Today is my first time eating lunch at this food court inside City Center on 6th. As of May 2023, there are only 3 options inside this spacious food court including Corea BBQ. I decided to get a Chicken Bulgogi Doshirak lunch special for $12.95 plus tax (approximately $14) and ate it at the food court. They provide a buzzer with your order number and it will buzz once it's ready. I only waited for approximately 5-7 minutes despite the busyness during lunch. When I came forward to pick up my order, I was not expecting a full course on the doshirak. It had a mountain of chicken bulgogi pieces (marinated chicken bulgogi thigh meat), 4 banchan (sides) and a cup of purple rice with a fried egg. It also included a savory broth with bean sprouts and a pack of seaweed. The chicken was savory and tender but it the sauce was lacking in terms of quantity. I kinda wish the chicken had more sauce but it still had an umami flavor along with the sauteed green onions and carrots. However, I really enjoyed the fluffy purple rice paired with a sunny side up egg. Lastly, please be sure to put away your trays and plates and place them on the designated racks found on the sides instead of leaving them on your table. Corea BBQ is a decent place to get some quick Korean food and I'll be back again to try other items here. read more

Surprisingly, ok. In these food courts, I feel it's typically quantity and not quality. Definitely the case with Corea BBQ. I had the omelette fried rice. There were a number of other eatery, but it seems like Corea had the better Yelp reviews than other establishments. My coworker had the sashimi salad and she really liked that. The portion was huge, but not tasty. I struggled to finish it. The large egg omelette covers this ketchup fried rice with peas and carrots. The first bite was alright, but as you eat, it's like this mission to finish, not because it taste good, but because it gave you purpose. I would definitely prefer white rice over the ketchup rice. Or half white and half ketchup? To compensate, maybe some tonkatsu sauce would be what it was missing. I just tasted the tart from the ketchup and I was kinda grossed out half way in. I had the same dish as my coworker and she thought it was normal and what omelette fried rice should be. After a little pondering, totally needs pork sung and some soy sauce. Parking is good and there's 2 hour validation. I was debating between 3-4 stars, but thinking about the ketchup rice gives me shivers. I've eaten here twice. The first time was during the winter and I felt like having something hot and soupy. The rib soup sounded interesting and seemed to fit the bill. It was piping hot and looked fantastic. I forgot what the item number was, but it was around $17. I started with some of the banchan, which were run-of-the-mill and very acceptable. The soup was tasty and had some vegetables. Then I got to the big rib that in there. If you've seen my other reviews, you'll know that's sense of taste can usually detect freshness of foods, especially meats. Well, I'm here to tell you that the rib had spent a couple of days in the fridge and then plopped back into the soup. Some might be ok with that, but this was not an inexpensive dish for something ordered at a food stand. I had a few more bites since I feel bad about waste, but I couldn't finish it. It was probably not a popular dish so they don't make it daily. On a second visit, I tried the galbi (Item 1b, $16.95). It came with a side of rice and various banchan. These grilled ribs were much better! Seasoning was better than expected. I liked the bit of char as well. Plus, it was more filling than I had expected. How good something is depends on a few conditions. Sometimes it's your surroundings, or the company you eat with. Sometimes it's just the time and place. Would a bowl of Pho taste as good during the summer as it does when you are freezing in the winter? Would a dirty dog in LA taste as good in the middle of the day? For lunch, I would say that Corea BBQ is great. I think it helps that it is located in a Korean food plaza, with everyone pretty much serving the same thing. That means A. Price is competitive and B. Quality is constant. That is the magic of competition. Sure you can probably get better Korean food at a restaurant, but how many of you would go to a restaurant for lunch? Here you get your food FAST, there is plenty of self seating, and you don't have break the bank. I went with the Beef Rib Soup (Galbi Tang?) which cost a grand total of around $9. That's a steal if you ask me. It came out pretty quick and was still boiling in its stone pot (which caused me to burn my tongue so please be careful). They gave a good amount of meat, which was still on the bone so be prepared to gnaw it off like a carnivore. The soup had a good rich flavor which is good cause I love to drink soup. There was also a lot of glass noodles. In addition, you get a bowl of rice and 3 side dishes of kimchi, radish, and seaweed (SWEET). I was very satisfied and full. On those days when you don't really know what to have for lunch, I drive myself to Korea Town. To food court on a second level at Zion market to be exact, ha. I like how they serve fresh ingredients. They also have some bulgogi or fish and soup combos also for about $10. I like that this place is in a mall with validated parking and also where the Zion Market is, which makes it easy to grab a bite and pick up some things at the market. It's located in a food court so if you're dining alone and don't want to sit in a restaurant, you can come here for a quick meal. I asked for brown rice and it was super well-made, with a great variety of vegetables and roe. So much food, and so much flavor.
