We went to this place on a recommendation of my wife's friend and what a recommendation it was! The food was absolutely amazing. We shared the Estiva salad and had the gnocchi and garlic spaghetti. It was outrageous. Also, the waitress brought us some samples of their pear and cheese ravioli and we wished we ordered that as well. Since it was our honeymoon, they gave us a slice of chocolate cake on the house! This place is 100% recommended to anyone who comes to Florence, but be aware that reservations are needed! We tried to go there the night before we went at 8pm, but it was an hour wait for a table. We made a reservation for the next day and was seated immediately. You will not be disappointed! read more

I'm going to get the only negative out of the way first...they may have been understaffed and had two waiters for the whole restaurant. They did a great job though and we're very pleasant despite being very busy. On to the positives! The decor was charming and the food was exceptional. I had a tagliatelle with rabbit that was mind blowing! Even the bread was fresh and delicious. Not one aspect of the dining experience was lacking, and the staff was very accommodating to a non-Italian speaker. I will for sure be coming back next time I'm in Italy! Grazie! read more

Excellent place to visit for a more unique taste in pasta. I highly recommend the pistachio pasta- the sauce is to die for! While the waiters are overloaded and service is a bit slow, the food is excellent and worth it. Also a plus- free (and good bread) and wifi. read more

We were staying at the hotel next door and on our first day there we tried this restaurant because it was an easy find. We did not have a reservation but they were able to seat us anyway. The staff was very friendly and the food and wine were great. I felt the cost was very reasonable give the quality of the service and food. This was the best meal of our trip. read more

The pear ravioli was exceptional (definitely as good as everyone on yelp is raving about), my wife had the Tagliatelle with Ragu and it was exceptional as well, the staff was very helpful at picking wine, they helped us pick a great one that paired very well with our meal. This was the best meal we had on our two week trip through Italy. When you go (in true Italian fashion), expect to have a 2-3 hour dinner experience, the service here as in most of Italy is at a very leisurely pace. It was really hard to find this place and we walked by it 3 times before we actually found it. I found it was best to put the directions in my phone and when I arrived at the place, stop and just look very carefully at all of the buildings, it really doesn't stand out. Reservations are super helpful, but if you don't have one, show up 5 minutes before it opens which is at like 6:30pm. read more

In a city full of great food this was at the top! The freshness of the ingredients, the wonderful salads and dishes offered and the attention to detail were superb. I'd say more of a 3.5 than a 4. Standout dishes- cheese and meat platter, pest and cheese ravioli, and ravioli with pistachio. Good dishes, not great dishes - liver pate and ribs. Not so good - tuna tartare. It seems like the pastas are the better dishes at Coquinarius. Service was a bit slow, not that friendly and they did not check in with you. Our server only came to our table when ordering and bringing our order. We had to catch their attention (which took awhile) for more water, to get our check and to pay. read more

This is the worst dining experience I've ever had. We got there and they made us wait for a table even though there were empty tables. Once we sat down we didn't see our waitress for another 10 to 15 minutes. We ordered the grande antipasto plate and it was disappointing. The meat was not impressive and the cheese was not good. We didn't finish it and they never came to check on us. We waited for another half an hour and I finally flagged someone down to take it away. Another half hour went by and our entrees never came. We flagged down another wait staff to inquire about it and they told us it was coming. Finally we got fed up and decided to just get the check and leave. The waitress finally came around and told us that they were waiting for us to finish our antipasto. From the time we ordered our food to the time we asked about our entree it had been over an hour. Well it's true what they say about restaurants in Italy... the better the food, the shittier the service. Let's get one thing straight: the food was good- the pasta was well cooked and the wine was a perfect pairing. However this does not make up for the absolutely ATROCIOUS service. The sommelier was enthusiastic about recommending a wine, but completely forgot to serve the requested second glass, as did the 2 waiters that were assisting us. Never got any bread either. Then I received the wrong entree and none of the people working stopped by to ask me if my meal was ok, so I didn't even get a chance to correct the error. The desserts also arrived separately and were placed in front of the incorrect person. We then asked for the check multiple times to multiple people and waited 20 min. Decided to type this review as I continued to wait for my check to arrive... There are so many other amazing restaurants in Florence don't bother with one in which the staff is so egregiously incompetent. read more

Great place just outside of the touristy area of Duomo. Great wine selection, great service, and great food. The limoncello (on the house both times we went there) is great. The lardo crostini is fantastic. We went one night and loved it so much we came back the next night. Thanks for making our few nights in Firenze fantastic! read more

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend who had it in turn recommended from a friend. I would like to continue this virtuous cycle by passing on this recommendation to you all. This was easily our best meal in Florence, hands down. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and lively. Our hotel called a head and made a reservation for us for the same evening (I think if you eat on the early, side (i.e. before 830 you'll be OK without one...but I also think you can make a reservation online, so do it just to be safe)). We had a delicious plate of assorted crostini; cheese and pear ravioli; beef tartar with asparagus; pork chop with potatoes; and a delicious bottle of Chianti...oh and some grappa for 'dessert'. Our waiter was friendly; the other patrons were fun and chatty (we met a British couple celebrating their 53rd(!) wedding anniversary, who had received the restaurant tip from a local bookshop)); and it was a wonderful dining experience. My family and I just had dinner tonight at this place and had the best time. So far this is my favorite place in Florence. It is hard to pick what to eat from the menu as everything sounds delicious. We ordered several plates to share and the very best was the "crostini misti" (mix of crostinies). The waitresses are very nice and the service is superb. SO disappointed. We had visited this restaurant on a recommendation from a friend and this was the worst restaurant we went to our entire EuroTrip. It took us 30 minutes just to get a glass of water and when we went to order the waitress said that a different guy took the wine order. An hour in, we finally got a bottle of wine which turned out to be awful as it had such a large amount of wine sediment at the bottom, it made our last 2 glasses not so enjoyable. The crostini that we had here was very good but the entrees were expensive and the worst we had anywhere before. I got the pork ribs which were the driest piece of meat I have ever had. There was no sauce at all which was super disappointing. My friend had a pasta dish that was flavorless and once again had no sauce. We waited to get the bill from the waitress and once we requested it, we waited another 20 minutes to go up and pay at the stand. In addition, we kept seeing the servers grab all the silverware by the top ends (where you eat from) with their hands and serving them to customers (gross!) We ended up paying 70 euros to eat here and left hungry, irritated and disappointed. read more

We had a wonderful dinner at Coquinarius last night. The restaurant has moved further down the street from its prior location (to number 11, I believe), and is now in a large, pleasant, simple space. The food and service were really very good and include a large selection of excellent dinner salads, especially nice. I wanted a salad as a main dish but couldn't decide between a delicious sounding crostini of goat cheese and fig on brown bread and the pear and cheese ravioli that others have raved about. The server told me not to worry about it and brought me a sample of the crostini gratis along with the ravioli. Both were delicious (I may have to go back for more of the crostini). Our server also picked a perfect wine for my food choices from an extensive selection of wines by the glass. My husband had the honey and Brie crostini and a different salad (he recalls chicken and bacon), and reports they were also excellent. So glad we found this special restaurant! read more
