CoreLife Eatery is Western New York's healthy chain that has been growing as of late. I made my second ever stop on Sunday (1st to the newer Amherst location) and brought 2 of my out of state friends who wanted something healthy for lunch. The place was pretty empty when we arrived which was a good thing since we were all super hungry. Thanks to me ordering the wrong thing I stumbled a little bit but was guided through what I actually wanted to order. I ended up getting a steak salad with corn, broccoli, cucumber, sweet potato, and other various veggies added on top. What made this bowl super special? Falafel! I have no idea how, but the falafel at this place is some of the best I think I've ever had, it's unexplainable. On top of getting the steak salad I also got a cup for the tasty in-house lemonades they have. I mainly drank the watermelon lemonade they had which was absolutely delicious, but I did check out the honey and passion fruit? something like that. The steak itself was delicious and definitely the highlight of the salad (obvious, I know) but overall everything went very well together, tasted super fresh, and also tasted super delicious. So, this Core Life will hereunto be referred to as "The Better CoreLife," just as my family has "Target" and "The Better Target." Luckily both "betters" are in the same plaza. This CoreLife is very consistent, has clean spaces, and lets me work on my lesson plans when I am clearly just milking that kale for time (because I'm never gonna eat that kale, if I'm being honest.) Also, once when there was an issue with a take out order, the manager called me (but I ignored it, because I don't answer my phone. Ever.) Had a really bad experience that ruined my day! I ended up just thrown away my orders. We ordered the Korean BBQ pork warm rice bowls. First they said they don't have any pork, fine, I'll sub with other protein and then they said there's no Kimchee either. Okay, I take that too.... then comes the line cook, throwing a handful(probably 5-6 little pieces) of steak on the grill and start frying the eggs. I noticed the grill is super filthy and the eggs and steaks were full of the filths from the unclean grill. I asked the server whats wrong with the eggs and how long since they cleaned the grill. She turned to the line cook and he seems quite unhappy about my inquiry and showing me some attitude. I requested to change the eggs politely and as he did it the second time, its still filthy and he broke the egg yolks all over the dish. We felt disgusted and just throw everything away and left the place. I will not be coming back again. I have been here a few times now, the other day we received some amazing coupons in the mail from them so of course we went again. It was buy 1 meal get 1 free! This time I tried the spicy Thai noodle bowl, pretty good though I enjoy the steak bowls better. But everything is great, it's a nice healthy meal and they have very good customer service. Salad is healthy. So I have been to this place twice now. First time having the Korean chicken salad and second time the ginger sriacha (can't find a spelling that my spell check likes). So there's green bowls and grain bowls which both seem to sound alike as much as they look alike. The flavors were good as far as salads go. And it did seem much more healthy than other lunch choices. The cafeteria style line also moves quickly. If you are ever in, or driving through Columbus, Ohio, there is a similar place with good salads called Chop5. I had the unsweetened iced tea which was also good. And healthy. read more

This is the type of food our body needs, it's what our body craves. CoreLife is doing it right! They have an array of bowls; grain, salad, or broth and they have freshly squeezed lemonade with different healthy additives. I had the Spicy Chicken Thai bowl (i added broth), the Steak and Ginger bowl (my boyfriends pick) all paired with a brussel sprout medley. Also dabbled in lemonade we tried coconut water fruit punch and apple green tea. We left very satisfied and vowed to make it our stop at least once a week. I'm so ecstatic that they opened a healthy food chain in the Buffalo area! It's nice to have a go-to place for a quick, healthy lunch or dinner. I like the fact that they have preset options to choose from or you can build your own bowl. My favorite preset options are the Spicy Ginger Steak Rice Noodle Broth Bowl, Steak Bacon Blue Green Bowl and the new Coconut Curry Chicken Soup Broth Bowl. I LOVE the Fruit Punch beverage which is coconut water mixed with fresh fruit juices. This location opened a few months ago and I've been here several times. I usually order from their App and run in and pick it up with it waiting for me when I arrive. I have also dined in or took it to go ordering on the spot. When they first opened they were right on point not missing a beat. Lately I've noticed that they are slipping. On two different occasions when I ordered from the App, I was missing the bacon and gorgonzola on the Steak, Bacon and Blue Green Bowl and the cilantro