spice bar too. Plus they're constantly adding new stuff just to mix it up. read more