and almonds on the Spicy Ginger Steak Rice Noodle Broth Bowl. One time as I was ordering inside on the spot they left two items off and if I wasn't paying close attention then I wouldn't have noticed. Needless to say I'm glad I had the opportunity to call it out on the spot. I'm hoping the staff pay more attention to completing an order correctly and efficiently. Bright and cheery venue - feels like a cafeteria in a way. The menu is tad bit wonky to work through - I would advise looking AHEAD of time to ensure you understand all your options - there are MANY. I did a build your own bowl with purple rice and the "spicy" steak. I had quite a few chewy pieces but they were all still edible and I realize this is not 5-Star steak joint. I was able to add a few veggies included in the price of the dish. I added avocado (extra$) and side of lime vinaigrette dressing. I am glad I asked for it on the side - it's VERY strong in flavor. I didn't realize they had a TON of cool lemonades/flavored teas on the far side of the dining room - I would advise you cruise there first to see what the flavors of the day are BEFORE you jump in line to order. They give you a cup at the register you can refill. They also offer some fizzy/flat waters and bottled pop at the check out. I appreciated that it was all served in a "dine-in" dish that would be washed and reused (this is a fast service place so that's a nice touch) ... be prepared to bus your own stuff. I paid about $16 for my dish and I wanted it to feel worth it but I think I could have prepared the same meal at home for much less and I would have chosen a better cut of meat. I have been to both Buffalo area locations and both are good. I have tried many different menu options including the build your own bowls. I have also used the order ahead option. My orders have been accurate each time. This is a nice option for healthier fast casual. Every time I go it seems to be busy but they get you through the line in a timely manner. The prices are fair for the quality of ingredients. I also like their many different drink options especially the beet lemonade and ginger lemonade. read more

My husband and I enjoy salads here at least once or twice a month. The quality of the fresh ingredients here has always been on point. Having someone prepare it for you versus a salad bar keeps you honest with your portions, which is one of my husband's favorite things about this place too. He's a big guy, but still finds a big bowl salad to be satisfying. I deducted a star for cost. I do a build-your-own salad with a lot of stuff, and feel jipped that things like shredded carrots, cucumbers, corn and onions count towards your four free toppings at all. Basic things like that should be standard, as many as you want, and sure, limit more premium toppings to a certain count before extras cost more. Even so, I load up with all the healthy goodies I want, pay dearly for it (usually ends up @ $11 or $12 bucks), and enjoy every delicious bite only slightly sticker-shock disgruntled. read more

I've been a couple times and it must just be me, because some of my friends rave about CoreLife, but my experiences have not left me impressed. It's like healthy fast food and just something about my few experiences here do not make me want to go back. The menu is large, many selections lots of variety. I suppose that's what you want to provide your patrons - options. I do not do well with options especially when my options are items that i am not quite familiar with. Going down the line the workers behind the counter haven't really been receptive to questions and/or knowledgeable enough about the products they are serving to answer my inquiries. You are rushed through the line- which is nice to get in and out. So I guessed and hopped for the best and I just wasn't satisfied. The atmosphere and place is spacious which is great because it's been packed every time i've been there. It's modern and trendy inside. Very loud. And you pick up on the fast food vibes when you try to find a clean and empty table to sit at. They do have an app to go along with the experience. You can order ahead. They give different incentives if you refer a friend or it's your birthday. You can't combine cash and the incentive you must pay with the credit card tied to the app if you're interested in using one of your rewards. I think it's great to have healthy options. Core life is trying to make healthy quality food more accessible and quick paced, which I really respect. They have a great variety of options as well. They get four stars due to the lack of clarity on their menu and how the process works. Going in as a first time eater felt very overwhelming due to this. Overall, the food looked insta worthy and tasted good as well. My boyfriend and I each got different broth bowls and tried all the juices. The juices were my favorite part actually. So I've finally discovered the items that I like here at CoreLife, after a few tries. Kale is not it. Mostly because it's tough and very green in taste, and just not pleasant. I like kale, but it needs to be sauteed lightly or in a soup or something. Not just raw. Anyone who enjoys raw kale and can eat a decent amount of it really needs to have their tastes questioned. If you are not a huge fan of leafy greens, do not order anything with kale in it. Start with like baby spinach or arugula. Today I stumbled upon forbidden rice... Ummm, yes. It's delicious. Get that. I added arugula (one of my favorite greens!), balsamic soy chicken, mushrooms, peppers, almonds, and miso dressing. If you like salt, the soy chicken and miso dressing are musts. I have had other dishes from here that barely have any salt on them, and I gotta say, I literally drag a salt grinder to my table and basically salt every bite. I know, it's ridiculous, but I need salt in my life. So, the craft your own bowl is now my jam. As is anything with salt in it. And I also love the apple cider tea. It's so delicious. I'm a fan of CoreLife because I seriously believe in this concept, and want to eat healthier. This place is legit healthy. As a person who frequently eats paleo and pays attention to food sources, I can say that you can order food pretty much to match whatever dietary restrictions you have. I unfortunately can't give this place a higher rating. It's great in concept. Healthy options customizable and fresh. But two major detractors make it disappointing. Everything is suppppper bland and it's overall pretty expensive for what you get. So I got the spicy ginger steak and rice noodle beef bone broth bowl (small) for about $7. The hubby did a custom bowl and he got a base of quinoa with spicy chicken, olives, corn, edamame and garbanzo beans and an egg for a grand total of about $10 We both had to drench our stuff in sriracha to have any flavor. I think hubby put a bunch of the Thai chili lime sauce that was sitting on their utensil area along with the sriracha. I will say even tho hubby also thought the flavor was lacking he liked this place more and would go back. I on the other hand would not. If I wanted a broth based thing I'd hop over to the next plaza and get some pho anyday! As for salad and quinoa bowls I could easily make either of those at home for much less money and much more flavor!! So sadly, as good a concept as it is the execution as far as flavor just makes it a no go for me. This is probably my favorite place to have salad. You can just get the app from App Store and they give you $5 credit . If you invite your friend after they buy their first purchase you would get another $5 . They use everything fresh. Such a yumm salad. They have such cool music, free WiFi. The place is huge. Corelife is so great -- excellent addition to the boulevard consumer Square area! I ate a really healthy meal after walking around shopping and I felt so full after half of my grain bowl AND I knew I made a healthy choice! I hate to say it but this place definitely beats chipotle IMO. I love that at corelife you can take so many different routes with that you want to eat, for example I got thai chicken grain bowl that had tons of veggies and rice noodles and my roommate got a tuna pok bowl (which she has been complaining for weeks how she can't find one anywhere in buffalo so she is ecstatic to say the least). My bowl was seriously delicious and for it being right before Christmas and having tons of annoying American consumers running around everywhere the staff was AMAZING. I ordered the spicy thai chicken & rice noodles (double protein) but subbed the peppers for pickled onions & added edamame and toasted almonds for a little crunch. The "double protein" part must have got lost in translation but it ended up being the perfect ratio of chicken to veggies so no worries there! The staff is always so friendly and they never judge when you add weird things to their already awesome dishes. It's tough to get in and out in under 15min during lunch time but that just gives us more time to be indecisive about our orders. My son got the kids chicken noodle soup which he didn't eat at the restaurant cuz what 2 year old sits still to do that? But once we got home he devoured it with his brother! And they were full with some left over so a really big portion size! I almost forgot to mention the juice! I had the lemon honey ginger and it was so tasty and not too sweet which is super important! I usually ask to come here anytime we go out to eat. This used to be my favorite place to eat. I will never come here again. I walked in and I was rudely addressed And told that usually when you order ahead to step aside to the other side of the dining room which I usually eat in so I did not know. I received a large salad that was not even halfway full. I received a cup of brussels sprouts with one brussels sprout that actually looks like a brussels sprout the rest were just burnt pieces. When I asked and showed the girl the brussels sprouts she told me it was supposed to look like that which I've had the brussels sprouts there before and they were actually Brussel sprouts in the order when you order brussels sprouts.
